For me I believe this gov should be given a fair chance to work. I don't even remember the last time we had a budget that didn't rely heavily on oil. Let alone the last time we have a budget that focus more on capital project. Even if the price of oil goes down to $20/barrel, it still won't affect the financing of the budget that much (provided we are able to maintain a reasonable amount of sales).
So when people begin to criticize without giving any peculiar reason and worst still without any solution, it shows they are just being bitter over GEJ's loss

Budget is not relying on oil is an illusion that has been sold to gullible followers like u. It's going to rely on borrowing which is later going to be serviced and repaid with oil proceeds...

See, we have Minister of Budget a department under MoF but now separated from Ministry of Finance, we have coordinating person for economy.

Budget is not MoF's sole responsibility, we have inputs from different sources/MDAs, we have political policies been interpreted through budget. Remember we are just running a Zero Based Budget for the first time, a policy prescribed even before she became the honorable minister. We have human factors too
We have imported issues which we are still battling with in our nation so we have to take every point at a time.

Hers is to formulate fiscal policies of which she is still gearing on at.

. Someone needs to tell them that based on the world oil benchmark price at the moment, Nigerian government no longer can depend on oil as it's clearly shown in 2016 budget. Even if the oil benchmark price bounces back, that region will be to suffer for it because already the government of the day would have diversified her economy and little or no attention will be paid to oil. If Mr. Tompolo has nothing to hide he should do the honourable thing by appearing in court or he faces the consequence of disobedience to the law of the state. Dasuki have different cases going on at different court. So, all the courts must grant him bail, & he must be able to fulfill the bail conditions from all the court before he can finally be released.
If FCT high Court granted him bail, he will still need to be granted bail by federal high Court before he can finally be released. Because the charges are different!!!
His lawyers knows, therefore you don't need to cry more than the believed!

No American citizen is held in GITMO. And US govt hasn't defied US court order to release detainees. Naija suspects aren't classied as terrorists.. They aren't charged terrorists. In US, they are classified as enemy combatants.

Nigeria truly needs a firm leader like Buhari to shape up the system. But one aspect I would never support is how he has been contemptuous of the judiciary. No matter how powerful he thinks he is as president, if he continues to deride judicial decisions, the same judiciary could decide to frustrate his anti-corruption fight, ridicule charges brought to court as with the case of Kanu and ultimately cripple the justice system.

To remind you what we are discussing here: we are discussing the promotion of local industries and NOT foroegn multi national repackaging firms operating in what is at best a free trade zone .

We are looking at what drives the local manufacturers in Aba and why we don't see that anywhere else.

If you agree that Nigeria must diversify it's economy and move towards less dependence on imports we ought to encourage SMEs as they are the ones that are most likely to succeed and grow in the long run.

Sir, Apple is the most capitalized company in the world, but manufactures its product in China and Hong Kong.. These companies in Ogun contribute in terms of GDP, labor, IGR and industrial output to the state and nay Naija. Aba is trying but these are smal scale production.. In Onitsha, SAB Miller built its factory at $ 100m while PG built a plant in Ogun at $300m. So it would take about 300 rich biz folks to build such in Aba, assuming $1m can build an SME.

Hate how this debate turned to a tribal tirade.. This should be about post oil outlook and economic viability of Naija states..
