PoliticsRe: Now That Crude Is Gradually Becoming Worthless, What Next For Niger Delta? by adconline(m): 4:56pm On Dec 30, 2015
TheDevilIsALai:
These are all packaging firms.

Does BAT depend on Nigeria for tobacco leaves?

Does nestle depend on the unstable cocoa supply in Nigeria or is peak milk made from Fulani cows ?

All these firms you mentioned are all packaging firms setup to reduce tariffs paid for importation.

They are in Ogun because of two reason:

1. To service the booming and diverse Lagos market. Population and diversity in Lagos serves as a testing ground for the greater Nigerian market as tastes varry with culture and traditions. A Hausa man will prefer sweetened milk but a Yoruba man in fear of jedijedi will not touch that stuff. Also spirits are guzzled with reckless abandon in the south and are absolutely haram in the boko north. Lagos is thus , a good testing ground to see if your product can be widely distributed across Nigeria .

2. Proximity to Lagos ports.

There is nothing unique that Ogun and Oyo offer .

As I said earlier these are foriegn companies investing in packing and redistribution of their products.

In Aba you have home grown industries manned and operated by the local business men.

And finally to remind you what we were clanouring about here is the establishment of local industrial base .

In this regard Ogun which is populated by foreign firms operating repackaging and distribution outlets does not in any way compare to what we have in Aba which is a booming local industrial base.
SMEs in Aba generate less IGR than big companies in Ogun state. I repeat Ogun has bad managers but blessed with a cluster of heavy manufacturing in Naija.

TheDevilIsALai:
That is a repackaging hub.

An industrial hub is known for a specific output,

Detroit is the car industry's capital in the US.

Silicon Valley is know for software and computers.

California is known for shipping.

Louisiana for oil and gas.

Ogun is just a host for different consumer packaging firms.
So companies like Procter and Gamble, Nestle, Unilever, May and Baker, Fidsob, Nigerian Breweries, Towe Aluminium, Federatef Steel Mills, Nigeria German Chemical, Wempco steel mills, Dangote Cement Plant are packaging companieshuh

And what is Ogun and Oyo known for?

Which specific industry is Ogun known for?

Pls name at least one specific industry Ogun is know for.

Aba is known for their clothing and shoe manufacturing.

Warri is known as an oil city and it has several hundred small dockyards and fabrication work yards owned and operated by local populace serving the oil industry.

Pls tell me what Ogun industrial base is known for.
I am waiting.
Bro, Ogun is a manufacturing hub for companies like Unilever, Nestle.. But state managers have left the state with huge debt.. Right now, the state has a negative cash flow. It spends more than it generates!!

point of correction. We are not lazy. You say the ND is underdeveloped but is still 20 years ahead of the SE. And in The SW, only Lagos can compete with PH, Delta, or Akwa ibom. you should worry about your region first. Niger Delta will always prevail.
ND ahead of SE in terms of what?? Education, GDP per capita, poverty rate?? We are talking of post oil bro!!

PoliticsRe: 2016 Budget: Buhari To Spend More Than Jonathan On Presidential Villa - Vanguard by adconline(m): 3:45pm On Dec 30, 2015
This is the most profligate regime in the midst of a recession. GEJ budgeted N6.6bn for presidency in 2015 while GMB increased it by 600% to N39bn without taking into account that he's borrowing.
GMB increased the size of budget by 50% ie N2tn by borrowing and then restored capital budget to 30%?? It was around 37% OBJ time when National budget was around N2tn. So GMB is borrowing to fund recurrent expenditure-chop money. Out of every N100 spent in 2016, N70 will be chop money while N30 will be for capital problem.. It means that only N600m out of borrowed N2tn will be spent on capital project while N1.4tn will be chop money. Mind you the federal workforce hasn't increased. So this borrowing is to reward their cronies!!

Willful ignorance at its best. Nigeria can never be great with profligacy. Presidency budget in 2015 is N6.6bn while GMB increased it to N39bn in 2016..a 600% increase. So does it mean that his workforce and expenses increased 6 times?? He doesn't want to make any sacrifices!! Greatness is attained only by doing things right not by saying it!!

No apologies to you and your hero.
And yes there are more people in the presidency then in the national assembly yet the presidency got less than the national assembly.
Your hero neven implemented any of his budget more than 30% just watch and see how to implement budget.

