mens dept: So why defend Fashola or criticize GEJ when you are not in government? Yes, since you are only a Nairalander, then you cant discuss sociopolitical issues if you are an elected abi selected official of Nigeria.

I think the good people of Lagos who voted and pay fees and taxes have every right to ask a simple question that you continue to dodge. If money was released for just phase one, then what happened? If the government is no longer interested then why and what is their alternative?

Just shouting Fashola Fashola is great, is not the answer.
(developed on a modular basis at an estimated project cost of N71.64bn ($450 million) in its first phase.)

^^^^^^ it stated the cost of the first phase, basic estimate, not what was released for whatever silly first phase you are talking about...

Get hooked on reading and comprehension and quit doing follow follow like sheep.

And I have no time for the rest of your soapy GEJ cry baby post, just go and lern how to read and comprehend.

doctokwus: @agbameta,pls am not a Gej supporter and like to distance mysef from being seen as such;neither am I a Fashola fan;most esp during this his second tenure wen d man seems to av taken an overdose of sth that is definitely affecting his whole perception of governance

mens dept: You don't get it do you?

You want to buy a new BMW X5 for $50k for your wife, announce it to the world, and two years later you don't have it. Your wife then begin talk say wetin hapon, because you showed her the account and the balance then.

Now you tell her that "See O, I be bank manager?".

If you can reason then let me post this from a more intelligent grown up.
You can only buy what you are paying for directly out of your pocket, not what other people promise to buy, but did not show up with the money to buy.

Go back and work on your flawed and redundant elementary analogy.

doctokwus: Its annoying wen pple want to use different standards 2measure performance. We criticise GEJ wen he has project failings, yet some pple wud defend Fashola wen its glaring he has failed too.
D defenders of some lasg failed projects& his recent 3am deportation must realise dis unnecessary and myopic defence is not doing d man any favors.Of recent his rating has plummeted even in d eyes of we neutrals who thought he was d best 2015 cud offer;its a shame dan 2yrs to d day,he is rather being seen as an overhyped, tribalistic governor.I just wish Fashola wud make a u turn, policies wise, free himself from d claws of his ethnocentric, all grabbing godfather, and maybe, just maybe regain some bit of his goodwill;he definitely has some ideas.
1. There is a cler difference between a private project and a government project. Unlike government projects, you have little or no control over private.

2. Repainting old village landing strips is very different from building a world class international airport from scratch.

3. If you feel like comparing direct government projects they are directly responsible for Fashola against GEJ, list their started and completed projects side by side and see how flawed and pathetic you sound and how incompetent and empty GEJ is?

4. I still don't see the silly pride and sense of achievment in a whole oil producing Nation with so much wealth repainting village landing strips instead of building the next generation of airports like many coutries are doing.

5. To make matters worse, your clueles and incompetent president just burdened the people of Nigeria with Billions of Naira in debt from China just to refurbish airports when they really shoud be handing off such infrastructures to the private scetor, but we know it's all about the money, it's all about stealing every penny. How dumb and retarded

Again, if you can not compare Fashola's direct government project with GEJs started and completed projects which doesn't include repainting of village airports, please clear road...

Politics › Re: Can We Put An End To Ethnic Rivalries And Hostilities? by agbameta: 8:06pm On Aug 08, 2013
Ngwakwe: We are just waking up and are taking our destiny in our own hands to avoid our children from being subjected to second class citizens.

We lost the civil war, our region devastated and squandered, our resources depleted while our women and children were slaughtered thereby reducing our population to minority, then fictitious census data is being used to enslave us the more (the reason for the war is none of our/your business and is immaterial in 2013).

Ndigbo are just recuperating from all these loses and their children are being subjected to mockery, abuse and second class citizens while their region that was bombed to stone age is still neglected to fate when citing any major development/industry by the federal government.

All we asked for is a level playing field and equal right as citizens of federal republic of Nigeria which include that “Igbos go back to your village” be stopped and incriminated.

