Okay Sir. But, if THC never cover my eye finish, I believe he said people reffer to them as demons.

That being said, I do appreciate your takes as they are not far from logical. smiley
All the views he expressed are the same popular distorted histories that the average African believes in as taught by the Bible or Qur'an.

Calling me a pagan because I'm learning about my ancestors and culture.

An Ibo Christian or Muslim would say Ekwensu is Satan. A Yoruba Christian or Muslim would say Eshu is Satan.

Yet, Eshu is one of the ancestors of the Yoruba people.

Also, Ekwensu is one of the ancestors of the Ibo people.

Satan is a Judeo-Christian concept that used to be completely alien to the African cultures. Before Christianity and Islam were brought into Africa, Eshu was one of the deities reverred and worshipped in Yorubaland.

The same thing applies to Ekwensu in Iboland.

Neither Eshu nor Ekwensu is Satan. Also, Eshu and Ekwensu are not demons.

They are great people that lived in the past and were deified for their memorable achievements.

When I studied the history of Eshu from Otem's book and Isese practitioners (Yoruba pagans) and studied the history of Allah and Jehovah in Qur'an, the Bible, and Otem's book objectively, I realized Eshu actually has a better temperament compared with Allah and Yahweh.

I discovered Eshu is actually a saint when you compare his history with those of Allah and Yahweh.

Allah and Yahweh are the real demons who committed genocides killing millions of souls and plan to burn over trillions in eternal fire as per quranic and biblical texts.

Based on historical records, Eshu never killed people in large numbers. Punishment by burning in eternal fire is alien to Yoruba culture. Reincarnation was what Eshu, Ifa, Orunmila, Oduduwa taught our forefathers.

Eshu is not Satan. People should learn to take responsibility for their actions and stop blaming Eshu for their misdeeds.

The foolish guy I was discussing with believes his ancestors such as Amadioha, Ala, and co are demons and principalities and cursed. Majority of Africans are just like that: dull and intellectually weak.

They'd worship and revere Allah, Muhammad, Yahweh, Jesus, Moses, and co. who are complete strangers and curse and demonize Orunmila, Amadioha, Atum, Obatala, and co. who are their own ancestors.

The foolish people don't know that if you've no connections to your ancestors by learning about them and celebrating them, such a people can never prosper.

It's not a curse. You wonder why Africa is the most backward of the world's continents.

Just a little correction not that I agree or disagree with all your arguments.

In Yoruba culture, the supreme being is called Olodumare and not Olorun. No where in IFA will you see Olorun. Olorun came into the Yoruba disco to pronounce God of the abrahamic religion.

The supreme being of the Yoruba culture is OLODUMARE.

Thank you sir.
That's not true. It's Olorun Eledumare or Olodumare in full. That's how it's in Odu Ifa corpus. Do you have a copy?

I don't really know of Olorun but is their any evidence from the deep research that he or Chukwu existed
The clearest evidence is that all these gods, including the chief gods such as Olorun in the Yoruba culture, Chukwu in the Ibo culture, Allah in the Arabic culture, Jehovah in the Israeli culture, have human-like traits.

When you study their traits and characteristics, they reason and behave like humans.

Those gods are past beings.

They're ETs that designed early humans and taught them languages and cultures.

Books such as The Book of Universal History By OtemAtum and The Annunaki Chronicles by Zecharia Sitchin discuss this subject in detail.

Those are books anyone that seeks to know the truth about religion and their gods should read.

In 2015, The Annunaki Chronicles was the book that first opened my eyes to the truth. But Otem's is the best literature on the subject, especially because of the level of details, depth of historical accounts in the book and the language he brought.

Reading those two books, and then reading Qur'an and the Bible again is enough to make one see enough evidence and know the truth.

When Isese practitioners narrate their creation story, they'd say their deities descended from heaven.

In many creation stories around the world, this motiff of "heaven" runs through them.

I could go on and on and cite some other evidence. But I've made enough posts here for the day.

This was what the followers of Sango did then after Sango committed suicide by hanging.

After the suicide, many people began saying "oba pokun so", that is "the king died by hanging".

This was saddening to followers of Sango who, in a bid to change the narrative, then mysteriously attacked anyone who ever said that "oba so" or "oba pokun so".

This is why one of the titles of Sango today is "oba koso", that is "the king did not hang". This is a surprise and a lie since he died by hanging.

This event proves your assertion that some practitioners have to lie about the truth of their religion so that people can see the religion as an object of mystery and fear, worthy of worship.

