EducationRe: My Supplementary Utme Result Has Been Released by Abelai: 11:54pm On Jun 27, 2024
Mrshape:
I posted my review of the JAMB UTME mathematics examination and my expectations, but unfortunately, that result was put under investigation, and the exam was later cancelled. A new date was set for the rescheduled examination. I have been posting updates about the examination.

This morning, I checked the result, and here is the score I obtained. My physics and chemistry were within my expectations, but my mathematics and English were below my expectations.
Well next week I will be participating in the David English competition winning prize is #500,000. Any one is qualified to join, I invite you all to join me, this week edition of the David English competition was won by a young secondary school girl of less than 16 years of age

Hello @Mrshape, congratulations are in order. Your confidence in your ability, consistency, and self-belief is out of this world! Of notice is your calmness when being called out regarding this JAMB issue on this forum. I presume you already bagged a B.Sc in another field, since you do teach mathematics and also own a school, based on your previuos post. If this is true, would you consider using your first undergraduate degree to apply for M.Sc in Data Science in the United States. I have no doubt that you will blast the GRE and get a GA with full tuition waiver and monthly stipend. If it's something you would like to consider, please, let me know. Please, pardon me if being an enterprenuer already ( a school owner ) , this is not in your list of priority. Once again, congratuations. I wish you the best!
EducationRe: My Journey Through Taking The Supplementary UTME Exam by Abelai: 10:11pm On Jun 25, 2024
Mrshape:
My exam was scheduled for Friday, the 21st at 6:30 am. I had to lodge in a hotel. Fortunately, the center I was posted to was the WAEC international CBT center, and WAEC has a hotel inside the compound called the Academy Guest House. The room was legit; I would rate it 10/10. That evening, I started playing my audiobook for "The Life Changer" and revising some points by scrolling through the syllabus.

By 6:00 pm on Thursday, I went out to get more food, but the road was flooded. Fortunately, I saw an auto rickshaw heading to the junction. Originally, I planned to buy beans. A portion of beans was #1,500, but something told me to buy other things as their beans might not be good. My favorite beans are from Kilimanjaro in Aduwawa. One time, they even asked for my name because I often called to order beans, sometimes up to four times a week. Their beans used to be 10/10 four years ago when they used pomo to cook it. Now, I would rate it 8/10, but they are still the best. However, Kilimanjaro at Benin City Mall is still okay; they are onion specialists, with a 1:1 ratio of beans to onions, I perceive. So, I decided to buy pounded yam and vegetable soup, sardine Bread and also shawarma.

The shawarma was very big, about 25 to 30 cm long. For those not familiar with the size, it was as long as a long ruler, with a base area of approximately 16πcm². For those not familiar with area, you can think of it like the base of a Coca-Cola bottle.

When I got back to my room, I started with the beans, but the taste was not good at all. So, I switched to the bread. The sardine bread was amazing; I had never tasted anything like it. I was almost dislodging the bread to 50% when I remembered I had not eaten the shawarma, It tasted very nice. My stomach was already rebelling against my wishes at this point. I had to pause eating and put the beans, pounded yam, vegetable soup, and the remaining two-thirds of the shawarma in the refrigerator. I went to the bathroom and took a hot shower. Afterward, I came back to the room, switched on the AC, and lay on my bed. The white soft duvet was very helpful; I buried myself in it and started using my phone. I used my phone until 2:00 am the next morning, then plugged it in and slept off. I woke up around 5:30 in the morning. I got some bread and went to join the queue for biometrics verification.

When I got there, I observed they were calling names. I asked another mature candidate if it was names they were using now. He was also surprised, so we decided to check the situation. We went to the third floor and inquired from the biometrics woman. She said it was just two names; I assumed they were special students or students with special needs. I told the guy we should go back, but he said he couldn't and jumped the queue, standing in front of a small boy. I simply went down and returned to my original place in the queue. After some time, I was reflecting on something that came to my mind: how old was Bint in the novel "The Life Changer"? My mind was reflecting on 8 or 9 years. I took an excuse from the person ahead of me, ran back to my room, picked up my phone, and checked. I found out that Bint was five years old. I quickly put my phone under the bed as I don't trust hotel rooms, and went back to the queue.

Finally, we all did the biometrics and went to the waiting room, there was seats for everyone to sit in the waiting room and even extra. A man who looked like a Northerner, based on his attire, addressed us and encouraged anyone who was impersonating to leave the hall now, as it was safe to do so. He said that impersonators and those with technical issues were the reasons for the delay. Nobody left the hall, so he said if they caught anyone impersonating, they would be sent to Abuja. Finally, they directed us to the computer room where we all took turns to find our numbers and sit in our seats, the computer screen was big and better than the one in my previous exam. They said the exam would commence at 8:30 am, but the waiting time felt like up to 2 hours. I can't be sure because there was no device to tell the time.

