Even positions and hypotheticals require a basis…something that led you to take hypothesis or position…you on the other hand are just an empty blob regurgitating what your master teaches and you run away from the point and start insulting when questioned
A person agreeing with you doesn’t make them smart and a person disagreeing with you doesn’t mean they need of dictionary. Present a point that you didnt ask for and has no correlation with your question 2. Where he cannot present anything he says it was just a position not a fact
Then why are you so defensive if it is only a position? Why take a claim so seriously and obsessively repeating it all over? Why use affirmative language in the first place? They are more than claims to him but he knows he cannot support them
The name calling are a reaction to his helplessness You and the kid you quoted reason alike. Any smart person reading my posts you quoted will see where I clearly stated that when it comes to the origin of humanity, evolution is the only established scientific fact, not intelligent design (as stated in Otem's book, Olorun's creation story, Qur'an's, the Bible's). In other words, intelligent design isn't a scientific fact (which I even stated in my posts you quoted). But then, you obviously don't understand these clear statements. The same thing applies to all cultures around the world, including Ibo, Israel, Arab, and others. macof: Lmao. You cannot post the facts but you can post this?
Herodotus, faraday, newtow, thomas edison, da vinci... all the people you mentioned were educated or nurtured in their field or similar fields, they were amongst the most priviledged of their time. You cannot compare your otem to herodotus or da vinci. besides this is 2021 not 1721, you cannot be presenting information as if you are a pioneer, there are countless scholars in the field of history, physics, anthropology, paleontolgy etc which Otem is dabling in And since all the people you mentioned we have acquired greater knowledge, used the parts of their work that is useful and discarded those that are not. Herodotus for example, was born in a greek town controlled by the persians and therefore was privi to knowledge behind much of his notes he was also well travelled and made inquiries as he met new people yet many things he wrote is not regarded as accurate..so get that straight
lmao so the source of Otem's "history of the universe" is ancient egypt? is Otem an egpytologist? has he been to the tombs of the pharaohs, has he transliterated hieroglyphics? which renowned egyptologists are his sources or research partners? is his book peer-reviwed or associated with an academic institution?
The things you listed are not serious things 1. There is nothing special about a fictional author inventing a fictional language. Infact it happens often. Lord of the rings, Dune, A song of Ice and Fire and many more fictions as i mentioned before have fictional languages with elements of natural languages 2. Have you read Game of thrones? or any of the other books from the "a song of ice and fire" series? you would get indepth world building, different fictiona languages and a long span of ancestral geneology. That is what he called "creativity" don't underestimate it 3. "look" but it is not. I have gone through his threads as you recommended and there is no scientific method applied 4 & 5. He uses some already established and well known science to justify some of his ideas but the ideas themselves are not scientific. you have an idea from your imagination and you try to justify it by trying to attach some science to it. This is what every good fiction does. Good authors apply some real world science to ground their escapist imaginative world and make it less nonsensical. Hence you have Otem talking about real world archaic hominidae like homo erectus and even giving fairly accurate datings to their fossil finds but Otem is not teaching about Homo erectus, if we want to learn about homo erectus we would approach proper sources that are specific to the subject 6. lmao, i thought you said you were athiest or agnostic so the ancient egyptian God Atem is the source of what Otem is teaching you and you know this how? because Otem says so? Mehn if this isn't a cult 7. Except it doesn't use any historical methods or historical sources. And as for Philosophy, even this is grounded on the use of other disciplines so you would be compelled to work with the laws and methods of those disciplines
seriously though, i see you are hungry for knowledge and that is why you probably left the religion you were in before, but there are lots of crazy stuff out there, best you be careful not to jump from fry pan to the fire This Otem's issue dey give religious people like you a lot of headache. Again, this is not the thread and the time for this discussion. I didn't bother to read that long epistle because it's only derailing the thread. |

PROFESSOR NIYI OSUNDARE ON RELIGION AND NIGERIANS
"Religion has killed rational thinking in Nigeria. I say this all the time, our country is still in a pre-scientific era. That is why things are like this.
We don’t think logically; that is why any ruler, any fool would seize the reins and rule us, because we would always find an excuse for being ruled or being led by the nose.
Not long ago a pastor said he was between two cities and he discovered that the fuel in his car had run out.
He actually checked and saw the fuel in the car was completely gone.
But because of his act of faith and on the strength of his prayers, he was able to do two hundred miles on an empty tank!
