Katsumoto: Some folks are so dubious, they will go to any extent to have a moronic opinion in a debate. If Yoruba folks in Lagos could not be classed as Yoruba because they weren't in the Western region, then the Yoruba in Benin republic must not be Yoruba as well. Similarly, the Igbo in the old Western region must have Yoruba as well since they weren't included in the Eastern region.

Too many dimwits in this section.
Those politicians do not regard themselves as Yorubas. They balk at any idea of being lumped together with Yoruba ethnic group. They fiercely resisted Awolowo and his politics. That's why Lagos is NCNC stronhold. Stop your misquoting my comment indirectly.

He doesn't know that Professor Eni Njoku was the Vice Chancellor of Univ. of Ibadan. I think Prof. Kenneth Dike was a Vice Chancellor in one of the universities in the west too. Dr. Akanu Ibiam was a celebrated surgeon and a knight of the Order of British Empire(OBE). The guy is simply ignorant.

Seriously, your allegation is ludicrous. You are not making sense.

And why the same British colonialist who NEVER practiced meritocracy in any of its colonies suddenly changed and embraced meritocracy in Nigeria..
Can you provide evidence that Britain abandoned meritocracy in their other colonies. You can't rule one-third of the world with mediocrity. I'm waiting. . .

I hate dumb debaters. Better grab your copy of the book or I can scan it and send to you. What the author did was to compile the speeches Zik gave and the documents he possessed. He did not know that debate will arise one day on how and who formed NCNC. The book was even published in 1979. Your excuse for casting away my proof is lame.

shymexx: Herbert Macaulay - the grandson of Bishop Ajayi Crowther..

He was the grandson of bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther and the son of the founder of the first secondary school in Nigeria, the CMS Grammar School, Lagos. After going to a Christian missionary school, he took a job as a clerk at the Lagos Department of Public Works. From 1891 to 1894 he studied civil engineering in Plymouth, England. On his return, he worked for the Crown as a land inspector. He left his position in 1898 due to growing distaste for the British rule over the Lagos Colony and the position of Yorubaland and the Niger Coast Protectorate as British colonies in all but name.

hahahahaha grin grin grin
You are a fo0l for quoting wikipedia for me. Now I will tell you how NCNC was formed.

NCNC was formed by the coalition between Nigeria Youth Circle(NYC) and the Nigeria Union of Students(NUS). Their patrons includes Zik and Macaulay. The seed was sown in November 1943 at a youth rally in Ojokoro. It might interest you to know that Herbert Macaulay was still the leader of Nigeria National Democratic Party(NNDP) at that point in time and their sphere of influence is limited to Lagos. In August 26, 1944, it formerly became known as National Council of Nigeria and Cameroon. Herbert Macaulay was adopted as its pioneer leader.

They will slap you when they are alive if you mistakenly call them Yorubas. They reject Awolowo and his politics and even take to western names culture and lifestyle.

shymexx: I'm not arguing against the last paragraph - however, what I've got problems with is the incessant lies by Igbo icons that Igbo "dominated" everything in Nigeria pre-independence because it was based on meritocracy... If it were based on meritocracy, the Yorubas from Lagos and Ogun, and the Itsekiris should have dominated because they were by far the most educated and qualified group in Nigeria at that point in Nigerian history... Even NCNC(which was later hijacked by Zik and Igbos) was a party started the Yoruba elites in Lagos and an Ijaw man...

To be honest, the rise of Igbos had more to do with their individualism, ability to migrate to the unknown, and their willingness to accept Christianity/westernisation at the expense of their culture... Suffice to say, the colonialists partially civilised the Igbos(just as the Luo tribe of Kenya) - and they saw Igbos as willing tools for servitude, period... Most of these people were psychologists and they knew what they were doing...
Which Yoruba man started NCNC? Why do you guys insist on twisting facts and history? Now tell me how NCNC was formed?

However, for a woman who had 2 lower segment cs incision OR 1 classical cs incision, subsequent deliveries can only be safely done through cs.

Consult your doctor,he is the one with the full history of your case.