Finally, the exam started. The first subject displayed on my screen was Mathematics. Jesus! Christ, the math difficulty was quadruple that of the previous exam. Not that they couldn't be solved, but they required time. Some questions that really surprised me were the median of grouped data and special trigonometric functions. Math shouldn't be a problem for me, but this time, it was consuming all my time. At the end of the math exam, I had about 55 minutes left, so I went to English. The English difficulty level was normal compared to the previous one. Then came Chemistry. Its difficulty level was the same as the previous exam. In the end, I was left with about 11 minutes for Physics. Physics was very easy; I regretted not starting with it. Unfortunately, I didn't solvesome of the calculations that will take much time; I eliminated options to get the answer, while the non-calculation questions were straightforward.

After the exam, I went to my room, but I couldn't find my phone under the bed where I had hidden it, and I think my bread has changed position and now tightly tied, I went to the front desk to complain. They said nothing gets missing in the hotel and started calling the person who cleaned the room. Then I decided to check the locker and found that the person had kept the phone in the locker for me. I felt so humbled. I hid the phone from the hotel staff in case they came to clean the room and might steal it, but they found it and kept it safe for me.

Immediately after I left the hotel, I checked my result, hoping to see it immediately. Unfortunately, it wasn't out yet, and it still isn't out at this moment.

Expected score

Math 98±2
English 85±8
Chemistry 72±10
Physics 85±10
Total = 340±30
Whao, nice diction! I am optmistic that you will do very well. Fingers crossed regarding the result. I hope all will be well this time. Thanks for the update.

Mrshape:
My UTME result which was under investigation by JAMB for more than a month has just been rescheduled,
To be written on the 22nd of this month.
I am happy it was rescheduled, because I no longer have confidence in the integrity of the result that would have been released, due to the delay it looks suspicious (personal taught though).

Another reason why I am happy is that this time around it will give me opportunity to get 100/100 in mathematics, as they will be very careful with the questions they are going to set and make sure it follows the syllabus, as this exam is to test the ability of those who they think where involved in examination misconduct maybe did to their high score (person taught though).

For all those that have followed me on nairaland asking for updates, thank you, and tis is where we are now. I must finish the journey.
Hello @Mrshape, could you, please, provide an update regarding the re-written JAMB exam? Some of us are interested in your enthusiasm and positive outlook.

?
Hello, thanks for your comment. However, a fresh graduate from the university may not have all the hard skill sets of an experienced individual. This individual does possess soft skill sets . Not all undergraduate courses have the internship (SIWES) components. Of course, fresh graduates are expected to have the regular soft skills plus being computer literate, which my acquaintance possesses . Aside being good in the area of communications, this individual also learnt cosmetology ( hair styling, skin-care, nail care, make-up, and marketing of beauty & care products). Getting a PPA in any media or beauty outfit is kind of perfect, though the primary aim is to get a PPA in Ibadan so as to be in close proximity with the resource centers for personal development. In case you could be of help, it would be much appreciated.
NYSCNYSC PPA In Ibadan, Oyo State by Abelai(op): 2:57am On Jan 07, 2024
An acquaintance of mine just got redeployed from one of the states in the North-Central to Oyo State. The individual needs a PPA within Ibadan metropolis due to some personal developmental programs they intend to undertake simultaneously while serving their fatherland. The resource organizations for achieving this are located within Ibadan. The field of study is English Language/Communications (B.Sc).
Please, any referral for a place of primary assignment within Ibadan will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Lagos is No Man's land
This comment, ' Lagos is no man's land' , is very wrong. If you want to state this based on the fact that Lagos was once the FCT of Nigeria, what about Abuja? Can someone just go to Abuja and be bragging that it's no man's land? Lagos has the original indigenes (natives). Go and read the history of Lagos. At least, it's more reasonable for the Yorubas to lay claim to Lagos, but for other tribes, this is not correct. I am sure no Yoruba person can go to Onitsha or Kano, and be bragging that those two mentioned cities are nobody's land!. You know what the consequence will be! I amPeter Obi's supporter but this statement is very annoying.