Since you have refused to reason, you have no choice but to go to sleep with the reality that your President is Hausa and has chosen to grant interviews to BBC Hausa. Work hard for an Ibo President and an Ibo BBC.
No wonder most of his northern supporters will perpetually be kept in poverty and illiteracy.. You can keep ur superiority complex on those.. But when he wants to negotiations complex transactions like borrowing, oil deals, contract award, English is used . There is no BBC translation.. His followers are left out!!
PoliticsRe: 7 Reasons Why P.M.B Should Grant All Formal Interviews In Our Official Language by adconline(m): 9:10pm On Dec 29, 2015
fulanimafia:
Where did you see any suggestion that Hausa should be made the official language?

BBC Hausa is a Hausa station that broadcasts in Hausa.

Were you expecting the President to speak in English?
Do you realize if it was a Yoruba/Ijaw speaking President, the interview would still have been translated to Hausa?
Do you not realize it is the need for balance that made the President conduct an English version of the same interview?

This is a either a petty case of covetousness, hatred, jealousy or inferiority complex; otherwise there are no grounds for dissatisfaction.
He's the president of Naija not president of Hausa. It's like opening a govt meeting with Quran prayer instead of National anthem. It's not his job to grant interview in Hausa when he's discussing national budget for 170m most of whom don't speak Hausa.

Go and cure your inferiority complex.

If you're really pained, go and open BBC Ibo.

While you're at it, establish VOA Ibo so that you can ensure the North has no advantage over you.
Inferiority is when u don't want to compete with official national language. You want Jamb score to be lowered for ur kids to be given admission.. Now you want Hausa to made official language when English is official language of business and governance??

The amounts of funds generated and looted in Nigeria Customs and Nigeria Ports Authority are better imagined.

Maybe this oil price fall is a blessing in disguise for Nigeria. We have to diversify our national revenue base, whether we like it or not.

Another profligate budget... 30% capital budget is peanut compared to 2013 when it was about 31%; it was 24% in 2014 ; 2015 is about 18% -- all these when the national budget was around N4tn. Now, GMB is increasing the national budget by 50%, the only way to stimulate Naija economy is by increasing capital budget 60-70%.. It's a better idea to borrow close to N2tn to finance capital budget to spur economic growth instead of spending 70% of borrowed funds on paying political appointees . For every N100 Naija spends in 2016, N70 is chop money for politicians and workers while N30 is for building roads, schools, hospitals etc.. We are toast!!

You are being too critical, son. Kemi may not have the same pedigree as NOI, but she cannot be discounted before she even begins the job. She will be working with an Economic Team that will include Udo Udoma (Budget & Planning), Emanalah (Trade & Investments), etc. These are really experienced folks.

On borrowing locally - most bond buyers are usually institutional investors like Pension Funds, Banks, Investment houses, etc. With the CBN's expansive monetary policy of reducing CRR & MPR, then some of the extra liquidity will find its way to bond purchases.

Nobody can predict for sure what oil price will be tomorrow. The MOF and her team can only estimate what the average price will be over the next 1 year. They could be right, they could be wrong. Even the best analysts make wrong calls. NOI, last year, presented a budget with oil price estimated at $73 and she argued that she used the 5 & 10 yr weighted moving average to arrive at her estimate. In the end, she was dead wrong.

Most of the funds expected from Customs & Excise Duties are going to be from efficiency in management & collections.

Give Kemi & APC a break. The party inherited a battered economy from the PDP. NOI & PDP should have utilized the opportunity of high oil prices to position and diversify the economy, but alas, they squandered away everything. And you have the effrontery to abuse a man who is trying to clean up the mess with very little oil revenue.
U meant to say that he's being too honest and real??
PoliticsRe: FG Will Borrow Internationally And Locally To Finance 2016 Budget – Kemi Adeosun by adconline(m):
They lied that the budget was going to be financed by blocking leakages and loopholes.. Now it has dawned on them that there are no magic wands to get that done.. They shouted additional revenue , but have refused to show new revenue sources.. These partisan brigands are on Utopian crack!! N2tn added to the 2016 budget is 50% and there is no sane govt that increases its budget by borrowing to fund recurrent expenditure..
BTW, borrowing locally and internationally is going to cause the Naira to further depreciate. Intl lenders must insist on NO curenncy control and removal of subsidies.. Hard times are upon us!!

Mind you GEJ/PDP did this so as to render most APC useless and so they will not be able to pay salaries, meet the people demand, and also not to have money to campaign so the masses will go against them and vote in PDP but God pass them...
Another APC brigand and willful ignorance. FG doesn't have the power to punish APC state by slashing their allocation. Governors have the right to sue if they don't get belongs to them.. Tinubu sued OBJ and won!! How come no Gov sued?? How come states like Lagos, Akwaibom and Anambra paid their workers?? Point is, most governors became profligate and went on spending spree when income was shrinking... What an arrogant display of willful idiocy to blame FG for govs refusal to pay their workers.
