What an arrogant display of ebolanized logic.. Everybody hates it that darkness has worsened; power doesn't discriminate who voted for whom. Tomato prices don't discriminate who is APC brigand vs PDP agent. Petrol prices don't care if you belong to 97% or 5%.. As a matter of fact, 97% is going to feel it a lot more cos poverty is more prevalent amongst that group and its quite insensitive of govt to introduce policies that are hurting the already impoverished masses.

I have a problem with Islamic extremists , I also have a bigger problem with gays. I also have a problem with the USA hastily linking the attack to "Islamic terrorist" whereas the shooter is not even on the US terror watch list, so as to attract public and world sympathy so that they can condemn the attack for them to forget that they legalised useless gay marriage and sex. So everything all together are evil. Both the stinking gays and the attack.
Keep ur morality out of this. The point is, this terrorist killed 50people, just like Dyan Roof killed blacks in a church. This is a hate crime and an act of terrorism.

Hello Nairalanders, What do you guys think about the persistent tomato scarcity and the Tuta absoluta dummy being sold to us by the FG?

I guess i am the only thinking and asking, Why is it now that Dangote recently opened a Tomato paste production factory that Tuta absoluta ravaged tomato farms in Nigeria.

Secondly, did the pest eat both the plant and the tomato seeds, thereby stopping reproduction? One thing i know for sure is Tuta absoluta have been around for so long and if you even plant anything apart from tomato pests must definitely eat some, so why is the new Tuta absoluta eating everything and not leaving anything for us or should we just agree that its a conspiracy between Dangote absoluta and FG absoluta?

Again FG told us that adultrated tomato paste had flooded Nigerian market and this could lead to cancer.. Question: Should we wait for Dangote tomato paste to be out before we start cooking with paste again?

Just musing tho....

How come Yar'dua beat him again?? GEJ organized the first election where he was beaten again. So every time he lost, it was rigged, but the first time he won, it was all free and fair even though same INEC under GEJ conducted both elections.
You are a political neophyte who feeds off sentiments and lies peddled by Politrickians and sycophants.

We also know that PMB's one year has been a failure in all aspect. My point is... Let us support our president(like it or not GEJ z gone). We cannot keep praying for GEJ n expect PMB to work(he needs our support). Now PMB should admit dere were flaws in his first year and he shld start locating/solving dem instead of calling GEJ(this z a country, not a small state). As a matter of fact GMB has proven his detractors in SE/SS right. They alleged that he would be a sectional and divisive leader, he has turned out to be one. How can SS/SE hate his tribe when they voted for Tofa and MKO/Kingibe. They voted for Yar'dua. They rejected GMB/Okadigbo ticket; they rejected GMB/Umezoke ticket-all Igbo sons rejected twice!! Even SW had rejected him until last year. Most southern folks had unfavorable of him befor the election unlike OBJ who was viewed favourably in the north to beat him one. Yar'dua was viewed favourably; so was GEJ viewed favorably in 2011, but GMB always had no following in the south. I was one of the people who believed that he should be given a chance, but he lost me on 97% vs 5% and appointing same PDP cross-carpeters to god cabinet, same folks who stole from their states to fund his campaign

Martins301:
Dele Momodu likes to talk from all sides of his mouth. You spend time composing an epistle as long as river Nile and then fill it with half truths and over generalizations.

For your information sir, the WHOLE country never accepted Jonathan's defeat in good fate. If they did can you explain the sudden agitations from the SE region that has plagued the government since May 29 2015?

Am quite sure you are aware that recent militant activities are an offshoot of those same agitations but you won't say so.

The government has made meaningful progress in keeping to it's mandate. It has beefed up security (applicants no longer pay to apply for government vacancies) and also commenced implementation of it's social intervention programs.

What I expect you to do is write an even longer epistle asking all those who have stolen and stashed our foreign exchange in their bedrooms and faraway lands and banks to return the money. Tell those who are painful losers to accept defeat magnanimously and pray for Nigeria's progress and stop being a peddler of lies and bad omen.
GMB got the lowest amount in any presidential election since 1999. He went ahead to say that he would not run n inclusive govt by treating 97% that voted for him better than 5% that opposed him.
He just won by 3m votes while GEJ, Yar'dua and OBJ all beat by over 10m votes and none made such divisive and vindictive statement.
As a matter of fact , his region gave GEJ the lowest number of votes, but he built more schools in that region than in SS/SE.
Also, SW didn't vote for OBJ in 1999, but he rewarded them handsomely with govt projects and juicy appointments
GMB is just vindictive and inflexible.

?

You hate your country so much and so tribally consumed that you accept and think inferior and low scale rubbish in another country is better than the more comprehensive and sophisticated project in your own country.

