http://kogireports.com/senator-dino-melaye-diverts-fg-relief-materials-leaves-disaster-victims-in-pains-as-group-demand-icpc-probe/ It would be recalled that during the last raining season, a certain part of Kogi state was affected by flood, wind and other natural disaster that left many people homeless and properties worth hundreds of millions destroyed. During this trying time a number of spirited individuals and organizations came to assist these victims in their little ways pending when the Federal government’s National emergency management agency would come to their aids as required by the law. During this period, several government officials and elected representative made calls to the NEMA to immediately assist the people, among such persons is the Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Senator Dino Melaye and member representing Kabba-bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency, Hon Tajudeen Yusuf. After several months of waiting, facts emerging from the NEMA headquarters confirmed that trailers load of Rice, Mattresses, roofing materials and other house hold equipment worth hundreds of millions were handed over to Senator Dino Melaye at the end of December 2016 for distribution to the victims of the disaster whose livelihood have become very poor as a result of the disaster. Senator Dino Melaye, according to the reports, received the items for the disaster victims in Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Lokoja and Koto karfe LGAs, but he decided to divert the materials for political gains instead of giving same to the affected victims. We can reliably confirm that the Senator shared half of these items to his political followers and diverted the rest for his personal gains. We also gathered that part of the items found their way to Benue state with the connivance of one Mr Samuel Melaye, who is Senator Melaye’s immediate younger brother and Senior Legislative Aide. Mr Samuel Melaye, who is said to be married to an Idoma lady, sent part of the relief materials to his inlaws as Christmas gift. Meanwhile, the Kogi West Peoples Front, a social cultural group of Kogi state has asked the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission (ICPC) to immediately commence a thorough investigation into this grievous allegation as it is considered to be a crime against humanity. The organization in a press release on the 1st January 2017 described the act as satanic, wicked and height of corruption perpetrated by a lawmaker that is supposed to defend his people. The spokesman of the group, Alh. Aminu Inuwa Bala decried it as a wicked act of a rich man to impoverish the people. Alh Inuwa thanked the Federal government through the NEMA for considering the plight of the victims by providing the relief materials but condemned the Senator and called the behaviora daylight robbery against the poor and attempt to sabotage the efforts of the Federal Government. He called on government to begin immediate investigation and subsequent prosecution of the Senator and the NEMA officials assigned to monitor the distribution who refused to do their job but colluded with the Senator to rob the poor. Efforts to reach Senator Dino Melaye proved abortive as calls made to his phone was ignored.

ENUGU— Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, has dismissed the statement credited to the National Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Joe Nwaorgu, accusing President Buhari of allegedly promoting politics of exclusionism against Ndigbo. Ngige, a former governor of Anambra State, also faulted the claims that the inability of President Muhammadu Buhari to pull the country out of the current recession was due to lack of an economic team, saying that those orchestrating such claims were job seekers who failed in their bid to be appointed ministers. The minister spoke in an interview with reporters at the annual convention and 2016 graduation ceremony of Skill Acquisition Students of Bina Foundation, founded by Chris Atuegwu and his wife, Lady Ifeoma, weekend. He said that contrary to the statement purportedly made by Ohanaeze that Ndigbo were being excluded, Buhari’s antecedents showed that “he loves Ndigbo,” warning Igbo to stop alienating themselves politically, but instead, embrace other parts of the country with open hands. His words: “I am sure the statement did not emanate from Ohanaeze. It is the personal opinion of the Secretary General, Dr Joe Nwaorgu, who is my personal friend. Ohanaeze has means of expressing its views through press statements, which are usually signed by the President General and the Secretary. Such statements must also emanate from Imeobi (inner caucus). “When you go to Buhari’s antecedents, you see his love for Igbo. His Brigade Commander was an Igboman. After the war, he did not kill prisoners of war. He brought back his classmates, J.C. Ojukwu and the other man from Ojoto in Anambra State. He is a good man. He keeps to himself and does not socialise but, he is disciplined in office.” Ngige further noted that since there was an understanding that the presidency would go round, Ndigbo would get their turn by embracing other parts of the country with open hands and not by talking about politics of alienation. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/12/ngige-to-ohanaeze-buhari-not-excluding-ndigbo/ |

