weyreypey:Oga, those Germans make good cars no doubt but reliability is not in their dictionary. Japanese cars are more reliable and it has been proven over and over. How many regular Benz and vw beetle do u see on the roads? U must also have in mind that those years when they ruled was before the boom of the Japanese auto market. So technically in the 70's and 80's there were more Mercedes, Peugeot, vw and Volvo on Nigerian roads than Toyota, Honda , hyundai and KIA. Fast forward many years and the story has really changed because those Japanese and korean cars are getting better and better. Just take a trip to owode and see all those expensive German cars being butchered for parts. |
Sijo01:Poor Man's comment lol. Trust me when u become very rich ur comment will CHANGE. |
GAZZUZZ:Exactly what a kazeem did to my brother's Honda accord and ruined the idling. Took a lot of work to discover it and revert it. |
Mishydoo:Looks like ur car checks out good afterall |
d33types:As usual here they come. Just like I expected. Jim Travers was a renowned journalist who wrote for consumer reports, people that actually carry out surveys and test every car to their limits. People at consumer reports have driven more cars than u can ever dream of in ur lifetime. So who's word against who? Someone that drives a particular brand and sits behind a keyboard to write jargons, vs who? No need to say more. |
Mishydoo:Invalid vin |
Castrol 5w30 synthetic blend would certainly go 6,000 miles. 2,500km is just about 1,550 miles which is nothing. I don't know what kind of car u drive but I have never seen a modern car where manufacturers recommend oil change every 3 months, I may be wrong though. Changing a synthetic oil every 3 months is a RIP OFF. I'd rather use conventional oil then. I use 5w20 on my car and change at about 4,500 miles (that's about 7,000km). Manufacturers reccomend 6,000 miles but I change at 4,500 miles just to be on a safer side. Driving conditions here with all the dust and traffic doesn't help. |
helovesme:What's the big deal about standing in the front row? Its obvious if he was on the back row u would scream 'why is he on the back row?'. |
Ebi4life:And amasco oil rating is what? 70w100? |
Its a German machine |
My friend use radiator coolant and stop being smarter than car manufacturers that spent years of research trying to find out what's best for ur car. Its not as if radiator coolant is a scarce commodity. |
eaglechild:Majority of Nigerian owners don't know and don't care if Toyota is killing the venza. |
1. Because owners want to upgrade. 2. Because some of the previous owners hit money and bought them. Now they are broke and want to sell them off when maintenance became a problem. 3. Because lots of people bought them. It is a beautiful and popular car so it is very logical u will see many of them up for sale. 4.Just ur imagination. Reason being because u are planning to buy one and ur trying to be cautious, so it would look as if previous owners are trying to get rid of them. Now just make up ur mind that u are no longer interested in the venza, let's say ur planning to buy a Honda EOD. Then tell me if it won't look like there are too many EODs up for sale. |
domack99:Very correct. If a clean title car is selling for 2 million, a salvage will sell for like 1.8 million. Technically it looks cheaper, but in reality the salvaged car is mee expensive considering the fact that it was bought a lot cheaper than the clean title even with the repair costs. But trust the buyers, a dealer that sells salvaged cars for 1.8m would probably sell 4 cars before the clean title dealer sells one for 2 million. In business world, it is only logical to follow the trend. An honest businessman is not always the most successful. |
Because Nigerians don't like the truth, they want to get the very best cars for peanuts which is not possible anywhere on the planet. I have a friend who is a car dealer, in the past he buys clean title cars but he hardly sell them at good price. In fact he sells them at a loss while other car dealers that sell salvaged cars are making money. A clean title car can cost twice (or more) the price of the same car that is salvaged. When both cars get to Nigeria people expect to buy them at the same price. So that is where the problem comes in. If I bring in a clean car and display it for 2 million. Another dealer beings in the same car salvaged, gets it fixed with cheap materials and displays it for 1.7 million. People will patronize him while mine can be there for more than 1 year without anyone buying it. Vin numbers will show history for the car, whether it has been involved in an accident, last odometer reading, etc. The truth is 90% of buyers are not interested in that, they just want a car that looks clean and cheap too. My friend still bring in clean title cars, BUT only on pre orders. He has vowed never to use his money to buy a clean title car for resell, especially popular brands like Camry, Lexus and Honda. |
