U are right. But when u take ur car places like automedics or Honda place, do u also follow them to get parts? It is a simple policy, if someone says u can't follow them to get parts, there are 2 choices. Either u accept, or u disagree and take ur car elsewhere. It doesn't mean the mechanic is a bad person.

The story is transparent enough. Some mechanics don't allow customers go with them to buy an engine which is understandable. Gazzuzz admitted that. Some customers can be very funny when they follow a mechanic to buy parts, they always have this thing behind their mind that they are being cheated which could be embarrassing. Afterall, u can't take ur car to Honda place or automedics and tell them u want to go with them to get parts. Just pay the fare and let them do their job, if u are not OK with that then take ur car elsewhere, simple.

I personally do not follow my mechanic to buy parts, either I give him money to get it for me or I go get it myself.

If u want ur car to be fixed on lower budget then u need to endorse the act of DIY. I'm not saying u should turn to a mechanic, but u should at least have basic knowledge on how ur car works. U can't just drop ur car with a mechanic and he brings it back to u without u knowing what was wrong with it, what he fixed or changed. Also get urself a scanner, there are cheap ones that are less than 10k. Get the codes and start troubleshooting from there.

U said ur car is giving problems. What did the mechanic tell u was wrong with the car? How do I expect people to help with limited information?

Who told you the engine in the xterra isn't stronger than that of the lexus and you think the Rx is faster abi, u never jam turbocharged Xterra, another uninformed crap, the first and 2nd generation xterra engine are solidly built and will with stand anything as long as it is used by the book.

Op the exterra was designed for an off road experience and has a very good ground clearance it will withstand bad terrain the 2nd gen 2004 upwards engine is prone to a failure which can be rectified by by passing the radiator to avoid engine failure.

The Lexus Rx330 is a luxurious cross over utility vehicle, can withstand minor offroad challenges, has effizy more than the Xterra but in deciding which one to buy, location of usage must be put in mind and disposable cash.

Maintaining and parts of a lexus don't come cheap afterall you buying a premium vehicle.

Oga, there's no way a truck like Nissan xterra can be faster than an rx330.

If u are using a simple scanner like elm327, then it can only read codes on engine and transmission. For abs, airbag, etc u are going to need a more advanced scanner. Since scanner communicates with the engine then there's nothing wrong with ur obd ii port.

Yes Tesla is full electric, beautiful, classy, but expensive.

Oh, u forgot to mention buyers should also build their own power station, even a mikano generator will not charge that thing. Let's say u live in Lagos, u have to build a power station in Lagos, then build another one in Onitsha, lokoja, kano and other parts of the country in case u want to travel with the car because it won't go more than 220 miles on a full charge. And God forbid u get stranded in a long traffic and u run out of power, na tow dem go use carry u comot there .

The main question should be how long before it gets from zero to a full charge. Then how many kilometers can it travel on a full charge? What happens when the sun doesn't shine for the whole day? Even full time electric cars have their limitations as it takes hours to charge fully (and electric charges faster than solar, even a tesla with supercharger takes like an hour to charge fully and will go only about 200 miles then u will need to recharge).

Button line is, the world ain't ready for solar cars yet. Even electric cars are not a worldwide thing yet, solar cars are just prototypes. Nothing beats fuel car in Nigeria.
