i could also say that's a T-72,who could say its not !
I have also asked him to prove its a T-90....or he should stop feeding people with rebels propaganda that is not confirmed by any reliable source. The guy gets to swallow anything he sees on internet and cares less about valid proof. Illiterate terrorists are smarter than him.

This is old news.
It's actually no news, it's propaganda not news. There is no proof that the tank in that video is a T-90 tanks, the image so far away and clouded view, nobody can identify that as a T-90, it could equally be T-72 or T-80 tank.

There is no official and reliable confirmation of any T-90 destroyed in any war.

Anyways, Abrams tank, Merkava tank, and Challenger tanks have all been destroyed at one time or the other, and hey the mighty British Challenger tank was destroyed by a mere RPG not even an ATGM !!!

Stop misleading people with Syrian rebels' propaganda that cannot be proved.

Shorta has been abandoned in more recent T-90 builds - its practically useless.

Russia has accepted that the T90 is obsolete after it got thrashed in the Thai MBT trials by both the Chinese and Ukranian offerings.

Hence plans to upgrade all of them to T90AM/SM(export designation)
Same way the original versions of Abrams, Markerva, and Challenger tanks are need upgrade like T-90, that does not make them obsolete, they remain 3rd generation tanks, but after 25 years they are obsolescent....meaning becoming obsolete gradually, but not yet obsolete.

T-90 MS meets the latest tech standards worldwide, western upgrades are better only in having full composite armour while T-90 includes new tech ERA armour.

Chinese and Ukrainian new tanks have seen no war to test them except in manufacurers laboratory tests. Customers are complaining about Chinese MBT 2000 mechanical reliability. All those demo shows about weapons performance are not real war to prove whose equipment is better. No country's in the world has had it's tanks tested in battle like Russian tanks, the tanks that face missiles in real war are the real battle tested tanks, all other tanks are only good so far, in theory, so put them into practical battle fields of real war so we can judge their performance against anti-tank missiles fired by hidden and intelligent enemies, not demo shows or laboratory experiments.

I agree that is a drunken speech but if you were clever enough you could have realised that I have only twisted it to reciprocate agaigust's stu.pid claims that Rooivalk is only rebel worthy machine. That will mean all equipments in Nigerias military arsernal is as well rebel worthy since it has never used against any conventional military.
Nope, Nigerian military uses lots of equipment battle tested worldwide in conventional country vs country wars for over 30 years in over 10 wars.

Mi-35 Hind, T-72 tank, Cobra APC, Bofors artillery, M56 artillery, Palmaria artillery, Gazelle helicopters, VBL APC, F-7 jets, etc have been used in dozens of war all over the world, by the militaries of Russia, Iran, Iraq, Georgia, India, Serbia, France, Ethiopia, Eritrea, etc. Our equipment are battle tested in the worlds biggest nation vs nation wars.....unlike Rooivalk that can only fight local rebels thag have zero air defences....rebel worthy Rooivalk, $40 million anti-rebel helicopter

Panzerfaust:
Glorified T-72.
Wrong.

T-90 has lots of 'impenetrable' composite armour and anti-missile self defence systems, plus highly sophisticated computerized combat management systems, all weather/day/night fighting systems and superb communications/navigation technology.

Difference between $4.5 million price and $1.5 million price tags. Superior armour, superior self protection electronic countermeasures, superior overall operating systems.

New helmet for Nigerian army? Camo helmet to hide your head a bit when it sticks out of a trench as soldier tries to maintain situational awareness.

Also, the green woodland camo is now likely new standard across NA,NN, NAF, as the air force chief now wears it. Nigeria may have 3 universal comos, one for jungle, one for desert, one for all terrain. Urban camo is best at grey color like USA national guard who are meant for urban warfare or homeland warfare.

There is no one single perfect camo uniform for all types of battle environment/war terrain in this world, it will never work.... no colour works in snow except white.

2016 defence budget provides millions of dollars for new uniforms/kit for Nigerian armed forces.

So first of all, as usual, you have no idea what you are talking about:

In 2013, two live engagement sorties were flown, totalling 2.8 hours, during which the two helicopters fired 55 70 mm rockets. Four sorties, totalling 4.8 hours, were flown in 2014 which resulted in live engagements. During these, 355 rounds of 20 mm ammunition and 76 rockets were fired at rebel targets in the DRC. The most combat hours were flown in 2015, with 17.2 hours in six live engagement sorties,

Yet again, we see more lies from our pathelogical lair!

