Approved ,just waiting for payment and upload of required documents. Its really tough registering with COREN especially for those coming from very far places

The so called Professional bodies in Nigeria seem to be nothing more than gatherings of people with oversized egos. It doesn’t make sense that a person who has studied engineering for five years can’t be called an engineer unless they register with COREN.
Why do lawyers need to go to law school after already obtaining a law degree?
Even accountants have to pass ICAN exams to be seen as real accountants after spending years in the university for a degree. This kind of absurdity only happens in Nigeria—where did our policymakers pick up these practices?
Wrong!!. You've to be registered before you can be called Engineer. That's how it is ,everywhere in the world including almighty America.

Coren exam is around 30mks, technical report 40mks, qualifications + others thing I think around 30mks also, so there no way someone will not score at least 15/30 in the exam. Major mks is from the technical report. Pass mark is 50%. Dressing is just 2mks, current affairs 2mks

Spiral Binding is mostly used...

It could be signed by mostly your confirmer, because he is the one you spent minimum 4 years experience with... Proposer can also sign... Make sure any one signing must be financially up to date....

Lastly, dress corporate when going to write the exam ...
What of if the confirmer is in another field different from the field I'm working. For example I'm in electrical engineering but confirmer is a registered civil engineer

Will the Technical report be spiral binded or bounded like those use for Bsc project. Also, must be signed and stamped by one of the proposer or another registered engineer

Good morning...
Stamped Concrete should last for at least 7 years on the average before showing signs of maintenance and places with less traffic like you said will last much more.

As regards cost of maintenance, Interlocks has lower cost of maintenance as you may just need to remove the weeds that grow between the spaces and relay the Interlocks incase some portion sinks.
Also if you use nylon and do small concrete casting before laying Interlocks it will last much more.
What do you mean by the sentence in bold. Concrete before laying pavers?

No miracle can happen in Nigeria, it’s gone for good, before end of the year cement will be 10k per bag, dollar will be above 3k, nothing will work because it’s built on lies and deceit, that is why the good , upright and sincere people can not prosper in Nigeria, no matter the grammar and policy put in place it will not work,it is so because it’s same ruling class, eg a former accountant general looted over 300billion , he hosted a party in his house when he was granted bail, emeifele looted trillions operated over 500 accounts , he is in his house watching Afcon with expensive luxury wines, beta Edu diverted 3billion , she is in her house doing make up, these re what the system sees as upright people, examples 2, uae arrested sum terrorist sponsors in dubai linked to boko haram and jailed them, later named their collaborators in Nigeria that operate bureau the change through which the launder money, none of them were arrested , or persecuted talk more of been in jail, they re all sleeping well in their air conditioned houses in abuja, example 3, the billions fg used to rescue dangote refinery , imagine it was used to promote small and medium enterprises, share it to a million youths that are into sme and each indirectly employs 5persons do you know what it means, instead it was giving to one person that will not will not employ more than 5000 Nigerians, the fuel price will not go down, he will not by Nigerian crude, and he will still source the scare dollar in Nigeria to buy American crude , putting more pressure on naira, Labourer’s in core northern states now travel to Niger republic to look for jobs , because naira is now worthless to cfa, Nigeria is now a laughing stock in comity of nations, for those whom think prayers will save Nigeria re wasting their time, majority of Indians and Chinese re Hindu and Buddhist , but have sent people to space, all have good economy, giving good lives to their people, but Nigeria remains one of the most unfortunate country in the world despite blessed with natural and human resource
Chai?? We are finished. Those morons in power should come to nairaland to read this. What's the hope for an average Nigerian?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: When You Are Too Old To Work by acorntree(m): 1:09pm On Jan 15, 2024
A305:
Most not so rich Nigerian parents practically invest in there children to earn returns from them (the children) by a way of taking care of them in their old age.

Myself I don't fancy that, that's why I had to learn trading crypto currency so even when I'm old and senile, I will still be earning in my own little way. However, most people tend to fall back on earnings from their real or fixed asset such as properties and the likes and the once who were successful in building a business will continue to get paid by their business even in retirement.

The smart ones invest in the money market such as: bonds, shares, stock, Treasury bills and Mutual funds in local and foreign market and currency.

So when is it too old to work — no specific age, provided you still alive, healthy and have the desire to earn to remain relevant in the society.

Fun Fact: The average Nigerian buys land or build a house first when he hammers in hopes to secure his future. (Real Estate Banking)
All these are easier said than done. Things most time don't work as planned. Invest first in your children and also planned for old age by investing in properties like land , rental houses. Business and all these crypto may failed you.
PoliticsCan Nigeria Become A Sought-after Country Just Like Developed Countries Like UK, by acorntree(op): 7:46pm On Jan 07, 2024
I knew that development of a country is a complex and multifaceted process influenced by various factors of which I believe we can influence as individual or as group of committed people.

