For starters, a group of Perry appointees on the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality gave Simmons a license to build his hazardous nuke dump, even after the TCEQ's own team of scientists agreed that the project was too risky, given how dangerously close it lies to the Ogalalla aquifer, which provides drinking water for seven states.

When I visit the site in September, it has just rained in the area for the first time in a year - really - and there is water all over the place. Rod Baltzer, the president of WCS, insists that the wastewater is being contained and disposed of in a safe, orderly fashion. But it's hard not to look beyond the dump to nearby Eunice, New Mexico, visible just a few miles away, and wonder about the wisdom of taking a private company's word that there is no contaminated water running underground to the nearby town. Especially since another of Simmons' companies, NL Industries, has already been caught leaking radioactive waste into an aquifer in Ohio. In a supremely ironic demonstration of how the modern system of payola capitalism works, Simmons is now being paid millions by taxpayers, via the federal Energy Department, to clean up his own mess, moving radioactive waste from his dump in Ohio to the one in Texas.

November 3, 2011 -- Thin film solar cell maker First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq:FSLR) opened its plant expansion in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany today, representing a $200 million investment and doubling First Solar's production capacity in Germany.

First Solar will now be able to output 500MW annually from its Germany facilities. Covering an area of roughly 50,000sq.m., the new plant will manufacture 250MW a year of solar modules. The new plant became fully operational on schedule after one year of construction. First Solar's employment in Frankfurt (Oder) has almost doubled to more than 1,200.

The factory will incorporate clean electricity from its own rooftop solar system. First Solar has also voluntarily established the industry's first comprehensive, prefunded solar module collection and recycling program and operates a recycling facility in Frankfurt (Oder).

The German investment conditions allowed First Solar to expand solar cell production without losing a competitive cost structure, said Burghard von Westerholt, managing director of First Solar Manufacturing GmbH

Germany Trade & Invest provided its free-of-charge investor consulting services to assist First Solar's German market entry. Germany "remains unwavering" in its commitment to solar energy, said Thomas Grigoleit, director of renewable rnergies & resources at Germany Trade & Invest in Berlin. Governor Uduaghan Threatens Delta Civil Liberty Campaigners With “Treason”

In an incredible turn of events, the embattled Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan, this week in a public gathering boasted that it is impossible for anyone to unseat him for as long as the court is located in his state, and threatened to prosecute civil liberty campaigners for treason.
The threat was issued on Monday, October 31 at the Delta State Government House Annex, Warri, at an event the governor hosted under the pretext of a discussion with civil liberty campaigners in the State.

Following the ‘Occupy Warri’ demonstration, the governor had expressed the desire to meet with the organizers to discuss their concerns and demands.  To the shock of the protesters’ representatives who attended the event in the belief the governor was genuinely interested in discussing their concerns with them, Mr. Uduaghan immediately proceeded to accuse them of being members of Liberate-Delta People’s Movement, a civil liberties group on Facebook whose activities he labeled as ‘treasonable felony.’

Liberate-Delta People’s Movement is a group which claims to represent more than 10,600 citizens of the State.  In recent times, it has criticized Mr Uduaghan’s government, and condemned the manner of his election and the numerous abandoned projects in the State.
The group has also focused on the anomalies surrounding INEC’s declaration of Mr. Uduaghan as elected, in view of the fact that many of its members personally witnessed ballot box snatching and electoral violence, as well as numerous places where elections simply did not take place. It has consequently urged the election tribunal to guarantee the rule of law, justice and restoration of the people’s mandate.

Members of the Uduaghan administration are also on the Liberate-Delta Forum, which has offered them the opportunity to dialogue with citizens of the State on all those matters.  At last Monday’s meeting, Mr. Uduaghan confirmed that he personally reads all of the posts on the Forum on a regular basis although he claimed not to have contributed to the debates.
As he tongue-lashed his surprised guests, the governor said he knew categorically that Liberate-Delta People’s Movement was behind the bad press and “distractions” of his administration, and he named Stephen Dieseruvwe, Cadre Drake and Jude Kakpovbia as being the leaders of the group.

Using the same argument that some government officials often aim at their compatriots abroad, he dismissed those individuals as people who live outside Nigeria.  He said he did not know how they can claim to know what happens in his administration, as if it takes someone who lives in Warri or Asaba to know the chaos of the Asaba International Airport, the Ughelli–Asaba Road Dualisation project; the Warri Industrial Park; Independent Power Project in Ogharafe; the ICT Park in Asaba; or the Asaba Central Hospital.

The angry governor lamented that Liberate-Delta plans to unseat him through unconstitutional means, which, in his words, amounted to ‘treasonable felony’. Uduaghan then boasted that it will be impossible for anyone to unseat him, and that those who have been attempting to unseat via the courts have not succeeded, and would not succeed, unless the court is not in Delta State.
Members of Liberate have been reacting to the reported comments with astonishment and those named are said to be consulting their legal advisers about potential action in relation to defamation of character.  The spokesman for the Group, Mr. Cadre Drake, said:

“The comments accredited to the Governor amount to threats and intimidation and can only be seen as an undemocratic attempt to avoid dialogue with the citizenry.  It is sad that the Uduaghan Administration is making numerous attempts to stifle freedom of speech and desecrate the principal of citizen engagement as a hallmark of democracy and good governance.  The citizens have a right to play a role in how they are governed, this is sadly missing in the Nigerian democracy and Liberate was established to give Deltans this opportunity; to call it treason is very sad indeed.”

Uduaghan’s utterances came at a time when members of Liberate have been facing constant threats and intimidation from members of the Uduaghan administration.  On Facebook on October 26, several days before the governor lost his composure at the public meeting in Warri, someone writing under an assumed profile called Paul Cassidy, known to be used by Uduaghan employees, posted the following comment:

‘And there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth for members of the UK-based terrorist organisation, "Liberate - Delta State Movement". The lead terrorists are: Stephen Dieseruvwe, Jude Kakpovbia, Orode Oyiki, Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro and Judith Akiri. What is treason? Treason is plotting to overthrow a sitting government by unconstitutional means. Beware! You are warned!!!!!!’.

The similarities to the governor’s public statement on October 31 are obvious, indicating that Uduaghan and his close collaborators have been working on a policy that could include intimidation and violence against those they have identified as being behind Liberate-Delta.
Liberate has issued a statement in which it asked its members to remain cautious and vigilant but steadfast in addressing the issue of the governance of the State, and promoting accountability, transparency and progress.

Cuba legalizes sale, purchase of private property

Cuba announced Thursday it will allow real estate to be bought and sold for the first time since the early days of the revolution, the most important reform yet in a series of free-market changes under President Raul Castro.
The law, which takes effect Nov. 10, applies to citizens living in Cuba and permanent residents only, according to a red-letter headline on the front page of Thursday's Communist Party daily Granma and details published in the government's Official Gazette.

