DoctorAyukebot: I wish we had five of your kind on Nairaland.
By the way I'm sorry to learn of the passing away of your wife. Life becomes meaningless for a while when we lose a love one. Some people never fully recover from the shock. I lost a brother several years back to brain problems. Before him I lost a sister to diabetes. She was only 20 years old when she died. Three years ago my mother passed on and four years ago my father.
I don't know which pained most. My sister's demise was the first I lost someone that close to the cold strands of death. I did cry my lungs when the corpse finally arrived home. I never made it to the mortuary cos was in charge of the funeral preparations at home. It's been 20 years since she passed on. I could go for months without missing or thinking about her despite having named my 18 years old daughter after her.
The experience is different with my brother. With Just a year apart we grew up like twins. He was at the hospital with my sister during her last days. When she fell into a diabetic coma, he fell into unconsciousness cos of the shock and only recovered to a depressed mood of psychological breakdown. (Madness)
After four years of psychiatric problems he too succumbed. It's been 16 years since he passed on but a day has never gone by without thinking about him. I did name my thirteen years old son after him. If I had to chose two persons from the world beyond to bring back to life, it would be him and him.
I don't miss my parents that much. My mum was just 59 years old when she passed on. Our relationship had become rocky over the years due to Pentecostal radicalism. I do blame her sometimes for my brother's demise, having refused us from seeking medical help for him on the hypothesis of God having revealed to her that, it was a spiritual issue that needed only prayers.
However it's hard to forget her. She was still a very caring mother and the good days are hard to forget. My father was 72 when he passed on. I don't particularly miss him that much but pity his last days made difficult by my mum who had become radicalized in a strange Pentecostal world of her own.
Daily when I pray I say "God whatever harm would befall my children let it befall me. I don't think I could stand the pain of losing one of them despite my inner strengths. Every iron ore has its melting point though. They are my melting point Hmmn... Thank you for sharing all of that with me, bro. I can only imagine the pain each of those losses must have caused, especially losing a sister and brother at such young ages. I agree that children can become our own "melting points." We want to protect them from any harm. |

Davoneskay: Typing ...
A mutual friend (who was in the occult) was sleeping with his friend's (also an occultist) wife. The husband to this adulteress later died for reasons we all do not know. During the services leading to his burial, as his tradition demands, his body was placed in a room. His close pals and relatives were allowed to go in and pay their respects to him (the dead). All did, but when my mutual friend (who's been banging the deceased wife) went in, while still saying, 'Adieu', he got a hard freaking slap from the dead and without blinking an eye bait, he (the wife fu*cker) returned the slap.
According to my mutual friend, the slap he returned to the dead was a super reflex action. To him, failure to respond as such would have led to his own untimely death within seven days.
N.B.: There are other information I left out, sha. This happened in Kogi State. I don't believe the dead can act as such save for those whom were possessed or in the occult. The demons in them can still act. I've seen here on NL where Ghanaian corpses walked to their burial grave.
Illicit Kobojunkie Acidosis Et al Ah, this is difficult to believe, but I won’t dismiss the story just like that. While I do believe that spirits exist, I honestly cannot confirm that the spirits of the dead physically communicate with the living. Through dreams? Oh yes, I’ve had at least two "accurate" encounters this year alone. I left those parts out because people wouldn’t believe me. |

illicit: Pls do... On the day my late wife was to be buried, just about a week after she passed, I went to the morgue with siblings, friends, and relatives. The mortician asked for someone to come and identify her body, which was already dressed for the lying-in-state, before she would be handed over to us. I jumped forward to do it without thinking because I had missed her. Everyone tried to stop me, but I insisted. When I went in, I saw her lying there as if asleep, dressed in a gown I had brought the day before. But she didn't fully look like the same woman I used to know. Reason is because she never slept on her back in that 'position.' The woman I knew would never sleep like because she loved "gum body" so much. I can’t fully explain how I felt seeing her like that tbh. I didn’t feel the need to cry, crying was the least thing in my mind, maybe because I had already cried my heart out especially on the night she passed or because I had concluded in my heart that “nothing dey this life.” I went numb and maybe d u m b. No tears, no thoughts, nothing. I was just looking at her, but I was too shocked to fully process her condition. Days, weeks, and even months have passed. There are still moments when I feel deeply sad and withdrawn, only to come out acting like I’m fine, but one thing that has remained consistent is how I feel about life now. I also have a deep sense of respect for people who take their relationship with God very seriously. It may be the only thing worth living for (by relationship with God, I do not mean idolising pastors or jumping from one prayer programme to another). I may have to write about this some other time. |

illicit: I am not actually saying there's no spiritual world
I just think it doesn't include dead people as they were. They will have to metamorphise
When you are dead you don't become a spirit and still use that same body. A spirit wil have always been a spirit, has no body.
You are not dead if you can still talk and walk and fight
The dead people in the morgue didn't become spirits as they were. If they became spirits it still doesn't mean they can leave the morgue and roam around or slap people or go out to buy fufu and scare taxi drivers.
A dead body can't do those things. If a spirit will do those things. It has to inhabit the body of a living person. Spirits do exist; they just can't directly interact or communicate with mortals the way humans do; sometimes they do so through dreams or through individuals with metaphysical abilities. |

