Stephen Keshi has been appointed Nigeria coach for the third time and signed a two-year contract on Tuesday.

In his first spell he won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations but the deal was not renewed after the 2014 World Cup.

He later returned on a match-by-match deal, which ended in November after failure to reach the 2015 Nations Cup.

"It's a fresh start. We need the support of our fans, media and every Nigerian to return the team to where we truly belong," Keshi told BBC Sport.

"As a coach and former player I was also hurt that we failed to qualify for the last Nations Cup.

BBC Sport understands that Keshi has been set several targets and that his contract will be terminated if he does not meet them.

The 53-year-old was also required to sign a code of conduct and is expected to work with the Nigerian Football Federation technical committee.

However, the NFF's technical committee boss Felix Anyansi-Agwu said: "The NFF board is confident Stephen Keshi can take the Super Eagles to new heights.

"We want Nigerians to see this as a new beginning and to support the team and the NFF."

Keshi, who also won the Nations Cup as a player with Nigeria in 1994, declined to comment on the contract details or the exit of his long-term assistant Daniel Amokachi.

Former Nigeria striker Amokachi has left his role with immediate effect and been replaced by Salisu Yusuf.

Yusuf, who led Kano Pillars to the Nigerian title in 2008, has previously worked as assistant to former Nigeria coach Samson Siasia at both senior and U20 levels.

As caretaker coach, Keshi endured a turbulent 2014, in which he was sacked by the NFF and only reinstalled after intervention from Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan.

His last two home matches in Abuja and Akwa Ibom were marred by a negative reaction from the public and Keshi has pleaded for the home supporters to be positive during the 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers.

The Super Eagles have been drawn in one of the toughest-looking groups, alongside seven-time champions Egypt, Tanzania and Chad.

"I understand we still have some disappointed people out there but our dedicated players deserve our encouragement and support," added Keshi.

"It doesn't matter where they play, these boys always give everything and we need to stand by them and the coaching crew.

"I remain confident that this time around we will see an improvement, change in attitude and positive results."

Erin Ijesha (Olumirin) is a seven step waterfall in Osun State, Nigeria, the waterfalls is a whole new exciting and awe inspiring experience with nature. Each step of the waterfall has a flowing fountain that marks the mystical nature of the place. Osun State is home to the late priestess (Iya Adunni) of Osogbo Scared Groove and they are also known World wide for their Osun/Osogbo festival which holds annually in the state. It just happened to be that we where in the state for a friend's wedding and thought to go see the much talked about Erin Ijesha (Olumirin) waterfall. With no map of the place available we had to rely on the friendly locals of the town we met on the road as we drove by. They were all smiles and welcoming, greeting us in their local language i.e Yoruba.

After navigating the gallops (a we use word use to describe uneven roads in Nigeria) on the road, we got there in one piece. It was a bit late as we drove to the gate and we were like the last visitors. My friend and I paid an entrance fee of two hundred naira and was provided with a guide. Before embarking on our climb, our guide Mr. Tunde advised us to get a pair of slippers to aid our climbing. When visiting the waterfall, it is advisable to wear climbing boots or comfortable footwears that won't restrict your climbing.

Ikogosi warm spring, tucked away in the rustic and serene town of Ikogosi-Ekiti, is one of the tourist attractions that this country could be proud of because of the history and myth behind the attraction. What is mysterious about the Ikogosi Warm Spring is the fact that, flowing side by side the warm spring, is another spring, a cold one. IKOGOSI

The warm and cold springs of Ikogosi originate from a close proximity, come to a meeting point, and flow onward together with each spring retaining its thermal identity. The warm spring has a temperature of up to 70oC at the source and 37oC after meeting the cold spring. The meeting point of the warm and cold springs is a unique attraction to tourists.

Tourists attractions
The meeting of the warm and cold water could be a pull to tourist, but to some the myth behind it could be a pull to others as tourists visit attractions for varied reasons.

