Politics / Re: Naira Is More Value Than Dollar. by Achobaisiochu: 9:19pm On Aug 16, 2023
fuckJones:
naira is more Valuable than dollar And Pound.
Ignorance is Killing people like you. Wake Up!

A currency's value is what is can fetch those who use it as a means of exchange!
Those in America use dollars and those in the UK use pounds sterling. Emiratis use Dirhams and Indians Rupees. Nigerians therefore use the naira.
The naira today, is equivalent to 900 units to the GB£ and 760 units to the US$.
Though we are quick to lampoon the naira as worthless, but let us compare how much value each of these currencies equivalents fetch their owners/holders, within their borders?
In the US, a dollar ($) may not buy you more than a small bottle of water, while N700 will buy you a pack of 12 of the same bottles of water in Nigeria!
A pound (GB£) may not buy you even a small loaf of bread in London, but in Lagos, N900 will buy you and your partner, breakfast for 2, consisting of one N600 big loaf of bread, 3fried eggs and 2 bottles of water!
Days ago, I bought 50 pieces of medium sized oranges from the Ketu fruit market for N1,000, that's just $2! I bought 3 pineapples for N600 ($1.2)!
A litre of fuel costs N660 in Lagos, but cost $1.86 (N1430) in New York! While I know people who pay cad1,700 (N500,000) per month for their glorified room and parlour self-contained in Ottawa, that is what a friend pays in 12 months, for a 2 bedroom apartment, with separate toilet, bathroom and proper kitchen, in Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi!
So why do Nigerians make so much noise over the value of their currency, when it still fetches them more value than the other currencies that they pitch the naira against? The answer is simple: the "values" of Nigerians!
While Nigerians reacted with consternation at Dino Melaye's obnoxious display of his stolen wealth, the average Nigerian behaves exactly like Dino Melaye! From the man on the streets to the Churchpreneurs who claim to represent God!
They produce nothing, but want to flaunt everything!
Someone lamented to me about his wife's tenant, who has failed to pay N120,000 rent, for nearly a year, but slaughtered a ram and made festivities, worth N150,000, during the last Moslem "Ileya" festival!
Ask me what the man produces? Zilch!
Had this same debtor taken the N150,000, wasted on the one day feasting to the market, it will be more than enough to set up a fried Yam, sweet potatoes, Akara business, that can net him N300,000 monthly, and take him out of poverty and debt forever!
So, because Nigerians are unproductive at home, but consume from used clothes, to fake hair and eye lashes, to even PMS, from the abroad, they keep whining about the value of the dollar/pound-sterling against their currency.
There are universities in Nigeria, and I had my education entirely in Nigeria! So, if I chose to send my children abroad, what is the headache of the government in my personal decision, should the currency in their country of choice proves unaffordable to me? Who send me?
My personal definition of the problem with Nigeria is that, the policies of the State are manipulated to suit the indulgences of certain classes of Nigerians, who feed fat on the miseries of the masses.
Government resorted to importing fuel because some privileged Nigerians criminally destroyed our refining capacities. Rather than punish them, we put the punishment on Nigerians.
Government "subsidized" the same imported fuel, to create artificial opportunities for some privileged people to loot our treasury, under the artificially created system of "subsidies".
These Nigerians and their fraudulent economists should stop fooling themselves about the poor exchange rates of the nation's currency. 95% of the citizens of this country need food, water, Medicare, etc, obtainable in naira!
If some useless, lecherous and unproductive, yet entitled, vanity flaunting elements like Dino Melaye, need foreign currencies to feed their insanity, what has that got to do with Nigeria?
If you want to indulge in the zero nutrition Orange, imported from wherever and sold at times ten that of super tasting Oranges from Benue, must Nigeria care about your price plight? Who send you?
If you chose Pizza over Aboki freshly cooked spicy bread and eggs, please find enough naira to indulge in your borrowed Italian taste.
This argument over our poor currency is a lie of the elite to pass their problems as everyone's!
Days ago, I made a 4 litre bowl of cooked beans (enough to feed at least 8 adults) from a N800 ($1) measure of beans! Add another N500 ($0.cool worth of sweet potatoes, and you have a super nutritious meal for 8 adults!
That's less than $2 in total, N2k (including the costs of other stuff like onions, peppers and oil), to feed 8 adults?
Before you complain that the naira is weak, tell me what you need the foreign currencies for, and i will show you how you and Dino are the same

Copy.
The person that put up this is mumu person!
Is he or she trying to compare cost of living in Nigeria to that of USA or UK?
Cost of living in USA or UK is far more cheaper than that of Nigeria because their average earning can give them a high of volume of material thing and services compared to Nigeria e.g. minimum wage in USA per month is about $2000 and price of petrol is $1.098 per liter which is approximately $1.
Therefore, person in USA can buy up to 2000 liters of petrol with his whole monthly minimum wage.
But in Nigeria, minimum wage is #30000 which can only get your about 48liters of petrol.
If you foolishly want to compare naira to dollar value, then you should compare #1 to $1 or 1kobo to 1cent.
What can you buy with 1 naira and what can you also buy with 1 dollar in Nigeria or in USA.
Politics / Re: Balancing Minimum Wages And Economic Realities In Nigeria by Achobaisiochu: 8:36pm On Aug 14, 2023
It will take a person in USA earnings minimum wage which is approximately 2000dollar per month to buy 2000 liters of petrol with his whole monthly earning.
But for a Nigeria earning minimum wage of 30000naira will only get 48 liters of petrol with his whole monthly earning.
These are the reasons why we're suffering in this part of the world.
The disparity in the standard of living is so enormous, there is no way we can catch up with them instead we will be retrogressive poorer while they will be progressively richer

Atiku and Peter Obi have both closed their respective cases without proving how they won the election. So, the idea of the court declaring any of them the winner of the election is out of the equation.