Yames70: ACM 10 re u a doctor?
Do I sound like one? grin You may be closer to the truth.
I love ur replies!
{in Spanish}. . .muchas gracias{meaning. . .thank you very much}

like he said there must b indications b4 cs is done, but in developed countries, women who don't want to experience labour pains opt for cs.for me once a woman has had 4cs done,I advise her 2 stop,if am performing d 4th cs I give her d option of tubal ligation.
You are on point! cool There must be a specific indication for C/S. Labour pain can be controlled. Westerners experiences painless labour because they make use of anaesthetists. But Nigerian women do not ask for the option of painless labour. They either wants to show that they are brave or maybe they can't afford to pay the extra charges for the services of anaesthetist.
Most of them delivers in a maternity home run by an untrained traditional birth attendant. So, the phenomenon of painless labour is strange to them.
I think that 4 C/S is enough. The C/S must be elective. The woman should be properly counselled by the obstetrist on the options of family planning available and how it will benefit her. Thereafter, she will sign a form indicating her willingness to allow the doctor to proceed with the method of family planning she choose. She might not agree to the option of the tubal ligation on the operating table. Her informed consent must be obtained prior to the surgery. Cheers

danaz: cos mst women dat readily go for cs are literate n only few frm dat class short chg their health on d ground of 'my pastor said'..
Both literate and illiterate do C/S if there is an indication for it. C/S is not something that is in vogue. It is not reserved for high class women. Opt for it only on your doctors advice.

@others..cs is very safe baring any rare complication of surgery.researches conducted by ACOG shws dat morbidity frm svd is higher in d long run cf to cs.d lil prob we hv is d stone age state of our health care system.there are pros n cons.tying all tgeda,i prefer cs.
Now d more d nos of cs u hv d higher d risk.so a max of 3 or 4 is ok.
C/S is not a matter of preference. There are strict indications for it. No doctor will advice anyone to opt for it if there is no indication for it. Why not deliver per vagi.na under anaesthesia? What are you preserving it for? It's not fun to deliver through C/S. It gets worse when there is a history of previous classical incision on the womb. My dear, C/S is frought with a lot of dangers. Opt for it only on your doctors advice.

Bokoharam: I am surprised I have not read anyone here say, "My pastor says I can do one more...." strange really!
Trust me, in a life-and-death case like this, most women will trust the judgement of their doctors. It's only in a case that is not life-threatening that people cede their thinking faculty to their pastors and soothsayers.

Have you seen anyone rush an accident victim to a herbalist or a pastor? because, it's a matter of life and death. It's only when the person starts recovering that he/she places his/her pastors advice high in his/her scale of preference. Whenever they mentions their pastor as part of the management, know it that they have genuine fear that they will die OR that their case is not life-threatening.

PoliticsRe: If You Love Nigeria, Lets speak to Jonathan. Please Sign This Petition ! by ACM10: 4:11pm On Nov 25, 2012
ACM10: Signing this petition is tantamount to surrendering our sovereignty to foreign power. For God's sake, this petition is not going to sway the president even if it garners enough signatures. No one puts himself in a position of compromise with the media. This is why politicians mostly grants interview to friendly media outlets. How many interviews had Obama granted to Foxnews?

BBC is partly funded with British taxpayers money just like NTA. The only difference is that BBC enjoys a greater autonomy. That's why it can criticize its government. Just like it did to Tony Blair after the Iraqi invasion by accusing him of "sexing-up" evidence. Nevertheless, it is still a foreign press and a mouthpiece of British government. The same role which NTA plays for the Nigerian government.

Nigerian citizens lack internal pride that they can readily invite foreign elements to meddle in our internal affairs. This is another reason why this entity called Nigeria should dissolve. Can you imagine Americans signing a petition for Obama to be interviewed by the BBC?

This idea of signing up a petition to force our president to be interviewed by a foreign and presumably hostile media is moronic and dead on arrival. What a terrible waste of effort and energy!

[s]Or probably the Igbo people embraced colonial servitude before others, their individualism, and allowed westernisation to override their culture - hence why the British were more inclined towards the Igbos because they were willing tools for colonial control... This can't be far from the truth since Azikwe was a M15/M16 agent and he was used to rig the election that brought the North into power...

