Why is it that it is on weekends, enviromental sanitation days and public holidays that markets get 'burned' in Lagos?

I disagree with you in this though. A lot of the tech companies have outperformed expectations based on their earning reports even in a pandemic situation. I do not know which news you guys are reading.

It was mostly airlines, resorts, energy sectors that underperformed.
Bros pipe down na. We are talking about this year grin

Just planning and foresight

I am sure their business analysts and financial planners are the very best
I wouldn't say just o, because the depth of your foresight is based in information you have been able to gather and how you can interprete that information. But its worth emulating. Bezos said that any business decision Amazon implements has been decided three qurters before that time.

Yea. On point. Like Apple, its cash flow from services has been increasing because they have realized that depending on Iphone sales is not enough. Amazon just bought MGM to support its prime. Sometimes i wonder how one can replicate the vision these companies exhibit in one's life

I think you should be talking about shifting their investments to safer grounds like idex, sndl, bynd which are primed for take off anyway.

But yea AMC will make a lot of millionaires. The hedgies are definitely cooked.

Everybody keeps asking where the hedgies will get the quadrillions that might be needed to cover the cost of shares @ over 100k - 500k per, my answer is they should have thought of that first before trying to short a company into bankruptcy.
In case you dint know, hedge funds are also chopping with retail traders. All those guys are tracking activities on Redditt. Bank of America even gives its clients a list of stocks to watch out for based on fillers from WallStreetBets. There are algos that can pick up sentiments and mentions of atocks which allows them position before the retail calvary comes. So i laugh when you guys say hedge funds are cooked. They would cover their shorts, pump more money to drive share prices up, sell and recoup losses. They are called 'hedge' funds for a reason.

Besides how long can 'retail' traders sustain the mometum?

They underperformed probably due to the fact that they were overpriced their valuations didn't make sense and the optimism stopped. Anyway they are still good companies
They were overpriced. Secondly as the economy is opening, the market is broadening as money is flowing to other sectors. That's why despite very good earnings last quarter, their share prices still dropped. Only Facebook and Google have done relatively well this year. But its a good opportunity for bargain hunters

I agree that it's high. But if you check the individual holdings that make up the VOO, bulk of it are Apple, Microsoft, Google, Visa, Mastercard, Amazon, Adobe, Netflix, Disney e.t.c

They have about 500 stocks but the above tech stocks must have pushed their value up this 2021. Also I heavily entered this position in March/April 2020 when everything was on sale. So my returns are not exactly surprising.
Thats why i was asking if it was not high considering that the tech stocks have largely underperformed this year. Index is up by 11-12% so may still be feasible, though i think 20-25% is okay this year.

Not raising capital, more like conversion of his holdings to a GDR that is denominated in dollars.

Dangote Refinery will raise capital or he will sell part of his holdings, but this will be a wholesale transaction and not retail. Probably minimum Investment of $5 million
Ok.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by afroxyz: 6:31pm On May 29, 2021
Yeah. But i was considering the capital he would be able to raise from GDR as against an IPO or even direct listing

Your points are valid, but it's not stress as you think. If i need 50k naira right now, all i have to do is sell 100 USD. This was something I bought at 420 or so. Besides my USD is also not lying idle. Of course I may be biased with my advice because i earn 90% of my income in USD, but trust me even I earned naira, this is still what I would do.

And about the 0.001%, na savings account be that na. Even naira savings account won't give you more than 5% per annum, which is crap considering devaluation.

Now there are a lot of good USD instruments, but even if all you do is dump your money in VOO. You will make around 8% averagely asides dividends. With this knowledge, except naira will give you 35%, pull out your money asap.

Luckily I've done 38% on VOO this year, far above my projection of 8%.
Dont u think 38% is high, consodering the fact that the tarhet for S&P 500 is 4500 basis points?

Dangote converting 60% of his wealth to dollars.

I think he will ask his Investment advisers to issue a GDR for his shares in Dangote cement, Dangote Sugar, Dangote Refinery etc. These GDRs are denominated in dollars and can be traded in London Stock Exchange or anywhere.

Some Nigeria Shareholders who bought the GDR of GTB are earning their dividends in dollars.

The underlying asset of each GDR is equivalent to 10 shares.

The value of the GDRs will then be used to calculate his networth.
But he has been working on an IPO for some time. If i may ask do you think this a better alternative considering the fact that it wont be open like a public listing?

Toyota advertises on Radio NL, Toyota vehicles are now stolen on a massive scale..... Do we blame Radio NL?..... huh

NB : I fully understand your point, but the devil is in the detail.............
Let be honest. The radio stations are only interested in their money. Nothing else. While investors should do their DD, the radio stations should also not allow such schemes to use their platform. There is insecurity in Nigeria, but have u heard them advertising guns for sale?. You cant hear about Ponzis from reputable platforms because those ones also have a name to protect.

