I salute everybody who has contributed immensely to this thread, you guys rock. This is my first time commenting on this thread but I have been following this thread since it inception.
These are my own verdicts concerning our world cup outing

* Truth be told we have lot of average and below par players in our team

* we lack the will power to upset World in this tournament
* we also lack an astute tactian who can play to each strength of the players and help instill confidence in the team.
* The Poverty factor which affects a lot of our players background and succeeding in making them choose wrong clubs to ply their trades.

Note: two things are Involved in World cup is either you win the cup or you leave a great Mark to be remembered in years to come. If you can't do these two then it means you will surely leave with pain. Thanks
The bolded summarises it all.

An average Japanese team doing it against a star studded Belgian side.

Will power!

Yesterday, I saw an average Russian team qualify at the expense of a star studded Spanish team. Simply because they had the 'will power.' they fought to the very end.

Our players have a long way to go.

Good morning folks.

Yesterday's result did not leave me the same. For the first time I went to bed and slept like a baby despite the loss that saw us crash out.

I don't know yet but e be like se the football part of me left. I don't know what to attribute this to. Either to the loss or officiating.
But I'm sure I'm no longer the same guy!

The Super Eagles still remain Nigeria's team - the result won't change that. I'll always support them. But not as fanatical as I used to be.

Thank goodness I stopped been club football fanatics after my club Chelsea won the championship league. I now watch them when I like, no longer feel the pain when they loose and no longer care about who and who are been signed by the coach and board.

I don't know if I'll do the same for our national teams. But yesterday, the football I knew and grew up to love die. I'll mourn it death and move on.

It's been a pleasure discussing this beautiful game with you guys.

I have rewatched the Ighalo miss thanks to the gifs and my keen observation is that the chance was a 50/50 chance which would have been converted by a very confident striker. A highly motivated, pumped up Musa may have scored that goal.
Ighalo should have attempted to bring the ball to his left and finished with a curler. But instead, took the easy option of shooting the ball and hoping it doesn't deflect off target by the defender.
Strikers are trained to be as composed as snippers but without confidence, you'd never hit the target.
Ighalo was right in front of the goal post! Even far to the right. How he took that angle na im I no understand. It was way too far.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by AIG07: 11:06pm On Jun 26, 2018
We later changed to 4-3-3 immediately Ighalo came in.

We need some one not holder than 45 to either take post or support Rohr as the coach. Salisu too should go
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by AIG07: 10:58pm On Jun 26, 2018
It would have been a different story Had Ighalo taken a straight shot? He must have bend it at an angle below 25 degree to have missed that goal.

Ighalo must have been poor in Mathematics. His construction is nothing short of D!

Even a 90degee shot would have resulted into a goal. Almost the same place Musa was.

HHad Ighalo come in before that penalty, am sure we won't have gotten it.

What was Rohr thinking sef?
He ought to have known that the last 10mins will be baptism of fire!

Salisu too.,. I expected him to have suggested they choke things up. But alas reverse is the case.

Etebo too hugged the ball too for so long. You all knew on whose side the ref will be and you kept waiting for the ref to blow for fowls that will never come. ..
They all forget 1-2 football. No need for All the paparazzi. Or better still keep taking the balls to their corner flags to waste time.

I have supported him all this while but he lacks the zeal when playing for Nigeria.

His attitude was so poor.

Our squad was never and isnot world class. We are over-average and some players aren't just good enough.

To think they were compared to 1994

Rohr should go, too conservative and contrary to some opinions isn't tactical. I'll help him pack his bags from Russia

The Argentina domination continues, all thanks to rohrand his mentally weak players

How many of our players can make that Leicester team team that won the league? I understand what you mean. But before you can pull the kind of stunt that Leicester pulled, you need to have above average players. Leicester players are no walk overs.

Yes, i also agree that we were complacent which is also due to the kind of players we have and other factors such as coaching and technicality.
where did Vary, Kante, Morgan came from? They were all unknown... Same players who fought hard not to be relegated came to win the league.

Victory is first won in the mind!

Our players were just so timid. Take your time and watch the match again.

The following players should bow out.

Ighalo, Moses, Simy, Joel, Onazi, Echiejile...

Iheanacho should be careful not to fade out of the national team with his continuous lackluster performances. So much expectation is on him. He is presently failing to live up to them.

I think we have to come to the realization that we have an average squad. Even our best players will not make it into the first 11 of most other teams in the world cup. So, we didn't do badly based on what we had at our disposal.

Moving forward, the entire back line should be scrapped. Our defenders are slow and lethargic and cannot stand up against world class strikers. Espcially Leon Balogun.

I also don't agree with the bashing of Ighalo. He didn't do badly.
I don't like this talk of average players!

Argentina had all the players in this world yet they struggled to progress. Leicester had a relatively unknown players yet they blew away 19 other teams to win the EPL.

Ghana in 2010 almost progressed to the semis with the so called average players. Spain with their super stars struggled in a group of Iran and Morocco - don't forget they narrowly qualified etc

Football is a team sport. The game is first won in the mind before you step unto the pitch. Our boys were just unnecessarily scared of the Argentines. It wasn't like they beat us with 10 goals margin.

We lost because we were complacent and not average.

Yes he is! At least he had a successful dribble was left to beat only the goalkeeper but he wobbled.

Dude was one of the reason we lost. Two clean chances and he missed. Musa was trying not to be selfish
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by AIG07: 9:12pm On Jun 26, 2018
We were on the verge and we conceded a silly goal.

Nacho was poor but Ighalo wasn't the solution. Iwobi would have done better both attack wise and helping the Midfield to curtail Argentina.

They all went to sleep.

Mikel was telling them to press the Argentines back to their half, he even shew them but they were hell bent on defending. Rohr too didn't help matter. He refused to make necessary sub.

Today, when the Super Eagles of Nigeria files out to represent their father's land, the whole World will stand still and watch in anticipation of what will be the result between two World Cup and perennial rival.

So many questions will be begging for answers. Will Argentina continue their dominance over their perennial rival? Will Nigeria rise to the occasion and say enough is enough? Will Messi (one of the game's finest) once again do the impossible and wand his magical feet to ensure is country progresses to the next round? Etc.

But, in the mist of this mouth watering encounter, there certain things the Nigeria side will have to face before they progress.
* They will be playing against a wounded Argentines
* They will square up against 14 man team(against the Argentina's fans who will definitely fill everywhere in the stand, against the referee who is an European and finally against FIFA who already have their own favorites)

The odds are definitely against us. The media does not give us a chance.

I SAY THIS IS WAR!

But I'm hoping The Super Eagles will flap its wings today and soar far above the reach of any fiery arrows of the enemies that will come inform of biased officiating helped by VAR!
