@dazangel11 I am beginning to thnk that this forum is anti-OBJ Because if na OBJ or him person get that kind fat account una go dey shout up and down Na wah Oh. because most folks here are more enlightened to know that OBJ has not set the pace for anti-corruption. OBJ has to lead by example. What difference does it make that you may not be a thief, but you wine and dine with thieves who are your friends? Besides this case is fait accompli beacuse Tinubu has immunity from prosecution. So tell me what was their motivation for 'charging" Tinubu since he cannot be prosecuted. |
Iyke-D I do not know if you were reffering me as Atiku's man even when all my posts are not indicative of it. Mind you, I am not comparing Duke and Yar Adua. The choices were Atiku, Buhari, and Yar Adua which was no brainier. Also, that PDP rigged the elections doesn't necessary translate to the fact that Yar Adua rigged the elections as well - that's an unfair statement. I highlighted some of Yar'dua flaws and you rose to his defense by saying that he was one of the best performing governors. You are yet to prove me wrong on this. As for Yar'dua not being an accomplice in rigging election is just like absolving Chris Ngige from 2003 rigging in Anambra. When the courts ruled, the decision affected Ngige's position as governor. What you are saying is that someone who keeps or buys a stolen property is not an accomplice. How could Yar'dua not rig elections when PDP led government committed electoral fraud? It will be foolhardy to think that Yar’dua was not in the know when PDP hatched it plans to rig election. He is the greatest beneficiary of electoral fraud in Nigeria, so he cannot be absolved. If indeed they are able to protest, you bet PDP will marshall out more people to counter that protest, because the truth of the matter was that there were millions of Nigeria that truly voted for Yar Adua too. I guess this weakens your Abacha's argument since no one voted for him.. This does not in any way weaken my argument because Nigerians "revolted" during military regime and war as you espoused did not break out. Comparing Nigerian situation to Liberian situation is a little bit exaggerated because we are not at war but in disagreement with INEC results. By the way Liberian elections were much better organized than Nigeria's. Duke will be known for Tinapa alright, but the Obasanjo haters will not admit that had it not being for the support of the Federal Govt. and its reforms, Tinapa wouldn't have seen the light of day. I dont know why you get the gist that OBJ should be glorified for Duke's Tinapa. Why didn’t FG build one in Abuja? Does it mean that we only need one Tinapa in Nigeria? Duke had the Tinapa vision OBJ did not have . If OBJ is glorified for Duke's vision, could he also be vilified for bad leadership in Abia state? It’s also worthy of note that Duke is not OBJ's appointed minister, so there is a clear separation of functions among three tiers of government. I wonder if you really know the difference between OBJ haters and OBJ policy haters. I am for the later. |
http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=76488# INEC Abandoned Ballot Papers in S/Africa -Atiku From Andy Ekugo in Abuja, 04.26.2007 One week after the general elections, it has been alleged that millions of printed ballot papers are still in a warehouse in South Africa. The Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation made this allegation in a statement that INEC deliberately starved most polling stations of presidential ballot papers to give room for the fraudulent results released on Monday. This was made public yesterday by Dr Gary K Busch, a UK based international transport and logistics expert, the organization stated. “Contrary to claims that the eleventh hour Supreme Court judgment on Atiku’s participation in the election was responsible for both the late arrival and shortage of presidential ballot papers, the Atiku Campaign can confirm that INEC deliberately left 70 percent of the ballot papers in a warehouse in Johannesburg, South Africa , where the 65 million ballot papers were printed. The contractors could have freighted the entire 200-ton consignment into the country three days before the election (Thursday) but INEC told them to bring only 30 percent of the ballot papers”. This the organisation believes is a monumental fraud and mind-boggling waste of tax payers money. perpetuated by INEC in the name of holding shamelections. |
how about akara and pap |