There are a few legends surrounding the origin and discovery of the Warm Spring and have been passed down generations for centuries. One such myth says that the warm and cold springs were the two wives of a great hunter. One of his wives was said to be temperamental while the other was a quiet woman. One day, the two wives had a fight and after being rebuked by their husband, the temperamental wife changed to the warm spring while the quiet one turned to the cold spring.

Another legend has it that a powerful hunter, while hunting for animals in the forest, first found the warm spring. After the discovery, he went to town with the story and the townspeople on learning about curative powers of the spring, started to worship the spring.

Whatever is the true situation remains to be found out as the story of the Ikogosi Warm Spring is told elsewhere and nothing might be compared to taking a trip to this serenity place to see things for oneself. For those townspeople who formed the first domestic tourists to the site it was tortuous for them to reach the attraction and so it has been for modern day domestic and international tourists as it was hardly accessible; the roads leading to the warm springs were decrepit.

Today, as part of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s transformation package accessibility is now a thing of the past as the roads leading to the resort have been fixed. The road re-rehabilitation formed part of the larger plan to transform the resort to a destination that can attract tourists.

A drive into the resort for the zonal meeting of the Nigeria Union of Journalists during the week was an eye opener to the transformation that has taken place in the resort.

The architectural design of the entrance gate against the landscaping of the over 116-hectare resort was a reminder of the scenic beauty of Obudu resort from the base. In the past, tourists wade through dirty paths and bush to get to the meeting point as well as the tiny source from which the warm and cold water spring forth.

A walk on the trail envelops one with that tranquillity one gets walking a nature trail as all you hear is the chirpings of birds and the coolness of a thick forest through which you walk through. Ikogosi resort could pass for an eco-tourism destination because of the preservation of the flora and fauna there.

Tucked within the forest, as one passes through the former zoo in the resort, is the newly constructed swimming pool with a cozy bar and an eatery for tourists to relax after a visit to the spring.

Great efforts had gone into making the star attraction at the resort, the meeting point of the cold and warm water as well as the source of both to remain clean. Workers were seen removing dirt and other particles from the spring. Done with the sightseeing, I raced back through the walk trail for my meeting unknowing that there was another surprise waiting. The conference hall is an attraction itself as it can seat over 600 people as it can boost of modern conference equipment.

Olumo rock, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nigeria, West Africa, sits in the ancient city center of Abeokuta – a name which means “Under the rock”. Abeokuta was originally inhabited by the egba people who found refuge at the Olumo rock during inter-tribal wars in the 19th century. The rock provided sanctuary to the people as well as a vantage point to monitor the enemy’s advance leading to eventual triumph in war. The town of Abeokuta eventually grew as these new settlers spread out from this location.

The Indonesia ambassador to Nigeria, Harry Purwanto, said Wednesday that Nigerians were among the best people in the world.

The envoy said this during an interview News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.



He said he had observed that a few Nigerians were creating a bad impression about the country abroad.

He called on the majority to do their best to ensure that the minority did not have their way in creating a bad image about the country.

“Nigerians are really good people it is only the minority few that are giving the country the bad image in other countries such as Indonesia.

”Nigerians are not as people perceive them abroad,” Mr. Purwanto said.

Mr. Purwanto said Nigerians with legitimate business were always welcome in Indonesia.
“Nigerians travelling abroad should prove that they are really good.

“They should not violate the laws of the land and drown the voice of the minority that is giving the country a bad name,” the envoy said.

Speaking on Nigerians on death row in Indonesia, the envoy said they were convicted after all due legal processes had been exhausted.

He said their trial went through three stages, culminating at the Supreme Court, adding that they had access to judicial experts throughout their trail.

He told NAN that Indonesia and Nigeria had a lot to benefit from each other, adding that as developing countries they could partner in tourism, education, and media, among areas.

Mr. Purwanto congratulated Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the presidential election and called on him to implement his campaign promises.

He said it was interesting that Nigeria, given its population, was showing a good example in consolidating democracy in Africa.