But if the Rooivalk is so good, why did no one else buy it? The future of Denel looked bleak when Australia was buying; Malaysia would have bought it if we had brought it fully into service, which we did not; and the Turkish opportunity was lost when Eurocopter refused to supply gearboxes

3 countries wanted to buy it, and Turkey made an offer on it.

While the UN has found the Rooivalk to be superior to you pissant obsolete flying house in the DRC!

the DRC deployment has demonstrated the Rooivalk as having significantly better availability and easier maintainability than the Mi-25s/35s in the theatre

Commander of MONUSCO sung its priases!!

General Carols Alberto Dos Santos Cruz, commander of UN forces in the DRC, said the Rooivalk “performed very well as reinforcement to the mission and would be used in future missions. They are very good aircraft – very precise with very good technology. We need this kind of firepower for our missions.”

Really augustine? Is this all you have? A pathetic nonsensical stament like this? Dude seriously if this childishness is all you have left after being humiliated on this thread for 3 years then i think my work is done here cool

When did Cuba beat us up? Which battle?

Fighting for 12 hours, killing 400 enemy and getting them to offer a cease-fire is running away?

lol, classic augubugugug straw man argument - poorly constructed and visible from space!

From this year:
Since November, waves of violence by Mai Mai militias and rebel groups including the FDLR (Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda) and the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) of Uganda, have forced large numbers of people to flee. This only adds to a cycle of misery in an area rich in minerals but lacking in law and order. The displacement has also come at a time when the Congolese army has been conducting military operations against the FDLR and other rebel groups.

Except for the UN who just gave us command of their biggest operation.

fact is this: UN saw how we operated and decided to put us in command of their biggest combat deployment. Which has clearly caused you massive butthurt
[/s]

Biafra war was high tech for the 1970s, and Africa's biggest war in history. High tech, MiG-15 jets, MiG-17 jets, Il-28 jets, frigates, corvettes, Saracen armoured vehicles, artillery howitzers, Bofors AAA, airborne rocket pods, etc.

—————————————————————————

Ethiopia Vs Eritrea war of Badme year 2000 with Su-27 flankers and MiG-29 is more advanced in war technology than your SADF vs Cuba war in Angola. Who told you South Africa fought the most advanced war in sub saharan Africa? Fool.

How many UN soldiers get killed each month in Congo? Go check how many AU soldiers died in Somalia in last month alone.

Congo is just a simple crisis like Burundi, a piece of cake, tiny local rebels carrying AK-47 around like mere armed robbers.

Random info....look out for Denel's biggest contract ever this year. Bigger than Badger. Wont say which division or who the customer is, but will be considered a type of coup, considering who the customer usually buys equipment from.
Nothing but sales of ordinary shells for use on artillery. Likely an export sale to an Asian or Arab country like UAE/Dubai, etc.

For those who dont follow the pic thread....Frumentius's pics of Rooivalk from a bit of a while back. Denel hinting at A Darter missile/Rooivalk combo. Incase one gets shot down (one has been hit by small arms in DRC) pilot and WSO are decently armed.
Rooivalk has not seen real WAR, it only saw 2 to 3 combat missions of about 7 minutes each, so in about 20 years the Rooivalk has about 20 minutes of combat history against local rebels that have no radar and no missile, not even a 35mm AAA, not even an old Shilka, not even an old SA-7 MANPAD.....rebel tested Rooivalk gringrin

Nobody will pay $40 million for that untested REBEL-WORTHY helicopter, even Brazil your friend chose Mi-35 Hind instead of the worthless Rooivalk. Now Denel wants to put A-Darter missile on a helo that has no radar to find and lock enemy aircraft. The Rooivalk pilot will be popping his eyes out of the window to search for enemy aircraft....LOL...I pray he meets an F-7 jet so he can have his obituary published the next day in a Soweto newspaper gringrin

1. Who said we lack the capability to fight alone? Only a fool fights alone when he could fight with allies.

2. Yes, 90% except for the 36 major battles fought by the SADF. We met all objectives in Angola: The demilitarization of PLAN and the withdrawal of the Cubans

3. So you are saying the fighting in Congo is over? No more combat?

Desperation at its finest.
1. Nigeria fought Biafra war alone, Niger Delta war alone, NA, NN, NAF, fought alone and won ALL these wars.....only fools think war cannot be fought alone by one nation. Everybody is not like South African military that always needs help.