Iyke-D I hope we are not misconstruing revolution for war. Remember pre 1999, Chidi Ubani, Gani and co organized 5 million march to counter Daniel Kanu's 1 million march- (Youth Earnestly Ask for [sup]You can knock Yar Adua all you want, but he will still emerge among one of the best performing governors in Nigeria, maybe our standards are lower, but you can't take that away from him. [/sup] I am not praying that Yar'dua should fail, but he has no impressive record to lead me to believe that he can deliver. Why don’t you provide a contrary evidence to show that he is one of the best performing governors in Nigeria even though he never made it to the top five? This list was prepared by UNICEF and National Planning Commission. [color=#990000]Also, since when has JAMB being the only yardstick for measuring a governor's performance in office? [/color] Maybe you should tell us other ways of measuring his performance in education. Using JAMB as a yardstick is even a lower benchmark given the fact that it reflects his achievement in education only. Let's remember that education is one out of many problems facing Nigeria. A sitting governor who has not done much in that area is very incapable of being a leader. He could not change the status quo in his state, do you now think that he can change anything in Abuja where he will work with NASS, and unfamiliar ministers? Also, how much was Katsina's monthly payroll or where you thinking the N3.6B should have been spent on education alone? What we need most at the helm of affairs is a man of steel, honesty, and integrity - no one is yet to accuse Yar Adua of lacking any of these. I wonder if any of these qualities make any meaning to Nigerian politics. Does a person of integrity and honesty rig elections, commit electoral fraud? Intimidate opponents? and impose his electoral fraud on Nigeria? Let's not exaggerate issues; most Nigerian politicians do not embody these characters you ascribed to Yar'dua. If he judiciously spends a considerable amount on education, there will be a lot of progress in his state. As Tinapa is to Duke, what will Yar’dua be known for? |
Thank you Debosky. There is a legal precedent to this case. Gani Vs Tinubu. So what kind charge and bail lawyers does Mr. President have? They are always getting involved in cases they cannot win. Iyke- D, I don’t know why you brought Ojukwu into this discussion. Maybe you should open another thread to tell us how incorruptible and detribalized OBJ is. By the was did OBJ declare his assets? Did he state the source of his N200 million shares in Transcorp? |
@ Mosetra While your president elect cannot even send his people to school even with 3.6 billion naira a month. kai naija is visionless. Which one is utopia building school and not building school? |
Government of illegality and folks are shouting for OBJ's government. Do we not know that Tinubu has immunity that protects him from prosecution? There is a precedent to this case Gani Vs Tinubu in his certificate forgery wahala. Why does FG start cases they cannot win? Maybe we do not know that attorney general of the federation is not OBJ's lawyer. If OBJ wanted to prosecute corrupt governors, why did he not introduce a legislation that will strip them of immunity? Orji Kalu and Atiku floored Code of Conduct Bureau. What happened to Gov. Chimaroke who was alleged to have owned about 171 houses? Another face saving mission to distract the attention of Nigerians from his selection. |
Laudate Why picking on oxytcod and docwytx instead of " Sweet T" who started and tribalized this thread. Now you have some folks sticking out for their people and you are shouting crucify them. Now you have some folks who are bombarding fire to fire For the record, Igbos are not educationally lagging behind in Nigeria. |
@ Dis Guy what were the figures before 1999? the number of female applying for jamb/college and polytechnic increased by about 40% from that jamb site he certainly isnt a miracle worker, think about their culture, poverty up north. So if he cannot change his folks in the north, can he now perform miracle in Nigeria. Can you provide an evidence to show that Yar'dua has increased JAMB application in his state to 40%. [sup]the poeple that say he is less corrupt are not those in his state alone, CBN, EFCC and icpc* didnt really have anything to say about him moving money abroad. [/sup] Did CBN, EFCC and ICPC say anything about Gorge Bode, Adedibe, Andy Uba, Tony Anenih? What happened to all the billions he received since 1999? Katsina got about 3.6 Billion from federal allocation in Feb 07. Here is a link for your perusal. http://www.fmf.gov.ng/detail.php?link=faac Dis Guy @ don't you think that will be a bit selfish; he actually built hospitals and one* with dialysis facility why he didnt get treatment there is another matter. Selfish that he was not ranked in top five of performing governors or that he never made any landmark achievement in his state. That means he built a sub standard hospital. How can you not live in a house you built? what are the evidence utomi, buhari, atiku can perfom better? A comparison is based on two existing conditions. Yar'dua has a verifiable public record while Utomi