elampiro: It is an evil thing that on a day our problems were caused by Mkhitaryan and Lingard, you people have decided to shift the blame to Rooney who was among the few good players for us. Shame that this is the case now. Rooney is the scapegoat every time we don't get a result.
Without Valencia, Shaw, Fellaini and Rooney, we would have been completely annihilated in the first half. Every time we managed to go forward in the first half, it was something that involved Rooney. Go and watch the highlight again. He almost set up Ibra for an equaliser with a pin pointing cross to his head but Ibrahimovic headed straight at the goalkeeper. He and Valencia were the two who managed to go forward in the first half.
The Mkhitaryan I saw in that game wouldn't even make the bench if Mourinho were to be fair. I have never seen such a woeful performance, and I rated this guy high based on what I read here. Instead of talking about Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Pogba, Blind and even Bailly, you people put the blame on one of those who ensured we were not humiliated.
Rooney is the reason why crude oil price collapsed from $140 per barrel to $40 in the international market. This is my main point. This match's problems started from 1) Mourinho being over cautious and selecting the wrong wide men 2) Those wide men Mkhi and Lingard not being able to control a first time ball or even pass to their team mates. Mkhi in particular looked small, afraid and jittery. 3) When things got difficult in midfield Fellaini of little talent stood up like a man while the more talented Pogba ambled around like a man still doing his warm ups....the boy is naturally lazy, he is loftus cheek's mentor 4)Blind and Bailly were not at their best also and even their passing was off. 5) Then you can talk of Rooney or Zlatan or the other guys. Rooney is a problem in this team generally but he is not the only problem AND in this particular match the problems were Mourinho, Mkhi,Lingard and Pogba Blaming Rooney first every time something goes wrong is a very lazy and simplistic way of addressing the problem |

But this was how Coogar convinced most people here to reduce all United's problems to a Rooney issue. There were other problems in view yesterday right from the fecal display of both Lingard and Mkhi to the pathetic display of the world's most expensive player. Then we saw a few cracks in our CB partnership. The only positions were we are very good and consistent are GK and FB. |

Ibime: Mehn Brook tried abeg. There's nothing you can do when your eye socket is fractured and you can't see. The amount of punches he took in that 5th round alone without flinching shows that he has the concrete jaw required to fight GGG. GGG has been dropping even light heavyweights in training so for a welterweight to stand that punishment only shows his calibre. Other fighters woulda dropped from just one of those punches, especially that pùssy Amir Khan who keeps ducking Brook.
IMO Brook showed enough in that fight to earn a rematch. Rematch ke? u wan kill am? Hmmm e be like say u owe d guy money wey u no wan pay am. GGG na devil incarnate. Like A40 said i see only Andre Ward troubling him. |

Nihilist: Kell Brook took the fight that the World Champion ran away from, literally dashing his title away for free.
That already makes him 'a winner'. Well every boxer is always one lucky/unlucky punch away from a defeat but beating Golovkin would be difficult for any man right now. Only good thing is that he is 34 and theoretically should be passing his peak. His economical knock outs are scary. There was a fight in which he barely moved his arms and knocked the guy out, the opponent on waking up was blinking his eyes like he had dust in them |

raumdeuter: The best teams are those that limit the number of shots they are exposed to which is the reason why the midfield is the most important part of any team.
If you have Maldini and Nesta at their peak and teams are averaging 10 shots per game against them, they would still concede in bucketloads.
Proactive midfielders and even defenders move up to break up potential attacks before they develop because at the edge of your box if opponents are settled and shooting, then your chance is less than 50-50.
A random deflection, a rebound, an outstanding shot, a genius move would always get a goal Not if you had Baresi and Bergomi lol. However i get your premise, back to wall defending rarely works over a long period of time. Great defending starts from midfield and in some cases attack sef. Having said this Ivanovic was especially crappy last season at an individual level which went beyond lack of protection from the midfield. |

Kante's ball carrying ability is obvious to anyone watching and he applied it many times last season also. He is best used in that position in my opinion and i believe as the season continues we will see more of that. |

raumdeuter: 2 coaches whom Kante have worked with Ranieiri and Deschamps played Kante as their main marker
Conte has adopted the same yet we believe Kante is best in a position 3 coaches have never played him?
"The Teams:
Antonio Conte’s first Chelsea team was full of power, he played a 4-1-4-1 formation with Nemanja Matic and Oscar ahead of new signing Ngolo Kante. There was no place for Cesc Fabregas in the team. The front three for Chelsea was the expected front three with Eden Hazard and Willian flanking Diego Costa. Chelsea’s back five was the same despite the fact they played poorly towards the end of last year." http://readwestham.com/2016/08/16/chelsea-2-1-west-ham-tactical-analysis/
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cp-iizXXYAE5Pse.jpg Conte is playing Matic in a more advanced role than Kante, and you think that makes sense? Coaches too make mistakes. |

Notice i have not explicitly supported Matic. In my opinion Matic and Oscar are both not good enough for the roles expected of them. However i am of the opinion that playing Kante in the ultra-defensive role is using him at 60% capacity. Nobody should be shocked here if Mikes gets back to the starting line up on his return from Rio |

Kante-Pogba Matuidi who was the runner here? Obviously not Kante It is about options and the French coach was a confused man anyway as we saw in the final where he used Pogba in a holding role. Out of that 3 obviously Kante will hold cos KANTE CAN DO ALL THIS THROUGH CHRIST THAT STRENGTHENS HIM . I have not said Kante can not hold but based on the options available to Chelsea i think he is better utilized in a running, to n fro role while somebody sits behind to protect the defence. This will then give the full backs freedom to play in more advanced positions. |

Nihilist: If we judge based on Leicester and the Euros, Kante is the one who sits back, wining the ball and laying it off to Drinkwater.
Leicester used to/and still do sit very deep and only press in their half, so I'm quite surprised you think Kante was pressing high up the pitch. I am not really talking about what he did for Leicester but what my eyes tell me are his best assets. Energy, Pace, stamina for days, aggression, decent technique, great on the ball runs e.t.c He will be underutilized just marking and shielding the defense. His runs with the ball from deep would prove useful to his team especially in order to make quick transitions and launching counter attacks, you cant have your main midfielder marker doing that IMO. Fabregas is so creative that the onus is on Conte to find a way of fielding him. Playing these other guys will only guarantee Chelsea a top 6 finish but to go to the next level you need someone to enable your strikers thrive.....and that is Fab. |