SADF and SANDF have NEVER fought any war alone in 100 years and NEVER won any war fighting alone.

2. Cuba stopped beating up SADF when your country ran to United Nations for help to organize peace negotiations. After UN stopped Cuba by peace talks requested by South Africa, SADF ran away from Angola and left UNITA rebels your strong allies that saved you, to continue the war all alone against Angolan military for decades. SADF ran away from Cuba in 1991, SANDF ran away in repeat mode, away from Seleka in 2013. South Africa's military habit of cowardly running away from a war is legendary.

3. Congo DRC is now peaceful enough for political elections, M23 rebel army was the obstacle and Tanzanian army has removed it by leading UN in war. Today, Congo DRC is not seen as a serious war zone, one small attack in 6 months is not a war. Go ask AU & AMISOM the true meaning of real war in Somalia.

Nobody or organization will ever ask SANDF to lead a regularly fighting mission like Somalia crisis. AU and UN knows the poor military history of South African armed forces. El Shabbab terrorists will eat up SANDF for daily breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I hate terrorists videos , but I will use this just for the sake of example to show where there is real war in Africa. I hate seeing terrorist videos. May God punish El Shabbab in hëllfïrë, Amen !!!

1. Why does it matter if we fight alone or not? if we dont usually fight alone why would we start now?

2. Because with only 4K men we can bring 60 000 Cubans to their knees

3. And the UN was so impressed with us that they made us the commanders of the whole of MONUSCO! We are the boss of the whole of MONUSCO! We are the boss of all 60 countries!
1. Thanks for admitting that SANDF lacks capability to fight war alone.

2. About 60,000 UNITA troops led the fight against Cuba, they led SADF 4,000 men and saved them from beign overwhelmed by Cuban army. 90% of Angolan bush war was fought by UNITA rebels who remained in the fight after SADF ran away in 1991 by asking UN to help negotiate peace with Cuba. History makes us know all this, SANDF is a weakling and a fluke !!!

3. Tanzania finished off M23 war, South Africa is appointed to oversee civilian elections 2016 in Congo. Time for combat, UN calls Tanzanian army general, time for peaceful democratic elections UN calls South African army general. Why did UN not make SANDF head of its fighting brigade called FIB ? You should be ashamed of your two year studentship under Tanzania gringrin

No,no,no..... I was only looking out for a re-confirmation, i thought you had one. We'll just have to been on the look out for how 2016 progresses.

I'm not against the idea of a submarine, our officers trained in Pakistani submarines a couple years back. However, i think our priority should lie in developing capable surface combatants, then we can develop that undersea capability.

3 Corvettes and 1 Frigate should ordinarily follow our incoming 4 missile boats.
I have a second 'confirmation' about the missile fast attack crafts, the Navy released on internet the full conference papers on their ops, plans and needs as delivered by an admiral rank officer, he clearly said 4 fast attack crafts and 8 long range helicopters will be purchased as soon as money comes. I posted the pdf file last December/this January but cannot easily find it again in my overloaded folder.

1- $80 million for such an upgrade for only 15 years seems like a waste of money to me. I say we instead go for 3 new Corvettes (lionel4power sorry), the same size as our P18N class

2- I'm not a fan of submarines for the Nigerian Navy at this point. We need to work on and feel our strategic gaps. Instead let us build our ASW component, while we wait for fleet recapitalization to be completed, then we can add 3 submarines.

3 - I agree with the rest.

* Refit for the Aradu would commence soon, every other ship planned for has been completed and they are back at sea

* Point II(II), are you referring to the orders Xnurr44 talked about late last year?

*Point 6, the Navy already flies over 10 Helicopters ( 6 A109, 4 Bells and atleast 1 AW139). Additional AW139s should be the ideal purchase or AgustaWestland Lynx.
You think Xnurs deal is off? I was referring to it.

NN needs to break the jinx or we will never have a submarine, we just keep making new excuses every new government regime. Navies around the world have been using subs since 1940s world war II ancient times. Even countries like Peru and Indonesia have 6 and 3 submarines to boast of. A normal navy is to have surface and sub-surface vessels, that is a normal navy. ASW capability does not replace submarines.

If we dont get bold one day and buy a submarine even if its second hand to start with, we will never buy one.