has none. I will forever vote for Pat Utomi because of his success in business and education. He has never held any public position, so we check Yar'dua on his achievements. I can never vote for Buhari or Atiku. Comparing Yar'dua's achivement with Pat Utomi is like comparing an unsuccessful medical student who has had the opportunity to study medicine for 8 years to a Jambite who wants to study medicine. @ Iyke-D [sup]Why all the anger? [/sup] The same anger that forced you to leave Nigeria. Don't concern yourself, but let me worry about my investment in Transcorp, its my money - but thank you for being so caring, I will get back to you in about 6 months, okay? When you will be wining and dining with Dangote.Good luck Promised land? Why do everybody keep talking about promised land? Which promised land are we talking about? As far as I know, such leader is yet to be born in Nigeria, the political institutions or culture is not there and the people are not ready. Lets worry about the basics first - like improved power supply, water, Lagos - Benin road, and schools before we talk about space and the likes. What OBJ was not able to do, so do you really think Yar'dua who never wanted to be a president can deliver? Charity begins at home. He has not delivered in his state. Maybe is Nigeria is synonymous with bad roads. Promised Land is for Jews not Nigerians lol. [sup]Finally, those wishing to have a Liberia or Congo in Nigeria, you truly have no idea what war does to a people or to a nation. I will prefer my Nigeria the way it is any day than to subject it to a Congolese or Liberian experiment. [/sup] Always alluding to the fear of breaking up, yet the nation has broken people’s lives and hopes. We cannot prosper beyond the status quo unless we fight for our dear country. Abiola had to fight for OBJ to emerge as the president. Had MKO not fought Abacha , he could have still been the president or Abubukar would have continued in office. No society has ever changed without any form of revolution. The fact that you have USA boldly written in your profile is because people fought for it , MLK and co fought for equality. It’s never the intention of the captor to live the captive free, but the captive should demand for his freedom. Zik , Awo and Co demanded independence from British colonialists, but this generation does not want the same independence from their fellow black men. By the way, how is that great new democrat of Nigeria, your friend Atiku doing, I haven't heard a word from him this past couple of days - maybe the Sultan has placed the phone call, you get my drift. . . I can never hold brief for Atiku. Just trying to say that corruption does not stop with Atiku. OBJ is corrupt as well. |
I don’t think that people don’t like to be called Africans. But have you really sought for the underlying meaning of African from that person who identifies you as an African. Do you feel flattered when someone praises for speaking good English? Not for me because it means that the person had a lower expectation of me. The reason why I say this is because when they tell you that you don’t look African, they simply mean that your appearance does not conform to the images they see on TV period. Why do people assume that Africa as a continent looks alike. Its because they have a narrow and myopic definition of Africa. Someone even said to me that “African women are tacky" |
Do you need a soothsayer to tell you that Yar'dua is going to be like his master OBJ. Have you checked his state on JAMB to see that only 3442 people out of 5,792,578 applied to sit for JAMB in 2006. Does he have any reason to give as to why he has not done anything in last 8 years with regard to mass illiteracy in his state? People say that he is less corrupt, when you have over 90 % of your population as illiterates, who can raise an eyebrow when it comes managing of state's resources? http://www.jambng.com/umeapp05.pdf EU commission assessed all the governors in Nigeria. I know for sure that Yar'dua did not make it in the top five. Embattled Chris Ngige of Anambra out performed him. We know Donald Duke as the brain behind Obudu Cattle Ranch and Tinapa. What does Yar'dua really have to show us? He has an ailment and yet has not built any hospital to cater for his medical need. I am tired of Nigerians always praising mediocre. Is not a shame that war torn Congo could hold an election that measured to a decent standard? Is not a shame that Irag could organize an election, likewise Afghanistan. Folks will say that America oversaw the whole process? Do we need America to organize polls for us? By the way, Palestine organized a free and fair election. Look at how low we have gone as a nation. |