The law limits Cubans to owning one home in the city and another in the country, an effort to prevent the accumulation of large real estate holdings. It requires that all real estate transactions be made through Cuban bank accounts so that they can be better regulated, and says the transactions will be subject to bank commissions.

Sales will also be subject to an 8 percent tax on the assessed value of the property, paid equally by buyer and seller. In the case where Cubans exchange homes of equal value in a barter agreement, each side will pay 4 percent of the value of their home.

"This is a very big step forward. With this action the state is granting property rights that didn't exist before," said Philip J. Peters, a Cuba analyst at the Lexington Institute in Arlington, Virginia. "If you think about it from the point of view of a Cuban family, it converts their house from a place to live into a source of wealth or a source of collateral. It's an asset that can now be made liquid."

While the Gazette was available online, few Cubans have access to the Internet and most were waiting for the booklet to go on sale at kiosks around the country. A handwritten sign posted at Havana's main distribution center Thursday advised that the law booklet was not yet on sale.

On the streets of Havana, residents said they were thrilled by the news but anxious to see the fine print.

"This is going to help me because I have some money and now I will be able to buy a better house," said Oscar Palacios Delgado, a 68-year-old office maintenance worker, adding he hoped the government would enact other changes to make it easier for Cubans to find building materials for home repairs. "This law will benefit many Cubans."

Cuban exiles will not be allowed to purchase property on the island since they are not residents. Still, they will be able to send money to help relatives buy new homes, and there was speculation some might try to buy homes themselves through frontmen, something the government would likely try to prevent.

The change follows October's legalization of buying and selling cars, though with restrictions that still make it hard for ordinary Cubans to buy new vehicles.

Castro has also allowed citizens to go into business for themselves in a number of approved jobs - everything from party clowns to food vendors to accountants - and has pledged to streamline the state-dominated economy by eliminating half a million government workers.

Cuba's government employs more than 80 percent of the workers in the island's command economy, paying wages of just $20 a month in return for free education and health care, and nearly free housing, transportation and basic foods. Castro has said repeatedly that the system is not working since taking over from his brother Fidel in 2008, but he has vowed that Cuba will remain a socialist state.

Cubans have long bemoaned the ban on property sales, which took effect in stages over the first years after Fidel Castro came to power in 1959. In an effort to fight absentee ownership by wealthy landlords, Fidel enacted a reform that gave title to whoever lived in a home. Most who left the island forfeited their properties to the state.

Since no property market was allowed, the rules have meant that for decades Cubans could only exchange property through complicated barter arrangements, or through even murkier black-market deals where thousands of dollars change hands under the table, with no legal recourse if transactions go bad.

Some Cubans entered into sham marriages to make deed transfers easier. Others made deals to move into homes ostensibly to care for an elderly person living there, only to inherit the property when the person died.

The island's crumbling housing stock has meant that many are forced to live in overcrowded apartments with multiple generations crammed into a few rooms. Even divorce hasn't necessarily meant separation in Cuba, where estranged couples have often been forced to live together for years while they worked out alternative housing.

According to the Gazette, the new law will eliminate the need for approval from a state housing agency, meaning that from now on sales and exchanges will only need the seal of a notary.

Cubans will also now be allowed to inherit property from relatives without having to live in it first, and they will be able to take title of property of relatives or others who emigrate. Previously, such properties could be seized by the state.

Deltans In Crushing Grip

One of Nigeria’s most seminal author, Ola Rotimi, in his book “The gods are not to blamed” stated that those the gods want to destroy they first make mad.

Chioma Ugbechie must be in a deluded state of mind, or else she won’t see “people cruise through richly asphalted mesh of roads crisis-crossing Delta State’, when such roads do not exist. One wonders where Chioma Ugbechie hails from, as Warri she claims to write from is suspect. Deltans are fed up with Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s inept and anti-progress administration. All roads across Delta State are in a terrible state of disrepair. The Asaba/Ughelli, Warri/Otor Udu/Jeremi Roads, like others in Delta State are completely taken up by potholes and puddles, and countless motorists have lost their lives along these roads. The Asaba/Ughelli road dualization contract was made over 3 years ago, yet no work seems to be going on, and pundits have said the project will not be completed before Uduaghan leaves office.


Governor Uduaghan is a failure and knows he has not faired well in terms of delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Delta State. Every policy or programme of the government is a charade to hoodwink Deltans. Even the ordinary illiterate market woman knows Uduaghan has failed the State and its people. There is restiveness in all parts of Delta, as every sector of the socio-economic life of the people yearns for government intervention. The people wonder where all the state resources are diverted to as nothing is on ground to show for the huge resources that accrue to it regularly, either from the federation account or internally generated. The Ngozi Iweala induced publications in national dailies on financial allocations to states, took the shine off Uduaghan’s face, as he and his spin doctors have always lied to the people about the poor finances of Delta. The Governor has nothing on ground to show for the over N100 billion he collected from the federation account in 6 months.

A hireling who probably has not been to Delta State even for once in her entire life, like Ugbechie, but sits in the comfort of her home where only God knows, cannot fool Deltans with lies as she intended in her piece in the Vanguard of October 5, 2011 because they know where the shoe pinch. To defend their lies and improprieties as revealed by Sahara reporters, an on net squealer, on the Obasanjo Farm in Delta State and other shady deals, the government of Uduaghan tried unconvincingly to explain how it fixed idle funds in Oceanic Bank to earn interest for the state. These are arrant nonsense and unconvincing fabrications. Emmanuel Uduaghan and a few collaborators have hijacked the resources of Delta for themselves their families and friends. As I write this piece, the governor and BGL of Albert Okumagba have perfected plans to mortgage the future of our children through a N100 billion public offer of bonds to get money from the Capital Market to fund infrastructures in Delta State. An administration that has not properly managed visible state resources cannot be trusted to prudently utilize borrowed money. Rather, they want to indebt our children yet unborn and appropriate such monies for themselves.

A State where the administration imposed high taxes on the public work force to generate funds because the government cannot adequately meet its obligations, suddenly have idle funds to put in fixed deposit to earn interest? Is this not more than what the magicians or con artists of those days use to call “America Wonder”. In States like Akwa Ibom and Rivers their governors are up and doing executing projects and touching the lives of the people, while that of Delta is idle. Uduaghan and his handlers should be ashamed to parade an uncompleted airport and the Warri Master plan as projects to brag about. One therefore wonders where Ogbechie saw hospitals that are operating at full swing, well furnished schools, etc. She must be in a state where her mind is playing tricks on her. Delta State is not in some unknown planets, it is around the corner. Those in doubt and want to confirm stories either for their lies or truth should visit. The misrule of Uduaghan has no pair elsewhere. He is desperate to be in power to cover the atrocities of his mentor and for himself. But nothing last forever, there is always a day of reckoning. Uduaghan may confirm from ex-governors Akala, Daniel, and Doma.