He’s right on this one. Since the seller determines whatever price they want in the first place, why not add ur N100 or whatever charges u want to ur price instead of asking for extra. Nigerians can overdo. It’s assumed u are already in profit before deciding to sell. Why being extra greedy?
But can u really tell someone a price he has to sell? Its just like going to the market and telling the stall owner what price he has to sell. The only responsibility you have is finding the best deal for ur self. Like i said u can factor it in as opportunity cost. Security is also another factor to consider. Perhaps he can go to the numerous agents in WhatsApp and telegram selling cheap coins. If you are targeting a gain of say 10k or 100k, whats N100 when you know u can atill add that cost when you want to sell that coin. It is annoying but if you factor in that cost in your trades, it would not make a big deal

Advert placed on a radio station, is simply an invitation to treat......

The radio station cannot be held liable.... It's simply an advert/promotion slot.......
By collecting money from these fraudsters, they are aiding and abetting them. If the scammers dont need the platform, they wont pay radio stations. They know that its through radio they can reach their audience. So why not cut them off from potential victims by refusing their adverts?

They want to make money from advertisement.
So they should give audience to scammers and thieves. But if someone talks about Buhari they are quick to shut the person out. Well done

They decide their price not binance
I see no reason why they'd decide to sell at a price that suits them and still add additional price, for what?

Most of them use kuda bank that gives 55 free transfers per month and binance doesn't charge for p2p transaction

Are you one of themhuh
I'm not one of them. But you can either adjust or keep complaining. Its just like saying why Aboki is not selling dollar at official rate

Whether we agree with Musk or not isn't the point. The point is that factors like environmental impact, speed of transactions, or network security could cause people to eventually agree upon a different cryptocurrency as a better store of value.

While we’re searching the dip, and buying the dip, let’s look out for the most technologically-advanced cryptocurrencies with the most value-additive applications. That’s how to make a gain out of this crash and new coins crisis.

Take this strongly as a financial advise
40% of Betece mined is done using renewables. Betece mining has less carbon emissions than banks. Leave that enviromentaL stuff. You want to take the words of someone that sells carbon credits and solar batteries.

Alot of Nigerians drive pleasure in exploiting thier fellow brothers/sisters while cursing the elites for same treatment. If not, I see no reason why a person will even be selling digital dollar at almost #500 naira while physical can be gotten for 470-480.

If I had excess BUSD I would have continually crashed thier rates cheesy
I wpuld not call it exploitation but business. They are also hedging against the further fall of the naira. You should factor in opportunity cost when making trades.

A retired middle class man made sure his working class son paid rent to him for the 2 bedroom apartment he lived at Surulere Lagos

He said he doesn't need allowance from his son, but the son should pay rents for the space he occupied.

6 years after working the young man wanted to get married and he told his father that he would be moving out to get a bigger accommodation because of pressure from his girlfriend

The father objected to his request, that he must have his own property before moving out to rent a place.

The father said he didnt need his rent, he wanted him to be financially independent and responsible.

He had used the rent paid by him over the past 6 years to buy 2 plots of land for him at a commercially viable area of Ikorodu. The balance of 600k was in a money market fund for him to use whenever he was interested in developing the property.

That was how the young man cancelled the idea of renting a bigger apartment that would have costed him well over N1 million. Used the money and the 600k rent saved by his father to start building his own property.

4 years after marriage he is still a tenant in one of his father's houses.

I asked why he has not moved out but only upgraded from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom apartment, he said maybe after building 4 houses. You know I am the only one in Nigeria, I need to be closer to Baba we lost our mother when I was in the University. This is the time for me and the grandchildren to bond with their grandpa.
May God give us the vision to leave a legacy for our children. May God grant our children the understanding to run with the vision.

Traders and investors are both important. It is like asking the sun and moon which is more important. Both compliment each other.

Without traders there wont be liquidity. Even investors would not be able to take position if the price of a coin does not fall to their level. Yrading is what makes it happen.

Some do not have the patience and stomach to hodl. Some would still sleep well if their portfolio is down 70%. The key thing is knowing which one suits you and stick to it. Make una leave traders abeg. Ps: I'm an investor

Trading Approach Update.

The market is uncertain now. I expect us to go near 35K on Bitcoin and maybe retrace from there. That's the point of contention right now.

If we don't retrace from those levels, then we will be completely Bullish again and fly.

In these uncertain markets, there are 2 types of trading you can take.

1. Spot Buying Scalps for 2-3% daily.
2. Accumulating Quality Coins by looking at their BTC chart and leaving a good room for Stop Loss. Look for a cross against long term trendline resistance and Take Profits at horizontal resistance.

These are the 2 kinds of trades you should be doing in current environment.
I subscribe to the second one