Iyke-D I got no investment in moribund Transcorp as not to want a total make over for Nigerian polity. Its self delusional to think this selection will take us to the promised land. I thought Atiku was the ONLY problem in Nigeria. Even without Atiku in OBJ's government, the election was still a sham. |
[color=#006600]@ Teslim The problem you'll be facing is unfair competition with (Ibgo boys) so called chemists around the neighborhood selling fake/expired an relabelled drugs cheaper. [sup][/sup][/color] Always tribalizing issues? Igbo boys are fakers so are police and custom officers who collude with them. Igbos introduced corruption in Nigeria. By the way Dr. Dora Akunyili , NAFDAC Boss- is a Nigerian ok. We always see faults in other tribes except ours. Grow up and live beyond ethnic hartred. |
Nigeria - BBC- Big Blind Country- Ebami Eda. I did not think that Yar''dua and Andy Ubah would not be president select and governor select respectively because INEC spent of its time pursuing court battles against Ngige and Atiku . What happpened to 4 billion Naira awarded to RELTEL to digitally transmit results? Another farce. Mr Iwu is a paid agent of OBJ. I blame National Assembly for some of these problems. They confirmed Iwu's appointment. They enacted the electoral laws that INEC hinged on to almost deny opposition the chance to contest. They enacted the laws that will establish election tribunal without any time frame. A tribunal can sit for 3 year before giving out a verdict. Why cant election tribunals complete sitting before handing over- the same way it was done in Mexico. Finally, why dont we set a national election day so that every legal tussle has to be won 3 months before election. |
docokwy i think that your culled article would have recieved better attention from political nairalanders. Why dont post it on political section? |
thanks sista. a thoughtful piece of advice. ANY NAIJA MAN ASKING FOR MONEY FROM A WOMAN HE BARELY KNOWS HAS SOME POTENTIALS OF BEING A SCAM ARTIST. |
@ xtycod have you checked my posts lately? |
docokwy You have started again. Tribalizing this issue. That's why politicians are using brains like to cause problems in Nigeria. A Nigerian came first in Africa and you have translated it differently. |
yes at least he could not organise elections. kudos to OBJ |
" if you want to know how beautiful your wife will be when she gets old, visit your mother inlaw" 'A' is not a freak. You can teach her. B. is a freak. What are you going to do when B gets pregnant? When her moves are gone because of child bearing? What do you have to hold on? Can you trade a woman of virtue for five minutes of action? SEX? THIS SEX IS SO EXPENSIVE. Do you have sexual urge when your mind is not at peace.? A is peace of mind, B is open and close good luck |

rented boyfriend abi na pay as you go. Is he a movie star? You said one of his admirers. |
Freedom, either of the press or individual is never total, but carries with it some responsibilities - otherwise it will be ok to kill and destroy one another if it takes one's fancy. I have had cause to state in another thread in this forum my belief that Nigeria will never die. Our politicians are just doing what they know best - at the end, they will be backslapping one another, unmindful of the stress and aches they would have caused a lot of poor folks. Politics Nigeriana is unique and defies standard logic & ethos. And that's what makes it not only beautiful, but interestingly dangerous. If its OK for NTA to air politically funded programmes praising PDP for all the bad things it has done, why wouldnt the same standard apply to AIT? I wonder if Nigeria is not dead already. From AIT to opposition to Nairaland. AIT's airing of a politically sponsored programme in our already heated polity was wrong. No responsible govt would have allowed that programme to run it's course in the belief that it would later sanction the station - the sanctions would have been worthless after counting the costs for leaving the programme to finish. (The genesis of the Rwandan genocide still lingers in discerning minds). Was SSS created to police media houses? What's the job of NBC? Who heated the polity? PDP or AIT? |
babyosisi, abroad means a different thing to naija women. I was in a business centre and a girl came to make a call and was really proud that she wanted to call her bobo who lived in Dublin, Ireland, the call operator was telling her that he would charge her higher because she wanted to call a Kenyan number, the girl got soo mad that the call operator was telling her that her boyfriend lived in Kenya instead of Dublin. She was still arguing eventhough the national code number started with 25 something. The girl did not believe the call operator. I think its link a class statement among some Nigerian chics to show that they have arrived by "dating" a man who lives "abroad" |
have you tasted the joy of western union or moneygram? Maybe you need to tell us how joyful it is to spend free sweat money. naija loves easy money. |