Barely six month in office, the Commissioner for Agriculture in Kogi state, Dr Tim Nda Diche has resigned. His resignation was announced by the Director General, Media and Publicity to Governor Bello, Fanwo Kingsley at the end of the state executive meeting held at the government house in Lokoja. Fanwo, who failed to give details on why the Bassa-born businessman tendered his resignation letter, told journalist that the former commissioner resigned on personal grounds. Fanwo added that his resignation was received by the secretary to the state government, Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade. Dr Diche was among 15 commissioners appointed by g overnor Yahaya Bello in June 2016. It was not clear if Dr Diche was not in good terms with his principal, but unconfirmed sources however has it that the former commissioner was tired of signing documents and memos which were not originally prepared by his ministry. Sometimes last week, Governor Yahaya Bello threatened to sack any commissioner who is not in tune with his administration’s new direction agenda to move the state forward. Governor Bello gave the warning while addressing reporters after an unscheduled visit to Government Day Secondary School, Adankolo in the state capital, Lokoja. http://kogireports.com/kogi-agric-commissioner-resigns/ |

http://kogireports.com/prince-audu-won-2015-kogi-gov-election-kwakwanso/ …if late Abubakar Audu were to be alive as governor, Kogi State would have been wearing a new look. By: Odimayo Olatunde. The immediate past Governor of Kano State and now a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso has disclosed that late Prince Abubakar Audu won the 2015 Governorship election, but God in his mercy decided that he will not come back to continue from where he stopped in Kogi State. Senator Kwakawanso who made the disclosure at the first annual lecture of the late political icon, commemorating one year anniversary of his demise from mother earth called for the sustainability of his development legacies in the State. The event which was attended by prominent dignitaries from different works of life according to the serving Senator is a lesson to Nigerians, pointing that the late two time governor gained the maximum support during his electioneering campaign but is no more to fulfill all the promises he gave his people prior to the State Governorship election. While eulogizing late Audu for his remarkable achievement between 1992 and 2003, he noted that late Prince Abubakah Audu name will forever be written in gold not only in Kogi State, adding that a bridge was named in his honour in Kano State. He added that if late Abubakar Audu were to be alive as governor, Kogi State would have been wearing a new look, he charge leaders in the State to immortalize him for all his achievement in education, health, youth empowerment and housing. “When I and my friend, Prince Abubakar were governors, including other State governors, we won trophies for our outstanding performance in government but he “Audu” had the highest among us all. As a mark of respect, I used to seek advice from him, because of his intellectual and visionary attribute to making things work, he has that charisma of changing the fortunes of things for the development of his people”, Kwakwanso averred. Also speaking, the son of the late political icon, Prince Mohammed Audu described his father as a man for all season who died to liberate his people from poverty, malnutrition, health decay as well as infrastructural and under development. Prince Mohammed Audu maintained that his father laid a strong foundation for the State to strive politically, economically and educationally, adding that, during his tenure as governor, he established the Kogi State University, Anyigba, the first television station (NTA) Dangote cement factory, Obajana, Radio Kogi, Graphic Newspaper and was also involved in youth empowerment to rid the State from crime. On the new foundation initiated by him to continue with his fathers’ legacies which he titled, Prince Abubakar Audu foundation, the young Prince Audu promised that the foundation will be championed on empowering youths , women, old, young, poverty alleviation, scholarships and improve health services which will cut across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State. It will be recalled that late Prince Abubakar Audu who was born in 1947 died November 22, 2015 shortly before INEC declared the governorship election in Kogi State inconclusive. |
