It's not that difficult if you're open-minded. The first thing you want to do is get a Social Security Number... you can't do very much without it. While doing that, start searching for a job. Your job is usually one of the places to meet people and make friends... the church is also a good place too. Best advice, don't attend a Nigerian church, branch out, meet other Americans. If you're in a fairly big city, look for rec leagues, there's probably one around you for soccer. You might even meet some Nigerians there! Or try meetup.com. They have a ton of groups/activities there that you can join. Try to get a job that comes with benefits; medical insurance is #1. You don't want to have to use the hospital or urgent care with no insurance. Fastest way to get yourself into a debt hole in the US. If your job does not offer health insurance, go online and find an ObamaCare plan. You may end up finding one very cheap that covers the basics you need.

If you land yourself a good job, you should be able to get your own apartment within 6 months. Rule of thumb:

1. Have your host help you with a bank account where you can get your paycheck by direct deposit (always better as businesses charge you a small amount to cash your check for you).
2. Get a credit card (your bank is always a good place to start). The credit limit is likely to be small ($500/$1500) but that doesn't matter. What you really need it for is to build credit.
3. Put most of your purchases on the card, but PAY IT OFF every month BEFORE the due date - if not you get charged a late fee. Get creditkarma.com. Easy and free website to monitor your credit history. It's cool watching your credit score grow and it helps you figure out what you need to do to make it grow or ruin it.
4. When you need to get an apartment, make sure rent is no more than 30% of your paycheck. As a newbie, try to get an apartment that comes with all utilities included in the rent. Easier for you and you never have to worry about missing a gas or electric bill.
5. Get a phone plan - start small, you don't need all they try to sell you. One day, you'll be stable enough to afford more.
6. If you're in a big city with good public transport, use it. Take about a year before getting a car. My brother lives in NYC and sold his car. It cost more to park it than was worth it. The subway there can get you anywhere within the city. For everything else, you've got uber.
7. Cook your own food lol... super easy to spend a lot of money eating out.
8. Be nice to people, say hello, smile. Enjoy America.

...and oh, even if you don't get a driver's license early enough, get a state ID, it works the same as a driver's license except you can't drive with it.

The grades are good. you can definitely get scholarship for another masters. in this case your SOP has to be used to properly sell yourself.

A PhD in that field of yours is viable, but has its limitations. What was your masters grade? Did you work on a thesis?. Sometimes your most recent grades are what schools use to judge and grade your mental uprightness. At this point, you should be taking any probable exam that can embellish your profile.

Please for someone that has 3.3/5.0 BSc and 4.3/5.0 Msc... Accounting...can such person still apply for MSc Finance with scholarship/funding.....or it has to be PhD....

If one's certificate/transcript will be ready by January.. is it okay to pay for IQAS now pending till when one will send the cert and transcript to them. Considering the fact that making IQAS payment successfully on their website could sometimes take up to a month ??

I don't quite understand what you mean by education allowance though but Stanbic pays bursary.

If you get an admission, you can engage your Human Capital Business Partner (HCBP), submit some required documents and Stanbic will pay 80% of the fees until you are done with your program. This admission is ANY school of your choice.

Yes I know of few friends of mine. Although it depends on school and course. You may need to take your time to read up on the 5 recognised ECA bodies and also go an extra mile in reaching out to them for clarity before beginning the evaluation process.

Online advertised prices are $20k to $50k different from what the final end price will be.
Some builders sell the lots separately (Hidden Oak - $45k to $80k for a lot )
The communities we checked have lot premiums between $5k to $25k, adds to the house price, upgrades further adds more.

Most likely, we'll be doing a 4 bed, 3 bath, 2 story.

The home buying market is different from what it has ever been.. We should have a solid headway (models for viewing, construction for other buyers or actual lot availability/permit for this home plan) in the next 60 days. Can't wait!!!

CIBN is the most useless banking certification anyone can think of achieving. It's useless in Naija so imagine how much more useless it is when you leave the shores of the country.

You don't need to go back to school for banking since you have the experience already, you'll just have to decide what area of banking you want to apply to when you arrive.
Do you want to deal with investments, mortgages, treasury etc. It will determine wether you should start studying for CSc or IFC (which most new comers use as an in for financial advisor, financial planner jobs), or if you should just face your CFA.

Yes, Kaplan did it for me in B2. I realized Kaplan had a few details Ashranti didn't have....which would not have been a bother for accounting guys but it was for me.
I just stayed with Kaplan for B3 and B4.

On the other hand, I think there are easier/cheaper options for a 2nd certificate you can explore now, if accounting doesn't work for you. Just read through the express entry thread and weigh your options.

Right now, you don't need transcripts for M.Sc. Transcripts is only for Ph.D.
O Levels requirements is 5 credits which MUST include Economics/commerce, English Language and Mathematics.
