Freecoecamp is quite solid, although I think you might need some little experience with programming and web development to catch their curriculum quickly since it's more project-focused. You can also check out TheOdinProject, recently started on it, and it's mad exhaustive and from reviews on Reddit; if you're able to go through the program from beginning to end, you should be ready for entry-level developer roles.
Okay. I learned C on Freecodecamp last year to develop programming skills as a physicist.

The site is good but the concepts are pretty basic. I think one needs a lot more to build solid projects.

I seriously doubt.

I have not used any of the above before but to learn programing, you need a laptop with "preferably"8gb ram ( at least 4gb) . Then having VM with Ubuntu or Xubuntu is very important because terminal provides access easily to Git and rest. I seriously "doubt" any android app will scratch the surface.
Well said. Do you know more than one programming language?

And how do you cope with coding in them without forgetting what you know in a language you don't use often?

Yes, but what does arguing here do for that broke person in the grand scheme of things? "Likes"? Can you monetise " likes"? That broke person is wasting valuable time arguing here.
The broke person can afford data, right? And watch comedy skits of Sabinus and Broda Shaggi?
HTML and CSS overview on Freecodecamp YouTube channel is 8 hours. That's about 2.5GB or less at 720p resolution.

Or that broke person should download Sololearn App, Mimo App and Code Editor app then start learning and practicing coding on his phone until he can afford a good laptop. He shouldn't be arguing here.
Can one really build any meaningful project using Sololearn and Freecodecamp to learn a language like C?

I did a software engineering course last year (though I'd to stop because of a challenge I had) and what I learnt then didn't make me rate those platforms.

I've continued with the program this year.

Disstroy made sense but it had nothing to do with what livenprospar was saying.

Prosper is asking, should poor people not have opinions here or online?

Disstroy is now going about how poor people should spend better use of their time. While that is a good argument, it is mired in classism.

Who told him that poor people here are not making good use of their time? How is that good point of his linked with prospers position and question?
I understand. It's not right to say that poor people shouldn't have opinions on issues because a number of wealthy men today were once poor.

Sometimes expressing one's opinion on issues intelligently can even open doors for one in certain circles.

However, a broke person shouldn't be striving to give opinions on many issues online when they should be busy trying to change their situation.

Moderation is key.

The attached is an interesting photo. These days, there are many IT programs that teach Nigerians and Africans various tech skills, including programming, software development, etc. for free.

In the next decade, I predict the number of IT professionals in the country would have quadrupled at least. It'd be interesting to see how this change can help fight corruption in Nigeria using tech, especially software development and software engineering.

We've many smart youths in Nigeria that should be able to achieve this great feat.

(Sadly, there are many dull, unpatriotic youths too that can sabotage these efforts.)

https://u.osu.edu/introhumanitiesonline/2020/02/04/role-of-christian-missionaries-in-colonial-africa/

This is a good historical piece from the Department of Humanities, Ohio State University, on the role of Christian missionaries in colonial Africa. It explains the role that religion played in the activities of the colonial administrators in Nigeria.

There are tons of such proofs online documenting how the British colonialists used religion to justify and aid their colonization campaign in Nigeria and Africa.

The conclusion of the article is succinctly put:

The Christian missionaries of the Colonial Age worked in very different ways from the missionaries of today. They believed that converting native people to Christianity was of such dire importance that they felt justified in forcibly and violently converting them. This did much damage not only to those directly impact by the hostility, but to the generations of lost culture and tradition of native religions all across Africa.

I didn't expect that anyone would contest these glaring facts. And this guy even said GB wasn't interested in the religion of the colonized.

What a blatant lie!

In the case of the North, the British missionaries tried many times but failed. It wasn't that they didn't try to penetrate the North at all as they did in the South, especially Yorubaland.

It's another case entirely how Western education introduced by Christianity made some citizens hard to control for the colonial administrators, which was why Lord Lugard seemed to be anti-missionary.

They used religion (Christianity) to aid their colonization agenda in Nigeria, but as soon they found out that some citizens became too educated and too smart (by reading some books), the colonial administrators started opposing some missionary activities.

Obviously, their introduction of the religion wasn't to civilize Africa as they claimed but to aid pillaging of its resources and controlling them in an easier manner.

Or maybe. . . Just maybe they realized religion was counter productive to their control agenda which is why they restricted missionaries from crusading in the north like someone else posited to you.

It is possible that intelligent people (even if they may be colonialists) can realize that the tenets of Christianity (which teaches that everyone is equal in God's eyes) will work against a subjugator's world view on such and therefore not be a tool of control?

The religion that spread to the Igbos during the colonialist rule of GB was Roman Catholicism. If your argument is that governments usher in religion as a subjugatory tool, does it not follow that GB ushered in Roman Catholicism to control the igbos?

Of course, to make your vacuous argument even slightly tenable you have to throw a blanket over Anglicanism and Catholicism. The only major issue that pokes out is that pesky word called British which no sensible person will ever relate with Catholicism. But you are not a sensible person so. . .
You can pretend not to know the actitivies of the Portuguese that took many Yorubas and Ibos as slaves.