Third worker says Cain harassed; campaign denies

A third former employee considered filing a workplace complaint against Herman Cain over what she deemed aggressive and unwanted behavior when she and Cain, now a Republican presidential candidate, worked together during the late 1990s, the woman told The Associated Press on Wednesday. She said the behavior included a private invitation to his corporate apartment.
The woman said he made sexually suggestive remarks or gestures about the same time that two co-workers had settled separate harassment complaints against Cain, who was then the head of the National Restaurant Association.

Cain's campaign denied anew that he'd done anything wrong, decried a "smear campaign" as he is riding high in opinion polls and accused rival Rick Perry's operation of being behind the original stories.

Perry's campaign denied any involvement - and suggested the campaign of yet another candidate, Mitt Romney, might be a source.

A woman interviewed several times by the AP said she did not file a formal complaint against Cain because she began having fewer interactions with him. Later, she learned that a co-worker - one of the two women whose accusations have rocked Cain's campaign this week - had already done so. She said she would have felt she had to file otherwise.

The woman spoke only on condition of anonymity, saying she feared losing her current job and the possibility of damage to her reputation. She was located and approached by the AP as part of its investigation into harassment complaints against Cain that were disclosed in recent days and have thrown his presidential campaign into turmoil. She said she was reluctant to describe the encounters she had with Cain when they worked together at the Washington-based restaurant trade group.

The employee described in conversations with the AP over several days situations in which she said Cain told her that he had confided to colleagues how attractive she was and invited her to his corporate apartment outside work.

His actions "were inappropriate, and it made me feel uncomfortable," she said.

The AP confirmed that the employee worked at the restaurant association with Cain during the period in question, that she has no party affiliation in her voter registration in the past decade and is not identified as a donor in federal campaigns or local political campaigns. Records show she was registered as a Democrat at one point previously.

Asked for comment about the accusations, including the most recent, Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon said, "Mr. Cain has said over the past two days at public events that we could see other baseless allegations made against him as this appalling smear campaign continues." Gordon added, "He has never acted in the way alleged by inside-the-Beltway media, and his distinguished record over 40 years spent climbing the corporate ladder speaks for itself."

Later campaign manager Mark Block alleged that Texas Gov. Perry's campaign was behind the original stories on the two women and demanded an apology.

Denying any involvement, Perry spokesman Ray Sullivan says the Texan's campaign learned of the allegations when Politico first published a story late Sunday evening.

Cain himself, in an interview with Forbes, said he believed a Perry consultant gave information about the allegations to Politico.

Cain said he outlined the allegations of a woman to the consultant, Curt Anderson, when Anderson was helping him on an earlier campaign.

Anderson said in a statement to AP: "I was one of several consultants on his Senate race in 2004 and was proud to help him. I never heard any of these allegations until I read about them in Politico, nor does anything I read in the press change my opinion that Herman is an upstanding man and a gentleman"

Perry's campaign pointed to former Massachusetts Gov. Romney's operation as a possible source of the Politico story. "There are real ties between Romney campaign backers and Mr. Cain and the National Restaurant Association," Sullivan said.

Meanwhile, another woman who worked with Cain at the restaurant association, said, "I found him to be a good boss." Christina Howard, a former lobbyist for the association, said, "I felt no problem going into his office and asking for his advice."

She said she didn't recall allegations about Cain during his tenure and added, "I'd roll my eyes at anyone who would make that allegation."

Though trying to project an image of campaign business as usual, Cain appeared frazzled at times Wednesday and couldn't escape the questions that have dogged him since a published report Sunday night that at least two women had complained about his behavior while at the restaurant association and had been given financial settlements. The controversy has arisen two months before the leadoff Iowa caucuses and as polls show Cain at the head of the GOP field alongside former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

As the day began, Cain said, "There are factions that are trying to destroy me personally, as well as this campaign." He didn't say to whom he was referring, but he said "the voice of the people" is stronger.

Cain was supposed to take questions after a speech to health care professionals, but he ultimately refused and left the hotel through a back door.

"I'm here to visit with these doctors, and that's what I'm going to talk about, so don't even bother asking me all of these other questions that you all are curious about, OK? Don't even bother," a testy Cain told a throng of reporters.

When pressed about the week's previous allegations, Cain raised his voice and said "What did I say? Excuse me. Excuse me!" as hotel security led him through a hallway jammed with journalists in a Washington suburb. "What part of 'no' don't people understand?"

Meanwhile, another of Cain's accusers appeared increasingly reluctant to speak publicly, though her lawyer took the first steps for her to do so. Attorney Joel P. Bennett contacted the association on Wednesday and asked it to release his client from the confidentiality arrangement she had agreed to so that she could talk openly about her allegations and respond to Cain's assertion that her complaints were "totally baseless and totally false."

Cain has declined to say whether he will ask his former employer to terminate confidentiality restrictions on the two women who accused him of sexual harassment in the 1990s while he was head of the trade group. Cain campaign manager Block said the campaign would address that question "when it's appropriate."

Sue Hensley, a restaurant association spokeswoman, confirmed that Bennett contacted the trade group and was told to contact its outside counsel. Hensley said Bennett expected to meet with his client and make the request on Thursday.

Confidentiality agreements that commit both sides to silence are common in financial settlements of an employee's sexual harassment claims, lawyers for management and employees said. Violating such an agreement can lead to a complaint in court and an order to pay damages, or at least the other side's attorney's fees, said Sarah Pierce Wimberly, a partner in the Atlanta office of the Ford and Harrison law firm.

But when the silence is broken, it's often hard to find the source of the leak, said Robert Kelner, a partner in the Covington and Burling firm's Washington office. He said, "The truth is, when parties enter into these confidentiality agreements around a settlement, they usually understand that there is less than 100 percent certainty that the information is truly going to remain confidential."

It's not clear if Cain himself was part of the settlement or whether it just involved the association and the woman. But he almost certainly would be bound by it, as the association's former president.

Over the past two days, Cain has acknowledged he knew of one agreement between the restaurant association and a woman who accused him of sexual harassment. He has said the woman initially asked for a large financial settlement but ultimately received two to three months' pay as part of a separation agreement. Cain also acknowledged remembering one of the woman's accusations against him, saying he stepped close to her to make a reference to her height and told her she was the same height as his wife.

He has said he is not aware of agreements or settlements with any other women, though Politico - which first disclosed the allegations - reported that the trade group had given settlements to at least two female employees who accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior.

In media interviews since the story broke Sunday, Cain has offered conflicting accounts of what happened during his tenure at the trade group in Washington. He later acknowledged knowing about one settlement but said he did not know how much was paid. The New York Times reported Tuesday that one payout was $35,000, equivalent to one year's salary for one of the women.