princeofpeace22:Buhari has been president for less than a week. Cut the old man some slack. Change doesn't come overnight bro. Even if Obama was the president, there's very little he can do within a week. Suicide bombing is not something u could fight or stop easily, u never know who is carrying the bomb or where it is coming from or where the next target is. These suicide bombers have been brainwashed and they probably already planned this attack months ago. Even if the army goes to boko harm headquarters and kill them all, it won't stop the bombing as the suicide bombers are not boko harm soldiers. They are people that have been brainwashed (these days they even use women) and they live among us like normal people. They believe suicide bombing will make God forgive them their sins. The only logical way to stop this is to get to the root, get their leaders to surrender or kill them which I believe is one of the things buhari went to niger to do. U must know lots of these boko harm soldiers and bombers are not niegerians, many of them are Chadians and from Niger. So brother, even if Obama and the queen of England are Nigeria president right now, it won't stop suicide bombings overnight. |
shadowgwalker:Nigerians can complain. That airport road has caused so many accidents than any other road in Nigeria in a single calendar year. Reason is mainly because of overspending and drivers driving recklessly. If this is the way to reduce the accidents then so be it. I hate to say this but we Africans behave like monkeys sometimes and only iron hands can tame us. We refuse to follow simple instructions. We always want to jump the queue. Only an iron can sharpen an iron, we need iron hands in this country to be sincere. |
ojimbo:Ur own gbagaun sef don pass her own. |
chu14:If u don't mind the tail and headlamps, if u don't care about DRL then its OK. Also if u don't mind manual seats vs electric seats on LE models. Then if it is xle, if u don't mind having 'fake' wood grain on xle model. Also the xle model has premium jbl audio, so if that is not ur cup of tea then all is well. |
Nothing much really, just some mumble jumble upgrades u don't want to know about, most notably is the front and rear lights. There is proved CD player on the 2001 model. Shat else, the xle got standard 16 inch tyres. The LE Model also got power seats, 3 extra HP on the 4 cylinder model. Also there is optional jbl premium audio and imitation wood trim. Oh there's also day running lights on some LE models. |
vokalguy:The thing tire me. Too much juvenile threads on Nairaland these days. And the mods push silly threads to front page. Imagine a foreigner reading Nairaland would think Nigerians are draft. |
This op must be a learner. He is listening to an interpreter . Official language in Niger is French. Let me guess, the people in the picture below are also listeming to music right?
|
amanikondo:Assembled in china or made in China, the fact is the finished product came out of china. This proves my point that china will give u products according to the specs u want. If u pay peanut they give u fake, pay real money they give u the real thing. 70% of household electronics are made in china. What do we assemble or make in Nigeria? China is 1 million times better than Nigeria.

swaggerkid:U are very right. |
chillex8:U are not missing anything. There are xle camrys that are not v6. |
peeparty:Nairaland censor for u. Try typing the word pi.mp without the full stop. Post it in a comment, go read the comment and see what the website changes it to. |
Ur brake fluid is showing minimum level, why not top it and then examine if the light goes off. |
psych1:If u are thinking like this then better get a car with manual transmission. At least they hardly give problems. |
justi4jesu:Bros, name a professional that allows his clients to go with him to get materials. Lets say u are having a wedding and give a contract to a wedding planner, do u also go with him/her to get materials? u can as well do the decoration and planning urself. When u are upcoming u accept every shyte because u are looking for clients, but once u become a professional, then u have to be professional in the way u deal with clients. |
DuchessLily:At the bolted, tell me that's a hyperbole. |