Sometimes I question the quality of your education. You are so ignorant. Facts cannot be changed with logic. Don't think that you sound intelligent. Get some books and read before commenting on some topics. I will suggest that you read this book to get an insight on how the North was able to dominate the military after independence.

*Nigeria's Five Majors by Ben Gbulie.

There are several books which you can read on how the North came to dominate the political sphere. But the root of it is on the census carried out by the British before the independence.

I don't blame him, I blame his greedy uncles and step mum.
Get your facts right. He was not prevented from attending his father's burial. His picture at the burial is widely circulated on the web. He was only prevented from performing the traditional rites as his father's first son, because he is not recognised as Ojukwu's first son by tradition. I don't think that there is anyone in Ojukwu family who is dumb enough to use the language "illegal" on him.

His uncle, Prof. Ojukwu is a distinguished professional. His sons and daughters are equally distinguished professionals who stays in oversea. I can never agree to any notion that Prof. Ojukwu is scrambling for the family property or wealth. It's simply a ludicrous notion. He has more than enough. Besides, he has the goodwill and loyalty of many professionals. He can maintain his lifestyle for the next 30 years with no qualm. The problem is with Chief Ojukwu. He is unemployed and short on cash to support his lifestyle. Financial pressure provoked his greedy instinct.

because you have Western education DOES NOT entitle you to rule Nigeria. No one is going to chase you around to give you posts just because you speak British English. Before the war, yes, many Igbos held positions of power but that was because our colonizer, Britain, put you in those positions of power. THey realized your tribe was less organized and best at kissing azz.

Once the British got kicked out and left Nigeria, you lost your advantage and decided you want to leave Nigeria too. That's a cowardly move.

It is even more painful that in the end, Biafrans were defeated purely by military capture of all their towns and their airports. So why were those children starved to death?

Katsumoto I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU.
CAN YOU TELL ME WHY THE YORUBAS
ARE THE ONLY TRIBE WITH THE BUSINESS
OF DEBATING OR ARGUING WITH THE
IGBOS ABOUT THE WAR?
Can you respond to this question? You blabbing bullshyt.

Katsumoto: Read Adichie's account again. How many times did she mention characters from the North with regards to the war?
She wrote the article bearing in mind the controversies it generated in Nigeria. Now tell me which tribe gave the most knee-jerk response(s) to Prof. Achebe's memoir? Why should she mention characters from the north when they hardly responded to the memoir?

Yet she managed to drag Awo's name into it and also of a phantom friend who was almost lynched by a mob that thought he/she was Igbo because he/she was light skinned. Are there no light skinned Yoruba folks?
I've seen many Yoruba folks attribute light skin to Igbos. One boldly declared that if they sees someone who is light-skinned in Ekiti, they quickly labels him/her "omo Ibo" until proven otherwise. Danjuma said in one of his interviews that northerners thought he was an Igbo because he is light-skinned. Why deny the obvious to score a cheap point.

Why did Adichie also need to go back into history back to 1952 (it was really 1951) to stress that Awo stopped Zik from being premier? Why didn't she talk about those pogroms against Ndigbo before Independence but which Ndigbo ignored before forming an alliance with the North?
How does pogrom relate to political alliance? BTW, NCNC formed alliance with NPC. Ndigbo did not form an alliance with the north. You use NCNC and Ndigbo interchangeably when it suits your purpose. Zik would have formed an alliance with Awolowo if he did not attempt to pull stunts on him. It's on record that Awo sent his deputy, Akintola to negotiate for an alliance with NPC while he was negotiating with Zik for a possible alliance. What do you have to say about Awo's treacherous conduct?

When you folks stop mentioning Yoruba folks in your whining, Yoruba folks will stop responding to you.
We can't divorce some Yoruba characters from the history of Nigeria. Whenever the debate comes up. Be sure to hear more of those Yoruba characters. We are telling you people the uncomfortable truth of the conducts of some of your past leaders. It's left for you to respond in the manner you deemed necessary. No one is whinning here. If telling history is whinning, I'd rather whine till I die.