The pressure on Cain only increased when a pillar of the GOP establishment suggested that the Georgia businessman should ask the association to waive the confidentiality agreements so that the woman can talk openly about her allegations.

"What are the facts?" asked Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour on MSNBC. "If you have a confidentiality agreement that keeps the public from finding out something that the public is interested in knowing the facts, you ought to go on and get the facts out."

"Herman Cain's interest is getting this behind him," added Barbour, a former Republican National Committee chairman.

A former talk show host, Cain is a self-styled political outsider who has attracted tea party support and, up until now, has weathered a series of stumbles that have many GOP luminaries questioning his ability to run a viable campaign much less win the party's nomination. Conversely, Romney is running his second national campaign and has spent the past few weeks shoring up support among the GOP establishment for a nomination fight many Republican insiders think is his to lose.

In Franz Kafka’s most popular work “The Trial”, his characters relate a short parable which has fascinated and confused curious readers for generations. That parable is entitled “Before The Law”, and its message has been interpreted, reinterpreted, and agonized over by the labyrinthine contrariness of academia, producing numerous conflicting views:
Existentialists, of course, automatically jump to the conclusion that “Before The Law” is a message of the absurd nature of man’s search for reason and structure in a universe of random coincidence. That “the law”, as it were, is a superficial concept that humanity uses to make life more bearable. That we seek to create artificial social constructs in order to keep ourselves afloat in a sea of chaos. This is partly true. The law is, indeed, an abstraction conjured by men. However, the source of the most fundamental laws, being inherent conscience, is far from abstract. In fact, it is one of the few aspects of our existence that is undeniably tangible and universal. It is proof that all is NOT random, and that there is a meaning and a purpose to what we do here and now.



I see “The Trial” and “Before The Law” not as treatise on the futility of man’s search for justice, but as a warning on the foolishness of man’s dependency on systems not rooted in conscience. That is to say, we have a tendency to linger about idly while others make our decisions for us. We expect the system we live in to provide answers, to provide nurturance, to provide fairness, and to provide change where necessary. This expectation is a dangerous one.
Most social and political systems today are designed around collectivist methodologies. Their primary tool is centralization of power, and the removal of choice from the public consciousness. We are made to believe that the establishment is necessary for our survival, and that to abandon it would mean certain destruction. We are taught that the individual is subservient and inconsequential in the face of the state. This is simply not so. Like the traveler in “Before The Law”, we have been defeated by our own expectations of how the law (or justice) works. We sit and wait for permission, when we should be charging through the gates and taking what is rightfully ours.
Even amidst recent and increasingly prevalent protest actions on the part of Occupy Wall Street groups, there are still some within these movements who believe the answer to fighting back against the corruption of banking cartels and puppet politicians is to hand even MORE power over to the state, and to collectivize our culture still further. The ignorance of this mentality is no less than astonishing.
The only practical strategy for combating the tyranny of centralized systems has been and always will be decentralization. Individuals must stop relying on the rules of a rigged game to see them through to the truth. This means that while mass protests are certainly a powerful tactic for voicing concerns on an international stage, they accomplish little to nothing in the way of meaningful change in the long run unless they are backed by individual actions to break away from dependency upon a poisoned political and economic framework.
The common assumption amongst Americans is that nothing can be done without mass action resulting in “compromise” from leadership. That the healing of our cultural dynamic is a “top down” process. That one person alone has little at his disposal for bettering the world. In fact, it is always self aware and self sustaining individuals who build better societies, not angry mobs without understanding or direction. Individuals blaze the path that the rest of the world eventually follows, and they do this through one very simple and effective act; walking away.
By walking away from the corrupt system, and building our own, we make the establishment obsolete. This philosophy could be summed up as follows:
Provide for yourself and others those necessities which the corrupt system cannot or will not, and the masses (even if they are unaware) will naturally gravitate towards this new and better way. Offer freedom where there was once restriction, and you put the controlling establishment on guard. Eventually, they will either have to conform to you, attack you, or fade away completely. In each case, you win. Even in the event of attack, the system is forced to expose its tyranny and its true colors openly, making your cause stronger.
The obvious question now is; how can each one of us use this strategy in our daily lives? Here are just a few easy applications:
1) Focus On The Federal Reserve
If you as an activist or the movement you support are not fully aware of the private Federal Reserve Bank and its primary role in the destruction of our economy, our currency, and our political dynamic, then your protests are a waste of time, and your movement will end in failure. Uneducated mass actions are easily manipulated, and can even end up serving the purposes of those oligarchs they seek to dethrone. G. Edward Griffin’s full analysis on the history of the Federal Reserve “The Creature From Jekyll Island” and similar materials should be handed to every OWS protester before it is too late.
2) Take Back Your Savings
Do you have a bank account with one of the so called “too big to fails”? Is the culmination of your savings currently in the hands of financial monstrosities like Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, etc? Well, take your money back! This has been done by a few protestors and the response from banks has been outlandishly oppressive, including new guidelines attempting to obstruct customer access to savings, and even calling the police! This tells me that they are afraid. Afraid of Americans catching wind of the idea that the money they place in the accounts of bad banks is still theirs to do with as they will. If you don’t like how these institutions operate, don’t let them have your money. It’s as simple as that. Not only is this an act of defiance that truly hurts the banking system, it also protects your hard earned wealth (at least initially) from the inevitable collapse of these fiscally insolvent blood leaching leviathans (watch Bank of America closely, folks!).
3) Use Alternative Currencies
After you take your savings away from the banks, you still aren’t quite free of their influence. You are now holding fiat dollars, which the Federal Reserve, the foundation of all banking fraud, is currently devaluing. The idea of walking away from the dollar sounds ridiculous or even frightening to those trapped in the centralization mindset, but it is a highly effective method for combating the system itself. The dollar is a sham, and has been since its future was handed over to the Fed in 1913.
Alternatives exist, and they must be utilized. Communities across the country use various scripts as a means to diminish reliance on the dollar, but ultimately, the best currencies are those that cannot be created out of thin air unhindered. This means gold and silver.
Central banking proponents have been railing against even the concept of a return to gold and silver currencies for years, and the Department Of Justice has labeled the use of such alternatives in place of dollars as a form of “domestic terrorism”. This should tell you, quite clearly, that they are deathly afraid of activists organizing to drop the dollar to pursue metals. If the system is willing to use the law as a weapon to keep us from having sound money, then we should be rubbing their nose in it daily by trading without dollars. They should be forced to react, and in the process, forced to expose their true intentions for our economic futures.
4) Build Barter Networks
If a bunch of people can band together to huddle in parks with signs for weeks in cities across the nation, then they can band together to trade goods and services outside the establishment system as well. Barter networks grow spontaneously out of economic collapse regardless of what any group decides to do, but generally, they appear AFTER the worst has happened. Wouldn’t it be wiser to organize such markets now, before a full collapse takes place? By preempting disaster with a backup or failsafe free market barter economy in each town and city, we insulate ourselves from the effects of the crisis, and, we cut loose from our dependency on the controlled mainstream economy. Localized trade makes it possible to walk away from corporate chains and maintain the circulation of wealth within a community, while countering the increasingly higher taxes caused by austerity and inflation that we are likely to see in this country very soon. It really is a no-brainer.
5) Grow A Garden
I don’t know how to say this nicely; don’t be a jackass, learn to grow your own food. Don’t expect that our economy will continue to sustain you. Actually, you should have every expectation that it won’t! If every Wall Street or Fed protester had their own garden patch and some stored goods, we would all be much safer. Food dependence is the worst kind. It has been used by governments and despots for centuries to cull the masses and dissuade dissent.
Sharecropping should be common in every community. Neighborhood gardens should be standard. Every household should have a year’s worth of food. Period.
Imagine that you lose your job and every cent you have tomorrow. Imagine that mom and dad are broke and have no money to lend you. Imagine that food stamps are a thing of the past because the national debt has become so exponential that entitlement programs have been erased. Now, how do you live from day to day? Where do you get the nutrition required for you to continue holding up that sign or shouting that slogan? Think about it…
6) Start A Micro-Industry
If the U.S. economy is ever going to get on its feet again, it will be because average Americans bring it back through local industry. This means ending our community addictions to corporately produced goods and returning to specialized trade skills. It means coalitions of local farmers, craftsmen, and micro-industries providing goods and services with a city or county based market focus. Large manufacturers and business chains relying on the model of globalization will have absolutely no ability to rebuild mainstreet commerce, even if they wanted to, because their methods depend upon constant outsourcing and downsizing for survival. Private tradesmen will be the only people capable of filling the dark void these corporations leave behind.
7) Start An Activist Group
The establishment HATES when you do this. The spontaneous organizing of groups outside government or corporate purview has generated notoriously absurd responses from authorities, including accusations of “extremism”, infiltration, and wrongful arrest. If this sounds frightening, then I suggest you get over it quickly, because this is going to be the norm for many years to come. The evils of the world are not undone by apathetic naysayers anymore than they are undone by mindless mobs. Without the coordinated actions of aware individuals with a common focus, nothing is going to change.
This group could be something a simple as a local barter network or a political discussion forum, or, a complex national organization geared towards tangible political action. It doesn’t matter as long as it’s based on the promotion of Constitutional freedoms, and its leadership is decentralized. Just make it happen…
At bottom, if we want to fight back against a system we cannot take back through traditional means, then we must learn to walk away. If the system feeds us, clothes us, and shelters us at will, then ordinary protest is pointless. Our tender parts are in a rusty vice on the autocratic workbench and until we pull them out, no amount of screaming and pounding will improve our situation. Independence is won through the constant striving for self responsibility. Freedom is won through a position of personal strength, not weakness and self-enslavement.
Numbers alone do not make a movement, and the elites we currently work to supplant are not going to flinch at a few random protests. In all likelihood they will welcome these actions as a useful distraction. Tyrants don’t fear the torches and pitchforks anymore. What they do fear is balanced insight, self reliance, and exceptional force of will. A handful of men with these attributes are far more dangerous to a corrupt system than thousands of citizens driven only by insatiable anger. To overcome oppression, we must first overcome ourselves. The ability to step outside the paradigm, the ability to act without permission, and charge the gates without apprehension, is the key to toppling totalitarian systems and exposing the great lie of our age; that we cannot exist without the cage we were born into.

