I feel bad for John wall too. Maybe Philly, maybe Brooklyn. But if you are a GM you have to ask yourself do you really want this headache? If you give up the house for him and he doesn't extend you're all types of bleeped. Honestly the Rockets should just sit him till they find a trade partner. Playing him after that presser would be sabotage. Get all the teams to come with their best deals. Pick the best one and move forward That roster shouldn't be 3-7. OKC is probably the worst roster in the West and they still have 5 wins |

nihilistjnr: Twiiter did not say it was a culmination of anything - The said specifically that they banned Trump for those two tweets.
Look, if Twitter were really concerned about Trump inciting violence, that tweeted threat to a Nuclear Super Power should have been enough to ban him. The Threat to shoot BLM protesters should be enough to ban him especially as white supremacists actually went on to shoot and kill black protesters.
Twiiter did nothing.
This level of coordinated action from parties who either had previously either actively refused to police Trump(facebook) or turned a blind eye(twitter), were under threat of being sold(TikTok) or only God know's what(Spotify, Shopify, Reddit, Pornhub) must be triggered by something far more serious than the excuse that Trump has been inciting a mob.
The man came to power on the slogan 'drain the swamp'. It didnt take 4 years for the world to realise Trump was a neo-fascist piece of shyttt...so why is this action happening now? In such coordinated manner? And should these companies whose owners have clear political bias really have this kind of power?
This is my own concern, not whether Trump is a piece of shytt. They don't need to say it. You should be able to read the fine print that after what happened last week there was some need for a reaction. Trump's defiant response was just the alibi needed. I have told you before that banning a sitting US President still eligible for reelection is naïve. You're being unrealistic if you expected such an outcome. Trump is always and has always been that lousy neighbor, gf, teammate etc that you tolerate till you don't have to anymore. What you see from other so-called platforms is a form of esprit de corps. You don't want to be the one that didn't kick out a President that led an insurrection on his own country. Same way we saw Merkel lament Trump's ban. There is esprit de corps in all industries for the most part. When have these companies and Captains of industries with political biases not had this power? Which kin JJC yarnin be this Bros Now my question to you is why are Trump's known associates also abandoning him. Is Bill Belichick also in on this plot? Deutsche Bank? Signature Bank? Or were they enabling his excesses till the point they didn't have to anymore or they could do so without consequences. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/social-media/facebook-youtube-twitter-remove-video-trump-amid-chaos-capitol-n1253157He was enabled till he could be enabled no more |

Ibime: Zuckerberg wanted to step out of policing politics on his platform simply because of the cost of doing so (hiring a lot more fact checkers, Facebook police etc) and for the fact that it would absolve him of the Cambridge Analytica scandal by taking a position that we just don't police.
Make no mistake, Zuck is very anti-Trump. His wife is Chinese and his children speak mandarin, and I'm sure they can't stomach Trump's anti-Chinese rhetoric. But the guy just dey separate Business from personal, although they hired a lot of Facebook police to police right-wing groups, infact 10 times more than Twitter but he never challenges Trump directly, same with Bezos. It was Zuck that busted the kidnap plot on Michigan Governor by monitoring right-wing groups on Facebook for example. So basically he's a bit more measured and less of a radical than Jack. nihilistjnr: This is why we're questioning what's going on, because this is too coordinated to be a result of some protest. If you're looking primarily at Twitter, I am not.
Did you read the Tweets Twitter banned Trump for?
These are the tweets 1:
2:
Are you honestly telling me that these are the tweets that broke the camels back? What rules did these break really?
In the past this man has tweeted that he will physically beat up Joe Biden:
tweeted a threat to start a war with Iran:
tweeted that congresswomen of colour should go back 'home' ,
tweeted when the looting starts the shooting starts during BLM....
but was he taken off twitter? No. Were the posts hidden? No.
But it's now that he said he's not going to inauguration, that the camel's back broke., and somehow backs of all the camels at all other tech companies broke at the exact same time.
Stop it my guy.
Instead maybe we should look at what Biden thinks about regulating Social Media
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/01/17/opinion/joe-biden-nytimes-interview.html
Essentially, a man who believes Social Media companies should bear civil and even criminal liability for the posts submitted by their userbase, has just become President of the United States. Not only that, his Party now control both the Senate and the House of Reps.
All of sudden, Big Tech are falling over themselves to ban a known enemy of this new President who could make life difficult for them - bruh that's a very dangerous precedent. Anticipating that a US president still in the middle of his term and still eligible for reelection would be banned is a bit naïve I have told you that the events of last week and a culmination of the past misdeeds of Trump was what led to the ban. I don't recall saying it was about his tweets else this mass boycott of Trump would have started and ended on social media. His banks, PGA, Bill Belichick are they part of Big Tech as well? Section 230 is a double edged sword. If it gets revoked even better, it just means every single thing you tweet would most likely be fact checked. Most likely Trump does not grow to this monster he's become and less nutjobs running amok all over social media |

