I just stumbled into this when I travelled to Abuja yesterday evening along one plaza in Jabi. I was confused when I first sighted it and couldn't hold my curiosity and asked a passerby; ' Please, how much is a litre of PMS in this city?'
Very funny. But op u can lie oh. Instead of saying u saw the picture online and decided to share, there's no crime in that. This picture has been online for a long time.

What is cruise control? Is the same thing as Over Drive off/on? What is purpose of Overdrive off/on?
Cruise control and overdrive on/off are 2 different things. Overdrive on/off is used to prevent the car from selecting the highest gear. For example, if ur car is 4 speed automatic, having overdrive off will prevent the car from shifting to the 4th gear, that is it won't shift past gear 3. It will let the car hold on to lower gears until high rev than in overdrive. Useful when going up a hill and ur car loses power at higher gears, having overdrive off will let the car maintain lower gears until ur rpm is higher.

Cruise control on the other hand is useful on highway especially when there are less cars on the road. It let's u maintain a predefined speed without having to press the accelerator, this greatly helps improving ur fuel economy. It can only be activated at about 60km/hr upwards. The switch is always located on the steering wheel, (some Camry models have it beside the steering where the turn signal is). Let's say u want to maintain a speed of 100km/hr, once u get to that speed, activate ur cruise control, then remove ur leg from the accelerator. The car will drive itself, the ecu will input the right gear and rpm to maintain that speed. All u have to do is steer, u only have to press the brake when necessary, but once u press the brake, the cruise is reset and u have to set it again. However, if u have adaptive cruise control, then ur car will control both acceleration and braking for u once it senses a car in front of u depending on the set distance, all u have to do is steer. Don't try this in city driving though.
Car TalkRe: What Would Make The Fuel Consumption Of A Car Shoot Up by abatically(m): 2:03am On May 20, 2015
A lot of things can be responsible. O2 sensors, injectors. Ecs, Tyre size, Tyre psi, bad thermostat or absence of thermostat, engine running rich due to spark plugs, coils, engine temperature not getting to operating temperature because fans have been connected directly and thermostat removed; catalytic converter, etc etc.

What engine size do u have and what mpg are u getting? Do u have a check engine light on, have u scanned the car?

PhonesRe: 1gbps Internet Connection - 1GB In 10 SECONDS!! Believe Or Not by abatically(m): 8:24pm On May 19, 2015
Pretty fast no doubt. This is not a new thing in advanced countries though. But don't think u will download 1gb data in 1 second, its not calculated like that.

1 byte=8 bits.

So a speed of 1gbps at full throttle will be able to download about 125mb of data in 1 second. When u add traffic loss it might come down to about 100mb of data download in 1 sec.

Car TalkRe: Car Aircondition (AC) And Fuel Consumption by abatically(m): 11:14am On May 18, 2015
Driving in traffic with ac on is a major fuel sucker, especially on a hot afternoon. Ironically that is the most important time to use ur ac because of he hot weather. U might end up using 2 times the amount of fuel in a 2 hours drive in traffic depending on driving condition. On the highway however, it is different, again depending on driving conditions. U will use more fuel if u have a heavy foot and like to accelerate and then brake all the time. U will use less fuel if u take things easy and use ur cruise control on freeways.

Car TalkRe: Honda Accord 2004(EOD-V4) Transmission Issues by abatically(m): 2:11pm On May 17, 2015
Get a tokunbo gearbox, its about 70k now. I know this sounds harsh, but most if the times when this kind of things happen to a Honda (especially EOD), changing the transmission becomes the safest option. U can still scan the car to be sure, but dextron iii that u have in there is not the right atf, changing to z1 might already be too late.

Moreover u might not find z1 because it has been discontinued by Honda, they replaced it with dw1. One quart is N2,500, u will need 5-6 quarts which is 15k. Dextron iii is for temporary use, and if dextron iii is already slipping, then better change the tranny and fill with dw1.

Bro your submission is despicable I must say and I am sorry for that

Does it mean or are u saying that brand new cars don't overheat....they are cars and man made ..so they might OVERHEAT
Dude, all cars will overheat if something goes wrong with the cooling system. A brand new car with radiator cap removed will overheat. A brand new car with a blown fan fuse will overheat. A brand new car with air bubbles in the system will overheat. But thermostat removal is not the solution to overheating.

This op obviously doesn't know the meaning of 'fatal accident'. And those saying 'rest in peace to the dead', there was no confirmation of anyone dying. Its like that phrase 'rest in peace to the dead' is becoming too common on this forum and people are too quick to use it. Yes it was an accident but I don't think anyone could die in this. We all need to be careful and prayerful when on the road.