Industry sources, speaking off the record, suggested any wholesale switch from large banks to CUs on Nov. 5, the day designated by one Californian and carried atwitter Monday, could conceivably put net worth ratios out of whack.

The balance sheet problem was raised by several industry officials as a potential hazard as online articles focused on what “Occupy” supporters are calling now for a specific action to underscore their complaints against big banks and corporate “greed.”

For the record, Mark Wolff, CUNA senior vice president-communications, said only that the trade group welcomes the idea of “a viral 'Bank Transfer Day'” since it shows “just how angry consumers are becoming with their treatment by big banks” and will now look at CUs.

CUNA said its Facebook posts have already witnessed big jumps in traffic on www.asmarterhoice.org. There also have been big gains on www.findacreditunion.org.

Many consumers, said CUNA, are already “discovering” credit unions online and “many more no doubt will as a result of this Bank Transfer Day initiative.”

(CBS News)  In Norway, Maine, there is a 1990 Honda Accord with the nickname "True Blue." It's been going so long it recently passed the 999,999 mile mark. Since it's logged more than a million miles, you can't see the actual number on the odometer because it doesn't go that high.


Owner Joe LoCicero told co-anchor Chris Wragge on "The Early Show" that he has to do a lot of maintenance to keep the 15-year-old car running -- so much that his wife sometimes gets jealous of his relationship to the vehicle.


He said, "I have to make special time (with my wife), and I try to break up my maintenance into smaller pieces so that rivalry is not as big."


LoCicero says that, because of the economy, he's been averaging about 55,000 miles on the car in recent years.


But keeping the car running hasn't been without its rewards. In addition to having a functioning vehicle, LoCicero has received some recognition from Honda. He received a parade in his honor from the Japanese automaker, as well as a new Honda Accord, which he's dubbed "Midnight Blue."


LoCicero said, "I love Honda. I love this particular color. And I love the fact that it's 20 years newer technology."


But just because he has a new car doesn't mean he's going to abandon "True Blue."


When asked if he's going to put the million-miles vehicle out of commission, LoCicero said he's not and plans to "drive it a while longer."

Barring any last minute changes, Governor Timipre Sylva’s hope of retaining his seat in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Bayelsa state, may have been foreclosed. Competent sources have revealed that Governor Timipre Sylva, who is the chief

security officer of the state, has become a liability and security risk to the Nigerian security agencies and cannot be trusted with the responsibility of governance.

His actions and utterances, penultimate week, caused panic within the presidency and Nigerian security apparatchiks. President Jonathan was said to be highly disturbed by Governor Sylva`s conduct that he hurriedly summoned a meeting of security chiefs in Nigeria, with Governor Sylva in attendance, to defend himself.

At the meeting Governor Sylva took responsibility for his utterances and conducts, citing frustration on his part and lack of support from President Jonathan as being responsible for his misdeeds. Subsequently, Governor Sylva knelt down and begged the President and the security czars present to forgive him. He was then asked to cease and desist from making threats capable of heating up the polity and return to Yenogoa immediately.

However, security has been beefed up around President Jonathan, his family and interests in Nigeria, particularly in his home state, Bayelsa.

To this end “Famou Tamgbei”, a security team, consisting mainly of mobile policemen which was constituted by Governor Sylva and is alleged to be loyal to him, has been disbanded by the Inspector General of police, Hafiz Rigim.

