Johannesburg - The British monarchy must fall and be consigned to the dustbin of history, the Economic Freedom Fighters said on Friday.

The party is boycotting the 62nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, saying it will not be part of the multi-party parliamentary delegation to the conference to be held from December 11-17 in London.

"The Commonwealth is an association convened by the British [monarchy] which instead of taking full responsibility for its crimes of genocide, colonisation and anti-black racism, continues to express influence over its former colonies through this institution," the party said in a statement.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference brings together more than 50 states, most of whom are former territories of the former British Empire, including several African countries, amongst them South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria, Seychelles and Zanzibar in Tanzania.

The EFF said it rejects head of the British monarchy Queen Elizabeth because she "used to be our coloniser".



"The British monarchy must not enjoy the world's recognition [given] the pain it has caused across the world through the brutal crime of colonisation."

"The British monarchy should be ashamed of itself, or even of still existing [given] the crimes against humanity it has caused as an institution," EFF said.



It accused the Commonwealth of protecting white colonial and racist interests after it suspended Zimbabwe's participation in 2002 over its land reform programme that took away land from white farmers.

The EFF said the British monarchy must be consigned to the "dustbin of history that contains Hitler, Idi Amin, [Mobutu Sese Seko], Mussolini, the French monarchy, King Leopold and apartheid".

The party has made a call to other African countries that are former colonies of the British to reject the monarchy "by refusing to be convened by it in the Commonwealth".

What would he have said??! What excuse could he have given to cover his excesses, or bad behaviour? At least, he has chosen not to insult the intelligence of the public, by not blaming some extra-terrestrial forces that made him do it. Without reading this book, I can already tell its content. Maje would be blamed as the devil's incarnate while Toke would be exonerated from all blames.


Hmmm...the truth is, women always play the victim. I will not believe an iota of this nonsense story until I hear Maje's side cos women can be terrible sometimes. Men have the ability to withstand emotional trauma without letting the world know what they feel inside but women will spill the bean at the slightest opportunity (speaking from experience).


In as much as Maje may have done some of the listed, Toke may have directly or indirectly pushed him to...either by being verbally abusive, openly flirty with someone else or just about something she deliberately never made mention of. She may have even opined that she may not be ready to have kids just because she doesn't wanna 'spoil her shape' or because of work.

I ain't buying any of those load of crap she wrote cos can bet my left ball that Maje isn't entirely as bad as what she made him to look. It's her loss...the society may likely judge her rather than the man she intends to face-shame

Mr. Maje has chosen to take the high road and not speak disparagingly of his wife or ex-wife. he recently paid her some compliments and accolades. It's somewhere in the recent NL archives, and the surprise birthday party in her honour that he attended where they warmly embraced and kissed like they are still current lovers.
