Thanks...cool,good to know. 40manlappy: Thanks for sharing
Just to clarify the "highest qualification" issue with a practical experience as requested: My wife (the PA) evaluated her highest qualification only with IQAS and got the full points for skill transferability. This is consistent with IRCC's guidelines.
Wish you success in your next move. |

Abby2017: Hello e-fam, PPR is here!
LONG POST ALERT! Alaroye is here TIMELINE FSW outland Family size- 2 IELTS- Nov.2016 ECA application- Dec 2016 ECA report-April 2017 EE profile/pool- 3rd May ITA- 4th May AOR-21st June Medical passed-15th July BGC IP1- 15th July BGC NA- 19th July BGC IP2- 30th August (Around 10pm) PPR mail- 31st August (12.30am) Visa office-unknown Travel history-none
Alhamdulillah!!! We give God all the glory.
IELTS Result came in December and I had 8,7,7.5,7 Serious research on Canada PR didn't start until I sat for IELTS, all I knew before then was- I want to go to Canada and good IELTS score is the starting point. So I prepared for the test with a state of mind that I must pass reasonably, had no idea of how 8 is better than 7.5 on the CRS tool. I just prepared well & never underestimated the exam. I believe all exams (no matter how simple it may seem) have principles one must understand. Also, there is no exam too easy to leave out of prayer point, even the mighty can fall in strange ways. Kudos to the gurus getting mad scores like 9988, how una dey do am?
ECA I read the best I could read from CIC website every day from the day I sat for IELTS and didn't even know about this thread then. I just google-check when I have doubts and this thread usually top the search results, kudos to everyone...that was how I started visiting. I decided to use WES for my ECA for some odd reasons, perhaps cos IQAS redirected me to one Alberta webpage like that and I was there like 'why a province page' lol. Also I figured WES should be useful in the future because of different category of ECA I found on their page. I didn't even give the other ones (ICAS or ICES or...) a thought cos of their processing time, when it is not free of charge fa. My ECA took 4months because I was "jonzing". I believed ETX-NG will process my transcript online so I didn't go to the school to influence it on time. My transcript got ready and delivered to WES within 4days of influencing it. Their excuse was "we can't locate your file", so my brother did the file search himself.
I actually evaluated both Bsc and Msc, that was what I thought to do to the best of my understanding. Here is why (culled from CIC website) "If your assessment report shows that your completed foreign credential is equal to a completed Canadian one, you can include this information in your Express Entry profile. You will get points under the CRS for your highest credential found equal to a completed Canadian one" (this part explains getting point for the highest degree)...moving on... "You may be eligible to receive points for certain combinations of two post-secondary credentials (whether Canadian, foreign equivalent or a combination of both). If you are invited to apply for permanent residence, you will need to include your ECA reference number when you apply" (this part explains the first 50marks under skill transferability factor with good English test, which I believe I would have gotten 25marks for if I didn't provide ECA for my Bsc, I wasn't ready to take chances). I would like someone who evaluated highest credential only and got the full points under skill transferability factor to weigh in, I want to believe people that advocate evaluating only highest credential have their reasons. But this is my own understanding of it which can possibly help someone looking for all the scores she can have.
WES completed my ECA in exactly 20business days after receiving all documents and institution verification. So before we complain about WES, I will say we should learn to fix the issues in our naija insitutions with lots of crap before taking our complaints up on other issuing authorities that have rules and follow most (if not all) of them.
