I googled this woman and besides her PhD thesis which has been cited once, there seems to be nothing of note she has published. Her UI's bio page is also blank and there is a dearth of information about her, her studies and accomplishments, if any. I searched the SIVB website and her name is just not turning up. So, what's the significance of this award?

You tried hard to sound like an intellectual but you are obviously a fake. Where did you search her and did not find anything about her? You suppose academic work are published on the general google.com, exclusively?

Esther graduated with a PhD from Oregon State University about 2011 or 2012. She started working at UI a few years later. So give and take she has worked at UI for about 4-6 years.

In total, since after graduation she has published tens of papers and most were from her research at UI. She has been cited by other scientists at least 258 times. Please see first photo below.

If you want to search for people's research work, google is just only one of the many search sites you can do so by. If you go to Researchgate (you may need to have a login and password), you will find at least 27 publications from Esther and her colleagues (see number on first print screen photo below). She could also have additional publications hosted on PubMed (NCBI) or Web of Science. Also google scholar is an option.

Below are some of Esther's research from Researchgate. Esther may not be a world class scientist, but by Nigeria's standard she is of national class, better than 95% of Nigerian scientists of her age (graduation date) and qualification working in Nigeria under your shithole conditions.

Cassava or Garri which one?

UK Cannot export cassava because they do not produce it. They can only 'export' garri as a re-export, after it has been re-processed (which means they imported cassava for value addition)

The first Black Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan was an Igbo man named Professor Kenneth Dike.
•The first Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos was an Igbo man named Professor Eni Njoku.
•The first Nigerian Rector of the then Yaba College of Technology was also an Igbo man
The first Nigerian Professor of Mathematics was an Igbo man named Professor Chike Obi – the man who solved Fermat’s Last Theorem. He was followed by another Igbo man named Professor James Ezeilo, Professor of Differential Calculus and the founder of the Ezeilo Constant.

What about the first Nigerian Professor of Medicine – Professor Kodilinye – he was appointed a Professor of Medicine at the University of London in 1952. He later became the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka after the war.
What about Astronomy – again another Igbo man was the first Professor of Astronomy – please, look up Professor Ntukoju – he was the first to earn a double Ph.D in Astronomy and Mathematics.
Let’s go to the Social Sciences – Demography and statistical research into population studies – again another Igbo man – Professor Okonjo who set up the first Centre for Population Research in Ibadan in the early ’60s. A double Ph.D in Mathematics and Economics.
Philosophy – Professor G D Okafor, who became a Professor of Philosophy at the Amherst College USA in 1953.
Economics – Dr. Pius Okigbo who became a visiting scholar and Professor of Economics at the University of London in 1954. He is also the first Nigerian Ph.D in Economics.
Theology and theological research – Professor Njoku who became the first Nigerian to earn a Ph.D in Theology from Queens University Belfast in Ireland. He was appointed a Professor of Theology at the University College Zambia in 1952.

Dr Esther Eyiuche Uchendu of the Department of Agronomy, University of Ibadan, has won the 2018 Young Scientist Award by the Society for In Vitro Biology (SIVB), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

A statement from the Vice Chancellor (VC), University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Idowu Olayinka, reveals that the letter of award by the SIVB President, dated 2nd March 2018, says the award is in recognition of her contributions and achievements in the In Vitro sciences. As a scientist her ‘involvement and dedication within the Society has impacted the careers of many students, young scientists and colleagues’.


Says the VC University of Ibadan, Prof Idowu Olayinka. “We are delighted that Dr Uchendu is on our Faculty. I am sure you will join me in congratulating her while wishing her further successes in her career,” Prof Olayinka stated.