good luck |
http://www.vanguardngr.com/articles/2002/headline/f119042007.html CAN) and the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria (SCIAN), joined in condemning the conduct of the election and accused INEC of declaring fake results in many states. Britain, in its reaction to the conduct of the elections, spoke of “significant shortcomings” and urged the Police to prevent a recurrence of the violence that claimed 50 lives. Information Minister, Mr Frank Nweke told Reuters: “This administration is committed to going through with the 2007 elections on schedule and handing over to a new government on May 29.” An 18-member coalition of the main opposition parties early yesterday called for the indefinite postponement of the election, rejected the results of the regional poll and demanded the replacement of the official electoral commission. About 50 people were killed in election-day violence last Saturday amid alleged widespread abuses across Africa’s most populous country and top oil producer. A group of local election observers said the results announced in 10 of 36 states did not reflect the will of the people and should be rejected. EU wants polls re-run in some states The European Union also criticised the conduct of the poll for state governors and said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should seriously consider re-running the election in several states. A statement issued after a long opposition meeting said: “Nigerians have lost confidence in the integrity of this government and its ability to conduct free, fair and credible elections.” The elections are expected to lead to the first handover of power from one civilian government to another since independence from Britain in 1960. “The coalition calls on Nigerians to protest in a non-violent manner the sham elections so far conducted,” the opposition statement said. AC asks Obasanjo to resign The Action Congress (AC) in a statement yesterday asked “President Olusegun Obasanjo and his cohorts, including the Inspector-General of Police, Sunday Ehindero and INEC Chairman, Maurice Iwu, to resign from office for plunging Nigeria into a huge crisis through a mindless manipulation of last Saturday’s state legislative and governorship polls. “From Kano to Kwara and Plateau to Bayelsa, there is no peace across the land because this government has shamelessly ensured that the peoples’ mandate is not respected. There will be no peace until the stolen mandate in every state has been returned. “Obasanjo should resign, the IG should go, Iwu should go, and a neutral body should organise fresh elections in the country. Anything short of that will be unacceptable to the good people of this country. “We also condemn, in the strongest terms, the crackdown on AC leaders in Ekiti and Osun states, where many of them have been declared wanted in the aftermath of the protests. This is the clearest indication yet that the police are grossly partisan and cannot be trusted to provide the conducive environment to organise free and fair polls. INEC is a national embarrassment —RELIGIOUS LEADERS The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria (SCIAN),under the platform of Inter Faith Forum, yesterday, accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of declaring fake results in many states in the last weekend’s gubernatorial and Houses of Assembly elections. The religious leaders described the exercise as a national tragedy capable of throwing the nation into turmoil. They, however, appealed to the opposition parties not to boycott this weekend’s Presidential election in a bid to avoid a constitutional crisis. The religious leaders maintained that boycotting the polls would not prevent the electoral commission from holding the election and declaring the results. Leaders of the two apex religious bodies while addressing newsmen in Abuja on the state of the nation, said the conduct of the election by INEC was a national embarrassment, as it gave away the commission as a tool in the hand of the ruling party. Indeed, the leaders argued that except in some few states, the election was a reflection of massive subversion of the people’s will through a collaboration of agents of states and gangs of party thugs. “This has clearly marred the credibility of the results declared by INEC,” they said. They called on all aggrieved politicians to proceed to the election petition tribunals with a view to getting the fake results declared reversed. However, the groups led by the Secretary-General of SCIAN, Alhaji Abdulateef Adegbite, and the General-Secretary of CAN, Samuel Salif, condemned INEC for deceiving Nigerians, saying the electoral body insulted the sensibility of Nigerians by promising that it would use electronic means to transmit the results when it actually had the