My candid advice for ALL.

Please make sure before enrolling for Nigeria Int'l Passport you are sure of the following:

1. Your date of birth is accurate and the desired one you need in the passport. This is a very difficult process to correct. Imaging travelling to Abuja with the cost involve to do that.

Not everything your money can easily do for you. Many have been scammed by fake agents. Even NIS officials who do not want to stain their image are avoiding this process.

2. You names - though not as complicated as the first but be sure you have the right name on your Int'l passport so as to avoid the stress of running about to correct it

The major challange am having is that the last name on my international passport bear "tope" while the last name on all my credential is written as "Temitope". Am planing to renew my passport, pls my question is, how can i have the last name on the new passport change to "temitope". How can i go about this? help a brother.

Change of name is easy.
Just get your Court affidavit, newapaper publication and NIMC bearing your new name

Court is 1000
NIMC 500
Newspaper 3000

I don't know the DIY NIS fee

Then you apply for a new passport of 25k 32 pages or 35k 64 pages.

That change of date of birth is 200k last last non DIY. It's a difficult process.

It is quite frustrating to be candid.

Even though my passport the date was April.

Oyo state.

I followed this thread and was inspired by DIY, and was fully say no to corruption. Uk carer visa opportunity came around so I told two of my family member to do passport. One in asaba, one in benin. That was in January

O boy... Feb,Mar, Apri,may,June came we are still chasing passport matter. Even one I
sent to bayelsa based on what I saw here. On reaching bayelsa they didn't not agree to capture until after hours later when we had to drop something . ... capture done, 2 months later still no sight of passport . The ones in January we still waiting despite now paying more in the end

Meanwhile all the links for the UK opportunity are now filled up. I am saying no to corruption but if I was to do this passport again, I do it differently and by now these people who have gotten their visa. Kudos to those who do DIY, it simply doesn't work in all states in Nigeria . Some states it takes months have been my life experiences and not what written on NL

Northern States DIY - OK
Southern States DIY - on your own.

Southern States have been turned to Head Quarters of corruption in Nigeria - So pathetic.

An average Northerner would not do what he would do in the North when posted to the South because the South is seen as the milking ground including drilling free oil, VAT etc, not just in NIS, but also in the Police, Armed Forces, VIO, FRSC.

An Average Southerner would not carry his corruption up north at the same scale he does it down South. He would be so afraid because over there boys are not smiling. An average Northerner would not allow a "foreigner" to Milk his kinsmen.

Until effective systems are put in place; we'll continue to see these evil activities rising.

I didn't have the enthusiasm to write this, but I'd be an ingrate if I didn't, as reading how others did theirs went a long way during my capturing process. I scheduled for capturing on 6th June, 9am (they don't follow the time, only the date). Team DIY. The following events took place at Passport Office, Alausa, Lagos;

1. I got into the passport office premises around 9am. I was yet to sign my guarantor's form and I read on here you can do it for N500. I don't know where, but I was armed with the price. I asked around and got offers for 3k, 2k, and 1.5k. I went on to a photocopy shop (three houses from the passport office, beside LASRA) and got it for N1,000. I'm sure if I knew the office of the notary person, I'd have gotten it for less because it was collected from me and taken elsewhere by an attendant.

2. I waited till 10am as the lawyer wasn't around when I got there. When I left, I headed into the passport office (nose mask isn't a must, don't be cajoled to buy one in case you didn't come with one, I'd advise you to go with one though) around 10.20am and submitted my "Application Slip" as requested by the front desk SERVICOM attendant on the right side of the hall entrance. Go straight to them, don't mind the queue outside, go straight inside on your right, you'd see them there.

3. The document was collected and I was told to go wait outside. After about an hour, I went in to ask them what's up, and I was told my name had been called (this is absurd, no names were called as I was waiting outside). My slip was returned and I was told to look at the info behind them to arrange my documents. I was told to put it in a file, that I can get it outside. I went outside and got a pink file for N500 and a tag (you only need one, the guy that sold it to me said I needed two, it costs N50 each).

4. After my docs had been arranged, I was directed to go to the ACI's office where they will be checked by a senior officer. Na here I kon jam agbako! I was attended to by a woman. She requested the original of my birth certificate which I don't have, I had been using a photocopy from the past as an original. This is my bad, she didn't accept it and said she can't do anything about it, say she no fit sign am except she sees the original or an affidavit to back the photocopy.

5. I went back to the woman I used to sign my guarantor's form and I was billed N2,000 for Age Declaration affidavit which was ready in less than 30mins and I dashed back to the woman in the ACI's office. She said I was too fast! Because she said what I needed doesn't mean I should get it done immediately (wonderful!). She told me to go wait outside and threatened to seize my documents if I persisted. I jejely went outside and sat for over an hour.

6. I went back in to check on her, explained to her that I didn't mean to be rude, and she told me to go think, say if I don think finish, make I show back. I didn't leave because I knew what she meant. To skip details, I added 2k cash to my file and handed it to her. She codedly slipped the 2k into her drawer, went on to sign my docs and I was sent back to the SERVICOM guys in front where I was told to go sit for capturing. By this time, it was 4.29pm already.