Irked by Governor Sylva’s conducts, leading members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) of Ijaw extraction has begun shopping for his replacement. It is however uncertain if they have the backing of President Jonathan.

Huhuonline.com understands that Governor Sylva in a telephone conversation with President Jonathan`s brother and former Bayelsa state commissioner for Health, Dr. Eruani Azipanu, had threatened to kill him, President Jonathan and his wife, Patience, if he was not re-elected as Governor.

In a telephone conversation with Huhuonline.com, Eruani said:

“Governor Sylva called me one early morning, and I answered and said Good morning Your Excellency. Sylva responded, Please don’t call me that, I heard the President wants to remove me as Governor and install you, so that is why you refused to return as commissioner?

“Let me tell you something. THIS WILL BE THE LAST FIGHT; I WILL KILL PRESIDENT JONATHAN, HIS WIFE, PATIENCE AND YOU. YOU SHOULD BE AWARE THERE IS BOKO HARAM. I WILL MOBILIZE THEM TO YENAGOA AND WILL SINK THE STATE IF YOU PEOPLE MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TO REMOVE ME”.

Our investigation reveals that for several months, Sylva had complained to the Inspector General of Police, Haffiz Rigim that he does not have access to President Jonathan. He said as the Governor of Mr. President’s home state, he was supposed to have unfettered access to the President.

However the president’s inner caucus decided to move against him because of his role during the health crisis of former President Umar Yar’Adua that created power vacuum. According to security reports,it was alleged that Governor Sylva provided Five hundred million naira (N500, 000,000.00) as bribe to the National Assembly to make sure that Goodluck Jonathan does not emerge as acting President.

Attempt to reach Governor Sylva was unsuccessful, calls to his phone were not answered, neither did he respond to our text messages as at press time.However, sources close to the Governor insist that his threats was a political ploy, aimed at putting the President`s men, who are opposed to his re-election on the defensive.

Asked about Governor Sylva’s threats vis-a-vis, his right to freedom of expression, a leading constitutional lawyer from Nigeria, who craved anonymity, said, “Governor Sylva crossed the line, the Nigerian constitution, (Chapter 4, section 33), guarantee every citizen the right to life, and states no one should be deprived intentionally of his life. It is wrong for anyone to threaten another life, talk less an elected Governor to threaten to terminate the life of a sitting President”. This is political suicide, and unless President Jonathan let this slide, Gov. Sylva may have ended his political carrier, he said.

In a related development there are indications that the removal of the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa, Chief Dairus Obiene, would have negative effects on the struggle by the incumbent governor ofBayelsaState, Chief Timipre Sylva, to secure the party’s governorship ticket.

Investigation revealed that the governor, who lobbied spiritedly for Obiene to retain his job as part of the grand plan to win the PDP primary slated for November 19, 2011 became worried as the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) approved the appointment of James Dugo as the substantive chairman ahead of the February 2012 governorship poll.

The tenure of the former state chairman was characterised by bickering and series of complaints by PDP major stakeholders and members, regarding lopsidedness in the party’s hierarchy.

President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Sylva and Obiene are from Bayelsa East Senatorial District, a development which generated ill feelings within the party members in Bayelsa.

Also learnt that the decision of the NWC to ratify the appointment of Mr James Dugo, on Tuesday, inAbujahad terribly rattled the camp of the governor’s loyalists against the forthcoming primary election.

The source further hinted that Sylva had approached elder statesmen from the Niger Delta region and Amanyanabo of Nembe Kingdom, Edmund Daukoru, the leadership of Ijaw National Congress (INC), Bayelsa Founding Fathers Forum, Bayelsa Elders Forum and paramount ruler of President Goodluck Jonathan’s Otuoke community, HRH Lot Ogiasa, to prevail on the president to give him a chance.

Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi yesterday said that the present political structures of Nigeria are too cumbersome and economically wasteful to guarantee rapid development of the country.

Sanusi who spoke as the Guest Speaker on the occasion of the presentation of professor Adamu Baike’s book, “Against All Odds” at Arewa House, Kaduna noted that the present 36 States are spending 96 percent of their revenues to pay salaries of their respective civil servants in an economy that is to develop on a long term basis, and posed a rhetorical question, “do we need 36 States, do we need the number of ministries that we have”?

He also pointed out that the Federal government is spending 70 percent of its total revenue to pay workers’ salaries as well as taking care of the overhead cost, maintaining that it has denied the growth of some vital sectors of the socio-economy of the nation, leaving only 30 percent for 150 million Nigerians.
The CBN boss whose paper presentation was entitled, “Re-Invigorating Education In Nigeria”, lamented that there are 71, 000 Nigerian students in Ghana who are paying not less than 155 billion naira as tuition annually, compared with the annual budget of 121 billion naira for the entire federal university education in Nigeria.

According to him, “ltimately we will have to be confronted with the task of taking very difficult steps in looking at the political structures that we have, do we need 36 States, do we need the number of ministries that we have, it is an economy in which States spend 96 percent of their revenues to pay their civil servants, an economy that is likely to be developed in the long term.?
“These are difficult questions that we need to ask, we have created States and local governments and ministries structures that are economically unviable, and the result is that we do not have funding for infrastructures, we do not have funding for education, we do not have funding for health.

“I don’t know how many people know that 70 percent of the total revenue of the Federal government is spent paying salaries and over head, and leaving the remaining 30 percent for 150 million Nigerians.
“For example, according to a newspaper account, and quoting the chairman, committee of governing councils of Nigerian Federal Universities: “there are 71, 000 Nigerian students in Ghana who pay not less than 155 billion naira as tuition annually, compared with the annual budget of 121 billion naira for the entire federal university education in Nigeria. Findings placed Nigeria third on the list of countries with the highest number of students studying overseas.

“The poor state of education is also manifested in dearth of functional libraries, poor state of learning infrastructure, limited access to recent advances in various spheres of knowledge, and longer time required to complete a programme. Others include modality of teaching with instructional materials and facilities, lack of space for admission and irregularity in academics calendars of tertiary institutions arising from incessant strike actions embarked upon by both academic and non-academic staff union.

“In emerging economy like Nigeria, a well designed education policy should be an integral part of its development strategy; the present economic strategy should include measure to invest in human capital that facilitates in upgrading of industries, and ginger the economy to attain utmost resources utilization.

“It is not enough to simply lament the tragedy, let alone treat it with kid gloves, we completely agree with the House of Representatives that a state of emergency should be declared in our education sector now. Further procrastination on this very matter will inflate impracticable and irreversible damage to the nation.”

Quality Sports Investments Ltd., based on the island of Jersey in the English Channel, and London-based Doyen Capital Partners LLP are working with teams including Atletico Madrid, Sporting Lisbon and Turkey’s Besiktas to bankroll signings in return for a share of any profit when the players are traded to another club.

