Hello Guys! I got my study permit for Ph.D. today. Submitted on Tuesday 6th in VFS Lagos. Got to SA Embassy in Lagos on Wednesday, 7th. Processed and dispatched to VFS for Collection on the 12th. That's roughly 4 to 5 days. Decided to pick it up today 14th. All done in about a week.

Thank you guys for all the advise.

My lesson learned is
1) to be extra honest (volunteer more than is needed),
2) you can use a non-blood relative SOA. Do make untrue claims anywhere in your letters.
3) State things as clearly as possible. If you have any seemingly conflicting information (State the reason in your letter of introduction)

Yes u can. I went to Renew my passport y.day sef. Renewing in SA is more expensive and it takes time. No implication

What about home ties issues? If i do paper application as you said, what about my passport because I wont be able to submit my passport as I have my SA study visa on it and i have to hold it around in SA?

You can apply from SA.

You don't need the original copy of your waec. You only need a photocopy of all documents. They only collect original of statement of account in the embassy


Your maternal uncle can sponsor as long as you can show proof of why he wants to spend so much on you and he still has enough for his upkeep and dependents

For the first part, what kind of visa are you on, in South Africa, ... if it's a visit visa, it's not advisable to apply for a study permit from there as your status in SA will be questioned.

I picked up my passport with study-permit yesterday. I want to thank @abdullahi@thecassanova@Zico70@imoniyi and other gurus in the house for not minding my shallow questions. Funny enough, the visa has been issued since 25th Jan without any message nor text sent to me. I just did what @abdullahi advised....tracked, and saw your processed passport is now at LAGOS on 25th bla bla(that is just 13 days after submission). And the rest is history.
Really appreciate everyone on here...you guyz are the best.

As far SA embassy is concern anyone can give you bank statement but he or she will write a letter to support your application .More importantly Id card or passport data page attached . Anyone in this context means friends or family members or business partner can give u letter and bank statement . I speak from experience .

Me I just went to hospital today and told them I need to run those tests... which they did and am awaiting result... but I dint download any form from vfs o... am I wrong pls

The passport issue you stated is not clear to me . can you please explain better ? Medical report take it to doctor to sign and stamp the test not necessary . download the forms from Sa embassy site

You dont need to be related . Any one can give you bank statement as sponsor .But he must write a letter to that effective and attached document

My relative got his study permit today. Submitted January 5th and was approved January 19th. Two weeks processing time. Enough fasting and prayer. Lol

But mind you brother, your sins might prevent from prayers from getting accepted. It's always good to repent, seek for forgiveness and then make dua.
In a hadith it's stated that a person will not move close to Allah except by doing the things Allah has made compulsory, and Allah will love him and get closer to him once he does Nawafil and once Allah loves him, he will be his eyes he sees with, the ears he hear etc...
So from above it's the best to do what Allah wants then pray and hope that our dua will be accepted. Wallahu musta'an
