The way things are going right now in our country, we (The Structural Engineers) are needed more than ever.

Like how I explain our Job to people who ask; "thinking about the Human Anatomy.., see the structural engineer as the one in charge of the skeletal system and designing the various organs of the body, the Architect as the one in charge of aesthetics and the civil engineer as the one in charge of building the whole body!"

That little analogy up there shows we're the boss! (Sorry Civil guys )
So..can I get all the structural engineering students on this forum to get in here?

Until the Quaran is translated into indigenous language for all to be able to read, few people would continue to deceive the gullible ones with one useless Arabic. They take the Arabic as something powerful and unadulterated. wasn't the Bible originally written in Greek/Jew and yet doesnt loose its purpose. At least if it can be written in their indigenous languages,they can read and see for themselves how peaceful or otherwise their religion is...

The Prophet (S.A.W) , passed away on Monday in the month of Rabee’ Al-Awwal, at forenoon. The Companions may Allaah be pleased with them prepared his funeral on Tuesday and placed him on the bed in his room; thereafter, people went in groups to perform funeral prayer upon him. The Prophet (S.A.W) , was buried that NIGHT, i.e. before the morning of Wednesday. The details are mentioned in the books of Hadeeth (narrations) and Seerah (the biographies of the Prophet ).


The delay of his burial was for many reasons. Some of them are: no one led the funeral prayer, so people entered in his room in small groups to perform the funeral prayer. They had different opinions before reaching a point of consensus concerning many matters, for instance the manner in which the Prophet , should be washed, the place he should be buried in and the leadership of the Ummah (Muslim nation) after his death, etc.

The death of the Prophet (S.A.W) , was a catastrophic event for the Muslims; they did not immediately recover their senses. The Prophet (S.A.W) , was the most beloved person to them, and this made it nearly impossible for them to bury him. Faatimah may Allaah be pleased with her said to Anas may Allaah be pleased with him “Were you able to put soil on the body of the Prophet , and bear that?”

For every verse of the Quran that is touted as "violent" and "intolerant", the answer generally lies in the preceding or the succeeding verses themselves.

The verse that you have posted is from Surah Anfal Ch. 8 verse 39. It is absolutely true and unadulterated. But didn't you notice that the verse begins with an And? Doesn't it indicate that there must be something before the verse that set the context of the verse?
Let me quote the preceding verse i.e. 8:38

Say to those who have disbelieved that if they cease hostilities, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. But if they return to hostility - then the precedent of the former rebellious peoples has already taken place.

Clear enough?
Verse 8:39 is in the context of those non-Muslims who were hostile to the Muslims back then. Islam is not just a spiritual entity but also a political entity. With the advent of Islam and the Muslim empire most non-Muslim tribes and kingdoms around it began attacking and waging a war against it. All seemingly "violent" verses refer to those who were at war with Muslims/Islam. As for general non-Muslims, the Quran clearly states that they must be treated with kindness and justice. Have a look at this verse:

Surah Mumtahana 60:8-9
Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

I don't like tristan much,neither do I like Lucien but when I saw his face in the scene with elijah at the end,i saw fear in his eyes. it's interesting that both elijah and tristan made each other(tristan comes from a family that has to show good manners and class and that was taught to elijah while elijah taught him how to be a vamp).
im intrigued to see who's telling the truth and who isn't but one thing is clear,i don't trust lucien and tristan. on one hand,if klaus turned aurora then tristan can't kill klaus cuz that ll mean aurora ll die. on the other hand,lucien said if he kills elijah,bekah and klaus will hunt him down. What I do know is they recruit university graduates with a minimum of 2.1 in any discipline even if it's Yoruba. Yes, I know that for a fact. You just have to pass their aptitude test and some other 'practical test' as well and they'll handle the rest.
But of course, you must have interest in one of their specialties.. For a civil engineer, maybe their IT section will interest you.. It depends on you as majorly.