intention of using the primitive method of handwritten transmission. Lamenting the conduct of the election, Alhaji Adegbite who read the position of the religious leaders said: “It is not clear to anybody the total number of polling stations we have. On the election day, during his midway assessment, Iwu talked of 120,000 booths which clearly was not the case. The invincibility of the so-called DDC exercise has collapsed in the face of the massive rigging that occurred with the evident stuffing of ballot boxes. In fact, there were no DDC machines. “The electronic transfer of result which INEC promised to beam to the populace was replaced with the primitive hoarding of results which came in trickles and by means that lacked any credibility and transparency whatsoever. “The delay in announcing results clearly showed that INEC was not the returning officers in the elections. In many states such as Kano, Bauchi, Edo, it took curfew and more than two days delay before the results were released,” he said. And speaking at an embassy reception on Tuesday night in Abuja, the British High Commissioner, Sir Richard Gozney, spoke of “sufficient shortcomings” in last weekend’s polls and urged the police to prevent a repeat on Saturday. AC considers withdrawal from polls The Action Congress (AC) was last night considering withdrawing from this weekend’s presidential and National Assembly elections, the results of which it alleged have already been written. At a press briefing in Abuja, the party’s national chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, said President Olusegun Obasanjo was deliberately orchestrating a crisis that would result in a state of emergency that would enable him unilaterally amend the Constitution to allow him perpetuate himself in office. Noting the party’s indecision on contesting this weekend’s presidential and National Assembly elections, he said: “No Nigerian trusts the President” and no political party beside the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) believed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could conduct a free and fair election. Chief Akande who was flanked by Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate and other party bigwigs at the press briefing dismissed last weekend’s state elections as the biggest political fraud in the history of the nation. Alleging the complicity of security agencies in the rigging of the elections, he said the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, had his stay in office extended to show others that “doing Obasanjo’s dirty job was rewarding.” Lamenting the choices facing the party, he said: “We are constrained to go into this presidential election because we know as a fact that the result of the presidential election is already being written. Today, definitely the National Executive Committee of the Action Congress will meet and take a decision. “Last Saturday’s election cannot by any standard be adjudged free, fair and credible. It was a sham, a fraud, and a farce beyond comparison in its level of ludicrousness and absurdity. It cannot stand. It must not stand. It is immoral and it must be condemned. All those responsible for such unconscionable rape on democracy should be ashamed of themselves. Democracy cannot thrive on fraud. Democracy will not survive in Nigeria if elections can be rigged with such impunity. Democracy will not survive in our country if elections are characterised by violence, theft of ballot boxes, stuffing of ballot papers, late or non arrival of election officials and materials, and falsification of election results by the so-called Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in favour of PDP candidates, with few token states conceded to the opposition out of fear of the wrath of the people. “What we are witnessing today in this country is a steady but dangerous move towards a one-party dictatorship for the interest of one man, General Olusegun Obasanjo, and a tiny clique around him. “The unprecedented crisis expected to greet the on-going electoral banditry has been designed to lead to a declaration of a state of emergency to enable General Obasanjo consolidate his dictatorship. “Having seen the AC as the key roadblock to his life Presidency ambition, a desperate Obasanjo has made sure that in 24 to 26 states where the AC is dominant, no election took place or that the results in those places are re-written by INEC to favour the PDP. “The intention is to make sure that the AC is wiped off the political map of Nigeria," he said. |
Why do people trust this Buhari of a guy? He will just be like OBJ. Opposing any idea that does not go down well with him. It will be very difficult to manage Buhari under a democratic dispensation. He refused to appear before before Oputa panel. Do you think that he can respect the law if he becomes president? |