The man is ready to abuse anyone who is against him which is a very bad character for a president or anyone in authority to have. Even then I have a feeling the criticism against him goes beyond issues of politics like it is something personal. Before Trump ran for president in his first term, did he already have a bad record?
P.S I am not supporting Trump here just trying to make sense of the whole situation. Had Trump conceded he lost an election he actually lost by over 6 million votes, not dragged a whole entire electoral system, health system and legal system down the mud don't you think the criticism would be less harsh? nihilistjnr: I dont think the bolded is true.
Zuckerberg in particular has faced congress grillings around 3-4 times over the last few years and specifically refused to police political statements on Facebook.
This statement below is from Nick Clegg, former Deputy Prime Minister under Cameron...and now Vice-President, Global Affairs and Communications for Facebook https://about.fb.com/news/2019/09/elections-and-political-speech/
The above was facebook's official position in 2019. It is still on their website. Throughout 2020 companies were boycotting facebook for their refusal to police Trump and his followers.
More than 750 companies including Coca-Cola, Hershey and Unilever, Walgreens, Best Buy, Ford and Adidas refused to advertise on Facebook and Insta.
Despite losing a reported 7.5 Billion dollars in ad revenue in 2020, Zuckerberg refused to budge. According to the Washington Post, Zuckerberg said
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/07/03/facebook-advertiser-boycott-hate/
So, please I dont buy the argument that Facebook suddenly developed a conscience. The 5 people that died now are not greater than the number of black people killed to death by racists who no doubt share ideology with Trump. I'm too cynical for that
There's something more sinister at play when Facebook goes against it's own principles to deplatform Trump as part of a coordinated move with the rest of Big Tech.
For one, I can see how the Democrats cleansweep might incentivize Zuckerberg to back the winner, and do what's best..for HIM. Today we like it, but tommorow we might not.
This is the point I'm trying to make. I was speaking primarily about Twitter after all they initiated Trump's ban across other platforms. I don't know too much about Mark Zuckerberg's dealings and political leanings. But I know Jack is a bit more of a conscious cat or a SJW if you will. Now what you need to understand is Trump is Chernobyl right now. This is not about Big Tech again as even vocal supporters of Trump are all backing out on him. His long time friend and supporter Bill Belichick just refused to collect their highest medal for a civilian from Trump, Deutsche Bank a bank that Trump owes hundred of millions of $$, a bank that literally bankrolled the Auschwitz camps say they are done doing business with him. I don't even see why people are doing all sorts of gymnastics to defend Trump as if everything he's facing now is not self inflicted. There was a line that was crossed last Wednesday. Whether you agree or want to downplay it or not. What he promotes is what we saw glimpses of last week and everyone has decided they want no parts of that. It's pretty simple |

afrodoc2: Many people are actually ignorant about what democracy and about how fascism develops.
Trump is not your regular POTUS. He is a lame duck President who is fascist in all but name and used his office and social media to instigate insurrection against the government.
The only reason he is not going to be impeached again is that he is going soon anyway. Everything about Trump speaks of Jim Jones of Guyanatown/Jonestown fame. I'm always wary of leaders with cult like following and cult of personality behavior. They are skilled at evoking undeserving sympathy and that makes them very dangerous. When somebody who bankrupted a Casino is able to convince people that Doctors, Journalists, Lawyers and actual professionals don't know their jobs then you should be worried He might not be as devious as a Hitler, Mussolini or Stalin but he would create just enough of a conducive environment for Neo-Nazism, Fascism and Populist agenda to thrive so that the next in line would be more efficient and they would infiltrate society and leadership positions enough to turn Fascist ideals to a way of life. Trump apologists are conveniently glossing over the fact that he is being rightfully punished for going above and beyond what a President should not do. They are deliberately acting like Trump was not given enough rope as if Jack just banned him because he doesn't like his face and not that Trump actually abused his platform to the point that his stay there was untenable. |

afrodoc2: What the left did in the post-election period is not the same thing as what Trump did, and I don’t think it is comparable.
Trump essentially instigated a populist coup. He invited his followers to the capital with the objective of subverting the democratic process and halting the handover of government extrajudicially.
He had also previously set the tone for the whole situation by being divisive and using social media as a propaganda tool to spread hate and misinformation.
What he did has more similarity to what the Nazis did in the period before Kristallnacht. There is a difference between merely having different political views or holding a different political position AND actively encouraging a mob to interfere with a democratic handover of power.
Now whether Twitter and Facebook should have such censorial power is a different debate. But let’s not minimise Trump’s actions by comparing it to anything the left or indeed the right did after the elections. I find it disturbing that educated minds are conflating the two. Almost feel like I'm in a time machine to Weimar Germany 1933 where people were also reasoning with Hitler and seeing sense in some of his rhetoric. This man went on a one man full on assault on the oldest democracy on the planet. What Trump attempted is what Babangida pulled off. Trump would have annulled that election if he could. But all I see is people playing devil's advocate. |

Why should tech giants arrogate powers to themselves when you know that they're partisan and can decide to do as they wish and pay lobbyists to clean up their mess? Events of last week is enough for this drastic turn. It's not a one off or spur of the moment ban as they made clear. This was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I would ask again. We shouldn't be selective in our pursuant of Justice in as much as I am against free speech granting tech companies right of arbitration is dangerous because they have biases and holding them accountable will be difficult as they can wriggle themselves out of any legal implication by lobbying and prolonging litigation China and Turkey are not worthy examples. Twitter would not even be functional in those countries so I don't see why they are the bastions of Censorship. My question is how much more wiggle room do you suggest these companies should have given Trump to continue his insurrection agenda. Amoto94: Isn't this criminalization of free speech and tech giants being partisan in this regard because for years now some leaders have been making statements dangerous for peace but they didn't take decisive actions against them? The action taken by the tech giants are Orwellian in nature, it has set a dangerous precedent in the sense that countries with capacity but reluctant to build their platforms will now go ahead to build one and force citizens to sign up. Also, allowing tech giants to unilaterally decide what's right and what's wrong is dangerous for civil conversation because once they don't agree with you even if what you're saying is the truth they will remove your content and suspend your account. So your grouse is not even that Trump has done wrong. It's whataboutism. Do you expect Jack to be as vested in other countries as he is in his own?