When he declared this testimony, people clapped and shouted “ Hallelujah!” I never heard anybody say how can?"
"Nigerians don’t ask questions; that is why the imams and the pastors lead them by the nose, and the politicians also complete their humiliation and disempowerment.
And between the clerics and the political functionaries, there is a very close liaison. It’s a kind of power structure; one controls the political, social realm, the other controls the spiritual, metaphysical realm and they are together.
Many Nigerians are not rational, interrogative people. In fact, in this country today, if you are the interrogative type you are easily labelled, branded, and condemned.
People even wonder: why are you always asking questions?"
"Another problem: well, our people are docile and the reason why they take all kinds of cheating is that many of them envisage themselves in the position of power someday, too.
If I am X and the oppressor is Y, and the oppressor is oppressing me, stealing all the money, and making life difficult for me and my children, I am not likely to attack him.
I’ll pray to God to let my own “miracle” happen so that someday, he will go and I will be in his place. No; I am praying for him to go but for the structure to remain." ~ Professor Niyi Osundare |

Firefoxy: As an ex-Christian who has had more encounters with Christians, and since Nigeria is a predominantly Christian society, my main focus is on Christians. This article is merely pointing out the hypocrisy and “insanity” of “religious people”.
CHRISTIANS ON OTHER RELIGIONS/BELIEFS: Christians want to be able to say things like, “there’s only one true god and other gods are fake” in reference to other religions, or “only a fool believes that there’s no god” in reference to unbelievers, but the moment Christianity is criticized, you get checked because you have no right to “disrespect” their religion. They want to freely express their beliefs and even shove it in your face with or without your consent, while condescending you the moment you express yours. They have the right to destroy shrines, to stand at every corner of the road, harassing people in the name of evangelism, but the moment one says that they don’t believe in any kind of religion or god, they’re crazy. If and irreligious person saying that god doesn’t exist is disrespectful to your religion, then you saying that god exists is disrespectful to their unbelief. But of course, the logic doesn’t work like that.
CHRISTIANS ON MORALITY: Of course they’d also prioritize their moral values above other peoples. They’re the first to call a girl names, slut, ashawo, olosho, undeserving of respect the moment she dresses in a way that doesn’t align with their morals. They have demonized sex, especially for women, as their god requires. I stand to be corrected but there’s literally no part of the Bible that states a woman should be disrespected if she doesn’t dress a certain way. Even though Nigerians Christians have collectively agreed that certain things which are not in the Bible, like white weddings, are not a part of their religion. So why then are people expected to look a certain way, or have a certain sexual lifestyle before they’re deserving of respect? “Your body is the temple of god” is a phrase that can be interpreted in several ways, and Christians have only ever used it to justify their insulting and disrespecting other people. They don’t care about diversity. They’ve created a route that they believe everyone must follow, and if your dare to divert from the route and try to express yourself differently, you must be condemned. They want everyone else to also stick to the status quo. The hypocrisy and toxicity of this cult is unmatched.
CHRISTIANITY AND THE LAW: They also use their religious beliefs to justify the most insane and illogical laws, even though they’ll constantly condemn the sharia law for existing. Is that hypocrisy or is that hypocrisy? There’s literally no logical argument for why people of the same gender having sex should be a crime apart from the fact that Yaweh doesn’t like it. A group of people are constantly harassed, insulted, killed for simply existing, and their existence is a “taboo” and nobody cares what is happening to them. After all, they can just “choose” to not have that sexuality if they want to be respected. Religious people emote nothing but sheer bitterness and wickedness.
CHRISTIANITY AND MISOGYNY: They’ll constantly demean women too, desperately trying to put them in a place, of course because god say so. While many women would pretend that Christianity supports equality, it’s all just a hollow excuse. Now Christian men believe that they have a right to a woman, she also owes them her “virginity” even though they can live their life however they want. This woman also must be submissive to him whether it’s in her nature or not, whether she likes it or not. While submission isn’t a bad thing, it cannot be forced, because then it becomes a bad thing. Let’s not even go into Leviticus as a whole, because according to Christians, the Old Testament no longer applies, even though that’s where they get the statement they use to justify homophobia or other forms of hate.
We’ve given religious people too much power over us, and in many cases it’s necessary if we want to survive, and at the end of the day, they’ll point fingers at you and call you the bad guy, the crazy one. Well said. |
