There is this casual friend of mine that shares the same office complex with my company. I was surprised to see him in my test centre but unfortunately he didn't make it pass the CBT. Few days before the interview invitations were sent, we met in the complex and he told me to brace for impact which turned out to be true.

Although I knew he has a contact inside the corporation, I never bothered asking him anything since after the interview or even before the lockdown for obvious reasons. But we met today for the first time since the lockdown was lifted and the anxiety surrounding the E.H recruitment couldn't let me to just greet him and pass as usual.

After narrating the E.H ordeal to him, he decided to call his contact in my presence. His contact told him that he has not been to the office since the lockdown as they were told to work from home but that he would call someone in HR that has been going to work. That was how we dismissed in the afternoon.

He called me back now to tell me some of the things I already know, like the virtual resumption of the GTs. In addition, he said that the guy in HR told his friend that the EH cadre is part of the "Project Eagle" and has not been cancelled and that it will be concluded because a lot of spaces has been created since the last recruitment eight years now. They have not received further instruction from the GMD since the lockdown began.

Then my friend went on to add his own opinion that it could be the recruitment embargo and dwindling oil prices that is preventing the GMD from giving any further directive.

I hear some people here advising that we should move on if the corporation fails to contact us this month because that means game over. My advice is simple, you can move on if you want but don't lose hope. If it didn't happen this month, it can still happen in the remaining months ahead.

Keep praying for a speedy end to this pandemic and for oil prices to keep rising.

Thank God Jarus has finally said something.... And I'm happy to see everybody singing with one voice and going the same direction... When Danwani200 announced it 2 weeks ago and mistakenly attached specific dates, I was amongst the first to try shut him up when I told him to say no more... Coz I made the same mistakes and knew what followed when it eventually didn't materialise. Aside from my own experience on this thread after my information was passed, I watched how The MIB's were so ready to devour Danwani that he kept on begging for Jarus Or Panelyst to come online and say something.. It really hurts that genuine people like some of us could get true infos from people we claimed were staffs of the corporation we seek employment into and we come here and drop the info exactly as we were told and even with the dates we were told and when we wait together and nothing happens on those said dates, majority of the thread who were the same people earnestly seeking for info will pounce on you.. It hurts but I'm glad dat Danwani has been vindicated bcoz even though I got exactly the same message from my source last 2 weeks, I refused saying anything but he was the one who still took the risk to say something.. I was particularly glad when not much people attacked him at the end of last week. The wait is ALMOST over (for GT'S), so I want to use this medium to thank every genuine member of this thread who at one time or another passed a legitimate info as he or she got it during this tedious wait of ours, and was abused and criticized for various reasons known to the abusers, you are the unsung heroes.. Your infos kept the dream alive.. No official info has been passed by NNPC since the interview but it's these infos FROM fellow applicants that kept the thread still hoping and made us know that at least the recruitment was still on.. Even when the rumour of cancellation was at a boiling point last year, we (the abused info givers) were here to make the necessary contacts and calls to quash the rumours and calm the atmosphere in the thread. We will not be forgotten.. Based on the latest info (which regards numbers) , I think many of us will get the apl from this thread.. I just can't wait to meet you all in Abuja where we shall hangout and reveal our monikers over chilled drinks...please do well to share your success story as they come, don't recieve ur own and immediately delete ur Nairaland profile and make us feel as if nobody here made it...... Do you know I myself was with my phone in my hands throughout yesterday in the office, jumping at any ring to see if its an email or sms from NNPC.. So if any of dem here think we are not in the same category of hopefuls because I passed a legit info, dat person should think again.. Now I see why legit info guys like Cavalier and Co have stopped putting any effort here... And as for coming for my head,, it's a small issue, wen that time comes, they'll realize I also know how to type dirty!!!
