Hi guys,
Please if you've finished your MSc course-work and project before the convocation date, can you request for your transcript and Statement of Result? Or do you have to wait till convocation/graduation before it can be issued?

Hey guys, i know i was supposed to post a new balance this week, but holidays no be small thing o. You have to get gifts for family, friends and so on. So i have to take a break from saving for the next 2 weeks. However, my wife decided to give me 2 of her paychecks to make it up in January, so we are still on track. I decided not to travel to the US again, but instead to spend my holidays in Canada. Return ticket to New york is like $700 and we are 2. Other interesting cities in US was just about the same price. It will cost over $2500 just to spend the holiday in US. Myself and wifey decided to plan a holiday for early next year. Infact i got a return ticket to Singapore for $700, same price for tickets to Seoul. Its crazy how fares are so expensive this period, well its expected.
I will be doing a road trip to Calgary this holiday and i will document with some pictures and put them on here. By the way, Happy holidays to everyone.
Wow...that's awesome ...happy holiday too

You said something about running an open course before MSC,what do u mean by that plshuh

You also suggested considering skuls like uni Manitoba or Saskatchewan for the MSc... (For a 2:2 grade grad)...are finance /banking jobs easy to get there being smaller Town's

Lol, paying domestic tuition doesn’t correlate with CGPA in any way though. Don’t think they factor in residency status when they make the general rules but I suppose if there are candidates on the same level, they might then consider citizens/P.R. first. Just opining smiley
Lolzz..yes...I meant to type *and* not *cos*...

Sure, cgpa issue is completely different from tuition.

If you dont mind going to smaller provinces to study, i think University of Saskachewan and Memorial university of newfounland can easily admit. Also it may be wise to take some open courses from universities in Canada which can boost your GPA, then you can go ahead and apply to better universities.
What do u mean open courses please .....is it all those pre-masters courses..... How about if one does PGD in say Seneca or Fanshawe and then proceed for MSC with the PGD certificate....

Also,I feel Saskatchewan isn't viable for someone with a finance banking background

quick question

Having known that Canada rarely admits 2:2 grads for msc/MBA from the student visa thread n from those university's admission requirements page....

After Landing in Canny as a PR,can they consider taking a 2:2 grad of say 3.3cgpa for MSC/mba......cos I learnt the tuition will be paid as domestic student not international std...

The answer to that question is a big yes. I only have a first degree from Nigeria. I came to Canada with 8yrs oil industry experience. I wanted to change career and also wanted to stay in Ontario. I got a decent job in 3 months with one of the big 5 banks in a staff role with full benefits and paid vacation. The pay is not the best, but hey, it pays all the bills, affords me extra money and. Most importantly it gives me a platform to develop my self and plot/execute the next phase of my career change.
What the OP means is that you can have your degree on your resume without having the school, that way no one will discriminate based on where you got your education. If you qualify for the job, you have a good chance of getting shortlisted for an interview. If you impress at the interview, it's unlikely that they would deny you a position based on where you got your degree. Just have it in mind that whatever the case, it makes a lot of sense to get a canadian education as soon as you can. Anything from a graduate certificate, diploma to a masters will improve your earnings here.
Wow,happy for u.. I have a friend in microfinance bank 2 yrs experience just bsc finance,he is writing his ielts to come to canny soon..but I told him that he shld do msc once he gets to canny as thats my plan too so as to earn better pay based on what av learnt on nairaland..but he said he wants to do PGD.... What will u advice please,,he wanna continue banking too..

Pls for the banking job:what were the recruitment processes...n what role if you don't mind sir

A 27 year is still young, cos i am older than that but i have stated a master's degree. I was once shortlisted for a job that pays $90 an hour, but i didnt get it because i had no masters degree and the recruitment team let me know. That was why i immediately enrolled for a masters degree. Having a kid is no problem at all because the government will even help you out until you get a job. Its an organized society here. This is the way Canada society works, or i think so. If you possess a lot of degrees from outside the country, thay may not matter until you get even one degree from Canada. It can be a diploma, BSc PGD or masters degree, but just get something from here and you are good to go
Wow,thanks a lot bro

He should take the Zenith job. its 101k, plus other little benefits. if he is smart, he will immediately start ICAN, ACCA or CFA, once certified, its automatic conversion from Graduate assistant to executive trainee and from there he is made for life. If the Unity job was a full staff role, id have adviced that he should take the Unity, but sadly its contract so its not worth it.
Thanks a lot bro...do u know unity bank entry level salary
