Family › Re: Why Children Of Strict Parents Turn Out To Be Worse by AgainstIslam: 4:22pm On May 25, 2020 |
LordKO: Don't mistake strict parents for oppressive parents - offspring of the former always turns out well, especially when the offspring isn't innately insane.
Strict parents do train their offspring to exercise their liberty and live life within the confines of decorum. While oppressive parents do train their offspring to live life within the confine of their self-interest wishes, thereby denying them liberty and, by extension, makes them disingenuous.
Pseudo/wannabe libertarian parents, on the other hand, usually turn out to breed crass and expedient offspring, because in the cause of forming woke they allow their offspring to live life and exercise their liberty on the periphery of decorum.
Strict parents are literally the true libertarians - strict parents are akin to conscientious parents. This right here is one of the finest comments on this topic. You just said everything in my mind regarding her insinuations. Wish I could like it 1000 times. |

Health › Re: COVID-19 Appears To Have Taken Different Pathway In Africa, Says WHO by AgainstIslam: 11:49am On May 25, 2020 |
I have always said that our government likes to copy the white hook line and sinker without trying to see if there can be a different local way of handling things peculiar to our own system and environment.
I have always been against the total lockdown of the economy here in Nigeria because the virus thrives in temperate region more than it does in tropical region. In addition, it has symptoms similar to the common flu which kills thousands yearly in the western world but we easily survive it here.
Another thing there been hiding is that about 70% of those who died from covid-19 are obese which is a common health challenge in the west.
From these observations, I concluded that we shouldn't copy the western style of total lockdown but rather just allow every activities to go on while we observe the basic social distance and hygiene rule but many people disagreed with me. |

Health › Corona Virus: US To Halt Funding WHO Says Trump by AgainstIslam(op): 7:58am On Apr 15, 2020 |
US President Donald Trump says he has instructed his administration to halt funding to the World Health Organization (WHO). He said the WHO had "failed in its basic duty" in its response to the coronavirus outbreak. He accused the UN body of mismanaging and covering up the spread of the virus after it emerged in China, and said it must be held accountable. Mr Trump has previously accused the WHO of being biased towards China. The US president has himself come under criticism at home over his handling of the outbreak. "I am directing my administration to halt funding while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization's role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus," Mr Trump told a news conference at the White House. "The WHO failed in its basic duty and it must be held accountable," he added. Reacting to Mr Trump's remarks, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said now was "not the time" to be cutting resources for the WHO. The US is the WHO's biggest single funder, providing $400m (£316m) last year - just under 15% of its total budget. China's contribution in 2018-19 was almost $76m in assessed contributions and about $10m in voluntary funding, according to the WHO website. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52289056 |
