I have always wanted to get the big chop but was afraid of what it will turn out to be. We good tough hair, lol that is why lil wayne rapped about it because its true. Its hard to grow my hair now too so i am scared of how it will look if i grew it naturally. A few of my natural friends like it but they wished that they put more thought on what their game plan would be if they did not work out. I know shea butter works for just about every one. Castor oil will help make your hair fuller, rosemary for shine and calming, olive oil for shine and etcetera. Oils are pretty much your best friend.I hope that helped a bit. You won't really get much reply on this section because its a lot slower than the other ones. |
Aww poor girl, lol. Why didn't she learn how to walk in heels before attending a beauty pageant ![]() |
suremic: My heart is very heavy as I write to you. I don’t know what to do or who to trust any longer. This world is not a place where you trust people, especially people close to you.If it was me, the first time would be the last time. The saying goes "once a cheater....." But you are not me and i'm sure your life is much different than mine so i suggest your look within yourself, i don"t suggest seeking a Pastor guidance because they will always say for you to stay, If you truly love him and you feel that he loves you as much ( although it is hard to justify his behavior if he did), then work it out. Also the most important thing is if have children together then you should do all your can to work it out. Broken homes makes broken people. |
If there was such thing as due process in Nigeria and of course the government created laws, sent out the military force to enforce it and created a check and balance system where people on power trips will be removed and the people that are following the rules are praised. But then i come back to reality, it will never happen in my life time and i'm only in my 20s. |
Nigeria ranks #17 in the world in HIV infection rates according to CIA world fact book estimates for 2009. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2155rank.html 1 Swaziland 25.90 2009 est. 2 Botswana 24.80 2009 est. 3 Lesotho 23.60 2009 est. 4 South Africa 17.80 2009 est. 5 Zimbabwe 14.30 2009 est. 6 Zambia 13.50 2009 est. 7 Namibia 13.10 2009 est. 8 Mozambique 11.50 2009 est. 9 Malawi 11.00 2009 est. 10 Uganda 6.50 2009 est. 11 Kenya 6.30 2009 est. 12 Tanzania 5.60 2009 est. 13 Cameroon 5.30 2009 est. 14 Gabon 5.20 2009 est. 15 Equatorial Guinea 5.00 2009 est. 16 Central African Republic 4.70 2009 est. 17 Nigeria 3.60 2009 est. |
I know a Nigerian that had her last child at 38. I think the reason that many women are having infertility problems in Nigeria is either poor health practices or previous (multiple) abortions. That is a big issue there with young college age children. Get married when you are ready like the poster above me says and if you want children that bad and you are married when you can no longer have a child, then adopt a child. Do not bring a child into a bad relationship and hurt their whole perspective on the opposite sex because you and your spouse cannot get along. |
2buff:What evidence do you have that states that AIDS did not kill people in the old days? Most people that contracted the disease in the early 70s are now dead trust me. The ones that were infected with HIV not AIDs in the 80s were lucky to receive the drug cocktail to save their lives but unfortunately are now taking their last cocktail and unless scientist create a now cocktail for new strains then they will die from the disease. Stop this conspiracy theory of engineered diseases. |
2buff:Im sorry to say that it is not detectable, i should have been more specific. These strands are tested by health practitioners in the country and they look for similarities and differences. The differences could make it hard or damn near impossible to treat that person because the drugs will not be as effective as a person that has the classic case of the disease, i hope my point was clearer now. |
I appreciate all the postings thus far. I think that the main reason for my post has been lost in all the opinions. I want to know how the Doctors in Nigeria test subjects for H.I.V. I want to know if they are using the regular test for HIV1 virus strain or if they are using a more sophisticated test that can detect these strains for the O. Many of us in the medical community know about the different strains of HIV and that people can be infected with multiple strains. Are we testing Nigerians for strains that are discovered in the Western and Central African regions? or are we still using the traditional western test? I think it is important to know these things because it will be more beneficial in providing the treatment at its earliest stage in order to reduce the deaths. By the way Nigeria has a low infection rate in at 3.5% or so. |
This topic is out of curiosity. I just want to know how HIV tests are being conducted in Nigeria. I have been in the states for a long time and here there have always been Blood Drive and people are encouraged to donate. I was told that i cannot Donate not because i have a disease but because i was born in West Africa. This topic is related to the HIV antibodies strands that are currently undetectable when the modern tests are conducted. I have been told that even though i have tested Negative to test conducted, they cannot be sure that i do not have the disease from a strand that cannot be detected. I have confirmed this with a couple of Physicians and other medical professionals. So if this is the case the HIV cases in Nigeria could be a much larger percentage than it already is, as in the whole west and central Africa. This is how avert explains it There are two types of HIV: HIV-1 and HIV-2. Both types are transmitted by intimate contact, through blood, and from mother to child, and they appear to cause clinically indistinguishable AIDS. However, it seems that HIV-2 is less easily transmitted, and the period between initial infection and illness is longer in the case of HIV-2.There is a lot more detailed explanation on the website http://www.avert.org/hiv-types.htm I want to hear from Physicians and Nurses with the knowledge, preferably Nigerian Physicians, although some Americans can contribute as well. Thank you in advance |
