What exactly is this thread about?

Alexbells comes across to me like one with what I call "controlled madness".
Meaningless threads meant to create diversion or water down nothe importance of pertinent issues.

Alexbells is to Igbos what musiwa is to Yoruba and what Diatri is to Ijaws.

Mr Politician it appears you don't even read your own document. grin funny man grin grin grin

Please provide any literature or document from the Portuguese era under review that mentions ijos in any scope whatever and not just making silly assumptions, heck the document you even provided even mentioned Akwacross groups and Igbo groups with no Ijos in view yet you still criminally made the thread about Ijos, when everything in Ithe writeup are your mere assumptions and postulation. I told you Ijos have never been relevant in history until jaja.

Ijaws only made history twice one was when an Igbo slave Ruled over them second was when Jonathan became president and both history had Igbo written over it I don't know why you can't let that sink into your head. Abi dem use false history swear for you. Tueh

That is what happens when someone sheepishly listens to people like Asari Dokubo(who is obsessed with his baseless fantasies) without asking questions or making your own findings.
Imagine how much more ignorance is been passed around from generation to generation.

"The best way to hide something from Black people is to hide it inside a book"-Anonymous.

About 200 years ago Crow inferred that blacks then were ignorant of the wealth they were sitting on (in a world without oil) in their home soil, 200 years later nothing much has changed except perpetuating ignorance. One Mongoloid had the effontory to come and say he had 2 UK postgraduate degrees with making any meaningful contribution. He better be wiping his behind with those papers.

You have said it all Some Igbo's rather take asari's rants as Igbo history rather than read a book about his people and their land. The painful part it that Alex is not even ready to learn or correct the misinformation he has been laced with, he rather wallow and sleep in his Ignorance. Sad reality for a Igbo son.

How could you tell who sold who and who did not by remotely staying here today, you can't prove that the Ijaws never sold Igbos, it was a business and anyone can participate, unless you don't care about the truth but if the notion that Ijaws never sold Igbos serve you right, hold on to it and observe it like a ritual but I believe at one point, Ijaws must have engaged or facilitated slave trade,

The two school of thought have every propensity but without ego you should be able to decipher the truth, King Jaja was an Ijaw thats a truth

It's okay for you to say Ijaws sold Igbos into slavery without any historical journal or literature to support your claim but when documented evidence from 1800 is provided to show Igbo's were not sold into slavery by Ijaws and to show that Igbos ruled the Niger Delta all the way to Bonny and Opobo Island you now suddenly coil like a snake to say it is business and any party can sell the other. I am trying hard not to tell you that you are quite dumb and foolish in many ways but i am restricted to restrict myself for the sake of this educative thread.

Your face saving strategy is a weak one kindly learn and educate yourself no one is above mistakes or learning, stop making a Fool of yourself as you can see this thread is littered with intellectuals who can see through your half baked education garnished with fear and spiced with ignorance.

The issue I have with your methods is that, it doesn't take accounts of the fact that this is at best a mixed town and while I believe Bonny should get a referendum, Opobo is an undiluted Igbo town,

I had made it obvious on several occasions that while this place may be a faceless forum for many, I'm real here, also I'm a politician and given the nature of Nigeria irrespective of how high I hold my own people, I MUST look into concern of others even if at daggers point.

These two towns have a bit of history with many people not just Ijaw and Igbos but while Bonny was a melting pot of Eastern culture, Opobo is undeniably Igbo, I honestly don't respect historians account in Opobo, the worst that can happen is a Military option becuase Opobo was the most recent of Ijaw introduction.