This, by extension, shows that without thorough research, one may not know the truth of certain aspects of the traditional religion.
Yes, one of the titles of Sango is "oba koso", but anyone well versed in Sango's history knows that's a lie.

Too many lies and half-truths in religions generally.

The Issue at this point is that you are not Igbo and don't understand Igbo(Totality of the Igbo culture).
This scenario makes it impossible for you understand our point.

Chi-Spirit being/destiny/light
Ukwu-High/Tall/Great/mighty

Chiukwu is a being. He is not like Zeus or Eledumare. He didn't give birth to Amadioha. he is also referred to as Chineke(the chi that creates). None of the Igbo gods create. He is sometimes seen as the Sun upon who lives revolve. It is a thought. He is the destiny upon who all lives revolve. He is the being in the high places. There are no shrines in Igboland for Chiukwu. He has neither adherents or priest or worshippers.

I believe you are a factual man, so until you have concrete evidence, it is best to avoid roping Chiukwu with the rest. A spirit must not exist in the human flesh (demons). The fact that history is lost doesn't mean we rewrite history
There are no shrines in Yorubaland for Olorun as well.

Chukwu, Olorun actually have a lot in common.

The shrines all about in Yorubaland are those dedicated to Obatala, Yemoja, Osun, Sango, Ogun, and co.

Go to Osun State and see them in various places, but you won't see a single shrine for Olorun. It has been so from the ancient times.

Just like the Ibos, some Isese practitioners generally call all their deities spirits as they believe they're too great to be called a mere mortal.

But when you dig deeper, it becomes clear they've existed in the past.

In 2021, I chatted with some Isese practitioners. I'd already done my research about Ifa reading various books.

So, I set out to find out what Isese practitioners know about him. Some of these people told me Ifa was a spirit; others stated he was a human.

But I already know the truth that some traditionalists don't like calling their deities humans even though they know they were.

They prefer to call them spirits so people can see them as objects of mystery and fear, worthy of worship.

It sounds logical but not really true.

There are entities which people refer to as demons or principalities. These are the ancient earthlings who ruled the world in the preadamic past. They are worshipped by paganist as gods and they still have influence today. Satan is one of them.

Their names are not known because they don't have one. Modern humans then ascribbed titles to them depending on how they relate.

These entities are not the same as natural phenomena that others still worship because they consider them as wonders. That's why I gave you specific examples like lightening/thunder, earth/soil, oceans, mountains etc. It's like eclipses, these are all natural phenomena. These have specific names that are not derived from any ancient person.

Even now, some Africans have almost turned their pastors into deities or gods!

Africans!
That's the modus operandi of all gods in religion, whether the chief/major god or the less powerful ones.

God is a purely human construct.

Life isn't fair. Nature places some humans at the top of pyramid and gifted with them with superior intelligence and abilities.

These are those the vast majority of humans call and worship as God simply because the vast majority of humans operate on lower levels of intelligence and abilities.

Some humans are placed by nature at the top of a mountain and see much farther than the most of their fellow humans placed on lowlands by nature.

You should change your bio to paganist and not agnostic.

Lightening is a natural phenomenon, no ancient person has power of any natural phenomenon.

If the man who became the first Yoruba blacksmith is Ogun, and Ogun means iron then who named him Ogun? His mother?

You are just confusing yourself with long write ups of nothingness. The focus of my response is the names of gods and not what they do.

Amadioha is a god worshipped by Igbos. Amadioha means thunder. Meaning that Igbos worship the natural phenomenon called thunder. If he were an ancient being is immaterial to the discussion. The name ascribed to the god is what I am talking about and it is more or less a title.

I know about this because that is the god my forefathers worshipped as priest. You cannot tell me about Amadioha, unless (on a lighter note) you want me to send him to you grin grin grin
That's why I said you're the typical African that knows next to nothing about the local cultures and can't think critically.

Africans have specific names for their gods. Those are names, not titles.

So because I'm learning about my culture, that makes me a pagan even though I don't worship any god or deity. Typical African.

And where did I tell you Ogun means iron in the posts you quoted? I said Ogun is referred to as god of iron.

That's the popular belief about him. Before Ogun discovered how to make iron by melting rocks with intense fire, people in his time didn't know what an iron is, and they cultivated the soil using tools made of wood.

After his discovery of iron and making different tools with it, Ogun became a synonym for iron.

As for Amadioha, Sango is a similar deity like him. I learned Sango's history from various sources including Otem and Isese practitioners.

There are many similarities in the accounts given by these sources, but there are too many exaggerations in the legends of Sango narrated by adherents of Yoruba traditional religion.

The same applies to Amadioha as well.

