Education › Re: 4 People That Destroyed Nigerian Education. by abdeiz(op): 10:55am On Jul 21, 2016
Anyone who didn't school in Nigeria has no right to comment on this post, you have no idea or what it feels like to have your genius and creativity scuttled and hampered by the Nigerian educational system. Many can testify that the first three are very true when the government wouldn't develop the educational system because it favours them that way, the lecturers are mediocre and impede the development of young creative minds they were entrusted with to develop, parents (some as this is subjective)instead of encouraging their wards to read use connection, leg or whatever its called to gain admission for them. When I was in my first year I had this method of doing my calculations which unfortunately was different from what the lecturer taught us though it would still arrive at the same answer, I got an E in that course and when I complained I was told to give back was I was given. So don't be surprised that graduates hardly know a damn thing about what they read as their brains were chiseled to cram an pass exams then forget what they read. I personally can testify to that and I am ashamed.
Now unto what can be done about it, obviously with the lack of quality education received it would seem like a Herculean task but something can be done about it. Most people have different ways of turning things around its now up the the individual him or herself to continue to acquire more knowledge as learning is a lifetime project.

Destroyer 3: The Parents

This is what you get when parents get involved in the school system. They start prying into affairs they should generally not be prying into. ‘My child failed? That’s not possible. She is supposed to pass. I am a big donor to this school, I am high and mighty.’ They come around to talk when their children have been asked to retake a class or a course. The result? The school lowers its value or bends the system to accommodate such students. Other times, parents sponsor examination malpractice for their children as a way of rendering ‘help’. This type of help that did not help you and did not help your child keeps me wondering. Your baby comes out an empty vessel and I hope you know the cause. So long as parents reinforce that their children do not deserve to fail even if stupidity is gushing out of their brains, the school system will not grow or move forward.

And now…

Destroyer 4: You

You’re the architect of your own problems. You want to sort all the lecturers, cheat in all the exams, and follow all the sneaky ways and underground movements. You come out without knowing what even happens in your field. You say you read chemistry and the simple component of water is a Hercules task to you. You are part of the problem. In short, you are a problem.

Education › 4 People That Destroyed Nigerian Education. by abdeiz(op): 6:25am On Jul 21, 2016
In the days of our fathers, there was zeal for education. People went to school to acquire knowledge. When you saw those who were educated, you surely knew. It was almost written on their foreheads. They talked like it, they walked like it and they were it – the educated ones. Fast forward to 2016 and I can tell you with all sincerity that the opposite is likely the case. But the graduates of 2016? Oh my sweet Lord! Some of them cannot spell their names (And I mean this literally). I keep wondering why the educational system in Nigeria has become so faulty: it’s like an old house whose foundations have begun to fail it, with so many cracks in the wall — but then not just cracks but leakages that let in all sort of unwanted guests.

Nigeria’s educational system has been vandalized by destroyers.
Nigeria’s educational system has been destroyed by the destroyers. The ills in the Nigerian educational system can be attributed to three destroyers and in no particular order: the government, the lecturers and the parents. There is a bonus: you. Don’t worry. You will see how all of these have distorted the school system.

Destroyer 1: The Government

As usual, the government’s dereliction of its duties will always be a bone hanging in the throats of Nigerians. You cannot swallow it neither can you spit it out. Ask yourselves: how many Nigerian elites have children who school in Nigeria? If there is any, they are in the top private schools in the country while those who have their children in federal schools are only 1 in 10,000. Because they know how awful the school system in Nigeria is. And they would never do anything to remedy the situation. They refuse to renovate, refurbish, and equip the schools. And when lecturers get angry, they go on strike. Who are the sufferers of the act? (Drum roll please!) Of course, it is you the students. And let me just clear you up. The government does not care! You can go on a 1-year strike for all they care. They have no business with your future. In fact, the government likes the poor educational system. The more uneducated you are, the better for them. At least no intellectual can stand up and challenge them. Sad? Yes? True? Double yes! The government is indeed the sickness of this nation.