As for Bonny, I believe they would get a Refendum, the issue I had with you was becuase I hinted on potentially forming a country with the Ijaws, well that's still very valid in my book becuase if they prove too stubborn they would be annexed,

I also made mention of Ijaws serving as Middle men in trade and slavery, I still hold that notion, depending on if we see someone like King Jaja as Ijaw or as Igbo including Pepple and all the others that came before, then on the other side, Ijaw might be a really insignificant group that assimilated others using the acculturation, they may not even be a true tribe afterall

You should learn the history of your people to know that iJaws never sold them as slaves neither was King pepple and other rulers of Bonny or Opobo iJaws, also Ijaws were irrelevant in Bonny or Opobo pre-civil war as for the rest of your write up that's non of my business.

AlexBells:

Being insulting does not make you anyway smarter, Jaja was not the only influential person, there was king pepple many years before Jaja, remember Jaja's war in Bonny before he left, before Opobo Bonny was already thriving just like the Lagos colony, remember that Mary slessor got on the Calabar axis and there was Christianity and the conversions from the Heathen methods.

Then there was the Aro confeceracy, which was destroyed by the British, Bonny continued to thrive, as you can see, the Aros and others kidnapped the slaves, then hand mostly over to Ijaw marchants, how Did Jaja end in Ijaw territories, it was a slave raiding chain where the Igbo slaves kidnapped was sold to the Ijaws and then Ijaws to the British.

Don't even mention Jaja becuase Jaja only followed in the business of their owners, Unti the coming of Opobo Jaja was an Ijaw so it was leaving Bonny for Opobo that made him free and a King, before you get on the insult level, I don't have to return your insult a good citizen ought to be able to take correction without resorting to insult, bring your facts let's argue.

Mr man you are attaching too much relevance to the Ijaws go read history books nothing was recorded about Ijaws, and who said king Pepple was Ijaws. Mr man Ijaws were not the only people at the Niger Delta I mentioned other groups including Igbo's in my previous post like i posited earlier you are attaching too much relevance to Ijaws. Do you even know Igbo once ruled Calabar?

You even say Ijaws are merchant, please cut that crap Ijaws were in which slave trade are you serious? You mentioned the Aro that did the Igbo raiding why didnt you mention the Ijaw raiders if there were any? Igbos raided and Igbo sold stop thinking small Mr man Igbo's occupied vast of the Niger Delta at the time it is just the Nigerian factor that makes this kind of hard to see in modern day Nigeria. Igbo presidency will change all of that if it can ever happen. You will see how many Niger Delta groups will embrace their Igboness.

I don't have much time, so please refer to Ekealterego our NL Wikipedia to provide you with documented evidence of my claims and where she cannot I will. I do not insult you I only express what your post portrays. Which by the way is not an insult.

AlexBells:

When you don't know history stop inflating your egos, Ijaws served as middle men becuase of their proximity to the coast they were among the first to be met by the whites in the Eastern coast, Bonny especially served as slave trading port before it was later used as port for for normal trade once slavery was abolished, they went into the interior and kidnapped natives, an example was Olauda who was kidnapped along side the Sister.

The British armed the coastal people with guns and hot drinks which they inherited that damaging aspect till this day. The huge Igbo population served as an abundant human resources, I don't know if you had read about "Igbo landing" and the British preferred Igbo slaves, apart from the Ijaws another people that engaged in slave raiding was the Aros, back then even the long Juju in Arochukwu had to be consulted on pressing issue in the coastal areas.

Note I did not say that most times Igbos sold Igbos, most of these slaves were kidnapped against their will, at then slave raiding was profound and unlike today where Igboland is huge back then our lands were more of fragmented smaller kingdoms.

You might call me weak but I know where I'm headed to and even when victory could be guaranteed if we prioritise outright confrontation, our men and women as well would fall in the casualties let's keep all options on the table it is not weakness it humanity

When you finish writing your Waec and Neco exams and pass them come back to read this thrash you will be so embarrassed.

You are making a fool of yourself boy, you think by mentioning Oluadah, and Igbo landing in one sentence you would sound read? Eh? No you sound stupid cause Oluadah was not Kidnapped by Ijaws even king jaja an Igbo man the only man Ijaws truly honour was not kidnapped by Ijaws as well. Stop making a fool of yourself it not about ego it's about educating yourself for sound information.

