tonychristopher:Na, I don't need to. Factory specs works just perfect for me. tonychristopher:This guy u sabi dribble pass messi I swear. First u claimed Dubai is not tropical region, or that it is not as hot as Nigeria. U knew u blabbed and now u switched reason to the fact that Dubai doesn't have traffic jam or they have good roads. Lol Dubai alone does not make up UAE. There are deserts and remote areas with lots of dust that triple what we have here in Nigeria. Yet they have thermostats in their cars. I have a friend who is a Toyota dealership, all the Toyota cars in his shop are UAE imports, from the smallest yaris to landruiser. Guess what, all of them have thermostat. |
tonychristopher:How come u no longer include thermostat removal as u stated in ur original post? |
ogawisdom:Lol, very funny. It might be difficult to run a car on factory specs in Nigeria, but in the case of thermostat removal, I don't really see what is difficult about that. Thermostat or fans running inteminently DO NOT CAUSE OVERHEATING. Jeez do u also remove the thermostat in ur pressing iron? |
tonychristopher:Dubai has a tropical desert climate, which means it is hotter than Nigeria. U based ur tropicalization argument on temperature and humidity. Right now temperature is Dubai is 41 degrees Celsius, way hotter than kano. So if cars in a desert climate like Dubai can have thermostat, then why would someone in Nigeria wants to remove his thermostat? |
Why would someone even consider a Honda Odyssey for transport? Not saying its a bad car but for transport? Don't even try it. The transmission is sensitive. And Nissan quest? Op get urself a sienna or Mazda MPV. |
tonychristopher:Dude u are trying to dodge the question. Let me quote u again. tonychristopher:So I ask u again, would u call UAE (Dubai) temperate or tropical? Because cars from Dubai come with thermostat. In ur statement u said thermostats are for cars in the temperate and not tropical regions. So can u explain to us how come cars from the UAE have thermostat? And temperatures and humidity in UAE are higher than Nigeria. |
tonychristopher:Let me ask u one simple question. What would u call UAE (Dubai)? Temperate or tropical? Temperarure and and humidity in Nigeria is child's play compared to UAE. So then why does my uncle's Toyota highlander which was a Dubai import come with a thermostat pre installed? Mind u, most of the bank type Toyota corolla are all built for Dubai market; they come with thermostat and their fans don't spin every time. |
ogawisdom:Glad u know. Just that ur initial statement sounded like removal of thermostat and connecting fans directly is the ULTIMATE solution to overheating. |

tonychristopher:My car came from Canada, single cell radiator, thermostat intact and fans don't spin unless when required. I can guarantee u that this car will not overheat even if u take it to the Sahara. And I am almost sure that ur car will overheat before mine does. The reason cars overheat in this country is due to laziness and negligence. Just last week my mechanic went to tow a 2004 Honda accord with a blown head gasket. The owner drove the car until the temperature got to the red zone and he didn't even notice. He drove the car until the car stopped on its own when it could no longer handle the temperature. If u ask me anyone that drives a car until it overheats and stops working is not worthy to own a car. People drive without paying attention to the temperature gauge, they put only water in their radiator because they are lazy . so they choose the easy route which is bypassing the fan, removing thermostat and installing double cell radiator. That way they will never have to keep an eye on the temperature gauge because it will barely rise. |
ogawisdom:Wrong. A car with thermostat removed and fan running steadily but with a bad water pump will still overheat. A car with bad radiator cap will overheat even with quadruple cell radiator and quadruple fans spinning non stop. |
Nigerians can misuse Ac. Not saying the ac killed the baby, but almost all ac gas what we call climate control. It is meant to control the temperature u desire ur room to be in. Someone posted above me that 16 degrees is not too much, are u kidding me, 16degrees for a new born? I've been to many homes and they always keep their ac at the coolest, some don't even know the temperature can be controlled, same thing with car ac. When my child was born we always put on the ac, but the temperature is always left at 20 degrees during the day with fan set at low, and then between 24-26 degrees at night. That is enough to keep the baby's temperature at optimum. |
Somebody said he's been running 20w50 for 2 years and I laugh. What about the oyinbo man that has been using that car for 15 years before it was imported? Using wrong oil will not have immediate effect in ur engine, but will surely lower its life span. If that white man was running 20w50 I'm sure the car wouldn't have survived the 15 years |
ERCROSS:Relax, we are not there yet. U can't expect them to give such a huge and sensitive contract to a local company. We can't even build an engine in this country yet (Most of Innoson parts are imported from China). And we all know how roads and buildings constructed by local contractors compare with the ones executed by foreign companies. Even in advanced countries, they give contracts to foreign firms with better experience and equipment than local firms. A good example is the Apple which is a USA company. The Iphone 6 camera has Sony (A Japanese company) sensors and LG (Japanese) display. Also the phone was assembled in China. It is not a crime to give contracts to foreign companies especially when u know they will do a better job than the locals. U are asking for such huge contract to be given to graduates? U mean those that barely know theory and little to nothing about practicals? I'm a graduate of science and I can tell u our technical schools are nothing to write home about. We pay too much attention to theory and very little to practicals. In reality, theory ends in school while practicals is what u take out there. |
atarapa:Very Possible. The 2004 Ferrari Enzo below is sold for $500,000 which is roughly 100m naira. Some used cars cost more than that. When u add shipping and clearing that would amount to about 108m.