This is the doing of Nigerian Mentality, why do they have a child in the presence of an adult male. Do they not know of the many men who are Desecrating their girl relatives, friends children and etc. The school is responsible for this, too bad this is not America where the family can sue the mess out of them mcheww. As for that man, if he receives any other punishment besides death then Nigeria really is pathetic. Since your mother and sisters are local ashawoo i don't blame you, just know that some women have morals. I can't wish the same for your child because it would be stooping down to your level. Now go and play in traffic. Ch@nges: |
Only stupid people allow their spouses to cheat without any repercussions. I have told every guy that i was in a relationship with that if i suspect and find that they are cheating, they need to pack their things and go. I have no tolerance or respect for cheaters and abusers, point blank period. Also once a cheater, always a cheater, expect him to continue whether its with you or with another girl. |

In most professional settings, the queen's english prevails but in the streets and in gatherings, na pidgin. I just went back to Nigeria and saw it. |
Baba H:If you are not keeping your end of the bargain then you should not expect her to do the same. Some of the men will verbally and physically abuse their wives and others neglect them because they don't have to chase anymore. Women like supportive husbands and husbands like their wives to stay beautiful and in shape. Neither should stray outside of their marriage because of it because it destroy the sanctity of their relationship. There is counseling for marital problems but i know that Nigerians do not like to do that and they rather " fix it themselves ". Also you do not hit on women that can be your daughter and also know your marital status. It shows that they have no shame in their behavior and it leaves a bad impression of Nigerian men in general |
People just ignored this post, but you are right @tpia this is a big problem within Nigerian households. If we hold ourselves in such high regards, we should just practice what we preach. |
I'm all for you eating anything except a fellow human being. The man is right about discriminating on what animals we are supposed to eat. I see people here in American get upset when they see people eat dogs (mostly Koreans) but they go out to eat a hamburger (cow), bbq pork(pig) and chicken, and not to talk of the sheep, duck, lobster, shrimp, and the list goes on, Who is advocating for these other animals?people need to grow up and get a brain, just because it is not appetizing to you does not mean that another person will not treasures it. I like my dogs and cats as pets but if i was in a big earthquake and had nothing to eat, you best believe that those animals will be my dinner (cooked and seasoned of course). |
Why is there even Sharia Courts, are we not from the same country? Why is there a special provision for a group within this country. Everyone coming to this country can tell that Nigeria is like two different countries in one North and South. No other law within this country should come above the law established by the lawmakers in the country, fix that first before creating another problem with a Christian Court. |
Everything, God probably hated us women. ![]() |
10 years older or younger. The younger party will have to be a legal adult |
So sad for the surviving family members. I learn something new everyday, did not know that cassava was poisonous, wow who would have thought that our staple crop could kill us too. |
I understand the merit of her argument and yes she should sue. If Muslims are exempt from the rules, then Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhist and any other religion should be exempt as well. Do not create a preferential treatment of a group because you are afraid of backlash. They do that here in the U.S. only Muslims are allowed to do certain things, its got me thinking if Egypt or Iran would allow Christians to do the same in their countries. I hope she wins her lawsuit |
all these superficial men, yes she may be fine but you are here to talk about her talent. I'm proud of this girl and her aspirations and hope she succeeds in futbol(soccer). |
WoW, interesting story, but this just shows that Akwa Ibom state is backwards, first the witch situation, now this smh. |
@Op Yes i can marry someone i met online on certain conditions. 1. I have seen them and they look like what they described to me, pictures will not do it for me because those can be stolen. We need to video chat (skype, oovoo, whatever) 2. They did not lie about anything (age, race, career, personal information, etc, ) 3.Their background check comes out clean. (A woman can never be too safe) 4They are not a bum (self sustainability is important). 5. The exes and i can find them do not all have negative things to say about him. Everything i just listed i would do it on the person i met at a church or party or even library. Online dating is no different than meeting someone spontaneously. I believe its just another tool to better a person's prospect of finding a partner. People often go into it naive about reality and they end up broken hearted, broke from being played , or worse hurt or killed by a predator. |
I know being overweight is a serious problem in Nigeria because since my last visit there were quite a few overweight people (mostly older adults to the elderly). I have not seen obese people yet, maybe it is because i'm comparing it to the obese population in America. Maybe we should start telling Nigeria to stop eating fufu for breakfast lunch and dinner, that might cut down on it a bit. |
aloy-emeka:Like i said, she might be around men who smell who happen to smell, i know many Nigerian men who do not smell. I and many Nigerians that know do not know any smelly Nigerians just refuted her claim. |
"
, the problem with most homes is that women pretend alot in order to get the ring on, the very moment the ring is on there finger you start seeing a different person other than the angel you thought you married
, what do you expect the nigerian man to do, divorce her like men from other countries
? certainly divorce is not in our culture cos of extended family influence and our strong religious believes. so the man continues to accomodate a complete stranger in his house all his life and when he goes out for fresh air
