AutosRe: My Experience Going To Lagos To Purchase A Toyota Corolla by AbelAbdul(op): 7:37am On Jul 13, 2022
Finally a guy I met on jiji came and took me to a dealer who has agreed to give me this 07 Corolla for 3.2m. The car is averagely clean inside and very clean outside.

Inspected the car it's ok except for the battery which cannot start the vehicle and other minor interior things like the pigeonhole cover which has broken. Another battery was used to start it.
AutosRe: My Experience Going To Lagos To Purchase A Toyota Corolla by AbelAbdul(op):
I couldn't find a very clean 05 Corolla for 3.4m.
Even other models are sold from 3.5m.

Getting a car at apapa warehouse is like getting a house. U pass through agents.

Once you enter the warehouse some random guys will flock over you asking you want kind of car u want. They will perch on u like a bird.

I was told each agent gets 100k commission for every car he sells or bring someone to buy.

They hardly allow you have access to the real car dealers.

Very terrible. Something I don't see in PH
AutosRe: My Experience Going To Lagos To Purchase A Toyota Corolla by AbelAbdul(op): 7:26am On Jul 13, 2022
Getting to Apapa, I was taken to their warehouse.
I saw so many Toyota Corolla cars of different colors. The 2005 model were few. Much of them were 06 and 07.

The 05 that entered my eyes was very expensive(3.8m)
AutosRe: My Experience Going To Lagos To Purchase A Toyota Corolla by AbelAbdul(op):
I started my first search in Ajah. I moved from Ajah to Lekki. I barely saw Corolla cars. Most cars I saw were SUVs.

I then moved to Ikorodu. I couldn't see and Tokunbo Corolla.

Finally moved to Apapa

For those saying I should go back and wait or replan, please know that as the day goes buy prices of cars are going up.
I started planning to buy this car in January. Then my budget was 2m and the car was at 2.3 and 2.5m.

July the car is hitting 3.8m.

So I can't keep waiting. Dollar is going up everyday.

Good morning all. I believe you all are doing great.
I want to share my experience leaving Port Harcourt for Lagos to buy a Toyota Corolla.

I embarked on this journey on Sunday 10th July.
I came to Lagos to purchase the car because of these three conditions;
1. I thought it will cheaper in Lagos than Port Harcourt.
2. I believed in Lagos I will see much of it and would have a choice.
3. I believed in Lagos I will get the best with everything intact.

Before coming to Lagos I had my preferred model in mind. That's 2005 LE model.

From AJah bridge to Lekki there are a lot of good car dealers on the road. Just calmly board a bus and be looking out. You will see them. Walk in and check what you want. Don't let anybody know u are new in Lagos, it could backfire.
Ajah is something else these days when it comes to insecurity. Becareful
That's bro. Really appreciate

toks.
I looked out for it in Ajah because I'm within Ajah. I wouldn't mind other locations so far the price is fair.

Road worthiness majorly. U can't use PH road worthiness to drive/register Uber/Bolt in Lagos.

In Abuja there are more requirements for ehailing cars u must have. Abuja people can talk about this better
If I go to another state I will have to do a new inspection. That what it means..
Thanks for the info.

My name is Abel. Based in Port Harcourt.

I want to know how profitable this Uber/Bolt business is (especially for Port Harcourt residents) and what type of car is best for this kind of business.

I'm thinking of diving into it.

I once went into transport system though wasn't this type.

I want to know if this one worth it.
Thank you.

First of all, are you a registered money lender? If yes, take the person to court and he or she will pay both principal and interest. Infact he may even be asked to pay for the money spent on legal fees.

However, if you are not registered, the law has no much space for you. At most the borrower will be asked to refund you the principal.

Though not everyone is aware of such. So you can do is to go them physical to ask and be loud about it since gentlemanliness didn't work. Threaten them with the law. Like "you will use law enforcement to arrest them or sue them in court". Please in the process avoid sentences like " I will deal with you or I am going to deal with you".

Also, check the details of your agreement again and try rewriting smartly if it wasn't. If you are not registered, your agreement should carry something like a "friendly loan agreement". If it comes to the amount you are lending out, it should carry the amount you are expecting as refund. i.e if you are lending 90k to collect 100k in return, the amount to be written as money lent out and nothing like interest should show there.
Thanks a lot

Yes, the police does not have the right to arrest over debt but they (police) can arrest over "obtaining by false pretence" which is what we call 419. You can report a case of obtainig by false pretence.

Also, Lagos state has a Small Claims Court. You don't need a lawyer and their cases are dispensed within two weeks. Walk in there and make a report. They will be summoned and if they refuse to turn up, you can get arrest warrant for them. The small claims court is at Ogba courthouse. Just go there and ask for it. Again you do not need a lawyer for that.
I don't reside in Lagos. Is it possible to still go there?

Forget that police cannot arrest debtors thing, they are so corrupt and they would do anything for u.

If u won't do that.
Get a lawyer and take the person to court straight.
The person would even pay more sef and pay for ur struggles. Sue all of them together.
Thanks

Sometimes, I don't blame sokoloan and others from what they do. Some people don't and wouldn't want to necessarily pay until you start threatening them. I guess, you didn't know the rules of being a money lender in Nigeria.

You need to be fierce. Anyone that defaults, carry men, go mend mend the defaulters body. So that other people would know how e dey be. And, you'll have to have the backing of the highest of the highest hierarchy in the police system. So, all can go in Peace.

Dm me if you want me to arrange boys that'll enforce payment for you. You wouldn't have to worry about not getting your payment.

Life is eazy. grin

Being a loan shark in Nigeria isn't a easy feat but, it can be done.
I don't charge them much. I give loan without interest to those who hold it for the maximum period of 35days. Still the find it hard to pay.
Some will insult me when I call them.
Lastly I don't want to use boys. It's not legal.