|
IYANGBALI:This is why our IQ in this country is very low. A dead baby was found under the bridge and everyone concludes it was dumped by the mother. smh. |
MarvellousGod:U people should try to see things from different perspective. Nobody knows if the baby was dumped there by the mother or even a woman. The mother might be dead, or the baby might be stolen, etc etc. Does that still make the mother heartless? |
WukedP:How did u know it was dropped by a woman? Were u there? |
missKiffy:Range Rover sha? Even Land Rover themselves know they did not build the range rover to last, They are meant for the rich who buy them and enjoy them when still new. I will not advice anyone to buy a 5 year old Range Rover. |
Between 550k - 100 million naira. |
izuch:Scan ur car, the codes will lead u to the problem. Then clear the codes. |
xreal:Must u be tribalistic about everything? So it is written on somebody's face if he is ijebu or egba? Grow up already, what is bad is bad, people lot their lives. RIP to the dead. |
Ur mechanic might be right. The thermostat must have been removed which makes the fan run non stop once ur ac is turned on. The way the cooling system works, when thermostat is open, it allows water from the radiator flow through the engine, which signals the engine coolant sensor and activates the cooling fans. Without thermostat water will be flowing in and out non stop, hence the fans would be working non stop. The fans stop working when the thermostat is closed. |
MRBrownJ:U don't get it do u? The repeated warnings everywhere is to instinct fear on the drug peddlers and make them realize they are SERIOUS. When someone reads that at the arrival, then he gets to customs and still see the warning everywhere at the airport, no doubt a little fear would get into him. Fear means nervous, and nervous means easily suspected and subsequently caught. Trust me it works. Let me give u an illustration, let's say u wake up in the morning, checked ur phone and saw a text message from an unknown sender and the message reads ' DO NOT SIT ON UR OFFICE CHAIR TODAY OR U DIE'. If u are someone like me, u won't take it serious, u would think its just a silly prank. So u took ur shower and head out to work, at the bus stop someone u haven't met before approached u, and said the sane thing to u. Then u would be like 'what the hell is going on'? U got to office and the security man told u the same thing, and u got to the reception and the receptionist told u the same thing. So tell me what would u do? Wouldn't u be at least scared (even for a little bit), and would u still go ahead and sit on the chair without at least praying? That is the logic. If a drug peddler sees the warning on his Visa , he might not take it serious. But when the pilot announces it as he's about getting off the plane, he would start thinking. Then he sees it written allover the airport, then he would definitely know they mean business. |
MeAboki:Who go follow u say amin? If u be God I swear everybody for don die. Do u want to tell me u are saint and u don't sin? So why haven't God killed u? Let them face their punishment here on earth, as for eternal fire in hell, why not let God be the judge to that? |
MRBrownJ:U might have a valid point, but saying those warnings are useless is FALSE. A lot of these peddlers are not first timers. So let's say they did it for the first time, saw the warnings at the airport and let's say it was too late to turn back. Luckily they escaped, made some money and come back home. Then they still go back another time not minding the warnings and then they are caught. Would u still say they have not been warned? |
IdiAmin1:And how did u know the law was not there as of the time they were caught? U can't just write based on speculations. They had 2 australians and the Australia govt tried its best to save them. Do u think if the law wasn't in the constitution by the time they were caught then the execution would have occurred? They went to court and were found GUILTY. Stop being overly sebtimental. |
MRBrownJ:It is also written in RED in the Malaysia and probably Indonesia tourist visas. Really anyone on death row for drugs has no excuse. U see the warning in the visa, u see the warning at different sections of the airport, they even announce it in the plane, so what other excuse do u have?
|
KanwuliaJara:I get it. U are from south west, so am I. Today it is ur turn to take a Swype at the Igbos, but trust me very soon a crime committed by a Yoruba tribe will be reported abroad and the igbos will come here and take turn. For how long will u continue with this? |
KanwuliaJara:Don't bring tribalism into this. Lots of Nigerians are committing crimes abroad all in the name of hustling, na who dem catch u go see. In fact the only tribe that behaves (to some extent) abroad are the Hausas. U hardly hear about their crimes abroad. Its time we love ourselves in this country, forget tribalism. An Igbo man commits crime in UK today, tomorrow it will be a Yoruba man so what are u saying? Or didn't u see a Yoruba man was one of the Indonesia 9? The only people that are free here are the Hausas. We hate ourselves more than the white man hates us, and tomorrow we will be the first to shout RACISM whenever things don't go our ways abroad. SMH. If we hate ourselves this much, then how can we love foreigners the way they love us when we visit their countries? Believe me our own will be a lot more than mere RACISM if tables were to turn and our countries become like the white man's while theirs become like ours. But then, since we don't love ourselves, our country can never be like theirs. |