The investments -- which yielded returns of as much as 64 percent per player for a fund managed by Banco Espirito Santo SA (BES) -- are taking hold in Spain as banks refuse to extend credit to clubs, according to former league vice-president Javier Tebas. The trend is undercutting club’s ability to make money from player sales, one of their main sources of income, said Jose Luis Sanchez, head of “Senales de Humo,” an Atletico fan club.

“This is a short-term fix that only benefits a select group of investors and team owners,” Sanchez said. “It’s no way to develop a soccer team.”

As well as buying shares in transfer rights when players move teams, the funds are buying stakes of under-contract squad members. Banned by the English Premier League since 2008, the purchases are allowed by Zurich-based soccer ruler FIFA as long as investors don’t interfere in player trades.

The transfer rights of as many as three players in last night’s Spanish league game between Atletico Madrid and Real Zaragoza are part-owned by funds.

$62 Million Fund
Lisbon-based Espirito Santo has managed the Benfica All Stars fund since 2009, betting 44 million euros ($62 million) on the rights of 24 players contracted to the Portuguese club, according to team filings. According to Bloomberg calculations, a 4.4 million-euro purchase of 20 percent of the rights of playmaker Angel di Maria in 2009 will yield a return of as much as 64 percent after he joined Real Madrid for as much as 36 million euros. The money will be paid over several years.

Espirito Santo spokeswoman Ana Matos declined to provide information on the fund’s overall performance, as did Benfica spokesman Ricardo Maia.

Quality Sports bought a share of the rights of about 15 players after raising money from 20 individuals, former Creative Artists Agency Inc. executive Peter Kenyon, now an advisor to the company, said Sept. 16. The fund is a venture between the Los Angeles-based talent agency CAA and Gestifute SA, which represents Cristiano Ronaldo, the world’s most expensive player, among about 70 others. FIFA is looking at the fund to check that it complies with soccer rules.

Based in an office in London’s Mayfair district where staff also trade uranium, Doyen Capital signed sponsorship accords with Spain’s Atletico Madrid, Getafe and Sporting Gijon with a view to investing in transfer rights through a unit in Malta, according to an Oct. 20 statement. Doyen executives declined to comment.

‘Best Interest’
Asked about Atletico’s links with investment funds, sports director Jose Luis Perez Caminero told reporters Sept. 7 that executives always act in the best interest of the team although “we don’t always want to say everything we are doing.” Club spokesman Juan Jose Anaut declined to give details of agreements with investment funds.

Sporting Gijon spokesman Jose Luis Rubiera said it hasn’t sold any transfer rights yet. Getafe spokeswoman Luz Monzon said no-one at the club was available for comment. Besiktas officials didn’t return two e-mails seeking comment.

‘At The Limit’
Soccer clubs’ finances in Spain were “at the limit” even before the credit crunch and now banks are reluctant to extend credit lines to them, Tebas said. Spanish banks’ bad-loans ratio rose to 7.15 percent in August, the highest since 1994, the Bank of Spain said Oct. 18.

Now all but the biggest teams, Real Madrid and Barcelona, are slashing wages by as much as 25 percent to stay in business and some are turning to investment funds to finance signings, Tebas said.

“For many clubs it’s the only way to get access to credit,” Tebas said in an interview. “It reflects the situation of the country.”

After seeking creditor protection, Real Zaragoza in August financed “almost all” of the fee to sign Benfica goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez for 8.6 million euros through an investment fund, team spokesman Ruben Ramos said.

In Portugal, Sporting had a net loss of 44 million euros for the year through June, when it sold shares in transfer rights of seven players to Quality Sports, according to the team’s annual report published Sept. 14. It didn’t disclose the fee it charged the fund.

The Premier League banned third-party ownership of transfer rights after it complicated striker Carlos Tevez’s move to Manchester United. It’s frowned on by many U.K. supporters, said Tom Cannon, a professor at England’s Liverpool University who has researched soccer finance.

“It’s still very important for fans: the notion that players belong to the team and not to a hedge fund,” Cannon said. “It’s not wanted and not welcome.”

The condition of Bakassi Peninsula indigenes from Cross River State is sorrowful, pitiful, disgraceful and unbelievable because of the injury cruelly inflicted on them by the Mafia Judgement of the International Court of Justice and carelessly sealed by the arbitrarily use of power of the then Nigerian government. It is really pathetic and tragic to know that perhaps they have been awfully without any iota of feelings and considerations condemned irredeemably into the hands of the wicked Cameroonian army through this international known political kangaroo judgement aided by the former president of Nigeria General Olusegun Obasanjo in his rascality of power with a stroke of pen. I am profoundly in sorrow and in pity with Bakassi and their unborn generations over the injustice meted to them just simply because they are a vulnerable minority. My compassion is unreservedly extended to their ancestors who must also be in a state of bewilderment over their citizenships in the land of the dead in Bakassi Peninsula.

In nutshell Bakassi Peninsula is located at the extreme eastern end of the Gulf of Guinea and had been in dispute between Nigeria and Cameroun until 10th of October 2002 when the International Court of Justice unjustly ruled that Nigeria should hand the disputed area to Cameroun.

Because of the interest of these few political cabals of the world in the oil rich Bakassi Peninsula and because they know how to foment trouble in Africa so that their machine gun factories could boom they hid under the shadow of Cameroon and gave one of the most cruel judgements ever known by history against a country. It was an open secret to those that followed this issue then that France was solidly behind Cameroon urging them to press harder for they were firmly supported in the wake of war or in court against Nigeria. With this knowledge at the back of the mind of our legal team and having seen the panel of justice made up more of the French people should have raised an objection knowing where their interests were, even though that it might not have made any or much difference in the judgement whether the Italians or Germans etc. replaced the French judges because they are all the same monsters in the same train and evil. The international conspiracy that gave Cameroon Bakassi Peninsula was a rape, wicked and a judicial murder of Bakassi children by the so-called International Court of Justice. The judgement was condemned both locally and internationally by those that have got conscience. A leading member of the Nigeria’s legal team and a former Nigerian Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Chief Richard Akinjide condemned the judgment by saying that “This judgment is a complete fraud, 50% international law and 50% international politics, blatantly biased, unfair and a total disaster.”