You are arguing that governments institutionalize religion to control the denizens. Someone challenged you by demonstrating how within Nigeria, Roman Catholicism pervaded the Igbo nation and even made them more insubordinate to the British colonialists. You disagreed by using the blanket term "Christianity" to cover for the gap in your logic whilst forgetting that British missionaries who were almost entirely Anglican, could not have been responsible for spreading Roman Catholicism or any religion especially when it was counter productive to what the colonialists would have needed to subjugate their colonies.

So if the Igbos became predominantly catholic under British imperialists, it is nonsensical to blame the imperialists for their catholicism.
Before you make a fool of yourself further, show me where I told you that GB established Christianity in Iboland.

Omo ode. While the Great Britain brought the Anglican doctrine into some parts of Yorubaland, Portuguese missionaries introduced catholicism into Iboland.

Whether Protestant denominations or Catholicism, it's all Christianity, and the religion was a key aspect of the campaigns of colonialists in Africa as many historical facts have shown.

I can only shake my head.

There is a Redeemed church in almost every country in the world. Is it the Nigerian Government that is opening Redeem parishes everywhere?

Mr man, apply some logic na?

If your position is that there were British Missionaries in Nigeria, I have never disputed that, and in fact I was the one that first discussed missionary spread in Nigeria.

If your position is that because the Missionaries were British, then they were sent by the same Government that was heavily restricting them in Nigeria, then bruv...

The British Government in Nigeria under the man who literally created the country and whose girlfriend gave us the name, was actively focused on preventing Missionaries from penetrating too deeply into Nigeria.

Lord Lugard even said with his own mouth that he believed Islam was better suited to Nigerians than Christianity because it allowed for polygamy and felt more like an indigenous religion for us.

So the logic of Christianity setting us back makes no sense at all. If anything, the colonial rulers clearly felt that Christianity was enlightening us too much
Lols. Church of England na private church? This man is so funny. It's a well known fact that the missionaries then were either funded or supported by the government.

This is such a ridiculous take. Comparing churches that have become pure water now to the 19th century when they were so scarce, only introduced by the colonialists that also controlled their activities.

I see you're among the so-called enlightened people that saw English dresses and English language (without looking at the content of what's said in the language) as signs of enlightenment.

If not, you wouldn't have echoed the childish sentiment of some people that equated anything European as signs of enlightenment and anything African as backward.

This mentality reeks of deep-seated inferiority complex and self-hate.

They're whites and look like angels and our lord Jesus Christ, and their religion, language, and ways must be pure. Na that childish mentality made some Africans sold out their people for just a mirror.

At no point did I ever say there were no missionaries in Nigeria.

You said:

There are 3 main tribes in Nigeria. I then pointed out that

1. The British actively vetoed missionary outreach to Hausa/Fulani
2. It was Catholic missionaries that penetrated Igboland. Great Britain is literally the inventor of the Anglican Church, and their Head of State is also the Global Head of Anglican Church. It stands to reason that Anglican church will send Anglican missionaries out, no?
3. Ajayi Crowther was the main Anglican missionary in Yoruba Land. He was a returned slave funded by CMS, yet Yoruba indigenous religion was and remained strong in his time.

So if in colonial times, we had an Anglican presence in only 1 of the 3 major tribes, then how were the Colonials using religion to control us?

Instead i will point you to accounts that showed the colonial government was actively restricting missionary activities. One colonial administrator sacked a traditional leader that converted to Christianity. Another one complained that Christian converts were becoming too difficult to govern because they now think they are equal to the white man. Lugard himself felt that the missionary schools were 'FRAUDS', his words not mine, and that Christianity was causing his populace to get too uppity

You can see that far from trying to introduce Christianity to us, the colonial administrators were ACTIVELY fighting it and trying to surpress the religion, which is why Lugard rushed to prevent Christianity from reaching the North.

If you the quotes of the actual colonial masters are not enough for you, but some random nobody in ohio is the evidence you're banking on, then bruv, I have nothing else to say.
Okay, you now agree GB sent missionaries to Africa because you stylishly avoided this fact earlier to show that GB, who sent missionaries to Africa, weren't interested in the religion of the colonized.

Was that not your initial position?

However, those images you sent show they were very interested actually and considered religion a key part of their campaign (which was why they spent huge sums of money to fund those missions in the first place), but they just didn't like the version of Christianity those people practised.

It's well known that Christians base their beliefs and actions on select verses of the Bible. A rapist, racist, thief, colonialist, humanist, good samaritan would use their cherished (select) verses in the Bible to justify their action, whether good or bad.

So, those colonialists (even just a small fraction of them from what I can see in those screenshots) were only displeased because the way those Christians practised that religion they had imposed on them didn't go as planned, i.e., to control them.

There are even accounts that stated a number of the colonialists that came to Africa were atheists.

Still, the fact remains GB established and spread Christianity in Yorubaland (which was what I said in my earlier posts, not the whole of Nigeria) in the 19th century.

About the various tribes of Nigeria, I know Portugal was the one that sent missionaries to Edo. I never mentioned establishing Christianity in the North, who are predominantly Muslims, in any of my posts you quoted.

Your screenshots only pointed out few exceptions. Generally, colonial masters used a religion like Christianity to further their imperialistic agenda in Africa, regardless of your beliefs.