In the historical account of Sango that Otem gave, Sango spat fire from his mouth using a purely physical process.

However, such a feat seemed supernatural to those in his own time, who deified him as a god because those people had lower levels of intelligence and abilities.

Then, based on my research reading different books of history and interacting with Isese practitioner, Sango had existed in different human eras.

He first existed as a rephaim (a giant similar to a nephilim like the black man used to invent the Jesus Christ character by Romans) in the pre-homo erectus era. That Sango is the one Isese practitioners worship as a deity, god of thunder/lightning like Amadioha.

The rephaim Sango had great power of magia. While these are usually illusions, some are based on science and will be achieved by modern scientists in future.

For instance, he could artificially create thunderstorm/lightning using things of nature, just like today modern humans artifically create rain via the process of cloud seeding.

All these are physical processes, nothing spiritual or supernatural. But less limited people would call them juju or magia.

Today, scientists can artificial create a sun via nuclear fusion, generate rain via cloud seeding, create thunderstorms on a small scale via a Van de Graaff generator.

Yet, all these technologies aren't really new. Like I said above, science and technology didn't start with us, homo sapiens — modern humans.

The extinct races such as nephilims, rephaims, homo erectuses were even more technologically advanced than us.

Religious people would read the Bible and Qur'an and marvel at the technologies mentioned there, without realizing that science and technology didn't start with us.

The past beings were mightier and much more technologically advanced.

Our sciences, which are less than 600 years old, are still elementary. In the future, scientists will be able to travel at the speed of light, work with consciousness (soul), create humans as those entities religious people worship as God did in the past eras, colonize planets, and other feats that seem magical.

Sango and Amadioha achieved some of these feats in the past (extinct) world and were deified.

In the homo sapiens era, another Sango existed who ruled over the old Oyo Empire. He was the fourth Alafin of Oyo, following Oranmiyan, one of the sons of Oduduwa.

These past beings, including Eshu, founded many towns and cities in Yorubaland. Thus, you'll come across many places in Yorubaland whose names are the names of these deities or have names like Sango, Eshu as their root.

The same applies to Iboland.

The Alafin Sango was a reincarnate of the rephaim Sango.

Many famous people today making waves in science and technology, sports, acting, politics, and other human endeavors had existed in the past.

Such is the cycles of life.

The same applies to Olorun in Yoruba or Atum in ancient Egypt. Olorun is the big god or chief god of the Yoruba people, while Atum is the big god or chief god of the ancient Egyptians before the advent of Islam and Christianity.

The same applies to all cultures around the world. Each culture has its own distinct set of gods, with one big or major god or a godhead (formed by three or four gods) claiming superiority. Amadioha means lightening, Anyanwu means sunshine, Ala means earth. These aren't names of ancestors. These are natural phenomena people consider awesome and worthy of worship. If you think otherwise you are not less foolish than I am in believing that someone called 'lord' is not a title.
Lols, your knowledge of the subject is very limited.

You don't even know anything about the local deities in your culture, like the typical African that doesn't know his left from right.

I see you don't know anything about the origin of those natural phenomena associated with each of the deities.

Each of the deities represents certain aspects of nature they'd power over. In Yorubaland, the aspect of nature god Ogun has power over is iron. So, he's known as god of iron.

Ogun was the first blacksmith in Yorubaland that molded iron from rocks into different shapes (tools). According to the legends about him, he had power over iron.

In the ancient past, he invented swords, hoes, cutlasses, and other tools made of iron. Ogun made the profession of the farmers (called agbe in Yoruba) and hunters (known as ode in Yoruba) possible.

In other words, he pioneered what's called agbede (agbe + ode) in Yoruba meaning welding or blacksmith. This and many other heroic feats are the reasons why he has been worshipped for thousands of years after his death.

Ifa, another deity, had power over divination/prophecy, words of wisdom, and proverbs. Osanyin had power over herbs.

All these are deities worshipped in Yorubaland by Isese practitioners, but really, they're early Yoruba people that were great in the past.

These people invented herbs, many Yoruba words and proverbs, founded towns, ruled over places, and other great achievements in the past world.

Just like those Yoruba deities, Amadioha from the Ibo culture, also had power over an aspect of nature called thunder/lightning, according to the legends, like Sango, a similar deity in Yorubaland.

In modern times, a self-deified person like Otem has power over history, which is his own aspect of nature (his gift).

Also, Messi is considered by many as a god. He has power over football (his gift). There are other gifted people today that demonstrate such great talent that when compared with their less talented peers, they're gods or goddesses.