The Lagos metro system with 10 lane expressway is the largest public works project in Nigeria and the whole of Africa as we speak.

This is the kind of project sovereign nations embark on and not an ordinary state in Nigeria.

Ethiopia is a country and Lagos state is a state.

It took a whole country like UAE with vast oil money to complete ordinary metro rail project without 54km expressway or having to build a whole metro bridge over any body of water like the Lagos lagoon.

The things that your should be proud of about your own country is what you hate so much .. You gladly assept lesser and inferior things from other countries as superior and better than yours when in fact common sense and a little education should tell you it's the other way around.

Beats me why you and your kind don't reserve your hatred and bitterness for your village leaders with nothing to show for your taxes and allocations.

You spend so much time hating other people and their progress that you remain blind to your own lack of progress or anything to show for your existence.

How do you know he was justifying the murder? After condemning the murder, he admonished everyone to understand one another's religions to live peacefully. That is a piece of common good advice in a "religious" state like Nigeria. I don't understand how that is justifying the barbaric act.

There is a piece of advice my dad usually gives me anytime I am visiting Nigeria. He would tell me, even though he knows how quiet I am, never to argue religion with a Muslim.
It's insensitive for GMB to infer that she was the the villain because some thugs alleged that she was blaspheming their religion.. Is there anything like that in Naija law?? Nope!! Why did he pander to those religious fanatics?? Life is sacred and irreplaceable and must come first before religion! The message still embodies some justification for their action .If she didn't blasphem their religion, she would have been alive. No Nigerian has the right to take another person's life irrespective of religion, tribe or political affiliation. This woman's right to life was violated and GMB was talking about religion? What isn't blasphemy to your religion does exist in my religion, does that mean that I should kill you??

J
LordofNairaland:
I wrote: "She might have been sentenced to death, if found guilty "

Endeavour to read my posts well in future. Moreover, I only used the sharia court trial as a balance to weigh Buhari "crime of breaking a Christian dress code" and the woman's "accused crime of desecrating the Qur'an".

The question you should ask yourself is: "Why didn't they accuse her of anything else but blasphemy?" Why blasphemy?

I am not justifying the murder. The reason why I am on this thread is because:

The OP twisted Buhari's statement to agree with what he (the OP) erroneously perceives Islam to be. He thinks Islam is evil and intolerable and thinks that Christians are tolerable. He thinks that if Christians were violent, they would have given Buhari the same treatment they gave the pastor's wife.

So I tried to explain to him that the woman was accused of desecrating the Qur'an and not for breaking dress codes at a religious gathering. There are different punishments for different crimes. Breaking dress codes isn't as heavy as desecrating the Quran. The fanatics who killed the woman could have accused her of passing in front of their religious gathering wearing a mini skirt but they didn't. They could have heaped different lies on her but they didn't. Instead they picked their usual lie (blasphemy) to get justification.

I am not defending anyone. I am not a religious person. But I will not like that the president's admonition be polarized along religious lines. Anyone could have made that statement. We all need to understand each other. That was what the president said and people like the OP read it in isolation and twisted it.
Defending president's statement shows that you are still in agreement with him for blaming the victim.. It was insensitive to suggest that had he woman respected her aggressor's religion, her life would have been spared.
The mistake contained in that statement is that we place religion over human life. He also suggests that death is the ultimate price to pay if you are accused of " disrespecting" their religion.
Since BH is holding Naija hostage and millions of Muslims are sympathetic to their fight, GMB missed a golden opportunity to take action that would deter potential BH recruits/sympathizers

You can lie to yourself.. You justified their action by saying that the woman might have been sentenced to death by Sharia if she he had been to court.. Big difference is, she was never tried in any court.. Btw, are Sharia courts allowed to try non-believers ? You are still suggesting that she was remotely responsible for her death...

Alas, no competent medical doctor would certify " healthy as a fiddle" and then send you for further tests in less than 24hrs!!
Stop defending SA's statement.. If he didn't want to mislead, he would have hinted that the president suffered minor ENT problems which didn't interfere with his duties or that they were waiting for test results or Doctor's advice.

I never said they were right in murdering the woman. I even pointed out that there is a difference between Muslim extremists (those that killed the woman) and good Muslims (those who have joined others to condemn the dastardly act).

The woman was accused of desecrating the Qur'an. There is a possibility that if she had been taken to a Sharia court, she might still have been sentenced to death if found guilty. I don't think the sentence for breaking a dress code is heavy so assuming the Christians could try Buhari, he wouldn't get a death sentence. That was why I said your comparisons flaws your point and makes useless your thread.