Heck you even said Ijaws were middle men? Please name these Ijaws or you mean Jaja? If you knew anything you would know that entire area was not Ijaw territory but Igbo, Efiks, Annang, and qua educate yourself you're a mess even Ijaw history revolves around Igbo leaders and kings..

Ukwani camps are just 3 in Bayelsa Osekwenike Abuetor Okpokiri, they share borders with other Ukwani of Delta.
Isoko only have Anibeze.

Ofoni is not Urhobo town, they are Tarakiri clan people.
Under Ijaw Youth Council.

Only small 4 camp like communities are none Ijaw and they share boundaries with their other tribe people.

Only Southern Ijaw LGA, with 2860km² which is far far bigger than half of IMO State with 5,100 km²
Southern Ijaw LGA, among the LGA of Bayelsa state, only Southern Ijaw LGA alone have 176 towns.
Koluama District 103 Oporoma district 73 making 176 towns in Southern Ijaw LGA alone, just like I said here earlier, Ibo frustrations, end here in Nairaland no Ijaw land e reach.

You must think that I am your regular Nlder that is fooled by an uneducated fishermans hook line. Think again fisherman.

At least for my little exposition you have admitted to other groups having camps in Bayelsa something no Ijaw dead or alive would accept or be proud to accept.

Wether it is IDP camps or refugee camps it is no different from what Ijaws have in the 6 states that you claim, can we agree on that? Or is it only other groups that can have camps while Ijaws own states? Ignorant Mofo.

Well let me educate you what you may call camp is so because of the small population of Bayelsa with barely 800k even with all the mixed ethnicity in Bayelsa, the state still looks like an IDP camp not because other groups are few but because Bayelsa is deserted.

Stop fooling around with the noise of a few people belonging to INC, IYC et all that does not mean a thing, in Nigeria we have freedom of association so any one is free to join any group if invited, if Ijaws invited Ndoki, Isoko or Uhrobo individuals to Join their association and preside over their affairs how does that make those group Ijaws. I hope you are not another dumb Ijaw fisherman here to waste my time.

On a final note Bayelsa is not an Ijaw state it is an Igbo state Ohanaeze should be working towards making Bayelsa the 6th SE state soon.

Have a nice floating evening.

One of your elders in Ijawland has Prove you wrong

I enjoyed all your Facebook screenshots providing proof to all your claims and dismissing those of the fishermen as fallacies and a mere fishermans dream's.

However I would like to make one correction on this thread that have been allowed to thrive to page 4 which is that Bayelsa is an Ijaw state, How so? Please desist from saying such going forward.

Ijaws do not have any state of their own in the South or Nigeria at large, they might have in Ghana but as far as Nigeria is concerned I am sure they have none. So desist from making such assumptions going forward.

Bayelsa is a multi ethnic state and no individual group can claim Bayelsa. If any groups should claim Bayelsa as a state then it should be Igbo's as Igbo have more ethics nationals and speakers indigenious to the state than any other group.

Bayelsa comprises of Uhrobo, Isoko, Ukwani, Ndoki, Egbema, Ijo et all, In all 8 LGA in Bayelsa Igbo's have 3, Uhrobo 2, Isoko 2, the Last LGA is mixed with minorities including several ijo clans, it will be worthy to note that few Ijo speakers might be found in one or two other shared LGA.

Saying Bayelsa is an Ijaw state is equivalent to saying Anambra is an Igala state due to the few igalas found in Anambra state northern boarder. Please we should correct this misrepresentation of fact and thought that Bayelsa is an Ijaw State, it was Jonathan ascention to presidency that cultivated this falsehood and fallacy thank you.

Also don't expend to much energy on fishermen the only land they have is on Naira land in real life the spend all their weekdays and weekends floating on canoes, no worries brother. Enjoy your weekend.