WEDDING REGISTRY I have included this on my timeline because it happened along the line and people usually ask at what point they should get married during the EE process. As much as it is a personal decision to make, it should be pre-planned as getting married at some point in the application process can complicate things and give small headache. Yes, we had plans of getting married, EE only brought the registry date closer than our imagination.
I had calculated my score as single and as married (without spouse ECA&IELTS). With the way the trend was, the score as married was sufficient to get us an ITA-445 We went to court like 3 weeks after ECA report came and before entering the pool because I was almost certain that score will get us an ITA. We were not ready for the part of having to notify CIC of change in status, adding required documents, the anxiety of their response and whatever delay comes with change of status. So we just did court wedding and faced the whole journey together. Getting married post AOR or Post PPR is not bad either, it all depends on you and how well you have the ability to keep calm,CIC is very unpredictable.
But on a personal note, I will advise anyone to get married before ITA, if possible or after AOR. But leaving out your to-be spouse completely with a target to sponsor him/her later is not even an advisable option to explore.
ITA I dived into the pool as soon as I returned from the wedding registry journey and got ITA in about 24hours. Then I joined nairaland because I was having POF analysis paralysis, lol.
Post ITA All other things were actually in place within few days except this POF of a thing. My account was always busy with activities of fund, so huge deposit comes in and goes out to different people in bits (family errands), it was running like that 7months before ITA. The day ITA will come, my balance was one ridiculous amount like that, less than 200k, Oluwa how do I explain this! 200k out of about 4m, chai. 60% of my POF was credited in my account barely 2hours post ITA and the balance came after a week. These are from sources I have been pestering because of fear of low balance post ITA, but there is limit to what you can do about money that you are planning to "own". I used a gift deed to support the larger chunk of the POF and allowed the fund to breath there for like 4weeks before printing statement and submitting.
Confirmation of signature was all GTB was able to give, I attached 77pages long bank statement. And spent the whole day scanning, resizing, merging, and compressing to 4MB...very tiring something!
Post AOR Checking people's timeline on this thread became the order of the day. The wait was not easy, a lot of things kept running through my mind. But I must say we are indeed lucky to have applied at this time and benefit from the short processing time, how do people survive silence from that end for 6 months or more. It is not easy to take the mind off it, not even when PPR rain falls anyhow on this thread, and anxiety of July AOR peeps on the thread no be here, y'all made me feel like, Oh, so I am even calmer than some people, lol.
I wish everyone expecting one good news or the other all the best. Ace IELTS! Pass meds! Successful BGCs!It is not a 1 size fit all affair, every application has its own uniqueness. In all, I must say we should learn to read, read and read. This Canada journey is a journey of research, faith, patience, honesty, and of course money spending! It can be very disturbing to see people asking question as ridiculous as "how do I check my IELTS result", "can I use expired passport to register for IELTS" on a very educative thread like this,haba...is that even a question. My dear, the same data used in asking that can be used in asking google! Oya, no vex. . Make some effort first and seek guidance on something confusing. CIC has all the information you need and page 0 of this thread answers MOST of the basic questions, someone even got angry because he/she was told to read page 0, lol.
As for the financial commitment, you do not necessarily need to have all the funds before you start, but start somewhere and have a workable plan! Things will fall in place with God on your side, but you have to do your best also and trust Him. Anyway, that is for the stuggling ones among us, there are some OmoBabaOlowo that POF and other expenses got nothing on them.
I wish everyone all the best every step of the way! May God bless the brain behind this thread and everyone that has contributed to its growth. |

