Four months is too long a visit. IRCC will surely deny you if you indicate you plan to spend 4 months there without any travel history, strong connection to Nigeria and proof of funds. I would advise that you limit your visit to 2 weeks on your application. Canada normally issues visas to the end of your passport validity so you can stay for 4 months but not more than 6 months at a time. Itsrachel: |

It is very clear that there is something in your GCMS notes that they do not want you to see. You can file a complaint about the delay of your GCMS notes to the Information Commissioner here: https://www.oic-ci.gc.ca/en/submitting-complaint . They are required by law to release your GCMS notes within 30 days of your application. Also, the trend with the London Office is to just deny applicants without actually doing a thorough review of their files. My boyfriend's GCMS notes confirmed this and we are taking the appropriate steps to contest this ineptitude. Its a long, expensive process but IRCC has left us no choice. We also sent a reconsideration email the same day we received the decision but we have not heard anything back from the London office. I am just waiting patiently for the 28 days within which they are to respond before following up with their office. ty01: |

His case is a bit complicated - He had applied for a couple of study permits in the last 3 years that were denied due to proof of funds, limited employment prospects etc. His ties to Canada would be me, as we are dating and disclosed that in the application. He has been to the US and UK in the last 2 years on visits and returned back to his job which he has been employed at for about 6 years now - not a spectacular paying job, but not bad by nigerian standards. We struggled with the decision of disclosing our relationship and there were many conflicting posts on Nairaland and Canadavisa. In the end, we opted for the truth. I work in the same profession in Canada with a six-figure salary and i am a Canadian citizen. I provided a strong letter of invitation and supporting documents like my payslips, employment letter, lease and my Canadian passport. I knew his previous refusals may play a role in the outcome of this application but i was hoping for the best. I'm wondering what you'd advise us to do as per next steps. Reconsideration/appeal? Or just see the relationship play out and when we are married, apply for the spousal visa? I'd appreciate your input on this. geotherm: |

Quick update: My friend's application was denied. He received the final decision letter today. Reasons were limited employment prospects and ties to Canada. We've applied for his GCMS notes for more information. Aduke02: |

yomisley: Oh wow... I'm sorry to hear you were refused the visa. If you know someone in canada you can apply for your gcms notes here: https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do You'd have to give them consent to apply on your behalf. There's a form you can also find on the link. If you dont have anyone in Canada, you can apply through some private companies. I don't know a lot about them so I'd leave it for the experts.. Did you also get the Correspondence letter for biometrics validity? |

Ruben225571: My friend just received the biometrics validity letter today for his January application. Is it usual for you to get a final decision soon after the biometrics letter and, from past trends, what is the usual decision - approval or rejection? I noticed from the letter that his application is being processed at the London office. Experts in the house, please help! |

Eclipse24: You can prove your relationship first by using your birth certificates. Do you bear the same last name with your sponsor? Normally, your birth certificate should indicate your parents' names. So your next step is to establish the relationship between you two. You can draw up your family tree indicating you and your cousin n attach a letter of explanation to it. I don't think you need your uncles death certificate at all. |

Futurewiser: Hi Futurewiser, Regina is a good place to be, if you like smaller cities and quiet places. I don't mind so i love it here. There are also job opportunities available here too, depending on what you are looking for. For me, it was a good deal as i studied law and it was practically impossible for me to practice in Quebec without being fluently bilingual. 3 Likes |