How did Obasanjo treat what had been tagged a national disaster? Constitutionally the national assembly was supposed to ratify the Green Tree Treaty that gave Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon before the execution but Obasanjo without regard to the constitution, without regard to the feelings and the future of the Bakassi people hurriedly ceded Bakassi to Cameroun in a suspicious manner. Such abuse of power was an impeachable offence which many social commentators wanted the senators to enforce against Obasanjo. However, according to unconfirmed source Obasanjo was dreaded and feared and had intimidated the senators to submission with his vindictive nature and lawlessness of his ruling era, therefore no senator had had the liver to move such motion in this regard against him because those that had tried to impeach him for his other constitutional flaws and failed were doomed. But as soon as Obasanjo transferred power to late president Umaru Musa Yaradua on 29.04.2007, approximately six months later the Nigerian senate passed a resolution declaring that the withdrawal of Nigeria from the Bakassi Peninsula was illegal citing the Green Tree Agreement that ceded Bakassi to Cameroon as against the 1999 constitution section 12(1) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The House of Assembly’s sudden wake to defend the oath of office they took to uphold the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria had excited the Bakassi indigenes and gave them hope of not living behind their treasured identities and culture. However, this hope seems to have been finally extinguished again since the senators have officially gone to bed like the way they woke up and the executive arm of government equally still insensitive to the historical damage of the Bakassi people and thus adamant on the objection that had been earlier raised by the sleeping senate.

We will always be remembered for two things, the problems we solved and the ones we created. There is no perfect leader and there is no absolutely bad leader, therefore one amongst the good deeds I remember Obasanjo for in Nigeria was the decentralization of the Nigerian military. Some actions of northerners in discrediting and distracting President Good Luck Jonathan from giving Nigerians the dividend of democracy and their threat of wars now show that perhaps if the Nigerian military structure was still the way it had been before Obasanjo came possibly President Goodluck Jonathan would have been overthrown through a military coup. On the other side of the coin, it should be recalled that it was under Obasanjo that Nigeria witnessed the kidnapping of a seating Governor and nothing happened. It was equally under him that Nigeria witnessed the highest number of induced impeachments in the Senate and House of Reps in the annals of the country’s history. How about a situation where seven members of the State House of Assembly succeeded in impeaching a seating Governor? Therefore, when he hastily ceded Bakassi people to Cameroun without following due process so many people fumed. A renowned human right crusader late Gani Fawehinmi had asked Obasanjo that “If Bakassi was in Ogun State where you come from, would you have ceded it to a foreign country?"

Please General Obasanjo was it not the same International Court of Justice that ruled the case between Israel and Palestine over East Jerusalem and Gaza? Are the Israelis still not occupying Palestinian territory with Britain, France and USA as their staunch supporters? How about the judgment between Britain and Argentina over Falkland Island? Are the British people still not occupying the Falkland Island? How about the judgement between USA and Cuba over Guantanamo Bay by the same International Court of Justice? Is the USA still not occupying the Cuba territory? Why was Bakassi rapidly rushed and ceded away just like that to Cameroon? Or is it that the implementation of the judgement in our own case would have been done differently because we are a third world country? How about Eritrea and Ethiopia? Ethiopia still occupy’s the Eritrean territory and nothing has happened. Ethiopia and Eritrea put together are not as rich or as powerful as Nigeria in global politics. Ironically unlike the examples cited above where the other countries occupied the territories that did not belong to them but simply because they could suppress the annex countries, Bakassi Peninsula belongs truly and historically to
Nigeria and that makes it agonizing.
I have no iota of doubt in my mind that if Obasanjo was a native of Bakassi and Nigeria got this kind of high international judicial robbery in the name of judgement, and as a man at the most powerful position in Africa (the president of Nigeria) then, that he would definitely not have given Bakassi away the way he did. Expectedly, he would have used his position to exhaust every available channels open like referendum including war to fight and maintain his Nigerian status, though I do not subscribe to war in any form.






Professor Wole Soyinka asked Obasanjo the same question late Gani Fawehinmi had asked as stated above and until Obasanjo proffers a reasonable and satisfactory answer to the question, his judgement that led to his action of ceding Bakassi arbitrarily should be condemned.
The Bakassi people look like conquered people because they have been emotionally weakened and traumatised. According to some Bakassi indigenes their history and culture had been sold away and they are forced to quickly leave Bakassi so that some pocket of some highly privileged Nigerians could swell. The citizens of Bakassi have been put in sorrow and pain by the Nigerian government. Immediately their culture, history and properties were forcefully handed over to Cameroun amidst tears of helplessness in defeat they were painfully ordered by the federal government to decide whether to be Cameroonians or Nigerians as if it was as easy as eating ‘Amala’. Even those that picked courage to come to Nigeria with tears for re-establishment as promised by the federal government have been abandoned. They have been made to be refugees living in misery, without housing, land to crop, school, clinic, drinkable water or food to eat. What an agony! The spirits of Bakassi Peninsula ancestors in Cameroon are crying, the true sons and daughters of Bakassi Peninsula are crying and there has never been peace where there is no justice, therefore show true love and genuine concern to the plight of Bakassi indigenes for Nigeria to have peace.

I appeal to all progressive minded Nigerians and friends of Cross River State to please support the Bakassi people morally, legally and otherwise to address the injustice that they have been subjected to in their bid not to lose their root. Their efforts to attract the attention of the Senate and “Aso Rock” to see if there is still any legal loophole left for a redress since the Green Tree Treaty was not ratified before execution should equally be supported. Let the process of Nigeria’s healing start now with Bakassi Peninsula indigenes. They are also seeking the legal attention of the UN to give them room for a referendum of deciding their future. The federal government should please support them seriously and honestly towards this direction because a plebiscite seems to be another legal way that looks realisable to upturn this international legalised fraud. They must also be protected against the constant brutal attack of the Cameroonian army. Furthermore, the federal government must be reasonable and live up to its responsibilities and address the sorry living state of the people as refugees in their country to avoid careless deaths and increase of crime in Cross River and its neighbouring states. The children of the Bakassi people must be given a better opportunity of going to school unlike what is obtainable now because education is the highest gift you could give to any child. Importantly, the spirits of the Bakassi ancestors in the land of the dead in Cameroon are similarly crying and wailing. They are also protesting because they are not Cameroonians and do not know how they could explain that while they were alive that they were Nigerians and now that they are dead that they are Cameroonians. Their condemnation to an irredeemable discrimination and wailing in the spirit world in Cameroun equally needs to be addressed, therefore bestow them some degree of recognition and give them mass reburial in Nigeria’s land if the judgement on Bakassi stands as it is now for our culture respects the dead. I cannot imagine myself buried in Austria or in any other foreign land under any guise. Please tell me what I should be doing with people like Hitler in the spirit world?

The spirits of the Bakassi ancestors MUST PLEASE be reburied in Nigeria because they are angry and tired to answer homeless spirits or roaming visitors in Bakassi. Anything contrarily to this I advocate that any Nigerian that has played any role to the distress of Bakassi indigenes including 1966-1970, please when they die they should not be buried in Nigeria but in Ethiopia, Somalia or Niger Republic where their spirits will be visitors as well and troubled like the spirits of the Bakassi ancestors that are presumed to be in sorrow and discriminated in the land of the dead in Cameroon for whatever you sow you must surely reap.
