South African universities dominate in ranking agencies' (QS, ARWU and The Times Education) and quality of education goes beyond "what will they teach you?". It entails the quality of teaching, materials used, environment, citations, laboratories, funding for research, reputation, list of Nobel prizes, employability across global firms etc.

If Nigerian schools are good as you say, they should compete with South African universities. And in competing, they must improve on what constitute a good school.

You need to certify or notarize your certificate at a court or notary public.
And you also need to send your certified degree certificate and transcript to saqa for evaluation. Procedure is on their website. Just search saqa google will bring you everything

In my case, the hotel booking was in JBurg though the school is in Capetown and I didn't indicate this in my introduction letter. Hope this won't raise any issues as I have to get to J'Burg first before going to Capetown

Have you submitted your visa app. If not to be at the safer side just book a hotel in cape town and save yourself from unnecessary troubles. Then I called the hotel directly to book and i was told that I can pay the day I arrive.

Yeah you need to register online via saqa.co.za to get your university transcript and certificate evaluated. Go to the website, instructions there are not subtle. Also you will need to notarize/certify all your documents before sending it to them via post and you will also have to pay them evaluation.
Finally, the whole process can take more than a month depending on how fast you also move.
