Do you really have access to the funds? If your answer is 'Yes', tell the officer how you have access to the funds. Give them practical not theory.

In my case the practical I did to prove to them that I have access to the funds was using part of those funds to pay for everything concerning me and the Canadian journey.

I was able to prove I have access to that fund by making withdrawals from those accts and use the money for my study permit procession.

If you have enough time, wait and include your tuition receipts.

In my case, I didn't include the receipt because the was taking time to process it. I included the receipt from CIBC that indicated that I paid my fees.

I asked ChatGPT to give me a list of tech and fintech companies in Ontario.

I went to each company's websites and search for openings then applied. Most job descriptions were full-time but I still applied. I got an offer with one and when I told them I was a student I can only do 24hr/week they said no problem.

There is another one when I did interview they said they needed a full-time employee.

Most of the jobs were in Toronto. One was even a remote but I need to visit to on-site at least once a week.

I used ChatGPT to finetune my resume to match every job role I applied for.

Get -35 to 45 degrees winter jacket..
If it gets worse you can wear balaclava during winter..
As for me my worse fear starts from -21°degrees

I got a job before coming to Canada and currently I got 3 Canadian job offers. Aside the cold, from my house to where the job location is, I won't get a bus by 2AM so I factored in commute too and declined it.

In 2025 winter cold broke my room window glass in manitoba shattered it into pieces,If not that the glass was two, one inside and one outside,I would have evacuated that room at the mid night!
It completely destroyed the window glass inside, it was upto -35° degrees that time.

When we complain of cold we would be told that winter never start o.

I get a job with FedEx but due to cold and their early morning shifts I declined the offer.

Weather is unpredictable. Just budget for cold.

Cold in Canada can be crazy. I barely go outside. I could stay indoors for 4 days without seeing outside because outside is very cold even with the Sunlight.

New students struggle with different things. Cold is not just for new students everyone here is not used to cold.

My prof said he’s been in Canada for over 20yrs and he is still finding cold as an issue. So nobody gets used to cold.


Since I entered Canada in August I never sweat unless when I am in the gym.

E get how the cold would come and my hands would be so peppery like say dem rub pepper for my hands. Water will start coming out from my eyes and nose reason I don’t go outside unless it’s necessary.

Over here an average person you see wears jacket or hoodie due to cold.

I am always carrying jacket when I’m outside.

The weather is u predictable. It could be warm and the next moment very cold

I was advised to get a Canadian work experience as it would help me in a long run. Normally, I didn't intend working while schooling since the remote job I am doing is already tasking couple with school activities.

But because I need the Canadian work experience, na so I started submitting my resume on company websites.

I have applied to like 20 companies and got 3 offers, 1 company yet to make final decision and about 6 rejections. All these happen in the space of one week plus. I dedicated last week for submitting resume.

I did physical interview with 2 companies (tech) and the rest were online interviews.

I will be assuming work on Monday with one of the company still a tech company.

One company just sent me a email to submit a couple of documents for background checks.

The first stages of most of the interviews were done by AI. AI was my interviewer.

ChatGPT has really helped me o. People said go for career coaching even there is a group in my school where you are been taught how to write resume, prepare for interview and all that.

I boycott the group and ChatGPt has always been my go to resource.

According to my little research, when IRCC goes through your application, the officer looks at the possibility of you returning back to your home country after studies. One of the stuff they look out for is your home ties and family is an example of home home ties. Business and employment in your home country also make up home ties.

In my case I do not have a business in my home country and the firm I work for is a foreign firm and I work remotely. So when I said I do not have a strong home ties I meant no immediate family member, no business or employment in Nigeria.

I have seen on this thread study permit refusal based on home ties and the applicant wasn't a teen.
What do you mean by employment history? I work remotely.

I have gotten admission for a diploma in social service worker in a Canadian college. As I am above 40 years can my visa application be denied at the embassy given my choice for a diploma program

I am currently studying in Canada.
1. My course of study does not match with my previous study.
2. I Left school about 10 years ago.

If it is a trial book like my accounting, only lecturers can get the physical copy. If not, the physical book should come with a redemption code for e-copy, although I'm not sure sha. In any case, buying via your school will be cheaper

My prof sent us the link to purchase and there was no redemption or so

The payment via your school library/store is not a new process like that... Instead of going to the Connect site to pay directly, your school should be selling the Connect redemption code for the book too at a reduced price... Like 2 accounting books I needed for my course on the Connect were over 100 CAD each, but via my school store, I got both for 150 or 140 CAD (I can't remember), and I got a redemption code for the Connect site, which I used to access the books and my assignments.

Those who paid more since they bought directly from the Connect site, the prof promised to help them get a refund of the excess from the Connect firm.

You are not in grade school anymore . In Canada 80% of Universities allow you to simply rent your textbooks from amazon, university bookstores, library etc. and they have used book exchanges where seniour students get to sell back their used textbooks for the incoming classes.


Even multiple thrift stores like Value Village and the Salvation -Army in Canada sell numerous second-hand products including books at a very cheap price and they display books in thematic sections so its easy to find a book from a genre of your choice.

Harvard University, The World Internet Archive, The World Google Book Library etc all have free downloadable course books usable for all academia worldwide to the extent that if used no students (in North America especially) will have the need to buy any textbook.

You are not a student in Canada. Stop deceiving incoming students . You dont even know how to combine your lies to make sense 🙄

Some professors require you to do your assignments using connect.


Whether you rent textbooks, buy textbooks, steal textbooks whichever one you choose to do, you will still need to pay to access the connect.


And if you pay for connect some packages comes with the ebook.


So which one would you rather do?

1. Rent textbooks and still pay for connect.
2. Pay for connect and get ebook?

I see why Ppl with here in Canada always discourage ppl from coming via school route... Because they end up seeing ppl crying up and down which most of them are international students from 3rd world countries...

After you cook finish, please note that some part of your school fees may be due in few days or a month or 2 when you arrive, no work is assured and you have limited hours to work etc.

Please also inform him that it’s not only school fees o. There are only bills to pay. Depending on the course and school sha. Some textbooks are as high as $210 minus tax.

If I tell you how much I’ve spent on textbooks alone just four textbooks the money don reach to buy Honda Civic 2008 model.

I submitted my application which was denied due to accommodation and school fee balance according to ODN. I have a plan to pay school fee balance from my bank savings (POF) and present an investment certificate to close gap of POF balance and accomodation.

Wont this affects me, considering my first application which has sufficient savings as POF.

What do you mean by "I have a plan to pay school fee balance from my bank savings (POF)"? Is your tuition fee not part of your POF? What the purpose of POF if it's not meant for paying of school fees?

If you don't understand what POF is, it is the funds available, accessible for everything concerning your study. Your flight ticket, accommodation, tuition fee, feeding, etc are all part of your POF. So when you said you have plan to pay your tuition bal from your POF I wonder what the purpose of POF was.

During my time, every spending I made including going to Abj and Lagos from PH for biometric and medicals respectively all were from the POF. Even the clothes, shoes, bags I bought for my Canadian journey all came from my POF.

When I submitted my application my POF was $108k. The day I landed in Canada my POF had gone down because all my spending were from that POF. Abi where else would I get money to spend if not from my POF?

When I sit back to remember how I started this journey all I can say is Alhamdulillah.

I said outdoor in Canada is colder than indoor. An agent who issue permanent study permit assumes that I meant outside of Canada is colder than inside of Canada.