Destroyer 2: The Lecturers

Lecturers! Lecturers!! Lecturers!!! Where do I start? If I was to grade the problems, these people would be gracing number 1 on the list. Most Nigerian lecturers are lazy piece of…(Please pick offense for all I care). They’re so lazy that the handouts most of them use to teach their students in 2016 were written in 1956. They do not carry out researches, they do not refresh their knowledge, and most of all, and they are allergic to correction. They hate bright students and prefer to teach dummies. They make sure you do not think outside the box for their words are ‘Yea and Amen’. Dare challenge a lecturer in a Nigerian university and you would keep writing that course till Jesus comes. They want exactly what they said in class word for word and leave no room for new ideas and exploration.

Then they transferred their laziness to the students. ‘You cannot read and cannot afford to fail? Pay me some money.’ They wear the typical Nigerian robe of corruption. Worse still, the ones with the extra spice of stupidity trade sex with their students for better grades. Some even fail you on purpose so that they can make you trade sex. How low they stoop! Sorting is simply lecturers way of saying ‘You can use what you have to get what you want because the brain in your head is but another part of the body whose function is probably exaggerated.’ Lecturers especially in northern Nigeria (now I must say no offense) have the ‘let my people go attitude’ where they let you go to the next level and the next level and the next level… without caring if you actually learned anything. Here they teach you in your preferred language (after all English is the white man’s language and not your mother tongue

MLM is a nice business if you are really ready to make a steady income for yourself now and the future. I will advice you that if you want to venture in this business, forget about the sweet bonuses at first, try and work hard to know how people drive marketing via social media..

Also, MLM is good for health related issues.

I am into this business and I continually make my nice steady income, with only five hard working people under me

Finally, I met someone here with moniker "looseweight" who taught me everything I know about the business and will eternally be grateful for his assistance and mentorship.

last note.. you gat to know how to read books for you to be successful in this business.
Thanks a lot, your contribution was really helpful.

Business › How Legit Is Multilevel Marketing? by abdeiz(op): 3:17pm On Jul 20, 2016
Few days ago some foreigner proposed a business to me and he said we meet so that he could explain much more in detail one on one, well from the vague information I got I deduced that it was multilevel marketing because it involved selling of a product. I've heard a lot of negative news about MLM before and how it is all a pyramid scheme. Pls nairalanders who have experienced such encounters before I need your advice, should I meet up with the person or I should ignore it?

If you are a fan of Tv series that portrays action from beginning to the end(eg.24,Prison Break)...stay off MrRobot.(This is the kind of series that uses your head)

If your mind is not strong enough or complex enough to understand some kind of things(eg.Shrodinger's Cat)....Stay off MrRobot.

The fact that you did not understand the 1st and 2nd episode doesn't mean you should come give it a bad review thereby discouraging people who haven't seen it.
God bless you

Good, I was at that level too and my to wasn't smiling (as in frowning so badly) so I sat up,
studied smarter( learn the pattern of how each lecturer sets his questions and the way he likes them being answered)
Read not only what the lecturer gives you(you would have different perspectives and answer more smartly)
Manage your time( I didn't say you shouldn't play o cos all work and no play well you know the rest but anyways know the most efficient times that you absorb what you read most, read your materials once they enter you hand and others too weekly, so that when exams come you would only be doing revision.)
Be friendly with the lecturers too as "SOME" could reciprocate in kind too with marks or go easy on you. Be friendly with in the sense that you aren't a truant, and do your assignments on time. This is just my one cent as it helped me climb out of the deep trenches of my nosediving gp.
Hope it helps and food luck

Phones › Have Airtel Lost Their Credibility? by abdeiz(op): 4:28am On Jul 15, 2016
A few months ago Nigerians were finally able to rejoice and enjoy cheap data when Airtel introduced the unlimited night plans, we all thought that this was the beginning of a new era of when we no longer have to pay through our noses to get a couple hundred megabytes of data.
But was that a false hope? After a while the prices of the plan was increased astronomically and the durations of the plans were reduced or scrapped completely. We said OK, we can still manage this one they left us with. Now fast toward to two days ago the unlimited night plan has now been scrapped completely and capped at 500mb and 1.5gb for 25 and 50 naira respectively. Unfortunately there new plans have been marred by customer complaints of having subscribed with airtime deducted but are still unable to browse, please I implore them to rectify this issue immediately because I'm also one of those customers affected by such incompetence.

My question is this why introduce such a plan when they know that its not sustainable and break lots of hearts nationwide. Didn't they know the consequences of introducing such plans because they only explanation I arrived at is those who formulate such plans doesn't know Nigerians and our love for data consumption.
