gists: She has been the minister of finance TWICE!! Where has she led us to? For me I believe this gov should be given a fair chance to work. I don't even remember the last time we had a budget that didn't rely heavily on oil. Let alone the last time we have a budget that focus more on capital project. Even if the price of oil goes down to $20/barrel, it still won't affect the financing of the budget that much (provided we are able to maintain a reasonable amount of sales). So when people begin to criticize without giving any peculiar reason and worst still without any solution, it shows they are just being bitter over GEJ's loss Budget is not relying on oil is an illusion that has been sold to gullible followers like u. It's going to rely on borrowing which is later going to be serviced and repaid with oil proceeds... |

Budget is not MoF's sole responsibility, we have inputs from different sources/MDAs, we have political policies been interpreted through budget. Remember we are just running a Zero Based Budget for the first time, a policy prescribed even before she became the honorable minister. We have human factors too We have imported issues which we are still battling with in our nation so we have to take every point at a time.

Even if the oil benchmark price bounces back, that region will be to suffer for it because already the government of the day would have diversified her economy and little or no attention will be paid to oil. If Mr. Tompolo has nothing to hide he should do the honourable thing by appearing in court or he faces the consequence of disobedience to the law of the state. He should be reminded that if he has a war ship, the military has intelligence and 25 mines protection war vehicles have just been delivered to the Nigerian Army by the United States of America. cityAdventures: lol very funny...the infatuation of kenyan women for Naija guys is legendary.
So it is with women of other African countries- Zim's, Southy's, Tanzanians etc
You' ll even think the naija guys these girls are dying for are ttush right? correct guys, right? So wrong.. those naija guys they die for are the rejects of Nigeria. those who found life in Naija too tough they ran away to survive. some moved into legitimate businesses, got money, now live large and blow these women off their feet. if they were in Naija, even with their money, they will still be operating at their low level, off the social radars of lagos, Abuja, PH or any city
most of the naija guys these kenyan women or african girls die for are the ones engaged in petty trade in those countries- they see money everyday as they sell spare parts, building materials, run CD shops, sell household wares etc etc. In Nigeria, they are what we call traders, OMATA and their level is always their chere kambia sort of girls.
several of these naija african big boys were they to still be in Nigeria would be found in corner shops at Alaba, Suru, Trade fair, Okota Festac axis, Marababa Builders market, Dei Dei etc- only seen with their local girls at beer parlors, never heard.
BUt in Nairobi, Dar es Salam, even Joburg, they are Royalty, the new kings and the girls cant have enough of them. So if these kenyan girls were to meet actual cream and middle class crop of Naija boys full of swag nko? Those banker boys, the oil boys, offshore boys, the telecom boys, these moneyed aides of politicians, what will they now do? or the sort who give baby mamas 300k per month for upkeep?
These Kenyan girls are even lucky they meet these omata type naija boys making money legit ones in their country.Because they are not used to their men spending money on them, or being romantic, when they meet the naija ones who make money from drugs, yahoo and vice, they simply go gaga becos of what they benefit and the love they get.
One thing that is consistent with all naija men anywhere is their ego-which makes them spend lavishly on their women once they have the means. no other tribe of men comes close, africa wise.
so make we hear word- so long as they keep loving our OMATA boys and drug boys, they shd just enjoy the perks while it lasts. In your warped mind, bankers, oil guys and offshore guys are the cream of Naija society?? Even in this moment when oil is cheaper than cooking oil? Keep talking trash about so called Omata boys while they are smiling home to the banks.. Since they have money, chics would always bring honey and love.. |

There are prisoners being detained indefinitely, who bc of "enhanced interrogation" will likely never see inside a courtroom bc evidence will be thrown out due to the method of extraction. There are also those who we've determined are non combatants who also have yet to receive court dates or freedom. Perhaps I'm mistaken No American citizen is held in GITMO. And US govt hasn't defied US court order to release detainees. Naija suspects aren't classied as terrorists.. They aren't charged terrorists. In US, they are classified as enemy combatants. |

TheDevilIsALai: To remind you what we are discussing here: we are discussing the promotion of local industries and NOT foroegn multi national repackaging firms operating in what is at best a free trade zone .
We are looking at what drives the local manufacturers in Aba and why we don't see that anywhere else.
If you agree that Nigeria must diversify it's economy and move towards less dependence on imports we ought to encourage SMEs as they are the ones that are most likely to succeed and grow in the long run.
What Oyo and Ogun get from their "free trade zones" is nothing but excersice duties .
Try and understand my drift. I am not Ibo but Delta and I don't hate Yorubas that much just the YAMS. Sir, Apple is the most capitalized company in the world, but manufactures its product in China and Hong Kong.. These companies in Ogun contribute in terms of GDP, labor, IGR and industrial output to the state and nay Naija. Aba is trying but these are smal scale production.. In Onitsha, SAB Miller built its factory at $ 100m while PG built a plant in Ogun at $300m. So it would take about 300 rich biz folks to build such in Aba, assuming $1m can build an SME. |
