izzou: So who's votes did Obi affect in Benue?
Atiku?
I know Obi affected Atiku, but his participation affected BAT too.
Most people voting Obi outside the SE/SS, would have easily gone for BAT. Nobody is saying Obi did not affect Tinubu, but he affected Atiku more. The SE/SS that you just glossed over is 11 states o. Atiku has potentially lost 11 states to Obi. Can you list the 11 states (or any number of states) that Tinubu has potentially lost to Obi? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 3:42pm On Jan 17, 2023 |
raumdeuter: That is a straight -11 before voting starts. Atiku wont even leave Dubai t campaign anything Out of 11 states that would most likely have gone to Atiku we now have most of them going to Obi in a landslide and people think Obi affected Tinubu more? In essence Atiku has lost the entire SE to Obi and most likely much of the SS. |

izzou: You are holding on to Ikpeazu and Enugu.
What about Wike? If Wike supports APC in Rivers, BAT wouldn't win?
Or is it Ortom or Makinde?
APC has the structure to get 25% in every state in Nigeria. I am just wondering where all these humility is coming from. So BAT is now reducing himself to 30% in Benue, so we can magnify Atiku as the winner?
Make una take am easy with the exaggeration abeg
The only reason this election became a contest with no clear frontrunner is because of Obi. With all the negative press on Tinubu, his health issues, and his close links with the failed Buhari government Atiku would have cleaned the floor with him in a straight contest between the 2 of them. |

izzou: You are looking at it from the ethnic angle. I am also saying there is a religious angle that definitely matters
For example, people of Benue that will vote LP, would have easily voted BAT instead of a Fulani.
The same would go for Plateau and parts of Kaduna.
Also, if Obi did not show up, APC selling BAT as a Southern candidate would have been easier. Governors of the G5 would easily stick with BAT if Obi didn't show up. Whatever angle you want to use, at the end of the day which of these states will Tinubu win in a straight election with Atiku? Anambra Enugu Imo Abia Ebonyi Rivers Delta Edo Bayelsa Cross River Akwa-Ibom |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 3:08pm On Jan 17, 2023 |
raumdeuter: It still affected Atiku. Since the margin would have been wider
Its like reducing a 7-2 victory to a 4-2 victory
You know without Obi, Atiku wont even need to campaign in SE as all 5 states will automatically vote him. Even in most of the SS Exactly. Atiku winning this election only means if Obi was absent it would have been a landslide victory for Atiku. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 3:07pm On Jan 17, 2023 |
izzou: Obi, coming 3rd is not the issue.
If Atiku wins, it means Obi affected BAT more than Atiku. But this logic no enter. If Atiku wins it only means he would have won with a bigger landslide without Obi. If he gets 52% in this election then maybe he would have gotten > 70% if Obi was absent. Izzou can you name the states in the SE that Tinubu would win in a straight contest between Tinubu and Atiku? After that name the states that Tinubu would win in the SS in a straight contest between Tinubu and Atiku? |

patrickmuf: Are we really up to the task or is it a case of Liverpool, Chelsea, City and Spurs not performing at optimum level? Let's not get carried away even as we appreciate the progress we have made. I remember a couple of seasons back when we finished second/third but honestly it was not because we were that good but rather a case of our rivals struggling. I'd love to see how we compete against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, City and Arsenal next season to really guage the level we have reached.
As for the talk about overhaul, we need to strenthen the team even more because at the moment, we still do not have a bench that strikes fear into any team so, yes Rangnick was right when he opined that the team needs to be overhauled. Overhaul doesn't necessarily mean we will replace the whole squad however, it depends on the nature of the team and in our case it had to do with Strengthening the core of the team across each area (Defence, Midfield and attack) as well as improving the bench. So far, we have improved the defense as well as midfield but in attack, Antony has not stepped up to the level you expect of a player that cost that much and in midfield, you feel we need another player in the mould of Eriksen or someone in between Eriksen and Casemiro like Neves to ensure there's no shortage of quality in any case of an injury or suspension. A bit different this time. Our manager has some pedigree and a style of play, and we are seeing this style of play being slowly implemented. We are not there yet but things are looking better. There is also no guarantee of titles but there is possibility in the future. |

Penguin2: Because of this year’s election, this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day has taken different dimensions with some elements trying to remind some Nigerians who killed their ancestors.
But what is most interesting is that all of these people are tagging the infamous 1966 coup as an Igbo coup as they have always done; erroneously so.
But it was this same people that would remind the Aniomas of Delta State that they are not Igbos.
So, I want to know what changed… Kaduna Nzeogwu is from Okpanam in Delta State.
Why is Kaduna Nzeogwu from Okpanam an Igbo man but Okpanam is not an Igboland, and everyone else in Okpanam are not Igbos? No the coup was an Itsekiri coup. Ifeajuna, Onwuatuegwu, Okafor, Chukwuma, Anuforo, Nwobosi are typical Itsekiri names. |

Odegaard knows how to hide in pockets and half spaces between opposition midfield and defence, and both Partey and Xhaka can play line breaking lines to his feet. They have also mastered how to isolate their wingers against full backs, and unlike us BOTH of their wingers will take on and roast any isolated full back. |

larride: If you are depressed you will know. I really dont know how to explain it but you will definitely know if you are.
Maybe doc can elaborate on possible symptoms to watch out for. Low mood. Feeling sad, empty, hopeless. Poor sleep Social withdrawal (from both family and friends) Loss of motivation to do anything and inability to maintain concentration Anhedonia (inability to enjoy activities that normally give you pleasure) Sleep disturbance Thoughts of doom and feeling suicidal. Many people will know if they are depressed but for some it is the people around them that first notice a difference in their behaviour. There are diagnostic tools used in diagnosing depression depending on the individual patient. |