If gifted people like Messi and Ronaldo had existed in the era of Ifa or Afa, Ala, Amadioha, Orunmila, and co, you'd probably be worshipping them today as God and arguing with people that took the time to research their history that they're not early beings or humans.

So, your knowledge about the local deities in your culture is next to nothing.

When I said Amadioha, Ala, and co had existed in the past, it's real history. They are great Africans that had achieved heroic and memorable feats in the past and were deified because of these feats.

During their era, the brains of people then weren't well developed, so they saw the extraordinary abilities of gifted people as supernatural powers.

Those abilities include swimming, juggling of stones, welding, great dancing skills, healing abilities, killing of two-headed snakes, and many things we take for granted today because our brains have evolved over the years.

So, those gifted people were deified as a god or goddess (as spirits), and some of them designed a religion or cult because of that, while for other such gifted people, it was clever humans that built a religion or cult around the gifted people to exploit humans of lesser intelligence, just like clerics exploit Muslims and Christians today.

Thus, the histories people commonly narrate about these deities are exaggerated. That's why some erroneously consider them as myths.

It was Otem that made me develop interest in African history and history generally. Now, one of my hobbies is collecting books of history, especially books of African history.

I first read the history of Yoruba deities such as Ifa or Afa (in Ibo), Orunmila, Ogun, Osanyin, and co from his book.

After finishing his book in 2018 and studying the language he came with, I started making findings about the histories of the local deities from adherents of Yoruba traditional religion (Isese) online and in my immediate environs.

I traveled to Osun, did some findings, learned the history of Obatala, Orunmila, Osanyin, Ifa, Ogun, Oya, Osun, and others from Isese practitioners.

When I concluded the research, I realized due to Islam, I didn't know anything about these local deities and the native religions. I realized the depth of the histories in Otem's book.

That research made me conclude Otem isn't just manufacturing the things he writes about. With the depth of the historical accounts he gave, the etymology of many words he explained, and the language he came with, it became clear he actually got the writings from some ancient sources.

Actually, if you're knowledgeable about your local traditional religions, you'd understand most of things I'm saying here.

Next month, I'd be traveling to Osun again to continue my research. I plan to attend Odun Ifa Agbaye (an annual festival held to celebrate Ifa and other local deities) and Osun-Osogbo festival as well.

While I don't worship any deity or believe in juju, it's important to gain deep knowledge about these deities and know about the local culture.

I can't say for Allah as I don't know Arabic but I can tell you what those others mean.

Chukwu means big god. That's not a name. Jehova means the lord, that's more like a title. Same as others. If a god should have a name, who named him? undecided

Unlike Africans, Greeks have specific names for their gods like Zeus and Odin etc.

So you are wrong in the area.
You're just like the typical African that repeats the same distorted and false history peddled by Europeans and Arabs.

Like the Greeks, Africans also have specific names for their gods.

Olorun, Chukwu, Ohmorihi, Osanobua, and many others are specific names of African gods, just like Zeus, and co are specific names of Greek gods, Allah is a specific name of an Arab god, and Jehovah is a specific name of an Isreali god.

Luna, Ohmorihi, Ojo are specific names of gods in the Kogi culture, who are the ancestors of the Kogi people. Those are names, not titles.

All those entities are the chief gods or big gods of their culture, meaning each claims the title of God, and each culture around the world has its own sets of gods and goddesses, each of which is distinct from the others.

Otem would even tell you your Chukwu is an ET that designed early Ibos, who are the forefathers of present-day Ibos, just like Atum is an ET that designed the black people that had existed in ancient Egypt. All these entities people see as God are simply early beings.

Or gifted beings, who we call Orisa (deity) in Yoruba. Orisa means eni ti ori sa da yato in Yoruba or "a person made special or gifted by his/her head".

That's a deep history, especially if you know the history of African traditional religions well. Based on my findings interacting with different Isese (Yoruba traditional religion) practitioners, Otem's histories have a lot of depth.

Isese practitioners in Yorubaland would say deities like Orunmila, Oduduwa, Sango, Ogun, Osun, Yemoja, and co descended from heaven (the Yoruba word they use is rowa); some like Oduduwa did so with a chain or ewon in Yoruba, according to them.

(See the chain of Oduduwa, one of the ancestors of the Yoruba people in the attached picture.)

All these deities are early Yoruba people. Ignorant African Muslims and Christians would say these deities are demons; some foolish atheists would claim they never existed, that they're fictional entities.

You're a big fool if you think Socrates or Plato existed, and Orunmila or Ogun or Amadioha never existed.

