Adam Lawrence is back at the club to coach the Under-21s.
Very good news. Hopefully the quality of football will get even better. |

They need to make sure they don’t rush him back. That is the sort of injury that can become niggling if not managed well the first time. |

Harry Amass has joined Norwich City on loan after a personally successful loan at Sheffield Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how he develops because Diego Leon has not looked too good so far (maybe 1st season settling in problems).
We currently have 3 RBs with potential in the academy should be able to get at least a squad player out of that group. |

CapitalCee: 5th place will inevitably deliver UCL football, considering that Laliga and Bundesliga have 1 team each knocked out of the UCL already, and Bilbao and Napoli are struggling.
If Carrick can get 5th place which should get us UCL, i will suggest he stays and we back him in the summer. The manner in which he does it is also Important. If he just does Jama jama and wuruwuru to the answer to get it then that is not sustainable or easily repeatable. In all our excitement we should try avoid repeating the Ole mistake. |

everton4life: Can you link me to your earlier post, let me see if it tallies with what I saw in those videos talked about him? That man is just something else. Imagine if we had him earlier this season. That 2012 champions league Chelsea defensive prowess was something else. I even watched where Holland did a tactics video on how he studied messi before the two legs and set up a way to shut him down. Omo! Not as explicit as your post but when i mentioned Carrick's coaching crew it was Holland i was talking about. Carrick with Boro was known for setting up his teams to create chances but they also conceded chances. At least that is what heard. So, this our defensive solidity is probably partly due to Holland. afrodoc2: Different meaning ? I no understand.
No vex baba I was just stressing the need for quality coaching.
I don’t know what the future holds for Carrick but his coaching crew seems to be better than the previous 2 that we had.
Baba no vex. Let’s all celebrate this change in fortunes. We deserve am. |

BlueRayDick: I don't really understand anything about all those Streaming that those youngies like ishowspeed, peller, Carter Efe , etc are doing.
I really don't know what exactly is the end game. I mean is it that they are clowning and people enjoy wathcing them clown on live or live or what?
Is it like all those TikTok live where they get gifts from fans or what?
I used to see videos of that ishowspeed boy in the past when he would be playing video games and would call some players wrong names when he gets their player card . Then I just saw those things as clowning.
I'm surprised there's been some clout around him and seems like most content creators in Nigeria take his visit to the country serious. Hahaha, You can’t understand but it is what it is. Everywhere the guy goes he pulls crowds. He went to India, Japan, Korea, South America and heaps of European countries and it’s the same type of response. |

everton4life: Na the headache of bulldozing through danfo buses that these midtable/relegation teams park that's the main koko now.
If we can do that, then I'll know we're on to something. I'm tired of beating Liverpool, Assnal, city, Chelsea only to lose/draw against west ham, Brentford, Burnley afterwards
But while people are giving credit to Carrick, I think Steve Holland deserves some flowers. That man's defensive organization skills are highly underrated.
I did some video research and saw he worked with Mourinho, Southgate and even Di Matteo in 2012, responsible for setting up that Chelsea defensive tactics against Barca in that champions league semi final.
Even if the board decides not to stick with Carrick and want to appoint a different in the future, regardless of how the season goes,(knowing how much of a loose cannon INEOS can be ), Steve Holland must be retained at all costs!! I think you are right about Holland. That is why I mentioned Carrick’s coaching staff in an earlier post. Holland is said to be a very good defensive organiser who did some good work at Chelsea and with the national team. |

patrickmuf: I know it's early days but if Carrick delivers a top 3-4 finish, he will be in contention to get the job permanently...
It will be interesting to see how he approaches the games against mid-table and bottom-placed teams. Yes. If he delivers a convincing top 3-4 finish playing good football and front foot football especially against the lower teams he will be in contention. If that happens then we can't reject him for another unproven manager like Glasner, De Zerbi etc. Only top tier managers like Enrique, Flick, Nagelsmann should be considered if Carrick does extremely well in this interim period. But like you said, the real test will come against the lower teams. Can he device a way to consistently breakdown low blocks and can he find a way to inspire the players to consistently play with the same energy and discipline against unfashionable teams. |

Lana1: FIFA needs to revise the corner kick rules because how is this even allowed? Keeper being impeded on his goal line like this makes no sense Until the rules are changed teams should exploit them too. Arsenal does not have an unfair advantage so i don't think teams should be lamenting. Don't get mad, get even. |

patrickmuf: You're right. Of course, i am right. Fletcher changed from 3-4-3 and we still got kicked out of the FA Cup. It is because he is not as good a coach as Carrick. At least not yet. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 8:52pm On Jan 25 |
patrickmuf: I am certain we would have fared a lot better. We did have the personnel especially in midfield and the wingback positions to play 3-4-3. With 3 men in the midfield, our CBs are not exposed to so much pressure. You think we would have done better with a change of formation from 3-4-3 to 4-3-3 with a poor manager who has only ever coached 3-4-3 in his life and even the 3-4-3 he can't coach it properly. He is not a good coach. Even if we had been better after a change as you say it would have been marginal, maybe enough for him to last 2-3 years here that would have been a waste. It is good he stuck to his formation and got kicked out relatively early. Anyways that is in the past. I really hope Carrick can replicate these performances and results against the small teams. Making the Champions League again might be a transfer game changer for us. |

patrickmuf: We pressed as a cohesive unit. This is about the first time I have watched us play and remain in sync as a team for the duration of a game. The 3-4-3 formation invites pressure, this is what some of us were shouting since. See how well we pressed and kept the ball in midfield because we had that one extra body... It is not only because of 3-4-3. Amorim was just not a very good coach. ETH did not play 3-4-3 and we had gaps all over the place. Carrick looks like an incredible organizer. I have not seen any defensive gaps in these 2 games. We appointed a bad manager in Amorim to replace a bad manager in ETH. No formation change could have saved either of them. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 8:27pm On Jan 25 |
patrickmuf: With 3 men in midfield, the defence is better protected but some of you don't get this...
Look how we limited Arsenal through the middle and on the wings, we had Amad and Dorgu doubling up on their wingers.
If you go back to Carrick's two games as interim manager in his first stint, you'll understand that he has it in him... He seems to be a good organizer. Now the challenge changes for the next few games. We need to show that we can break down teams that play low blocks. |
