Fuel in Benin is N489 right now.

And right now, fuel in Nigeria is N488-540 per liter.

At the end of the day, smugglers cannot make a profit at all. Removing subsidy has made it difficult for anyone to smuggle fuel across the border.

And people ask me why I say subsidy must go...well here is one good reason.

If fuel was still N195, and I was living on the border, I can buy fuel into two 50l jerrycans, at N19500, cross the broder and sell it at dobule the price, and earn a cool N40000. Note that it was not only big cabals involved in the smuggling...it was also small poor boys and gals too.

Your calculation is wrong ,the seller of two fifty litres filled with petrol at a cost of 195 naira per litre and selling at 489 naira per litre cannot make 40 000 naira profit. Check and use your calculator.

The cashless policy is good because:

The changing of our currency is a good idea BUT at this time, it will bring more devaluation of Naira.This is because kidnappers and big time politicians will bring out a large sum of naira to be exchanged for foreign currency..

They can exchange their money no matter how high the exchange rate because their money was got free through ransome or corruption.

It is the poor masses that will suffer because goods and services will be very expensive . Also naira to dollar may exceed 1,000 naira very soon.
This problem coupled with removal of fuel subsidy late next year will create more problems for successive govt., making it to borrow more money leading to more debt and suffering for the lower class citizens.