7. I captured and left the premises around 5.37pm, collection date on slip 08/07. Let's keep our fingers crossed. When I tracked at night, my passport production was in progress.

PS: to avoid hiccups for DIY, please go with your original documents or swear affidavits beforehand to support the ones (photocopy) you have.

At the end of the day DIY is not different from those who did theirs via agents or NIS official. You still ended up tipping and you will still end up tipping to fast tract your documents.

For me it costs more with DIY than with NIS official. My going to their office cost 12k on a single trip using Bolt and will have to make at least 2 trips that's 24k. I don't need to stress myself looking for guarantor because that would be handled by them. Photocopies of my documents is all that would presented. It takes maximum 7 days after capturing if no hiccup. And passport will be sent directly to me. All these for 35k 32pages as against DIY 25k + 1k affidavit + 24k TP + 5k miscellaneous which is 55k

The choice depends on your budget and how quickly you need it.

1). I got unconditional offers from Edinburgh napier and Glasgow Caledonian University with my statement of result and official Transcripts. The likes of ARU, Bangor and Wolverhampton requested for my degree certificate

2). This depends on schools. Research on the school deadline dates.

That seems like a long time, what Uni did you attend? Have you tried to find out if it is now

Some schools might be happy to receive your statement initial but they will ask for your certificate. You can start the process with this but you will need your certificate so work on that please

Some schools may have started receiving application for January 2023

Thanks for your response am using an agent in UK and he requested for it. I know it might take a month or two to get the certificate. I hope starting by July or August for January intake won't be late.

If you sure you entered the right numbers then try again in a weeks time. Probably they've not uploaded the current state of your passport process.

I Love your view, my baby was captured on the 1 of April the person told me it will be out in 3 weeks when I chatted him up after a month to know whether the passport was ready for collection, he was given me stories and asking me to pay another 35k and up till now am yet to have my baby's passport. I did it in Benin City. and am in Lagos now. i will need the passport in july. PLEASE, WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO? is there a way to track it Cos it might even be out and i don't know

You don't know what's going on there. They are determined not to touch DIY files. Let me tell you my story. I captured it on March 10. The collection date was supposed to be April 14. I went there on April 14, no show. Waited till May(can't remember the date I went) is still the same. My deadline for submission of my documents to my school was June 1. I became desperate. I had to pay them, alas, the issuance dated was May 30. I initially thought the man was trying to play me, that my booklet was ready but he wanted to collect money, I went there a week before my deadline, still the same story. That was when I decided to pay. Do DIY only if you are not in a hurry. They are busy producing for only those who pay. They have formed a cabal and they don't care what the government says. I captured on the 4th May with collection date supposed to be on the 8th June. I waited for 3 weeks, I went to Alausa again and they told me that my passport is not ready. I needed urgently to apply for I-20 form. Someone gave me one officers number. I called him and he said since i started with DIY that it would be difficult to get to the file. I paid 25k and he arranged new files with photocopies of my documents. I got the passport with 2 days after. It is very serious issuesquote author=chibjohn post=113569453]

That guy didn't do anything special. Your passport was already out. They just worked on your desperation.

As for fast tracking after capturing, how many weeks faster will one get it if one goes through an Immigration Officer.

e.g DIY takes 5 weeks after capturing.
Paying IO takes 1 week after capturing?

There's no sure timing for both.

I was told that if you pay Immigration officers to fast track, they do not even have influence over capturing date. The only thing they influence is time taken for passport to be ready after capturing is done.

Very true. I wanted a top officer to help me out with one of my relatives Passport. I had already started the process online and got July 3rd after paying the money to him he delayed the process for about 10 days telling me he was looking for a close that but ended up giving me July 7th.

I know quit alright that he can only fastract it after capturing but not before capturing.

Yes the system is well designed but if officers want to mess you up they could just drop your file without attending to it you still have to be vigilant...

More update from you bro. Mine was roughly 3weeks plus after capturing.

My Passport processing experience at NIS HQ Sauka, Abuja was better than i expected but not good enough though!

So i paid for the passport online using my bank card in the month of April but to book appointment for vetting and capturing the earliest date i could find was Friday June 3rd, which i selected and then printed everything required.

Upon getting to the Passport processing facility few minutes to the time written on my appointment slip i was approached by gentle officers who helped me to arrange the documents, but they now told me that they could help in fast tracking the whole process which i gently declined and told them not to bother as im not in a hurry, they now directed me to the open hall with different officers manning their workstations, i went straight to the counters and approached one of the officers who then asked me of all needed documents which i brought out, the officer then gave me two forms to fill which i did and submitted everything to her as she placed them in a file and confirmed my names again, She then told me to sit and wait, She later called my attention and informed that my file has been submitted she then told me to be attentive as they call names!

So the waiting game began, those who sorted where called faster and attended to!
After about 4 hours i was called for capturing and a note was given to me with numbers and six weeks written on it, some hours later i checked on the https://track.immigration.gov.ng and everything looks good, Now waiting for production.
From my interaction with others, those who had issues where mostly from NIN wahala, just make sure your NIN detail tally with what you filled or else they go open bank for your head, i met someone who claimed to have spent over 500k because of NIN issues and time desperation.

Abuja Sauka Hqters no challenge as long as your NIN is OK.
