MAYOWAAK: I am aware that many of us were fed with stories of pregnancies trapped in women for 3 years by witches and wizards. Perhaps I expected too much by assuming we have outgrown such stories. It seems my assumption is incorrect. Now, a foetus is said to be at term after completing 37 weeks in the uterus of its mother. Some are born before this 37 weeks. These are the premature babies(provided they have attained the age of viability - this varies depending on how sophisticated Neonatal care is in that society. Age of viability in America and Britain is 24 completed weeks of gestation. Someone once mentioned that it is about 20 weeks in Australia(I'm not sure). Age of viability in Nigeria is 28 weeks. These premature babies stand a good chance of survival with proper neonatal care. As there are babies who 'make haste' to leave the womb - the premature ones I just talked about - so are there those who stay beyond their due date. The longer they remain in the womb, the higher the risks of placenta insufficiency (that effectively starves them of nutrients and oxygen), infections and demise. This risks get considerably high by 4 weeks post-date such that even the most optimistic obstetrician would induce labour or deliver the baby by Caesarian section. So, when a clown comes around to tell us she was pregnant for 25 months. We have every right to get angry for attempting to insult our sensibilities. Before even the 11th month, the foetus would have died, become macerated, and caused grave complications like overwhelming sepsis, diseminated intravascular coagulopathy etc in the mother. Without serious intervention, even the mother would be no more. Don't swallow all I have said cos I am no authority in this field. Verify with the aim of finding faults. I am a learner too. But certain things are stupid even to an apprentice.

Obi has not borrowed a penny but he is still not lagging behind on providing infrastructure and dividends of democracy. Afterwards Father Ede is from Enugu state but he built the first Nigerian private university (Madonna) in Anambra outside his own domain. Does that take away the fact that he is from Enugu state and owns real estates in Anambra state.

Lagos is heavily indebted, but it's investing in infrastructure, Iyiagu Awka estate cannot be compared to Udoka Housing Estate let alone Lekki. If Peter Obi is financially prudent, he could borrow money to boost the state's infrastructure. He has a house in Enugu, past SSG lives in Enugu. Most of his aides, commissioners, and contractors live in Enugu, why? Enugu has better infrastructure! Have you thought about the capital flight to Enugu due to lack of infrastructure? Udoka housing estate was built by Ezeife... Still the best in the state. Most Anambrians would rather live in Enugu than Awka.. Why? No infrastructure. A prudent governor borrows money to wisely invest in his state.I'm tired of hearing that Anambra is least indebted, but we should add that it is most infrastructurally challenged among her peers. Libya was least indebted, Dubai was heavily indebted, but people all over the world are ready to live, work and invest in Dubai! BTW, a prudent governor does not go around with 18 cars out of which 12 are Bulletproof Toyota Landcruisers.

Many of us who don't visit these places assume automatically that they're lacking in everything.

The govt just wants to build a BIGGER and BETTER hospital.

You have a bloated sense of Naija's sophiscated hospital system. Last December, I was at trauma center, National Orthopeadic Hospital , Enugu built by OBJ in 2000s. The place looks like a police college, patients sleeping on hard metal surface bed,flies, unclean environment, overcrowded bed. Why didn't Chime use those hospitals?

A comparison is based on 2 known conditions. It takes a NID to know that Naija is headed in the wrong direction. How can you say that Abeokuta is better than Abuja when you have only lived in Abeokuta all your life?