The question is why is it higher in Honda cars ..for every 10 the tyre pulls out 8 are Honda cars

Why
Honda leg pulling only happens in Nigeria and its mainly due to negligence and using substandard parts. U can use fake parts on Honda but DONT EVER USE FAKE BALL JOINTS. I have never seen a Honda leg pull in the states, and Honda leg pulling is not even an issue in consumer reports because it almost doesn't exist. OEM ball joints will give u a sign before it pulls, now if u ignore the sign then u can't blame Honda when it disappoints u in the middle of nowhere.

Well, so maybe this is where ur tropicalization comes in, but the only way to avoid Honda leg pull in Nigeria is to stick to OEM parts. So u see, factory settings still wins.

Have you ever heard the word ..winterization. if you havent pls research ....
We are jot saying u can't modify ur cars to get ready for the weather, but on no occasion should u mess with ur cooling system especially in a modern car. U can get ur car ready for winter, but don't mess with the cooling system.

For winter u can do the following to get ur car ready.

1. Changing to winter tires
2. Making sure ur antifreeze level is intact. A 50/50 coolant mix is required for normal driving, but during winter u can change to 60/40.
3.changing ur wipers to winter wiper blades that can cut through snow.
4. Checking the spray nuzzle of ur wiper system.
5. Etc etc etc. BUT DO NOT MESS WITH UR COOLING SYSTEM.

I have seen a 2 years old brand new car over heat. i.e. A car bought as tear rubber, but over heated after 2 years.

I have seen 3 year old over heating...

Yes Brand new cars over heat but not in the first year (Maybe)
A lot can happen to a car withing 1 day of purchase. 2 years is a long time. In fact if u buy a brand new car, take it to ur home and the next day u open the hood ro check ur radiator, then forgot to tighten the cover, and drove off. Tell me won't it overheat? So then is it possible for a day old brand new car to overheat? The answer is YES.

I had this problem. It happened in one crazy traffic, my radiator just busted open and the water escaped.

My mechanic sealed my radiator. Reset the engine, and my car started again.

1 week later, the heat meter started reading to red (meaning its over heating)

I called another mechanic who recommended I should buy a double cell radiator.

he removed the thermostat.

My car is working fine now.

However, he said I should not use AC for now, that I should change my radiator fan. he claimed the radiator fan is not strong enough.

How true is this?

And also, I noticed that my engine is now high. Why is this? Is any harm in this?

I love this thread. Its about my car.
The reason ur engine is running high is because ur car never gets to its operating temperature, its very simple. This is because ur thermostat was removed and u probably installed a double cell radiator and ur fans have been connected to run constantly. This way water constantly flows in and out of ur engine which keeps it too cool (engines are meant to run hot at certain temperature range). Your car is running rich and consuming more fuel. Your car will only run normal when the temperature gets to its optimum.

Ever wondered why cars run high at first start in the day? (especially cars on factory specs). This is to warm up the engine and catalytic converter. The thermostat is closed which makes the engine warm faster so that within 2 mins the car will gets to its operating temperature and the rpm will normalize.

Pure lie it depends on d car mine gets to operating temp in 10min on a hot day n abt 15min on a rainy day/cold day.

Theory is different frm practical esp wen ur car is 10yrs n older n dts wat some ppl dnt kw

Am nt a party to double cell radiator stuff.
With a single cell radiator, thermostat removed and fans spinning constantly u will get to operating temperature within 20 mins , but depending on the car, ur temperature might struggle stay there when u are cruizing on the highway at 120km/hr. It gets even worse when u have a double cell radiator installed as u might never get to that optimum temperature.

My man u r coping so far no body overheating grin grin

A car with thermostat removed n fan spinning constantly hits operating temp in less than 10mins of driving on a hot day n less than 15mins on a cold day. Thermostat opens at some point n fan spins at some point during driving sooo

All these arguments r needless, ppl shld stick with wateva works for them.

If u can run ur car on factory specs d best if nt do d needful if overheating disturbs u.
U are right but only to some extent. A car with thermostat removed and fan spinning constantly might eventually get to its operating temperature on a hot day but might take up to 30 mins to 1hr of driving. So what if I commute only short distances, say I drive for only 15-20 mins, that means I will constantly run rich and my car will never get to it's optimum temperature, not good for my engine.

U should also know that a car with thermostat removed, fans spinning constantly, coupled with a double cell radiator WILL NEVER get to its operating temperature no matter how long u drive it. Trust me I know what I'm saying.

Is disconnecting the check engine light also part of ur tropicalization? U realize thermostat removal will trigger the check engine light in some cars. So what do u do about that, do u also yank off the check engine light? Or are u one of those that says check engine light doesn't mean anything?