I believe you should put your awarding institution which is your actual school, the institution where you attended classes only rendered a service on behalf of the school (for which they were paid, I beleive ) and could have been any other accredited institution listed by the school. steroid: Please I need advice regarding evaluation of my qualification.
I did my Masters in an English college in Germany but the certificate was awarded by an institution in Switzerland. Now I'm filling out the wes application, I am confused about which institution to put.
Do I put the awarding institution which appears on my certificate or the institution where I attended classes.
Your opinions are welcome |

Hi, Also a QS. Congrats @ bolded. What does the assessment for the CEC status entail? Did being MNIQS, PMP & having foreign experience contribute to your transition? ltee: Hi bro. I am also says q.s and I hope to move by end of Sept. What I know is that you need to do an assessment with CIQS of which I have done that. I have about 7years plus experience and MNIQS and pMp certified. I was conferred with a Construction Estimator Certified status which is higher than associate member, hence I don't need a bridging programme. I just need to submit case study based on 4past projects, interview then I get PQS. They gave me a short route. I hope to do volunteer work get my Canadian experience while hoping they retain me or I get job elsewhere with the experience. I hope to go to school later after I have understood the market. This is what I have done for now and the information I have at hand. I am still open to any info that is useful. |

God bless you for this. This is spirit-lifting. Sincerely, some posts here can make one begin to have cold feet about relocating because they are no different from "your education is a waste". One just have to keep heads high, focus on the encouraging posts and pick advice from them. Ballerz: Wrong. Maternal are you the god of Canada? Or the one who determines whether people will get job or not. There are times you should keep quiet and stop all these your negativity.
@sirlop Do you have working experience? It is your working experience that counts. My friend only had BSC in a Nigerian University and ICAN and with solid experience, he landed jobs with PwC, KPMG and EY - All Manager grade and he went for EY. It is not about your education, it is how you can prove your worth and add value to the organisation. There are times, you may want to enroll in some bridging continuous education to learn one or two things. Life is a continuous learning process. Please don't let anyone say you cannot achieve x and y. With the right attitude and right frame of mind you can move mountains. Impossibility exist only in the mind. Ontario Slogan is "yours to discover" and you can apply it to anywhere in life.
It is this same Maternal that was telling someone to move city because of bla bla. Please stop being rude to people and stop being myopic. There is no one size fits all rule. Haba. Learn to encourage people and stir them in the right direction in a Coaching manner.

Wow! Congratulations and all the best in this "canamission" bigfido: For the dude that passed the ielts that is complaining bitterly, please be thankful to God.
I have written ielts 7 times. My journey started since 2015. My Wes has been ready since then, but because of age and ielts, I have been falling short. I wrote ielts and got moderate score. I didn't know what was required then, since then, it has been a battle for me. My last 3 scores were 8,7.5,7,6... 7.5,7.5,7.5,7... 7.5,8,7,7..after the 6th one in June, I swore I was done with this dream. I had sunk so much money into this. I have gone to dubai to write celpip, went to dubai again for new brunswick info session, spent money 2ice on SINP and all to no avail. I was frustrated and devastated. July, I told my spouse to let me try ielts one more time. Even thou she didn't want to see me hurt again, she let me have my way. As for her she was done. She wanted the dream closed and buried. I don't blame her. So I paid and decided to change venue, this time I went to Ibadan, meaning I was spending more again. Then something changed. I prayed a lot about it. For catholics amongst us, please pray the prayers for exams to St Joseph of Cupertino. I went into the hall, did my best and left. I couldn't even beat my chest about my performance. I have been humbled by Ielts. But I kept on praying. I am not going to fail the 7th time. In between that time, a stranger in Lere2017 on this platform came into my life. She needed something from me. I actually wasn't in the mood to talk to her (reply her pm) but I did. We got talking and I told her my story. She was touched and she also truly prayed for me seriously. She will send me messages almost everyday telling me how much I was in her prayers and letting me know all is well. Yesterday midnight was the most awkward time of my life.. From 12 am till 7 am this morning, I was refreshing ielts website to check my result. The fear and panic was too intense. When I didn't see anything, I decided to go to their office to pick up my result.. That drive was filled with swallowing stone like saliva. On the bridge, I decided to refresh it again.. My result was there. My soul left my body and my eyes became blurry. I didn't know what I was reading but I knew I was reading.. L-9, R-8,S-8,W-7
I felt water swell up in my eyes. I understood what it is to look for something within your grasp and yet not have it. I am still basking in this euphoria so I can't real explain my ordeals. So please if you have it on a platter of gold, don't come here to rub it in on people that are going through a lot of even have a slice of what you have. For me the journey starts soon. I now have 450 points. I pray we all get to the promise land. Thank you @lere2017 I appreciate you. That's the beauty of this thread. Goodluck to everyone. I apologise for the long post and misspellings |

Ahhhh...please read the requirement on WES website and be guided. Have you paid to WES? Do you have a reference nunber already? Your school is to send the transcript, not you. So certificate and transcript will be sent differently. Remember to quote your reference numbers. Tdadz: Pls I need guidance on how to do about WES assessment... I plan visiting my university tomorrow to obtain my hard copy transcript in stamped envelopes... after I receive them, should I as well include copies of my BSc. certificate b4 I send to WES? |

The bolded is wrong sir/ma, Uploading certificate is requirement for e-APR and people's submission have been returned for incompleteness here for forgetting to add 1 or more certificate that they claimed points for, it is the transcript that is optional. But like you said, poster should be fine with submitting statement of result. cochtrane: I tried to look into your question.
From what I can gather, CIC simply wants you to provide an ECA. Typically, this should be sufficient since it already proves that your education is equivalent to a Canadian degree. Chikena!
However, people go ahead to add certificates, statements of result and sometimes transcript to the application. Which isn't bad, but in real sense just superfluous.
I may be wrong sha. But if you don't have the certificate, there's not much you can do. You should go ahead and submit the statement of result. I believe you'll fine. WES after all accepted same without raising an eyebrow. |