I'm glad you got the response you needed.... All the best with your application, maybe Dalhousie would prove me wrong this time. Apologies if i sounded pessimistic, its as a result of my own experience with them.... Thank God for McGill sha! justicia: @ kitty_sunshine. Its true what u said o.I mailed the person in charge of LLM applications at Dalhousie Uni and I got answers. I told him why proof of english should be waved for me,that all my education has been in english. He said I don't need proof once my educatn was in english. He also told me that he has personally received my application and that it will be reviewed soon. Thanks a lot kitty! |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by Aduke02(f): 1:14pm On Oct 19, 2013 |
@Kitty sunshine, i think the difference in how your application was treated was based on the difference in departments. @justicia, I applied for LLM in Dalhousie for 2013/2014 Fall session and it took them 6 months (December-May) to get back to me on my admission status and that was after numerous emails and phone calls! That was the same experience of my friend who finished from Calgary (LLM too) and my friend who is currently at Uni of Sask. I'm not trying to discourage anyone, just giving a piece of advice from my own experience cos if i didn't have other options, i probably would still be in Nigeria biting my fingers right now. i happen to also know someone who got admitted for LLM in Dalhousie with a wonderful package (she went for her LLM virtually free, fully-funded) so the fact that it didn't work for me and my friends doesn't mean it wouldn't work for everybody else. Just ensure you leave your options open. kitty_sunshine: I am going for masters in information Studies. It is under the faculty of management, graduate studies. Check the school website for the contacts of the admission officer and administrative assistant in your department.Call or send an E-mail . Even if u call a wrong office, u will be redirected via extension. |

Dalhousie Uni is a very good school especially for law. I would, however, advise you to apply to other schools too cos from my experience and that of some other friends who applied there 2012/2013, they are fond of refusing to give u updates on your application i.e whether you are successful or not! You have to practically beg them to let you know. One particular friend applied in 2011 and till now is yet to hear from them, she has finished her masters in uni of Calgary since... When you are accepted, you'll definitely get reasonable funding from them depending on whether you applied for the thesis or coursework based LLM. I wish you all the very best. justicia: @ the house and kitty-sunshine. Pls what do u think abt Dalhousie, how would u rate it.I applied to it for LLM,I av submitted all docs, still waitn for acceptance. And do u knw if it gives scholarships for graduate programs.thanks! |

I'm not sure whether they use the e-medicals but when I went for my exam, i was asked to submit just one passport photograph and they took a photograph for their record. When I asked what they needed the photograph for, I was told they were going to send it with my result to CDHC. You could call them to make inquiries though. Their number is 01-7614654. saxywale: |

I think the hospital in VI, Asaju Medical, is better. I didn't book an appointment when I used the place but got there quite early, like 6.30 and I was the first person there. From CMS, your brother should get a bus going to Eko Hotel/VI. He should get down at the Eko Hotel busstop, cross to the other side and ask for Olosa street. Its quite a popular street so i'm sure it wouldn't be hard for him to find. I wish him all the best. Chars1289: Hello House, |

Congrats Humanshado!!! I'm happy that you took the bold step of applying online and have now gotten the result. It is now clear that CDHC wants to discourage the paper route as i'm sure the online method is easier work for them too. I advice all other Winter Applicants who are contemplating the paper route to please go the online route o! it will definitely save you a lot of headache. humanshado: Good News! |

deebla: I think CDHC is trying to instil trust in the online route that's why it ensures that the processing time of online applications is about 7 weeks instead of the previous 18 weeks for paper applications. And the best part is that you get to keep all your original documents with u, including your passport. You can even travel elsewhere while your application is still being processed.... 1 Like |

You can scan as many pages as u'll need so long as u compress the file to fall within the 4mb limit. U can use free online pdf compressors. That's what I used. After scanning, save d file on ur desktop. Then google free online pdf compressor. A popular one is neevia pdf compressor. Its a pretty straightforward process. I'd advise as many Winter applicants as possible to use d online method too. tolyem: |

They only accept fresh applications at cdhc once a week. It has nothing to do with u. Just take a copy of d letter sent to you with ur passport to the embassy. U'd be given a form to fill n asked to wait. Once ur passport has been stamped, u'll be asked to come inside to pick it up. smile13: @Aduke02: Going by your last post, seems that you took your passport to the CDHC on a Tuesday, seeing something on their (CDHC, Lagos) website now that they only collect passports on Wednesdays, pls kindly clarify. Thanks. |

I just came back from CDHC. After submitting my passport and the passport demand letter, i was asked to wait. 2 hrs later, i was asked to come inside the embassy and on getting there, i was given my stamped passport. I give all the glory to God and use my story as a point of contact for as many people trusting God for their medicals and TRV, God that did mine will also perfect your stories IJN. 17 Likes |