ChristineC: AWB has improved in a lot of things. the easiest to note is that his first course of action is not going to ground anymore. the slide tackling is becoming a last resort, and that confirms that his positioning and game reading has taken a leap forward. I also how mentally tough he is, despite being sidelined for long, the manager even hinted at his being surplus to requirements yet he didn't complain. he put in the work off the pitch and at least the club can make decent fee even if he's sold. Fred is also in this bracket. this is also why I have concluded that Martial is a lost case.
individual player improvements is a clear evidence Ten Hag knows what he's doing. Martial’s body has betrayed him. |

ChristineC: this is a good summary, but on the other hand, the press and public especially in this day and age, is making it sound like depression is something fashionable. I was at my neice's school late last year to attend to something when I overheard a teacher asking a little boy to pick up his tab from the floor or something. the tiny-voiced boy said he couldn't, and when pressed further he said, "because I'm depressed, depression is real". I was beyond shocked. what was that about? the Japanese-looking teacher that stood with me said she was tired of taking classes. the pupils sing depression like it's some recent hit jam. the mind programming, especially in the west is something that is taken lightly. it wasn't like this just 10 years ago. Of course. I don’t like the way Depression is becoming a fad. I think because for so many years people didn’t pay enough attention to it we have probably swung to the other extreme. The thing however is that there are people who are really suffering from it and it does not show on the face. I have had some really difficult cases whereby even the doctor is getting stressed lol. And these are people who are not faddists and don’t want to even publicise their depression. I don’t know why it has gotten so bad in recent years. Maybe it is all these vaccines, maybe it is all this industrial food, or all the electromagnetic waves all around us in phones and TVs etc. I DON’T KNOW, but something is going on with mental health. |

patrickmuf: You're picking on cancelation of contract and not outright discarding via sale.
Talking about contract termination, we have seen Juve terminate Higuain's contract as well as Khedira's...It's all about sitting down a player who knows he isn't going to start games and negotiating a way out either via sale or termination...If we are not selling or terminating then we can loan players out and collect good loan fees while taking their wages off our payroll for the period like Madrid did with Bale, Atletico are doing with Felix abd Chelsea with Lukaku... I am not against sale or cancellation of contract, but we should approach it logically from the point of view of lack of productivity. I just don’t like your language of blaming someone suffering Depression. It is not something you just sit up and fight through. I know several people who are incredibly successful in both business and family life, but suffer major depression. |

patrickmuf: I am speaking as a fan who is disappointed in the general performance of Sancho since he arrived Old Trafford...I am not insensitive to his personal challenges, my argument is that if it's football related then he is mentally weak. He has not gotten the stick from fans and journalists compared to Maguire. I am not saying we should not sell him cos we already have 2 players in his position who are playing better. Unless he comes back in incredible form his days here will be numbered anyway. You don’t know whether it is football related but you are already mentioning mentally weak. Like I said you obviously don’t understand mental health issues. And we also don’t know enough about this particular situation. And it is a bit insensitive when you are thinking of your customer satisfaction as a fan when he might be dealing with something that could affect him for the rest of his life. I don’t think it’s right to blame someone for developing Depression. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 10:07am On Jan 15, 2023 |
patrickmuf: Injuries are excusable...Why is Sancho depressed? If it is football related then he really shouldn't be playing football...
The fans and the management should be depressed especially when you consider how much we paid to get him...You look at Haaland and begin to imagine what would have been if Sancho hit the ground running like he did in the German Buli when he joined us...
He should pick himself up and fight for his career...See Martial playing rubbish game week after game week. This club should learn from Madrid, such players should be made to train with the reserves and sold off immediately the window is open or better still have their contracts terminated... I decided to stop criticising him when I heard he had mental health issues until I know more. I don’t whether he is depressed because of football or non-football reasons, and I am not saying he should not be sold or whatever (Rashy n Garnacho are ahead of him anyway), however piling on someone struggling with Depression is insensitive. This is different from ACL or hamstring. His quality of life as a human being post-football and safety might actually be at risk here. It is obvious you don’t know about mental health issues. Most times people suffering from it don’t know why it is happening to them, and their family n friends (like you) just want them to buckle up and fight. That’s not how it works. |

DeadPresidents: My boy working in Manchester complains that them Caribbean and Jamo boys really soft when it comes to mentality. He works at an establishment and what he won’t even count as any type of strain, the Jamo boys will spend all their time complaining about it.
I think Sancho is hella soft. He has more talent than Antony but Antony will have a better career than him if the mental part of his game isn’t worked on. It is possible. When I lived in the Caribbean mental issues abounded. Very little thing they have committed suicide or attempted suicide. It was like a sniper epidemic. I noticed it was more common amongst those with full or part Indian heritage. Very little disagreement with spouse, neighbour, or colleague and dey don guzzle the toxic cocktail. The dangerous thing about mental health is nobody around you will understand . Not your parents, children, partner, or friends. Even I the doctor will be wondering “ You have a million dollar business, loving husband/wife, beautiful children, good health. Why are you depressed? “ |
