Leyqute:The sons of our current Technical Director Darren Fletcher and ex-player RVP are both in the Man City academy. When your own senior staff and ex-players are choosing City’s academy you know water don pass garri. |
Expert17:They have the best coaches in the country and all play the same possession based football. Their youth players are tactically light years ahead which is why whenever they have just little talent they rod other teams. The way those boys dey penetrate our defence still dey give me nightmares. ![]() |
patrickmuf:Cole Palmer and James McAtee. Those guys have been showing people pepper for the past couple of years. I rate them above Delap who might not be able dominate physically the way he did in the academy. These ones are technicians. |
patrickmuf:It will take an act of God for City not to win the league next season. Apart from the senior pros and expensive signings they also have 2 extremely wicked boys from their academy that i am really interested in seeing how they integrate into that first team. Reserve defenders all over the country are throwing party now that the torture will stop. |
patrickmuf:Some of those players are untrainable so if he doesn't get the right players in it will still end in tears. It is easy to do these things when there is no opposition player pressing you in the heat of battle. However the difference in training is clear. I commented on Ole's poor training methods several times here. Too much rondo and monkey post and not enough triangles. |
adebayo201:What is your standard? If by work you mean wining the league then you are on a long thing. Not as long as Pep is there with HIS billion dollar team and his high level managerial ability. Klopp is still there. Tuchel might also get some initial support from Brokely. If by work you mean make Top 4 then it is POSSIBLE in Year 1 but definitely EXPECTED by Year 2. |
Oasis007:Nobody is laughing like a hyena. No smiles all round like they just won the lottery. No rondo sessions on repeat. |
Oh boi eh!!! Dem dey thief ogbono picture for NL again? ![]() |
MRTA7:50m pounds plus add ons is not even that cheap. |
TrebleChamp:Williams was right back in the academy but every time Laird joined him (Laird been a year younger) he was moved to LB. So by the time he got to the reserves he had probably played more LB than RB but i saw him play both quite well in the academy. Laird is the most talented of the three (Laird, Dalot, Williams) IMO but he is always breaking his run of games with fitness issues and niggling injuries. At some point it will start to significantly affect his performance. |
TrebleChamp:According to the reliable outlets Ten Hag already informed the club weeks back that he wants no part of AWB. The club has been shopping AWB around for at least a month now but no buyers at reasonable fee so far. The plan is for Dalot to stay. AWB leaves. If Laird does not impress during training they might activate the Dumfries move. Very unlikely that they would give Williams a chance at RB. |
TrebleChamp:LOL It is a risky but potentially profitable tactic. I am happy with the FDJ fee. Will see if the transfer negotiation team can make up for lost time and complete the remaining transfers at equally reasonable fees. |
patrickmuf:I heard about him in May. As well as Dumfries. I went to watch his videos when some people compared him to AWB. If you go to Redcafe the Malacia thread there is over a month old. P.S I just checked. The Malacia news was being discussed on Refcafe from April 30. It was the FDJ negotiation that was holding the other projects back. |
patrickmuf:No. I read that he was disgusted with Telles after the last game of last season and didn’t want him at all. Telles is actually not back in training yet. We have been linked to Malacia for over a month but obviously could not get him at a good price. Combination of FDJ fee being agreed and Lyon getting him at a fair price gave us the opportunity to hijack the deal. |
andrewbaba44:He was an average player in Southampton. My point is he didn’t find easy in the EPL and he found it incredibly easy in the Eredivisie. |
Trevor012: |
Ellexy:EPL and Eredivisie are not the same. They plan to make Dusan Tadic the mediocre ex-Southampton player the King of Holland next year due to the way he has been lashing the defenders over there. |
Expert17: ![]() The man who negotiated 50m for AWB and 80m for Maguire. Never in the annals of human history has so much money been handed to so clueless a soul. |
Mikechinos:No lele. I actually forgot Oyedele. He and McAllister are the only pure CDM of any quality in the youth set up. Most of the rest are 8s masquerading as 6s. |
Mikechinos:No doubt. |
Expert17:And our darling manager Sir Ole. ![]() |
Ellexy:Telles and Williams are going. Shaw has to stay. He is the safety valve in case this new guy struggles. You can’t leave LB position to Telles and a new player. ![]() |
Mikechinos:I think he is best as an 8. The same position which is the best for Levitt, Mejbri, Iqbal, Savage. He and Gore often share the CDM role and i think the team plays best when Gore breaks up the opposition play and Mainoo runs through the midfield. Before Under-18 Mainoo was a forward and Gore was an AM. In terms of CDM Garner and Galbraith are the most senior of the Academy products though we leaked goals galore when Galbraith played 6 and not 8. Then we have a 15 yr old tenacious pest called Finley McAllister. So unless Garner makes a huge jump this season our CDM solution has to be in the transfer market. |
Mikechinos:The only problem with Fernandez is lack of pace. This will cause problems for him against EPL wingers. Other than that he is very, very good. And yes he can play in midfield. Reminds me of Daley Blind. |
drisham:Hehehehe. You have to change your mindset about investment. Today it is 4k, tomorrow it might be 4m. To avoid stories that touch and salt laden tears please avoid such get rich quick schemes. |
Mikechinos:I really like him. Technically he is good at controlling tempo and playmaking. Good passing range. He is physically a bit frail though he has improved on that recently. In addition to that he is playing in a position where almost all our good Academy players are located. Which one of them will make it will depend a lot on luck, timing, good loans, good health e.t.c Garner, Levitt, Ethan Galbraith are in the sets ahead of him (Although my suspicion is that the door is about to close on Levitt and Galbraith’s career). Then you have Mejbri, Shoretire in his set who are more highly rated. Charlie Savage is also there with his wand of a left foot though his complete lack of pace would most likely limit his potential. Then you have Mainoo, Gore, Hansen-Aaroen in the set after him who are also quite well regarded. A youth player usually has only 1 or 2 years max to impress before someone from the next youth generation comes knocking for that spot. When we talk about luck and timing there is no doubt in my mind that had ETH been our manager 2 years ago Levitt for example would have made it here as at worst a squad player. However with more obviously gifted players on the queue behind him now knocking on ETH’s door his time sadly might be up. |
hensben:Hensbrain. Tell us another co.ck and bull story. ![]() |
raumdeuter:He doesn’t have temple. No church. No mosque. He is an atheist. Atheists don’t succeed in the EPL. |
TrebleChamp:I agree with you that we need 2 midfielders. However it can be FDJ and another more defensive minded midfielder (not Ndidi). Ndidi does not suit ETHs style of play. Let’s buy players that can implement the manager’s football philosophy. |
Ellexy:That news makes no sense. It is cash that Barca needs the most now not beans. |