That being said, Nigeria is our dear country, and as Nigerians, we have equal rights to live, reside, trade, and work in any part of the country irrespective of tribes and culture.
PoliticsRe: Obi Shuns Oba Of Lagos During Lagos Campaign by Abelai: 8:50pm On Feb 11, 2023

So why did Peter Obi come to Lagos and refuse to pay homage to the Oba.
He has visited other SW States and paid homage to Obas
Instead he came to Lagos to engage in a street walk, obstructing traffic and causing unfinished hardship for commuters

Is this part of the Lagos is No Man's land agenda of Ibos who insist Lagos is not Yoruba land?
Is this what Lagosians can expect from him if he wins
Did Tinubu visit Oba of Benin when he campaigned in that state? How many Traditional Rulers did Tinubu visit when he went to South East to campaign?
Even if Obi did, it won't still increase his number of votes. Besides, why visit an Oba who is not only obviously partisan but also an individual whose public comments about other ethnic groups leave so much to desire regarding the unity of this country? Oba of Lagos is inside the pocket of APC; even the APC politicians do not respect him. I'm very sad as a Yoruba guy to admit this, but it is what it is!

PoliticsRe: Nextier, Peter Obi And The Farcical Election Poll Result by Abelai: 2:21am On Feb 06, 2023
MANofMEN:
PRESS STATEMENT

NEXTIER, PETER OBI AND THE FARCICAL ELECTION POLL RESULT

We are constrained as a matter of public record to react to another farcical Presidential Election Poll result released by an organisation that calls itself Nextier, a public policy advisory firm that overnight turned itself into a Nigerian Gallup Poll or Ipsos.

We are reacting for the sake of unsuspecting Nigerians, so that they are not misled by the Patrick Okigbo-led organisation, which appears to have the agenda to create confusion and chaos in our country.

For a start, Nigerians should know that promoters of Nextier are members of Mr. Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign Council and active campaigners for the Labour Party Presidential Candidate.

Any poll conducted by such intensely partisan and prejudicially tainted organisation should be taken with a pinch of salt.

This is apart from the fact that the sample size of the so-called poll and methodology employed cannot stand any integrity test.

It is quite ludicrous that Nextier Poll that projects a clean sweep of the South East Region at over 90% of registered votes also puts Peter Obi ahead of APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the six South West States including Lagos.

Assuming without absolutely conceding that Peter Obi will enjoy home advantage in his part of the country, we then wonder why the pollsters at Nextier, if they have any modicum of respect for the intellect of Nigerians, thought the factors that will propel landslide victory for Obi in South east will not work for the APC candidate in his own South West base.

Nextier Pollsters also put Labour Party ahead of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate in his home state of Adamawa.

How more ridiculous can Nextier Pollsters get?

Nextier Pollsters called the entire South South Region for Labour Party at 60% in Akwa-Ibom, the base of Chairman of PDP presidential campaign council.

The partisan pollsters gave Bayelsa 62.9% to Labour Party and also claimed LP would win Delta 65.9 %, home of PDP Vice Presidential Candidate.

The jesters in Nextier also claimed Obi would win Rivers by 77.8%, Edo 76.9% and Cross Rivers 63.2%. It did not matter to them that in these states, Labour Party has no serving councillor in any ward.

The summary of Nextier's so-called face-to-face nationwide poll is that Peter Obi is the preferred candidate of 37% of Nigerians with a conclusion that the Presidential election will go into a run-off.

We make bold to say this is wishful thinking without any basis in fact and reality.

It is important to alert Nigerians and the international community that the Pollsters at Nextier are working for the Labour Party and their poll results are all cooked up, far away from reality.

We suspect that their first and second fallacious poll results are pretext to cause political crisis and riots in Nigeria after the February 25. They may be preparing ground for violent protest by Obi supporters who will allege rigging when their candidate is roundly defeated at the election, in which he is not likely to even come a distant 3rd.

We want to state categorically that Peter Obi is not a major contender in the coming presidential election in Nigeria and no fantasy and fairytale poll can change the material facts.

We want to put it on record that Nextier Poll is useless for three reasons:

First, the sample size of 3,000 is statistically too insignificant in an election with over 93 million registered voters and admits greater margins of error than claimed.

Second, the distribution of the sample neither reflects voter demographics nor variations in voters turnout across states.

Third, the main objective of Nextier Poll is to report a predetermined conclusion so that when Labour Party loses by wide margin, its rabid supporters can embark on another violent protests, similar to the destructive #ENDSARS riots of 2020.

Ogbeni, that was a governorship election. Even if the LP guber candidate, Lasun, had contested under PDP or APC against either of Adeleke or Oyetola, he would have been defeated still. He doesn't have the clout. Presidential election is different from guber. That does not mean Obi will win Osun but he will definitely put up a decent performance in Osun; not as bad as that LP guber.
In the whole of South West, Osun and Ekiti will be where Obi's performance will not be that significant, but he will still score close to 25 %.