Nigeria has significant potential for development. It possesses vast human and natural resources, a large population, and a strategic geographical location. However, can we achieve the same level of development seen in countries like the UK, USA, or Germany if we have a long-term commitment and concerted efforts . To be sincere Nigeria is becoming unlivable for an average and innocent citizen. What I mean by innocent is that, those who don't involve in shady dealings in other to survive in the Nigeria system. What area do we really need to pay attention for Nigeria to really develop and to be a sought-after country. These are not about APC or PDP , or between Tinubu /Atiku/ Obi. Let's be factual. For those who don't have the means to Japa, what's the hope for us.

TravelRe: Why Do Nigerians Think The Whites Are Richer compared to them? by acorntree(m): 3:21pm On Jan 05, 2024
Sladem05:
What a dumb comparison. Poverty in the West is different to Poverty in Africa. Poverty in Africa is like none other on this planet. Poor in the West will still have basic amenities like constant power, running water etc that’s not for the poor in Africa. Compared to Africa (even for the poor), America is Disneyland compared to Africa.
To measure poverty level, three steps need to be taken.
1. Defining an indicator of welfare.
2.Establishing a minimum acceptable standard of that indicator to separate the poor from the non-poor (the poverty line).
3.Generating a summary statistic to aggregate the information from the distribution of this welfare indicator relative to the poverty line.

On 1, Nigeria is no where to be found on welfare package for the citizen, extremely poor. On 2 minimum acceptable level for one to be rich is #500k per month salary, one can still live average life, having personal car, modest house etc. How many Nigerian earn above #500k per month? .on 3 statistics to aggregate the distribution of wealth in Nigeria is not reliable as most acclaimed rich people wealth are not transparent as most are into shady dealings. To be sincere unless one just deceiving himself, large percentage of Nigerians are poor. Those acclaimed weathy individual like otedola are one in million. They are just outliers. In summary, Average White live far better life than Average Nigeria
CareerRe: Is 400k Job In Nigeria Worth Staying Or Should I Japa? by acorntree(m): 11:48am On Jan 03, 2024
Elsucre24:
I will be 31 this year. Omo the age is scaring me and I keep feeling like I’m not doing enough. I have a stable job in the private sector with a 400k monthly salary. But I still feel the impact of the economy badly. I keep asking myself, at what point will I start living the good live?
I feel stock sometimes because my job is very demanding and I almost do not have time to do other things, mind you I’m in the medical field and I work Mondays to Sundays most times but occasionally I have some Sundays to myself and sometimes a day off during the week. I can’t seem to be able to start a business as a side hustle cause most of the side hustles I can think will demand my presence at least for the first few months and I don’t really have that.
My girlfriend is pregnant, I really wanna keep it but she’s not ready, I’m not even sure I’m ready. The only way she can keep it is if I’m going to get married to her before the pregnancy starts showing and I’m as confused as hell cos I don’t know if I’m ready. She has always been vocal of her plans to japa.
Now that brings me to the idea of Japa too. I mean, I cannot deny that fact that I’m scared of the whole japa stuff cos I don’t know what to expect. Economy doesn’t even allow you save as much as you should. Everything’s just seems very scattered.

Pls I need adult minds to advise me on what I can do.
1. Do I start a business, what kinda business can I start with at least 2M that will not require my full presence?
2. Do I start to plan my japa through the study route and just face my fears
3. Should I insist on keeping the pregnancy and hope that things start making sense? This means I have to get married tho.

Thank y’all.
Japa require huge amount of money. Do you've above 10million Naira in your account.

epainos:
Olodo is a dullard. I am not insulting them, but saying that they are dullards. What do you call anyone who calls himself a researcher and cannot think of some ways to make seeds for his nation? Is that person a genius?

Sir, they are olodo...as in dullards. And dullards don't get an increment in salary. So, you don't get that this is my point? A stupid president will raise the salary of those olodos. I wrote earlier...if I were the president, I would decrease it further and promote salary increments based on performance. Shikena.

And you want the Nigerian government to keep spending on them because the discussion is about education. Lol. So, the money they will collect is not from income from industries and profit from good economic policies...right? Ok oooo.

They are olodos. Period. And olodos don't deserve fat salaries. Shikena.
I understand that you have strong opinions about certain Nigerian lecturers and their abilities. However, it's important to maintain respectful and constructive dialogue when discussing issues partaining to others. Labeling lecturers as an "olodo" or a dullard is derogatory.

Furthermore, intelligence and job performance are complex and multifaceted. It's not appropriate to make blanket judgments about people's abilities based on limited information or personal opinions. Different individuals have different strengths and weaknesses, and it's important to consider a wide range of factors when evaluating their performance or potential contributions. Lecturers are not only meant to teach but also to do research. The task is huge and no resources to do these tasks effectively as there are no reliable electricity, internet services very poor etc. shouting they don't produce quality seed is not main task for those lecturering in crop farming
