Called the embassy and was told that I need to come over to Abuja, but not to the embassy directly but through VFS global.

All applicants must visit the VFS to apply in person, but after Visa grant, our passports can be shipped back to us.

I intend getting Singapore visa as well to visit from Kuala Lumpur due to proximity

I need help seriously to something that has been bothering me for a long time now. I am an extreme introvert that can't start or hold a conversation with anybody. My brother life is very cheap.

Once you change your name you will need a new passport so they combine the fees. You can't do change of name (data) without a new passport. It's on their website you can verify if you want.