I may be wrong, but I think your challenges began when you embarked on a journey you weren't fully prepared for. Many married men in your position secretly imagine their lives without marriage. Many feel they would have done much better if not for marriage. The only difference is that they don’t go on emotional outbursts, lashing out at their wives and embarrassing others.
Another group of men are those who, although single, have started taking on responsibilities typically expected of married men. These ones will never forgive themselves when they go broke later on in life.
Back to you, you seem like the type of person who gets very upset when you run out of cash. This is a major character flaw you need to work on, first by making sure you live within your means as much as possible. T-pain already makes this challenging, so put more effort on your emotions.
Your woman is not responsible for what you have become. You made your choices, you will live with those choices without hurting anyone in the process. A simple "No, I do not have what it takes to handle my father-in-law's burial rites" would have saved you this stress.
This idea of comparing your marriage with her 16 or 18 sisters makes no sense. There is no tradition on earth that mandates you to carry that responsibility on your head. If any exist at all in this customary reckless country, then you break it with dignity. If, in their own family, they expect in-laws to do such, make them realise that, in your own village, such customs are forbidden. It is not about them, but you. |

Nigerian pastors have brought this ridicule upon themselves. Many have completely lost their way, deviating from the true gospel handed down to us by Christ and the Apostles.
Know this today, there are no financial repercussions whatsoever for a non-tither. While I am not against tithing or any other freewill giving or offering, do not pay give tithe to a church with zero accountability. All funds received by your church each month must be properly documented for all members to see. I (and other members of my church) have access in hard and soft copies to our church’s financial records from the time I joined until now. This is how it ought to be.
Allowing yourself to be deceived by pastors who have commercialised the gospel may attract the same punishment as that of chronic sinners. Ignorance will never be an excuse. Stop leading your pastors to hell. |

Ekabobo: Am going to be as open as I can with this writeup... firstly I know it would help smone in future... Secondly writing is therapeutic for me.
In 2020 Wen I lost my dad... I was heavily preggy. they hid the news from me. Thinking I'd lose the baby. Wen I found out, I cried all day stopped eating n sleeping but I carried to term.
Fast forward to this preggy...I happened to stumble on hubby's chats late September...my world crashed...even more painful was the fact dat I had been caving in to his demands for sex even with a cerclage stitched jus to curb his yearnings... N every antenatal my doc wud say... Don't av sex till 37 weeks please... N I'd reply... Of course doc.
My world crashed after I saw those chat... I stopped eating... Stopped sleeping... Stopped laffing... Cried all day for weeks...every one said remember your condition...I didn't care... Didnt even remember I was preggy. My job starts at ten am.. But I wud go by seven am...jus to avoid hubby... I'd sit on the steps n cry till d security come by 9.30.. after work I'd roam around till nine pm, head back home n straight to bed...no food no shower... I was slowly loosing my mind.
I didn't even notice the baby wasnt kickin as befo.. I felt if I didn't lose a preggy from crying Wen my pop died... Den I wudnt now... Besides how does crying affect a preggy sef... Dats ridiculous.
October 18th after I roaming about n crying my soul out, got back home around 9:30 straight to guestroom soon as I laid down hot fluid gushed out of me .. I tot it was pee at first... I was jus 32 weeks n edd was December 5th... I started screaming Wen I realized my water had broke... Hubby rushed me to hospital dat night... Emergency scan showed d cerclage had broken and baby was weak wit very minimal activity....had to have a CS asap... The chief doc wasnt around so I had to wait till the next day... I kept begging God please let this baby live biko... If I lose her I'd run insane..I had the baby d next day... October 19th...She weighed 1.9... very fragile n tiny but strong. All the oxygen tanks n poking n pricking her for veins, her head one side sef come swell...phototherapy etc is another story on its own.
We got discharged fourteen days later...hmm.each time I look her...i shudder in fright at what my life wud be like if I'd lost her...am jus glad dat out of all this pain... Smtin sweet n priceless came forth... May our joy never be cut short... Amin... Hmnn First of all, congratulations on the birth of your little princess, and I'm so sorry about your dad's passing and the challenges you've faced. If you don't mind me asking, why did you get a cerclage? As for your hubby's chats, I don’t know the extent of it or whether he has shown genuine remorse, but if he’s making an effort to rebuild trust and is committed to doing better, try to work on rebuilding your relationship with him. There’s no guarantee he won’t do such again, especially in today’s world where social media makes temptation so accessible. But, if he’s willing to make things right, consider walking this path together. True fidelity comes from a place of self-discipline. With time, he'll get there if he's willing. |

Nobody saved him. It is not a "God versus Devil" thing. A gas station exploded in my neighbourhood many months ago. Many sustained various degrees of injury. Who caused it? Devil? It is okay to thank God for life or the gift of life, but saying God prevented the cylinder from blowing up is absurd. |

SUPERPACK: LPG which is cooking gas is odorless and colourless, the smell you normally perceived is an odorant added at gas production plants to aid gas leakage detection.
To the main question, gas actually has a range of combustion especially cooking gas, as you mentioned that this happened outdoor, it means the gas mixed up with the air and did not remain around to build up. For an explosion to occur it must take up 70% of the air properties.
If you want to understand more, switch on your gas valve keep a lighter or matchstick far above the gas like one to two feet and you will see that nothing will happen.
But should the leak be indoor and no ventilation from outdoor it would catch with a heavy gbosaaa. School is not a scam. People already attribute this to God. They think God just cherry picks people to save while He leaves others to perish. When another family does the same and they get a massive explosion, they conclude that God is not with them. Good or bad, God will be God. |
