Odinwa: Thanks for the reply, my cgpa of 3.37 is on the scale of 5 and not 4.
I want to apply for food science, I studied biochemistry here in Nigeria. If you can, follow this link http://www.wes.org/students/igpacalc.asp and imput your undergraduate grades. You will get the Canadian Equivalent of your CGPA which is usually on a scale of 4. You can also check MSVU, they offer a masters program in food nutrition, with a good SOP and Recommendation Letters and a 3/4 CGPA, you should get your admission. |

Odinwa: Please gurus in the house, can anyone help me out on the above situation? Thanks Sorry about the refusal but which one is controversial grounds? Judging from recent observations, It is better to go for Masters than the PGC/PGD. You should be able to get a master's admission with a cgpa of 3.37 cos i believe it should be more than a 3.0/4 which is required in most schools. What program are you going for? |

OpeLovely: PLEASE HELP OOOO Hi, i see that you are going to MSVU. Since you are being sponsored I don't think it is necessary to attach any of your personal financial documents if it isn't convincing or clear enough. A recommendation letter from your organization is a plus. Should probably put emphasis on your good performance and how you will be better with the masters degree you are going for. |

Ibroh24: Hello everyone! Am a newbie in nairaland and i wish to know more about canada visa for study.
i have met an agent before and he told me that my age for applying study visa is not applicable (dec. 1989)
please, is there any alternative as i heard that i can process the visa without an agent.
NairaLanders! please i need your help. You can apply for a Visa without an Agent. Most people on this platform who have gotten their visas applied themselves. Age is not really a determining factor in getting a Visa, well, except you are going for an undergraduate degree at that age which means you have loads of explaining to do as to what you have been doing all these while. Anyways, I believe if you can dedicate time and read this thread from let's say part 10, you will get more information which will help you. |

shollayma247: That's what am saying.. .where will I apply to the school and the form I will fill. Please help me. You should do some initial research. Nobody will tell you schools to apply to. Are you going for postgraduate or undergraduate study? What course did you study? When did you finish school? What is your proposed course. Use all this information and imput it into google, i am sure you will get schools and programs you can apply to. |

MichaelFinn: Well it could be a debate lol! But then, it helps people to understand that going to College out here is not a bad option. I believe it has to do with the way you package your application. I don't think anyone is saying going to college is a bad option. Getting a study visa with a college admission is what they are concerned about. We have seen it from past experiences that it is quite difficult and ones application needs to have that extra oomph before it gets approved. |

CanadianNurse: haven't you thought about people that go there and runaway... The Don't go to the school they applied for... They enter Street and start committing fraud and other crimes to survive in the name of hustle? That is what they are trying to curb! They want to make sure you are a genuine student This is so true. I once spoke to a friend in canada who knew someone in the embassy and he stated that he was told PGCs and diplomas mostly get delayed because statistics showed that a high percentage of them end up dropping out of their program or deferring to work thereby not resuming when they are supposed to. I think we should do better. Everybody wants to go Canada but we should try to sort out our funds for at least the first year before leaving. If we have better reputation and statistics, Canada won't be scared to give us Visa. |

willyboss: Please house I need advice on this: My application was refused on PURPOSE OF VISIT because the vo wasn't "convinced" I would leave Canada on completion of my programme. In my application I included my assets and that members of my family are in Nigeria. I am not married. my purposed course of study is in line with my undergraduate degree. how do I CONVINCE the vo that I would leave? I thought I had that covered already.
UG: Mechanical Engineering(2011) Intended course of study: Mechanical Engineering (M.Eng) Work Experience: worked as a piping draughtsman/designer for about ten months but currently in partnership with a friend in his business(I provided evidence of this in my application) Sorry about the delay. If you finished from uni in 2011 which is about 6 years ago and you have 10 months working experience in your field, i am guessing you have been doing this business with your friend for almost 4 years. I think the VO believes that you should be interested in furthering your studies to improve your business and not your undergraduate course. This is just my thoughts. I don't really know so much. |

VeecThorr: The international student application deadline according to their website is June 23rd 2017. I applied nearly two months ago due to some constraints, I was only able to pay the application fee last week. And they never sent an email saying it was too late. Hence what i said in my last reply, your application isn't confirmed or considered until you pay your application fee. Which means you applied last week. You should email the school and confirm they have gotten all the documents you need to submit. |

VeecThorr: Fall. I paid the application fee last week btw. It is kind of too late to apply for fall term. But you can still email the admissions department of the school to see if they are still admitting students. If they aren't, you should be waiting for Winter 2018 term - if your program has a winter start date. |

VeecThorr: Does anyone know how long it takes to get a response from MSVU, Nova Scotia? I applied since over a month ago but only just paid the application fee last week. Your application isn't considered until you have paid your application fee. What course did you apply for and what session? Fall or Winter? |

westgermany: Hello great people ,please I need help the only person that I believe would stand as sponsor for me is actin up .these is the third time am applying into a school in Canada and these time around I was given admission my problem now is getting documents to complete my visa processed and my program starts by September....pls I need help You have to look for another sponsor that has good financial strength and will be ready to give you sufficient documents for your application. I don't think there is anyone on this forum that can act as your sponsor. Also, try to avoid agents that claim they can help you and they will provide statement of account for you. Since your school resumes in September, you should try to get a new sponsor before the end of May because 'time is going'. |

guys HELP!!! traveled to south Africa once and to UAE five times.
@justwise @michV @osemigho gurus! help a sister out. Sorry about the refusal. The inconsistency in your undergraduate degree, work experience and proposed program of study is probably why your visa was refused. Hence the purpose of visit reason. I think you should go for a program related to your undergraduate degree or work experience |

yemdogg: THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR BEFORE SUBMITTING A STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT.
1. BEWARE OF THE OPENING AND CLOSING BALANCES-
2. CHECK HOW THE ACCOUNT IS BEING RUN-
3. SPONSOR’S INCOME STATUS-
4. UNAUTHENTIC STATEMENTS-
I HAD TO PUT UP THIS PIECE COS OF THE RECENT GCMS NOTES I SAW. I THINK THIS INSUFFICIENT FUNDS GROUND FOR REFUSAL IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE AVOIDED IF WE ALL THREAD CAREFULLY. Very educative and well written. Thank you. |

Samo16: Masters of applied human nutrition. Are you planning for msvu as well. Oh yes. Because the tuition is paid per course credit, you won't be able to divide it into two years. So it's best to just show funds for the entire program. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Adefolakemi: 11:56pm On Apr 19, 2017 |
Samo16: For my program it isn't written. The max number of years to complete is 5 years however. I was advised to complete within 2 years by the school as an international student full time. What's your take still? What program are you going for in MSVU? Your tuition is 16,310. So you should fill that in |
