My mind says I have gotten it. I am self-funded with a very clean and adequate application plus I paid the 2-year tuition fees upfront in full. It is in God's hands and I am happy about that. Thank you for the encouragement. Best of luck to you in Canada and safe trip tomorrow.

Hi, I arrived Canada, thanks everyone for the support, I really appreciate. For my application, I applied from Poland and honestly the process was straight forward, no medicals required, from submitting my application to getting the application approval and passport request took less than 3 weeks. Feel free to ask any questions, though I might not be able to answer some private questions like program of study, the university. The program i will be studying is a tech program, I work in tech, and the university is a public university in Ontario. I have attached screenshot of my application history, list of supporting documents submitted, list of financial documents submitted. My experience at the port of entry was very straightforward, it was exactly what I prayed and fasted for, I was only asked two questions,

Officer: You came to Canada for study
Me: Yes
Officer: You're here for your study permit
Me: Yes

Then she stood up went to print the study permit and gave me, asked me to read and make sure everything is correct, then said welcome to Canada. I spent less than 2 mins there.

Also, I was not asked any document, not even LOA or letter of introduction though I had the printed copies of all my documents in my backpack, I only gave the officer the slip from the kiosk and my passport (i did my arrivecan online, a day before departure so it was really fast at the kiosk) then she asked those two questions which I only answered yes to both (no explanation) which she immediately stood up to print the study permit and gave me to check everything is correct and said welcome to Canada.

Everything was correct including the statement "May accept employment on or off campus…", my LOA did not include co-op (not applicable), although I wasn't asked to provide the LOA at the port of entry. Thanks once again everyone, this platform was really helpful, I also used Ai alot both in drafting my statement of purpose, financial explanation letters and also lots of questions through out the application process especially some private questions I couldn't ask here.

1. Yes — disclose and explain it in your LOE. IRCC asks about refusals from any country, and hiding one risks a misrepresentation ban (5 years) if it surfaces. Keep it to one factual paragraph: country, year, reason, what has improved since. A disclosed refusal rarely kills an application; a hidden one usually does.

2. Use the USD MasterCard — Naira cards often fail on international payments due to CBN limits. Just confirm with Fidelity it's enabled for international online transactions first. If it declines, a virtual USD card (Grey, Raenest) works.

I used Claude AI (on Fable mode) to prepare my application. Expensive as I pay USD $100 subscription every month but absolutely worth it because of the nature of my job plus personal development goals. Then I engaged the services of a verified Canadian based RCIC to review everything and he was strongly complimenting me on how I did everything. Truth be told, in this day and age, there are options if someone can't afford a RCIC agent. As long as the person is not using AI to fake documents because they will be caught. IRCC is no longer playing and the sentiment in Canada is gradually shifting against large scale immigration especially from international student because of the perceived low quality international students coming in (The Indians have created this poor perception unfortunately).

A few months ago, I brought awareness to the fact that people should handle their visa applications themselves. But if they absolutely must pay someone to help, they should make sure that person is a licensed immigration consultant (RCIC).

I am not talking about admission here, before someone comes with their usual talking points.

A lot of agents came for me because I was supposedly spoiling their business. I won’t mention names, but they called me all sorts of names and accused me of everything bad under the sun, without providing any evidence...Till today.

The reality is that the average Nigerian cannot afford the services of an RCIC. Not because we do not have the money we always believe we can get the services cheaper somewhere else


That is exactly why I encourage people to learn the process and do their visa applications themselves where possible, rather than paying someone simply because they call themselves an “agent ” except you can verify they are registed with RCIC

So sorry to hear this — refusals with young families are especially painful. A few honest observations from experience with the IRCC process:

Reconsiderations rarely succeed. IRCC almost never reopens a refused application unless there was a clear legal or procedural error. Even MP offices can only prompt a review — they can't overturn an officer's judgment. So today's outcome, while disappointing, is unfortunately the norm.

The ODN is actually the roadmap. The officer spelt out exactly what failed: unexplained large personal savings vs. very low declared income (~$1,666 CAD), weak evidence of company viability, and low sponsor funds in Canada. Having the funds in your account is not enough, you need to back it up with detailed forensic source of funds evidence. A new application only stands a chance if it directly cures each of these — a documented source-of-funds trail for every major deposit (sale agreements, gift deeds, business income records), audited/management accounts showing the business is real and profitable, consistent tax filings that match the savings, and stronger sponsor finances.

Skip another reconsideration; build a fresh, properly documented application. Money spent re-arguing the old file is better spent on getting the evidence right — ideally with a licensed RCIC or immigration lawyer reviewing the source-of-funds story before submission, since a third refusal on the same gaps becomes very hard to recover from.