Please for goodness sake we have agreed to a truce and will treat every tribe with respect they deserve.
You are free to fight the civil war for the next 10 million decades if you like which is the same excuse you use to hold yourself back, but the rest of us have to move on.

Since the end of the war, we've had Ibo heads of every level of government in Nigeria and they are still occupying high level posts till this very second.

When it was revealed that Ibo people have the highest number of appointees in GEJ's admin, you people rejoiced, when in fact such appointments means nothing if they are not sending back home the bacon which your leaders since the begining of Nigeria don't know how to do or just wont do.

Level of playing field is not your problem because you have more than enough playing field.

1. You are always associated with the government in power, but you get no dividends from it.

2. You voted for GEJ/The president and nearly all your states are under his party, you are in control of nearly all the top spots in government, but you are still begging for playing field.

How much playing field do you need?

3. The honest truth is, playing field is not your problem, it's the quality of people you have as leaders and the make up of the average Ibo man and woman.

4. Your leaders are not interested in development and progress since their age long association and leadership possitions in countless adminsitrations amounts to nothing but the same migration out of Ibo land and so many social problems.

5. On the othe rhand, the average Ibo people are too distracted with exactly your kind of excuses, it's the civil war, other people's problem and never the problem of the people you vote for and appoint to run your affairs, it's always the Yoruba people who are not in anyway taking 1 kobo to run your affairs, Yoruba or Hausa people are not collecting your taxes and allocations talk less spending it, your leaders are in charge of all that and if they are not doing anything, please hold them responsible and quit blaming other people.

6. The average Ibo people are also too tribaly concerned about anything and everything, they see relate to every other Nigerian tribaly. They see other peopel's action and inaction in ethnic and tribal ways, they act very petty and pick up needless fights with everybody. You preoccupation with Yoruba people, hatred and petty ways is yet to prevent Yoruba people from moving on to better things

Again, wars and level playing field has nothing to do with your problems, you and your leaders are you own problem.
Politics › Re: Procter & Gamble To Build $250M Plant In Ogun State by agbameta: 7:12pm On Aug 08, 2013
CyberG: No industrialization should not and will not move away from Lagos. Maybe you meant extending deeper into the Yoruba SW? A place cannot be industrialized enough for even developed countries keep developing and re-developing all over again, we see it everyday. I want Lagos to take it's tourism several notches higher and continually cement its place as the business, finance and business headquarters of the country (while it remains and ultimately the Yoruba City-State when Nigeria calls it a day!). I hope the Lekki Airport, FTZ and Eko Atlantic make quick progress too! grin grin
Extending of course. We still have the LFTZ and Badagry LFT on tap, Ikorodu industrial estate is still expanding, Matori, Ilupeju, Mushin, Apapa and Ikeja industrial estates are still blasting, the printing Industry in Shomolu is getting needed attention with their own IPP, name brand hotels are changing the skyline and landscape, the food, fashion and entertainment industry are on the up n up non stop, we still have the cable cars coming, Meto rail is almost here, Eko waters with new 200 capacity boats each is almost here...

....and the state institutions stepping up to support the growth and development.

The sky is the limit for Lagos state.

For the rest of the SW, the story is almost the same starting from Ogun all the way to Osun. Osun is moving to dominate agric, Ogun and Ondo both have joint FTZ/OKFTZ with deep seaport and refineries under construction. The are at least 3 refineries on tap for the SW.

With available resouces, Ondo is under performing because of lousy leadership and poor focus.

Oyo is redefining Oluyole industrial estate and the same PG we are talking are manufacturing goods and services there.

DAWN sounds good and more robust than OODUA Investement of decades ago which is still the very active.

We are really blessed with strong and capable leaders, my only concern remains the usual FG obstruction and bad bele.

APMT to build mega port, FTZ in Badagry

APM Terminals and its consortium of partners have announced plans to develop a new mega-port project and Free Trade Zone at Badagry in Lagos State.

The first phase of the project is scheduled to open in 2016.