The second part of their plea is to get Tinubu disqualified on three grounds. Shettima’s so called double nomination that has now been thrashed by the Supreme Court. 25% of FCT that the two parties seems to have abandoned as they didn’t push this argument seriously. Even if they’ve pushed it, section 299 already made it clear FCT should be treated like a state so it won’t even matter.

The third argument is to get him disqualified by a combination of certificate forgery, dual citizenship and drug conviction.

The certificate forgery is of two nature. Chicago state university and NYSC. As regards Chicago state university, the University already issued a public statement that Bola Tinubu graduated from the University. That alone is enough to settle the matter. All the gymnastic about the color or font of certificate is nonsense.

On NYSC, I would have expected Atiku’s legal team to subpoena NYSC to prove the authenticity of the certificate submitted by Tinubu but they failed to do that. So, how did they arrive at the conclusion that the certificate was forged? NYSC is the only authority that can confirm the authenticity or otherwise of an NYSC certificate.

On the drug conviction issue, it is as empty as the lawyer PDP brought to as witness to prove the case. The witness simply helped PDP to ruin a case that was faulty right from the start. There was no criminal conviction or indictment in the forfeiture. The communication from the US government to the IGP already cleared him of all allegation.

Overall, Atiku and Peter Obi simply wasted everyone’s time. They had no case of rigging so they had to throw in a lot of allegations hoping one will stick. Sadly, they proved none. The two cases will be dismissed with heavy cost to the petitioners.

Copied
What are you insinuating? Obi tender Certified Copies from INEC and also copies from IREV portal of 21 states to the court, which him and LP claimed that if calculated well his votes will topple Tinubu's votes and that he accumulated 25% votes of 24 states. He(Obi) tendered those copies as evidences to back up their claims and witnesses also, to prove to the court ; the INEC irregularities and malpractices in their conduct of the election.

This is why Yorubas are smarter than Igbos.Tinubu appointed an Igala man to take a position that should rightfully belong to Ndi Igbo and some efulefus are already celebrating angry
Ewu! What is wrong with you idi.ots! Even if he's Igala man as far as he is a South Eastern, we have been fully represented.
South East comprises of different ethnicity; Igbo majority and minorities like Igala, Idoma, Annangs and others.
So you are saying that these minorities tribes in South East will suffer and pass different hurdles with the Igbos and when it's celebration time, they will be relegated to the background.
This why the northerners are more formidable, they don't care about your tribe as long as you are a northerner and believe in North, even though Hausa is majority.
Do you know that Buhari, Dangote, Atiku, Shettima and some most high profile northerners are not of Hausa ethnicity.
Imagine me, as core Anambra boy and of South East origin, who believes, struggled and fight for my State and my region will be sidelined by my own people, God willing, I rose to a high profile position just because I'm of Igala origin.
It's very pathetic and discriminatory, I must be very honest.

I saw this online about the linguistic link between the Igala and Yoruba.
Probably you may find some similarities too if you could speak Yoruba. The Igala language is Yoruboid just like Itsekiri and linguistically related to the Yoruba
Yeah there are few words in yoruba that can also be found in Igala but linguistically Igala is very far from yoruba.

Thank you sir.
So do you mean that you don't speak or understand Igala? If you don't, how then do you prove that you are Igala? Is there like a body of all Igala?
Our Igala dialect is about 60% Igala language, 20% Igbo language and 20% of our peculiar language that is neither Igala nor Igbo. With these, Igalas will understood that we speak Igala but they find it difficult to assimilate the variant Igala we speaks. Igbos doesn't understand us even though we have 20% Igbo language in our dialect.

Therefore, invariably we can claim to be Igala and we might also claim to be Igbo but we can comfortably claim Igala because our language is more of Igala.
Though we answer Igbo names and we practice more of Igbo culture than Igala's...

Basically, the histories of boundary towns are so enormous, some might migrated from Igala but presently speaks Igbo while some might migrated from Igbo but presently speaks Igala.

Not concerned us with Igala in the north central that is Kogi Igala, they are our brothers and sisters, we shared boundaries with them but we have never been together with them in a state.
We are more tilted towards the Eastern region than Kogi, maybe because we can speak fluent Igbo language also.

His name is Ikechukwu and he is from Igbo-Eze North LGA, Enugu state which borders Benue and Kogi state but part of the Igala land before states demarcation. They are like the minority in South East and it's nice to know about them. I never really knew much about the Igala in South East and that they are so much and promised like that.

In the facebook post above, his village is listed among Enugu villages that still take their authority from the paramount chief of the Igala. They speak Igbo and Igala but ethnically Igala.

The Igala in Enugu extend to as far as Nsukka the capital of Enugu state so therefore, a significant part of Enugu state is ethnically Igala but they are from the South East not from North Central.
Exactly, many of us answer Igbo name and speak Igbo fluently but ethnically we are of Igala origin but due to proximity, acculturation, intermingle and intermarriage between we and Igbos we learnt and speak fluent Igbo language while maintaining our original language which is Igala.