Most Africans, including you, don't know the history of your local deities. But it's essential knowledge every African must know to preserve our histories and cultures.

As far as I'm concerned, Chukwu, Osanobua, goddess Ala, Afa (the same called Ifa in Yoruba), Amadioha, Yoruba deities like Olorun, Orunmila, Oya, Ifa, Osanyin, Sango, Ogun, Osun all are past beings, who are the ancestors of present-day Africans, and the same thing applies to Zeus, Allah, Yahweh in their respective cultures.

It's not a coincidence that many names -- of people, states, cities, and towns -- in the South-West have the names of these local deities as their roots or bases. They're names, not titles.

God is a title, not a name. You've gods of religion like Allah, Jehovah, Olorun, Chukwu, each of which is a distinct entity; also, there are gods of football like Messi, Ronaldo.

The practice of referring to gifted humans as a god or goddess (deifying humans) is an age-long practice.

That people call Olorun or Chukwu a god doesn't mean both entities are the same, just like Messi isn't the same as Ronaldo simply because people call both gods of football.

You're arguing blindly and ignorantly. People that make this your kind of submission also say their ancestors are Adam and Eve, when there's no single evidence for such a silly claim.

I don't know how an African is related to Adam or Eve. That's simply false history.

If you're Ibo, your ancestors are Chukwu, Ala, Amadioha, and co. The ancestors of Ijaw people are Fenibeso, Osanobua, and co. As a Yoruba, my ancestors are Olorun, Obatala, Orunmila, Ifa, Oya, Yemoja, Sango, Osanyin, Ogun, and co.

I don’t understand why Nigerians use tile flooring for the entire house, worsestill, bathrooms and stairs.
I didn't even know the guy don hit 49 already. I thought his age was in the region of 35. His death is really painful, just like the demise of Dejo Tunfulu about this time last year.

Chukwu, Olorun, Jehova (perhaps Allah) are titles not names.
That's very wrong. They're names. All dieties worshipped in Africa before Islam and Christianity are names.

Anyone can bear a title, but there's only one Olorun in Yorubaland, only one Chukwu in Iboland, only one Ohmorihi in Kogi, and many others.

Those are names, not titles.

Allah is also a name, not a title unless you've written your own Qur'an with an Allah different from the one Muslims worship.

Yes, confirmed. I learnt he celebrated his birthday a couple of days back. This life is so transient.

This is why I mostly use my birthdays for reflections and not useless celebrations.
Yes, life is really transient. A person is here now, the next minute, they're gone.

I don't celebrate birthdays also.

During one's sojourn on Earth, which is relatively short for us (modern humans or homo sapiens), it's important to use one's time well for essential activities and with the right people (family and friends) before one experiences that OOBE, a journey of no return.

Dying is a process that involves OOBE, and that's why Yorubas call death irinajo aremabo (a journey of no return).

Having OOBE is like dying, when your soul (consciousness) floats as a ray of light over your body and you watch your body lying on the floor.

When a Muslim cleric was describing his near-death experience (NDE) during a Ramadan lecture, I recalled my own experience when I had an OOBE for the first time as a teen.

It felt like dying then and was very terrifying. But I've had it many times now over the years.

To the average Caucasian, there’s nothing like, ”brown skinned people". You’re either white or a person of color.

That goes for blacks, arabs, asians etc

RIP Murphy
Wow, is it confirmed? Such tragic news. His best and most common role in Yoruba films was babalawo.

He was a gifted thespian as far as casting that role is concerned.

As a student in the university years ago, for a brief period, I belonged to the sect of conservative Muslims known as Ahlu Sunnah. Those are fundamentalists that strive to practice Islam as Muhammad and his companions did in their lifetime.

(Ahlu Sunnah is different from Tabligh, but both share similarities.)

Many of those Yoruba fundamentalists (Ahlu Sunnah) don't say Olorun at all. They simply call God Allah.

At a time then, one of them delivered a sermon emphasizing how Allah is starkly different from Olorun citing various books written by Islamic scholars to buttress his point.

Then, as a Muslim, I didn't really know the significance of his sermon and why he and his ilk refrain from mentioning Olorun at all in their prayers.

Later, when I started researching the history of the Yoruba traditional religion and Islam, that was when I understood what he was saying at that time.

The stark differences between Olorun and Allah became clear.

Thus, it was obvious that any Yoruba Muslims praying to Olorun thinking he's the same as Allah is nothing but a pagan, and that's why those Yoruba Islamist fundamentalists don't mention Olorun at all in their prayers.

Olorun Eledumare is a pagan god of Yorubas, completely different from Allah, the native god of Arabs.