Also Plans for the adjoining Badagry Free Trade Zone will include a power plant, oil refinery, industrial park and warehousing and Inland Container Deport functions.

On completion, the deep-water full-service port will be one of the largest inAfricawith seven km of quay and 1,000 hectares (2,470 acres) of dedicated yard, and will include state-of the art facilities for container, bulk, liquid bulk, Ro/Ro and general cargo as well as oil and gas operations support and a barge terminal.

CEO, APM Terminals Africa-Middle East Regional, Peder Sondergaard, said that the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)LagosStateand the Federal Government have been supportive and positive, saying, “We are actively working with the Federal and State Government on the permission process.”

It would be recalled that in his keynote address at the 12th Maritime Seminar for Judges in Abuja in June this year, Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar, alluded to the proposed Badagry Port project as significant of a public-private partnership development which would help to address congestion and establish Nigeria as a maritime trading hub for West and Central Africa.

Accordingly, the Benin-Lagos Expressway is currently being upgraded to a 10-lane highway which will facilitate cargo movements to and from inland destinations in the region.

Sondergaard stated, “APM Terminals is currently one of the largest port and terminal operators in Africa, and in West Africa in particular, where APM Terminals Global Terminal Network include nine facilities in eight West African nations, including Apapa Container Terminal, and West Africa Container Terminal inOnne,Nigeria. APM Terminals Apapa, which assumed operations atLagos’ Apapa Container Terminal in 2006 is now the busiest container terminal inWest Africa, handling 600,000 TEUs in 2011 with through-put for 2012 projected to be 720,000 TEUs.

“Industry analysts have predicted that Nigerian container volume, which totaled 1.4 million TEUs in 2011, will outstrip existing port capacity by 2017, presently, about 85 percent of all Nigerian non-oil cargo passes through thePortofLagos”.

Over the next three decades, Nigerian annual container traffic is expected to grow to 10 million TEUs.

“The proposed Badagry Mega-Port project fits well into APM Terminals’ strategy of infrastructure development in targeted high-growth markets. Current new terminal and port expansion projects and investments includeMoin,Costa Rica;Callao,Peru;Santos,Brazil;Ningbo,ChinaandPoti,Georgia.

The Badagry consortium partnership is comprised of APM Terminals, Orlean Invest, the Macquarie Group, Oando PLC, the Chagoury Group and Terminal Investment Limited. Support for the project has also been expressed by the Nigerian Ports Authority, and the Governor of Lagos State.”

With 170 million people,Nigeriais the largest country inAfricaby population, and the 7th-largest worldwide. By 2050, the UN forecast thatNigeria’s population would have risen to 289 million behindIndia,China, theUSAandPakistanin global population ranking.

I see industrialization moving away from Lagos to deep inside the SW because Lagos state is at it's MAX, the only room they have left is for tourism and finance and corporate administration.
Politics › Re: Can We Put An End To Ethnic Rivalries And Hostilities? by agbameta: 4:03pm On Aug 08, 2013
To end tribalism on NL, you have to do just one thing, stop BSing and go to the root foundation and how it starts.

One region posts news, pictures and articles detailing projects in their region while folks from the other region jumps in not to offer any real, sane or legitimate comments, but to needlessly attack and denegrate. What you get next is the folks from the other region responding in kind and it's all downhil and free for all fight from there.

You can't keep pretending as if this is not going on and since most developments and progress comes from one region which is the SW and the folks from SE constantly and negatively badmouthing these developemnts which we all know has nothing to do with the projects or development, but hatred and tribalism, I don't see tribaism ending on NL anytime soon.

Also, when you start tribal and ethnic related threads which the mods sees and fails to nip in the bud but instead reacts based on their own other interests, you end up with reactions from the other region so since we know who starts these threads, ask them to curb their actions or delete the threads before it generates steam and tribal fights.

The SE mids should pppeal to their ibo people on NL to stop or curb their tribal fixations and insecurities because the other tribes are always willing and ready to respond in kind so let's stop BSing and quit faking ignorance for a change.
